hi my name is julie b and i'm back today i'm going to be sharing some of my stats and how i got into college [Music] spent like five minutes trying to start this and that's the best intro i could think of i got a few comments on my last video telling me that i should make a stats video so i decided i'm gonna do that if you haven't seen my last video where i react to where i got into college uh i would recommend watching that first i think it's pretty entertaining um only because it's
me embarrassing myself which is great so today i'm basically just gonna be reading off my common app because that's what the colleges see um so first of all i'm gonna start off with where i got into college i'm looking over here it's because i have like all my stuff typed up on my really crappy computer so i got into stanford dartmouth columbia cornell duke vanderbilt notre dame northwestern stetson and alabama and so i'm going to be reading the main part of my common app so like the the chunk of stuff that all the colleges saw
when i applied i forgot my password we're in haha okay so i'm going to the common app section of my common app fitting so under education you probably can't see it so under the grade section of my education common app my graduating class had 470 people um and we did do class rank i was eight when i turned in all my college applications we do weight our gpas so my weighted was a 4.85 current or most recent year courses our school lets us take six classes and we're on the semester system so i took advanced
placement statistics ap english lit aap biology ap psychology ap human geography and latin for honors okay so ap human geography is kind of an odd class for a senior to take um i took it because that wasn't an option freshman year so instead of going human geography world u.s and then either like comp or econ or whatever senior year i went u.s freshman year what did i do i like skippy or whatever um i skipped human geography for my first year so i'm taking it this year because i did not want to take econ i
hate econ will not major for sure watch me major in econ now and i took uh econ honors online over the summer i took it for one semester so under the honors section i have all five listed i think that it's important to list five things for top top-ranked schools i think it's important that you have something to fill all those um and if you are a sophomore or junior and you don't have all those five spots filled i would say look for something that you could make fill those spots or you could work towards
that would fill those spots because while they are looking for um like things that really have some meaning to you i think that having the substance there that would fill all those ranks is kind of important of course i'm not professional but that's my opinion so for my first honors i have national merit scholar commended that was in 11th grade and that's a national recognition for my second honor i have national hispanic scholar i know i'm hispanic i don't look like it i promise you i am for my third honor i am a national ap
scholar um which basically means that i took eight or more ap exams and i got an average score of a four or higher on all of them i think that's what it is i could be wrong for my fourth honor i was a member of mensah's national honor society and i was a platinum level member which means i got the highest number of service hours required for like a membership status so platinum is the highest i was a member for all four years so i selected 9th 10th 11th and 12th um and then that's a
national recognition if you don't know what capstone is it's a two-year ap program where you write a research paper for your second year and your first year is basically preparation um and it's kind of like a stand-in almost for nib program where you have to write i think the big paper at the end of ib so for capstone it's kind of like ap's research replacement so with that i wrote a research paper and i tried to include that i wrote that in as many college applications as i could of course there were some that i
wasn't able to say that but i think that also made me stand out a little bit i didn't get my paper published which i wish i had done if you have a research paper publish it if you're in the capstone program i feel like that could be so so helpful and then for my future plans i put that my career interest is to become a physician and i want to earn uh md or something of that nature testing the good stuff um i took both the act sat and i took some sat subject tests as
well so for my act i did take the act i got a 35 and my subject scores were a 35 on english a 35 on math a 36 on reading and a 34 in science and then i took the writing as well and i got a nine [Music] i hate the writing those essays are awful i hate them but from what i've heard colleges don't really care about it um i took the sat with essay as well i got a 1550 composite uh 760 on reading writing and a 790 on math and then my combined
essay score was a 15 which again is not the best but colleges don't care supposedly and then i decided to report to sat subject tests i took three but my chemistry wasn't great i got like a 690. um i chose not to report that one because it wasn't great but um i've heard 700s and higher so that's what i chose to do i reported math level 2 which i got an 800 on and us history which i got a 7 10 on and then my ap subject tests i took 9 ap tests and i'm gonna
take five this year so big tip it says number of ap tests you wish to report including tests you expect to take this isn't really a tip i was just dumb and almost forgot to report the tests that i expect to take so don't be like me and don't almost forget to report those so i took calculus bc i got a five i also reported my calculus bc av sub score which was a five as well then i took government and politics comparative and i got a five i took chemistry and got a four i
finessed chemistry not gonna lie that one was a shock i took english slang and got a four i took us governor politics and got a four i took world history and got a four i took ap research and kind of four ap seminar and got a four and us history and got a three i was also told that when you list your ap tests you should put them in number order not time order so i put my fives at the top fours and then my three at the very bottom so everyone can forget about that
one and then i said that i'm planning on taking this year ap biology psychology english lit statistics and human geography and again i put human geography at the bottom because colleges might be like why would she take that as a senior not that it's bad just um i feel like the other ones are more impressive hi sorry for the absolutely awful quality but i just learned that youtube doesn't like me enough to let me upload videos longer than 15 minutes and this one ended up being 20 minutes so i've had to break it into a
part one and part two i am now telling you that you should go check out part two it should be either recommended or if you search the title of this video with just part two right after it should pop up um or it just should be on my channel right after this one and order of videos uploaded i guess if that makes sense so i plan on uploading them together and these are both going to be relatively short like 10 ish minute videos because they should have originally been a 20 minute video but go check
that one out it will be the rest of my stats so my activities that i listed on the common app and that's it sorry that this was kind of not an ideal way to make a video but i don't really have another option so thanks for watching bye
