we've been talking about these immigration changes for some time they're part of what we're doing across the board in immigration in looking at our rules our changes to policy have already brought net migration down by 1/3 but we're carrying on and there are three key things we want to do we want to stop migrants from having access to Bennett with two public services that they're not entitled to when looking at access to benefits access to social housing access to the NHS we want to make it easier and quicker to remove people from this country so
that they can't just stay around through a whole series of spurious appeals and we also want to deal with what's called the article 8 issue and make it absolutely clear that foreign national offenders with serious crimes should except in very exceptional circumstances should be deported from this country but this bit about is about is taking things further in looking at those areas where I think most people think it's unfair they think it's unfair that somebody can have an appeal after appeal after appeal they think it's unfair that people can have access to public services like
the health services without paying into them and it's unfair that illegal immigrants people you got no right to be here I can live apparently easily getting access to bank accounts driving licenses and so forth those are the issues this bill addresses so it makes it harder for people to be here illegally it reduces the number of appeal rights that people have and it means we'll be able to deport foreign criminals first and they'll appeal afterwards from outside the UK what we're talking about is very something very simple we're saying that actually if you've got no
right to be here in the UK then we don't think it should be possible for you to rent properties this is part of the proposals we've got to make it harder for illegal immigrants to be here in the UK we want to ensure that only legal migrants have access to the labour market free health services housing bank accounts and driving licenses and it is not just about making the UK a more hostile place for illegal migrants it is also about fairness
