[Music] statistics basic concepts sampling imagine that you've been asked to collect information about residents in your town maybe you want to study the correlation between age groups and jobs even if you lived in a small town it might take a lot of time to collect data from every person that's why in statistics there is what's called sampling sampling is a technique in which you represent the whole by just looking at a sample or a smaller part in this instance a representative sample would strive to reflect the town's entire population in order to better reflect the
whole your sample size has to be large enough there are other measures you can take too like making sure your sample is random or confirming your findings by using multiple sample groups for example a school is thinking about offering chocolate milk at lunchtime there are a thousand students at the school if there were only 10 students in the sample the data might not be as accurate it would be better to ask a hundred students or a tenth of the total student population in order to make sure the sample better represents the whole in statistics samples
