everyone is using AI language learning tools to learn new languages faster and more effectively but with so many AI language learning apps out there it can be really difficult to know which ones offer the best language learning features that actually help you to become fluent rather than just being gamified luckily I've tried out almost every AI language learning tool out there over the last 12 months and in this video I've broken down my top 10 as well as two bonus tools that didn't quite make the list as well as an extra six non AI language
tools bringing the total to 18 so hit that subscribe button and let's jump into the first tool on today's list that focuses on AI language role plays that you can create yourself so shikan is actually a full learning platform and includes quizzes for vocabs exams to test your knowledge and courses for comprehensive language practice on the learner plan you can create and share your own content and on the more expensive Creator plans you can actually create interactive AI role plays in any language you like this comes with full voice control with an alwayson microphone option
and it can even activate your camera to make the conversation more realistic if you get stuck in a conversation you can actually instantly translate things using the little button on the right here and ask for a hint on what to say next before getting some feedback after each response and at the end of the whole conversation you even get a full-blown coaching report and can work with an AI tutor too learn of Premium plans where you can play AI roleplay start at $45 per year and then Crea a packages start at $49 per month now
this next tool is great on mobile it's called called practica and it uses generative AI avatars to provide personalized English language learning experiences the app combines the Precision of a tutor with the engagement of an app offering personalized exercises based on insights from millions of students practica is designed for English language Learners at various proficiency levels who seek a more personalized and engaging learning experience you can also create some custom role plays in the app a little bit like she can and practica also features instant translation and hints within its app to help you navigate
you might not like all of the AI avatars that they use as they can seem a little bit false but it's a great way to engage with AI Avatar tutors on the go and it's got a really nice personalized language practice module where you can work through at your own pace it comes on a monthly subscription but you can pick up a deal for around $100 a year now one big part of language learning is pronunciation and speak is a language learning app that bases its practices on the importance of speaking a language in order
to learn that language speaks tutor is the AI element of the app acting like a live bot that helps you improve your speaking skills the AI voice use for the speak Shor is also not really that robotic sounding making it much easier to listen to than some others on today's lists it focuses on speaking and pronunciation over everything else and it offers real-time feedback and that chance to see your mistakes on the downside it's less focused on Grammar and Writing than some other tools on this list and it's not really suitable for complete beginners as
you need to jump into a conversation from day one now I couldn't do a list on AI language tools without mentioning J lingo Gio has millions of of users worldwide and you can choose from over 30 languages and use the app's lessons and gamified approach to learn new skills while I personally don't think it's helped me learn a language it has certainly sucked me into the app with its gamified system a lot of users absolutely love geol lingo and its fun design and really great marketing has gone a long way towards that its new AI
bite-size lessons and conversational role plays have really taken the app to the next level moving it away from just vocab to actually having real life conversations these are often plugged into the existing learning path and if you want to try and keep your streak it takes things to the next level if you've gone off Duolingo for whatever reason the new AI features are a great time to jump back in and they all come on the Geo Max package which is around $100 a year if you're looking for a little bit more structure then Babble empowers
people to learn a new language and develop their skills on the game in the app you can learn words for real world scenarios through bite-sized lessons and the app's content is pretty challenging so it's a good option for anyone who has a little bit of Prior experience Babel's much more professional than some alternatives on today's list and is a lot less gamified it's got a ton of five-star reviews on trust pilot and its lessons are very well structured with lots of effective easy to follow repetition I also love the AI features in the data and
Analysis sections that allow you to pull out some of your best bits and generate appropriate follow on exercises things like vocab and identifying areas in your language learning that is a little bit lacking in addition to all of the AI features it also has AI classes and has really clear instructions on what you need to do next when learning the downside here is it does have a High subscription cost and the amount of content available is very dependent on the language that you're studying next up we've got talk pal which is an AI pile tool
that's great for language Learners as the app works by creating real life scenarios where the user can learn new phrases and vocab and then put it into practice depending on your progress and your initial understanding of your chosen language you can also apply personalized learning experiences to what comes up next talk Pal's AI is very realistic with really good voices and its repetitive actions and encouraging Behavior acts just like a real world human cheor it's got a bunch of different subscription options for different price points and the interactive lessons provide ample opportunities for language learning
