creating and offering lead magnets is a highly effective strategy to Growing your email list and generating qualified leads so in this guide we're going to go through a simple five-step process to identify some ideas for your own lead magnets how to actually make them and package them so they actually grow your email list as opposed to nobody actually sharing their contact information to sign up for them so time stamps below along with some other helpful links and resources including a link to one of our lead magnets our sales funnel Playbook and template library to help
you actually promote your lead magnet but before we get into that let's take a step back and figure out why the heck should we do a lead magnet in the first place so all a lead magnet is is something of value we offer in exchange for contact information so this can be a template a planner an audit this could also be a resource guide some sort of Special Report or Insider or special training and so no matter what type of lead magnet you create the core of this strategy and the reason that lead magnets works
so well is is that they actually demonstrate your Worth to your potential customers so instead of just saying hey give me money and I'll give you results our lead magnet leads with value demonstrates we could be helpful and then people are much more open to doing business with us now obviously if our lead magnet stinks then they're probably not going to want to purchase our products or services so here are a couple of concrete examples and then I'll leave a link in the cards in the description to a super deep dive guide that goes through
lots of different lead magnet ideas and our first example here is our sales copywriter Playbook it is a simple PDF although I use Google slides to make this we'll get to Creation in the next few sections but you can see here they simply go through an exercise where they can enter their information we have some formulas to help them jump start their own copywriting ideas and that's all there is to it to this particular lead magnet so what's really important is we're not trying to solve everything under the sun for our ideal customers in this
particular instance we're just helping them write some headlines write some bullet points and get the ball rolling with their marketing and then hopefully this is valuable it helps them get the ball rolling and then they're more interested in some of our paid offers or our paid course on how to write a full-blown sales letter now this next one is a little more complicated and this is a Google sheet and we put together a Content calendar so we have a little video that goes along with this that helps people come up with their keyword ideas come
up with some content strategy and then of course map out what their posts or videos are going to be over the next couple of months if not the entire year and this last example is the one linked up in the description and it's our sales funnel template library and Playbook and it's a series of templates that's built inside of a software and the reason that we created these was we want people to use the software that we think people should use and then it's a nice little bonus because if they sign up via our link
they get the templates for free you can learn more via the link in the description so you don't have to be overly that complex those templates took a really long time to put together versus the a copywriter Playbook which only took a day or two so I definitely recommend starting with a PDF based lead magnet more on that when we get into creation so hopefully you have an idea too we'll go through some more but there's a really simple exercise you can go through to figure out what your lead magnet should be about and how
you can create something that will actually be helpful to your ideal customers so we'll start the process off by looking at this little diagram here and asking the question who are we actually trying to help right so just a quick less than five word descriptor of who you're trying to help and then we want to ask the question okay of these people what are they trying to accomplish so our small business owner of course wants more time in their business the Homesteader at the bottom they want to be off-grid the work from a home mom
wants to make a part-time income working from home so whatever whoever your ideal customer is just make a list of all the things that they are trying to accomplish all the things that they want to achieve and then we look at it from their first perspective again and say okay we want to do this but I don't have enough time I don't have enough energy I don't have enough experience you know fill in the blank with whatever you can always pause to read through the examples so we want to really step into the shoes or
our ideal customer and think about what are they trying to achieve and then make a really long list of why they think they can achieve those results and this is a list of common results that are people have people are after and a common list of roadblocks people are after so you can see here time money energy Independence you know not having enough experience these are all very common results and roadblocks so it'll take you five or ten minutes but you want to make a list of those and then you're going to choose one roadblock
that you think you can help solve in less than a day you see with our lead magnet we need to make something that's going to give them a quick win a quick aha moment so if we went back to our example here let's say our work from home mom or business owner we're not going to create a lead magnet that shows them how to make a full-time income you know in the next 20 days right that's going to be way too long and it's going to take a lot of work that's probably going to be
a course or a service but we can take a step back and say okay well maybe we could create some sort of report that helps the walk that stay-at-home mom through some of her options in terms of what she can do working from home or we could create some sort of resource guide for the home center and saying hey here's all the resources that you should look into or here's the best gear for you know creating your at-home chicken pin or your at-home Garden or whatever it might be so we're just looking at a small
slice of the results and roadblocks that they're dealing with and then creating a solution for that now when it comes to okay maybe you still don't have an idea of what your lead magnet could be well you could head over to a place like creative Market you could go over to Etsy and even Fiverr although I'm not saying make a Fiverr gig and you can look at the different workbooks or worksheets it could just go over to creativemarket search workbook or worksheet and then whatever your Niche or industry is there'll be a lot of ideas
there and some of them you could actually just straight up buy and use as your lead magnet if you don't want to create one yourself please obviously don't copy there so that's a whole other issue in video or you could head over to a place like Fiverr and you can look at the gigs that are being offered for to your ideal customers and so you could obviously create some sort of template report or even a special training showing them how to do some of what the gigs are offering and so we're just trying to give
someone a quick win and provide value with our lead magnet here and of course you can create more than one lead magnet we have lots of lead magnets on this channel and some work really well and others not so much it's kind of just crickets so you'll definitely want to test so again we're looking to provide some sort of template where they can copy our process we could help them evaluate their current situation with an audit organize the information that they already have create some sort of forward plan or of course we could even go
ahead and do a bunch of research for our ideal customers so again link cards in the description to a full-blown guide that goes through lots of different examples and ideas just in case you don't have one or two yet and I've completely failed up until this point so next let's talk about what we're going to call our lead magnet and then we'll get to building we'll get to building in a moment but let's talk about how we actually name our lead magnet and we can use a simple copywriting formula to create a compelling and irresistible
headline that specifically calls out to our ideal customer to make sure that they know this lead magnet is for them and not just another generic lead magnet because let's face it you've opted you and I have both opted into a list and found what we got not all that great and maybe just complete garbage so here are some formulas we have how to result without roadblock how to break roadblock even if and then how to result in the next time frame even if roadblock so we'll use the example of someone who is trying to be
more successful the Facebook ads so we have a list of results we have a list of roadblocks and so putting it all together here we take the roadblocks and results we've plugged them into our formulas and as you can see from this example it becomes really easy to start to really call out specifically what your lead magnet does and how it's going to help them break through roadblocks when you use Simple copywriting formulas like this so again timestamps below you can always come back to this graphic and pause and here are some power words you
can use to add a little bit of oomph to whatever you decide to call your lead magnet now when it comes to actually creating your lead magnet I'll leave a link in the cards in the description again yeah I'm linking a lot here but we just don't want this video to be 50 minutes long right that goes through a really in-depth tutorial on how to create your lead magnet inside of canva now of course I like starting off with PDFs and what's awesome with a PDF is you can make it editable you can make drop
