when you first start selling digital products it's really easy to feel pulled in every direction Everything feels new exciting and kind of like everything everywhere all at once but this also means that sometimes you can feel a little bit overwhelmed and a question that comes up again and again is what do I even make well the answer is a little bit different if you are just starting out but just because you are new to this does not mean you can't get started with a little bit of strategy and give yourself every Advantage so in this
beginner's guide to digital products I'm going to tell exactly what to look for I'm going to give you my three-point framework to find winning digital products even if you are just starting out so in this beginner's guide to digital products I'm going to tell you everything you need to get started plus I'm going to give you my exact three-point framework to look for winning digital products even if you are brand new to selling them I am also going to give you a little bit of brain fuel and give you 15 digital products that I personally
would choose today if I was starting a brand new store as a beginner and then finally I'm going to show you three super simple products that have done done extremely well in my own stores and show you exactly how much they've made Let's jump in and get started if you don't know who I am my name is Jessa I have four relatively young kids and I have been a designer for around 17 years for a big chunk of that I've been selling digital products on Etsy and I mean I really love it I'm really passionate
about digital products obviously when you're a busy mom time really valuable so it just seems to fit really well with this and I mean I love teaching people how to do it as well so let's say you are a total beginner you aren't a designer you don't know canva you don't know any software but you are really excited to make this work and you are full force behind it well the great news is that everything that you need to make digital products is totally learnable so you can learn it as you go along step by
step but if there was one bit of advice that I could give you as a total beginner and it's because I see people make this mistake again and again don't go over really Advanced complicated huge products that are going to take a huge amount of time to put together when you first starting out a volume of products is your friend and simple products are the best thing that you can possibly put your time and energy into some of my bestselling products on Etsy are so simple and they've made hundreds of dollars and I always recommend
that beginners get started there simply because it's so much easier to get a couple of products under your belt start making sales and you can always work up to the 500 page planner if that's really where you want to go but in the beginning set yourself up for success and go after simple products so I have a three-part framework which I personally use all the time and I think it's really really fantastic for vetting products and finding things which are a little bit easier to create but still have huge potential so the framework that I
have in the back of my mind whenever I'm creating digital products is Tec or Tech so that's products that are trending so trending products trending products are essentially products that are low competition High sales volume so obviously this is good because people are buying them if they have a high sales volume and it means the product is validated so you know there's a market design buy there for them but where low competition comes in on a platform like Etsy is it's easier to stand out in the market because everything is search engine based so when
you have low competition it means that every time someone types in a search term that's going to bring up your product you're going to have less competing products there next to yours the second thing we look for is products that are easy to make so we really want to go after the simple products that aren't too timec consuming because especially if we're just starting out we don't want to be battling the learning curve while we're trying to create our first products you want to go after products which is simple enough that you don't feel overwhelmed
when you sort of think about making them and a big bonus of this as well is obviously simpler products take less time to make so Etsy is very much a numbers game because we're on a search engine based platform we need a volume of products to compete so if you're making a lot of simpler products when you're just starting at your store even as a beginner that's going to give you a massive Edge now the third thing we want to look for is products that are crunchy so we want to go for products that are
super specific really dialed into the needs of our customers it's much easier to sell something that is specifically made for another person rather than something that is Broad so instead of say social media posts that are for everyone really dial it in and do say social media post for electricians being really intentional and specific with your products will take you a long way so now you guys have the framework let's jump into inside Factory I'm going to show it in action let's jump in and find 15 trending digital products that are perfect for beginners so
here we are in Insight Factory now if you haven't used it before here's a bit of a crash course you want to go to Etsy Trends you want to put a search term at the top I recommend going really broad you can see I've just searched printable and what that does it brings up everything and then you can pick the best ones now you also want to select a sort by functionality we currently have it set to sales potential or sales signal and you can see these icons here are the things that we're going to