practice with AI cheers directly on the downside this specific AI tutoring might not be to everyone's taste next up we've got one of my favorite learning apps which isn't really a learning app at all it's chat GPT but it is free and it allows us to use the voice tools to practice real world conversations with a little bit of prompting or through using a custom GPT chat GPT aims to create humanik replies using its large language model so it's our deal for anyone practicing talking in a different language where you want the flexibility to create
your own scenarios on the go it can also generate quick vocab and popular phrases at the click of a button and if you're out and about in a foreign country practicing your language you can also use it as a translation tool or just get some just in time help the downside here is it's not a pure language learning tool and it lacks any of the analytics of the other tools on today's list but it is great and it is free and the new streamed voices are really accurate at producing a realistic conversation now univerbal is
an AI language tool that helps users solve real world quests and challenges you can choose from AI generated pictures of people and then begin a conversation about any kind of topic it's really focused around conversational language skills using real world conversations and scenarios and then it gives real time instant feedback a little bit like practica and Chen on this list but with much more customizable topics to choose from it doesn't have a huge selection of languages right now but they're adding more all the time and it's a great way to jump in and practice conversation
at a relatively low price point now if you're looking for Real Time feedback as part of language learning then torly is a great AI powered app that lets you speak to a language coach at any time of the day you can select your chosen language and begin practicing your conversational skills straight away and then receive real-time feedback as you go when I jumped into it the feedback and explanations from the AR cheeter easy to understand and really relevant and the chat bot is pretty accurate in correcting any mistakes in your language learning ability the app
also uses voice and comes with pronunciation help which is great if you're struggling to pronounce certain words in certain dialects the downside here is it doesn't have any written content and it's not necessarily for everybody our final AI language learning tool in the top 10 is memorized and it's really focused around space repetition it uses a repetition system to try and predict when a word or phrase might slip from your mind to daily lessons and quizzes it's very vocab heavy which is good practice for beginners you can also go really deep on the customization options
using their AI algorithms for example you can customize the spacing schedule and focus around specific pieces of vocab that you might be poor at it gives you native speakers to help practice accent and vocabulary encourages you to learn that new vocabulary too meot provides real-time instant feedback as you work your way through interactive lessons and games the free version is good but it is quite limited on the downside and there's not so much conversational practice as there is in other tools on today's list now that's the end of our top 10 but I just wanted
to add in an additional two tools that didn't quite make the AI top 10 list but are definitely worth checking out too the first of which is linguist and it's a language learning app that uses AI to help users develop their speaking writing and reading skills in their chosen language in a single platform it uses an AI tutor that personalizes the experience adjusting the complication levels depending on your progress the AO algorithm works really well at keeping vocab relevant to you and it's really easy to jump into with over 50 languages and progress tracked throughout
the downside here is there's less focus on listening and speaking skills and there are limited free options compared to other tools out there sticking with AI tutoring tools Lura is a platform for AI language learning that gives users an AI Engish cheer with which to practice it's designed to provide you with the most personalized experiences and help you develop your skills as much and as quickly as possible again you can get instant feedback from your cheor to help you stay on track and enjoy learning in a judgment free zone one of the main plus points
of Laura is it's got really good speech recognition which makes practicing really easy and there's also a large variety of topics that you can work your way through as with some of the other tools on this list it uses a premium model so you can jump in and check it out now and then you can jump into a base plan at around $50 per year okay so the next six tools that we're going to look at have some AI features built in but they're really more traditional language learning tools but they're well worth a look
as they're just so effective so let's jump into them right now first up we've got a well-known one which is Rosetta Stone it's best known for its immersive learning experiences and it runs on the idea that the best way to learn is by diving straight in it offers a wide range of languages and its plans offer interactive activities and the option of listening to a native speaker to help develop your skills it's got all of the language learning models that you might think about such just clicking on a picture associated with a word or repeating
