the film opens somewhere in Ohio where a trapped girl escapes and gets rescued by an old woman on the road the scene switch to Pennsylvania where a woman named Sarah is taken to the hospital to deliver her baby early as she gives birth to a boy the escaped victim's captive is found by the cops and is shot to death with the escaped victim's chopped off hand in his hands Sarah names the boy miles who has odd eyes one Hazel and one Blue Miles starts to develop early and says his first words when he's a few
months old whereas the doctors convince Sarah that miles is hyper aware and intelligent for his age she believes there's something wrong with her boy so she takes him to a therapist the therapist checks miles's IQ level and discusses miles being extraordinary while miles spots a spider and crushes it without any hesitation when he turns eight he asks his father John to hand him paprika to sprinkle on his food like an adult Sarah spends some time with miles at the dinner table and leaves for a date with JN leaving behind miles with his Nanny the couple
stops by the river and decides to get drunk Sarah shows concerns for Miles who doesn't interact with kids in school Jon stops her from worrying about miles and continues their date meanwhile miles plays hide and seek with his Nanny and makes her count while he hides he rushes towards the basement door where his shadow grows bigger and he takes out the light bulb from its socket when the nanny comes looking for miles in the basement she steps on a broken glass bottle on the stairs and gets injured when Sarah comes home and asks miles about
what happened he acts decent and claims he doesn't remember anything the next day miles is seen dressed as a skeleton for Halloween he washes away the paint from one side of his face and leaves the paint on the other half side the following night Sarah goes to check up on Miles and hears him talking gibberish in his sleep so she records him miles wakes up and asks his mother what she's doing here she tells him that he was having a bad dream but he claims he was seeing a good dream at school miles grows vindictive
when a boy from his class pairs up with the girl he wanted to pair with he ends up finding a wrench and gives the boy a severe beating this lands him in another appointment with his therapist who shows him different kinds of RoR shock ink blots and asks him to interp them she has difficulty dealing with Miles who claims there's someone hurting him the therapist asks Sarah to take miles to a more experienced psychologist and asks if miles has been ever abused by anyone before leaving Sarah hands the therapist miles recording of his sleep talk
Sarah comes home and argues with Jon accusing him of abusing miles but he assures that he wouldn't lay a finger on him unlike his abusive father unknown to the couple miles is is secretly eavesdropping on them Sarah wakes up in the middle of the night to check up on Miles This Time Miles cusses at her under his breath during his sleep he starts humming and suddenly wakes up in Terror he claims that he's feeling someone's presence in his head but Sarah hugs and Comforts him thinking he's having nightmares the next morning miles's therapist involves a
more experienced psychologist named Arthur after hearing the tape recording of Miles she invites Sarah over on short notice and introduces him to Arthur Arthur reveals that he's taken his friend's help to translate miles's sleep talk gibberish and it turns out he was speaking Hungarian and cussing at a woman using all kinds of filthy slurs and what's concerning is that he Associated this with a good dream Sarah finds all this nonsense but Arthur mentions his previous patients and diagnoses that an old soul has reincarnated as miles to finish their undone business which is a very common
stereotype our auth suggests helping the reincarnated soul in order to leave miles's body which is the usual case with his other patients before Sarah leaves in disappointment the therapist hands her a CD Sarah comes home to Miles who asks for a staring contest midst lunch when she agrees to do it miles holds her hands and strokes them with his thumb in a perverted manner which makes Sarah extremely uncomfortable he starts humming the same tune he recently hummed in his sleep [Music] so Sarah asks where he learned it from much to her shock miles claims his
mother used to sing it to him in his sleep when he was a baby since Sarah had never sung him anything she runs to play the CD given by the therapist she finds a documentary of Arthur's previous patient dealing with The Reincarnation of a pilot in a little boy JN walks in on her and convinces her there is no no such thing as reincarnation the following night Sarah goes to mil's room to give him a reminder about going to bed and ends up in shock when she sees his face changing into a mature man's the