look at so the bottom one here this is competition we want this to be as low as possible and the top one here this is Sal so we want this to be as high as possible and this is going to help us find products that are trending so next up we want to look for products that are really easy to make and things that are very specific so off the backat kindergarten class ring printable this is a really great one very low competition and quite easy to make here we have a tag which is a
very easy product to make so you can see we've got printable tag wor worm super specific easy to make and it is trending dance recital template half page this is another really good one dance recital template half page this is a really good one as well because it's specifically half a page you can see this is a beautiful one as well the Lord's Prayer activity very low competition very high sales and I mean you can get a bit creative with this one there's lots of different ways you can create activities which is going to give
you a real way to stand out in the market not everyone's going to be doing the same thing birthday coloring placemat this is a really great one as well especially if you're in the party Niche color theory printable wheel now the reason I like this one in the printable wall art Niche is that you can't really generate that using an AI tool so it's always going to be lower competition minimalist boho scenery coloring pages adult printable you can see how specific that is now a little tip when you are doing your SEO you always want
to copy and paste this full term put it at the start of your title and make sure it's in your tags as well this is a great one for the clip art Niche so hand with diploma clip art cute strawberry baby girl clip art so what's good about this one is it's referencing the baby shower industry or people who are making kids activities so we can really tailor the clip art that we make to appeal to that audience business logo for lawn care again very very specific creating a logo template for people who are offering
a lawn service this is a really good one for SVG so you can see we at SVG PNG so here you can see it is a specific saying and they're wanting it in two separate file types SVG and PNG this one over here is fantastic candy bar award certificate so you can see the ratio to sales versus competition is fantastic and this is such a simple product to make as well find the groom scratch off game so this is just a little card and that would be so easy to create using canva or template you
can see the competition is really low and the sales have been really high for this one as well 70th birthday card hike that's a really great one now checklist these are one of my favorite products for beginners cuz they're so easy to lay out they're content Bri but you can use a tool like chat jpt to help you with the content and I mean consistently there's really good demand for checklists you can see new home construction checklist really good competition versus really good sales forms are another really great product and the reason I like forms
is they're a little bit boring so not Everyone likes to do them down here we've got event Decor rental form this is a fantastic one coloring pages are another really strong product so they would fall sort of into the educational Niche you can see here we've got strawberry first birthday coloring page and this would be a really fantastic one to pair with the plac out one that we saw before baby shower coloring pages alphabet so you can see this is so specific but really really simple so you can see there's so many different ideas on
inside Factory and I mean where you start the products that you pick it's going to be unique to you because everyone is different everyone has different strengths now to wrap it up I wanted to show you three of my really simple products that have done exceptionally well on Etsy I just wanted to give you a little bit of inspiration and back up the fact that simple Sals so let's jump across to the scre share now so product number one is this Buffet card so quite simple just some text on card very sort of clean mocked
up and presented really really nicely you can see this product has made $2,832 now this is definitely an outlier not every product makes this not every simple product is going to generate thousands of dollars but I mean this one has and it's done really well and I mean you can see a bit of a theme with the buffet Trend these ones over here have also made quite a lot of money now the next one I wanted to to show you is this really simple Wi-Fi sign you can see it's just got the QR code there
it's a template so they edit all that themselves really simple header and a simple area for network and password you can see this one has generated $53.50 just for this sign and the product's actually less than a year old as well so it's quite a new product it's done really really well for a very simple product and again you can see the mockup is really on point it's presented really really well the product's very clear and it overall just looks quite professional and then the third product is a clip art product and I wanted to
show you this because we see a lot of big bundles of clip art that have hundreds of things included for a very low price this bundle here has 22 very very simple crowns and it's generated $48.90 so you can see even though it's a really simple clip Up pack it was a trend it was in demand and it was very specific so it's done really really well now if you enjoyed this video and you want to learn more about weird interesting little holes in the mar Market you're going to love this video over here it's