back a particular phrase or vocab it's very easy to use with an intuitive interface and it's been around for ages with a lot of long and comprehensive language learning packages available it uses a bite-sized microlearning approach which is great and it tries to immerse you into its own app environment as much as possible to make things really realistic it's recently integrated in more AI speech recognition technology but I did find it still lacks some information about incorrect answers or any kind of AI coaching or real roleplay ation features that I really like next up we've
got busu which takes a slightly different approach it follows the common European framework of reference for teaching languages and it's internationally recognized and works in six different stages taking you from a total beginner to a fluent practicer of any language busu is really interesting as it follows a similar concept where you learn vocab practice language speaking but it can also connect you to native speakers in their own area for you to practice realistic conversations with next up we've got monley which is a great way to learn Lear a new language if you're looking for fun
over everything else it's got over 41 languages to choose from and it has recently integrated an AI chatbot tool to help practice everyday conversations which I found to be really fun and accurate you can listen to native speakers and then practice your pronunciation by repeating what they say there are tons of positive reviews of monley out there and a lot of the users really like the selection of topics that are available and how enjoyable the lessons are it uses that gamified approach and the speech recognition is really on point with daily lessons and interactive lessons
providing opportunities to practice your language with native speakers the downside here is the speech recognition isn't quite as good as some of the others on today's list despite being pretty good in itself and again it is slightly limited on the free tier with a lot of the features gated behind a paywall now this next one is probably my favorite app if you're learning Asian languages it's called eggbun education and it's an app for people who want to learn languages like Chinese Korean and Japanese there's a little character called Lanny who follows your progress and guides
you through the app itself it focuses on Asian languages and allows you to access an Asian keyboard allowing you to type out information as well as hear it too it focuses around cultural conversations and really immerses you in the dialect that you're learning the chatbot Lanny is a really great feature and I found the chatbot really helpful as I work through languages that are very different from English it also promotes conversations and focuses those conversations around specific practice with your tutor the cons here is it only really focuses around Asian languages and some users might
not prefer that very gamified chatbot interface Now spoiler this is one of my favorite Lang language learning programs of all time it's called pimsler and it really focuses on promoting an approach of sounding like a near native speaker in just 30 Days by learning for 30 minutes a day the efficacy of pimsler goes all the way back to the research of Dr Paul pimsler in the 1970s a linguist Professor who found that the best way to learn a new language was to hear it in everyday situations and then practice responding back I absolutely love this
and I had the audio books when I was a medical student listening to them on my iPhone and practicing repeating back conversational points that are repeated again and again using spaced repetition I found that this combined with some of the worksheets was probably one of the fastest and most effective ways to learn it's great if you want to handsfree listen and you enjoy listening to podcasts and it's really convenient with most lessons running under 30 to 40 minutes it's also backed by research that I absolutely love the cons here is there's less focus on writing
and grammar unless you use some of the online materials and there isn't a massive amount of AI plugged into it just yet although there are lots of things like chat Bots that are coming soon now if you want to jump into a more casual AI foreign language learning app then drops is one you want to check out it's very gamified and offers over 50 different languages using fastpaced and fun games to help people progress quickly I absolutely love the speed that it goes at but the fast-paced clicking might not be to everyone's tastes it's pretty
fun and pretty casual not pushing you to jump in every single day and allowing you to engage visually as well as building audio and vocabulary on the side the downside here that I found was it has some slightly inconsistent repetitions and there's less focus on grammar and conversation than in other tools on this list Okay so we've reached the end of this epic language learning app list so which are some of my personal preferences and which do I think are the best well I tend to default that tools that really replicate an actual conversation and
give you real-time hints and feedback because that's the best way that I learn so for me tools like shiken practica and pinsler are probably the most useful because I've learned from them myself if you're looking for something that combines fast vocab learning then chican Joo and Rosetta Stone are really really great too finally the addition of an AI tutor I do find really helpful but can be quite limiting in apps where they only use that as the main function it's really great to be able to jump in with the cheer after practicing a conversation or
some vocab and then getting it to it break down things and explain things in more detail now I hope you found today's video helpful I've got a bunch of other videos looking at language learning and AI tools that I'll pop up over here do let me know which tools you like in the comments down below and I'll catch you again next time see you