next day at school miles draws multiple hands on his notebook and sharpens some tools at night the family wakes up to their dog gone missing Jon takes miles to find it but things end on a bad note when miles purposefully messes with him by bringing up about his abusive father while passing evil smirk joh freaks out and comes home asking Sarah if she's told anything to Miles simultaneously he finds a baby monitor chipped at the back of their family photo frame Jon thinks miles is spying on them so he confronts him and tries to hit
him but Sarah pulls him back and sends him away to his brother's place now Sarah gives miles a bath during which he confesses that he watches himself leave his body and prepare for a room that same night Sarah has a nightmare in in which miles turns into a grown man and tries to hurt her when she wakes up in Terror she finds miles standing in her door asking if he can sleep with her he lies down behind her and asks if she will still love him if he did anything bad will you always love me
no matter what I do simultaneously flies start showing up around the house buzzing and leading Sarah to the basement where she finds their dead dog with chopped off pause out of words Sarah takes him to see Arthur the next morning before helping he warns Sarah that it's impossible to cure miles since he's grown with the soul for 8 years which is not the case with his other patients now Arthur uses hypnosis to put miles to sleep and speaks Hungarian for the second entity to speak the reincarnated Soul tells Arthur that his parents were ordinary Hungarian
farmers who migrated to Ohio but he didn't want to end up like them so he chose his own path to Greatness he refuses to tell Arthur his name but miles struggles with him and scratches his name on his couch Arthur becomes disgusted when the reincarnated Soul manipulates him to dismiss his case or else he will accuse him of molesting miles poor Arthur does as he's told and lets miles go when Sarah returns home Jon shares with her the idea of institutionalizing miles that night Sarah gets a call from Arthur Who reveals everything about what happened
at the session he tells Sarah to turn on her laptop and search the name Edward scarka the exact name miles scratched on Arthur's couch Sarah's grounds are shaken when Arthur starts telling her about the man who has the same odd eyes as miles it turns out that Edward was a serial killer who would chop off the hands of his victims before killing them his last victim got away and led the police to his house where they shot him dead when Arthur and Sarah tally Edward's Death date with miles's birth date it turns out to be
the same date confirming Edward's reincarnation Arthur then advises not to fall for miles's innocence anymore because Edward is a manipulative psychopath who's fully taken over miles she hears Jon coming downstairs so she hugs him and Whispers that they have to do something about miles without him knowing the next morning she sends Jon away to school and plans on sending him away through JN while Jon shows up at his class to pick him up she packs his stuff back at the house she ends up finding miles secret stash under the cupboard in which he has Edwards
escaped victim's novel and all the newspaper cutouts of her articles seeing them Sarah figures out the purpose of Edward's reincarnation back on J's side miles realizes he's being put away so he pulls out pliers out of nowhere and stabs Jon's lower abdomen causing him to crash the car and get severely injured Sarah visits J and determines to fix her family by conducting Edward's unfinished business she doesn't fall for miles's tricks and takes him away she stops by a store to buy sleeping pills and a gun because she doesn't trust him when miles takes the pill
and goes to sleep she drives all the way to Ohio to that escaped victim's house she gains her trust by implying she's also a victim like her and walks inside her house when she finds out from the victim that she's a mother she rushes to the bathroom and throws up realizing she can't shoot a mother she still loads the gun and walks out to shoot her but has trouble pulling the trigger miles shows up with a knife reminding the victim of his existence by asking which one of his eyes she likes he then ruthlessly stabs
her and walks away Sarah tries to stop the victim's bleeding but she dies in her hands Sarah runs outside to chase miles she finds him in an open field where he confesses that miles is already dead and he was fooling Sarah the entire time Sarah feels betrayed and pulls out her gun claiming she will not let a monster use her son's body before she pulls the trigger an old man shoots Sarah with a rifle assuming she's some psycho while Sarah takes her last breaths miles runs to the stranger acting all scared and Disturbed he is
