[Music] [Music] what's up travies and welcome back to the tribe i first want to say thank you to all of my new tribe members who joined into this big beautiful melonated tribe and if you have not joined into this big beautiful melania tribe i'm gonna need you let's go right over here hit that red subscribe button and join into all of this traveling is that we have got going on over here okay so today's video is going to be short sweet to the point this video is going to be about three things that you can
start incorporating into your daily or weekly bi-weekly routine to get your hair to be as healthy and as strong and retain as much length as you possibly can so let's just get right into the video tip number one now you guys know that i'm very unconventional when it comes to my hair and how i've grown my hair out i have broke every single natural hair rule that there is so don't be surprised but number one is to give yourself a hair analysis bi-weekly weekly so what does that mean that means that every week or every
two weeks we should be in the mirror observing our hair seeing what our hair is doing does it feel different is it dry is it brittle um the overall health of your hair i feel like we blindly and just kind of like subconsciously do our hair without actually being present when we're doing our hair we'll style our hair we'll do a whole wash day a deep condition but we don't take the time to actually observe and look at the current health of our hair until our hair gets to the point where it's damaged so being
very vigilant and really observing your hair when you're doing it does it feel different are you noticing any changes it's better to start to observe and to notice little signs before they develop into something bigger because once they get into something bigger then you're gonna have to do more of um you know treatments to help mitigate those issues that you're having and sometimes your hair can be so far gone to where you have to start cutting off you know little by little rather than doing preventative measures on your hair and just you know maintain your
current state your current health of your hair so be vigilant you know give your yourself a hair analysis every one to two weeks observe your hair observe your strands what is your hair doing and i promise you you will never run into any problems or issues concerning the health of your hair number two know what you're putting in your hair so often we blindly go to target go to walmart wherever it is you go to go get your hair stuff and we pick things up off the shelf because it was recommended to us and so
often we don't flip that bottle around and really read the ingredients that are in the products that we are using and when i say be familiar with what is in the product i don't mean to look at the front and it says oh um argan oil you know it's uh infused with biotin and all that you have to flip the bottle over read the label be familiar with the certain ingredients that are in your products like centrimonium chloride what does that use for um if you see a satellite alcohol what is that for you have
to start to give yourself an understanding and a knowledge on cosmetic ingredients when it comes to the products that you use hey big boy because everybody's hair is different and it's just a smart idea to know what these ingredients do and how they affect your hair because sometimes if you use a product and you're noticing that your hair is not liking it then what's the first second third and fourth ingredient on that list maybe your hair does not work well with those type of ingredients so you need to know what the ingredient is the benefit
that it has and the effect that it has on your hair for instance if your hair doesn't do well with coconut oil and you notice that the product has coconut oil listed as like the third or the fourth ingredient maybe your hair is not going to mesh well with that product because coconut oil is so high up on the formulation the higher up it is on a formulation the more amount that it has in there so if you have a product that says oh it's argan oil you know on the front label and that's how
it's marketed to you but when you flip it around argan oil is like the third to last ingredient it's like well it's really not a really high concentrate of it in there so just be familiar with with what you're using on your hair and even when it comes to natural things okay i'm just going to pick this oil because it's natural so i should be okay that's not how it works you have to find products that are compatible with your hair and your hair strands and not everybody's hair is compatible with different things so whether
you're using something all natural or whether you're using something formulated both is fine use what works for your hair but the key is know what you are using so that the compatibility with those products will yield success for you because if you're just picking up random things and saying hey this works on her hair this person suggested me this without flipping that bottle over and really reading and being familiar with the ingredients in there you may have a bad experience and it might turn you off to that type of product for a while or it
might just yeah it might just turn you off to that type of product whether you're using something all natural or whether you're using something formulated that is fine do and use what works for your hair but at least know what the product is going to do and the effects that it's going to have on your hair and what it's used for before you just go ahead and start experimenting and throwing things into your hair always research always be mindful of the things that you're using and if you are you know unsure of you know what
you want and the things that you like start to look at your current products and and separate them into two piles so separate them separate them into the pile of things that work and then separate them into the piles that does not work and then flip those things over and start comparing the first you know 10 ingredients on the formulation list like start looking and start um becoming aware of these things because the more that you're aware of the things that your hair does and do not like you are setting yourself up for success because
you can go and you can buy that product and you can have a good experience and your hair can turn out great the first time abuse rather than having to go and spend more money and buy things over and over again to figure it out so just be very vigilant of the things that you're using on your hair and start to obtain a knowledge of ingredients number three protective styling does not equal neglect i'm gonna say it one more time for the people in the back protective styling does not equal neglect yes thank you protective
styling does not equal neglect ladies just because you say all right i'm gonna throw my hair in a perspective style does not mean that you can neglect your hair and then expect to take that protective style out and your hair be longer and flowier and all that that's not how it works at all whatsoever it's actually the opposite of that so when your hair is in a protective style you have to be even more vigilant of your hair and what your hair is doing for instance if you put your hair in two strand twists that
doesn't mean oh i get a break from my hair vacation hair vacation i'm gonna put my hair in these two strand twists and i'm not gonna do nothing and that's it no that's not how it works my ice maker when your hair is in a protective style you want to make sure that you are able to get to your hair moisturize your hair properly condition your hair properly and be observant of your hair properly if you wear box braids and you have hair added well you can't really properly get to your hair and see what's
going on so you don't want to leave them in for months and just forget about it you really want to be vigilant of your hair when it's in a protective style now if your core you know cornrowing your hair and you're wearing wigs that's fine you can do that but don't leave those in for like a month and then when you take them out you're wondering like uh why is my hair so dry because that can potentially lead to breakage so you want to make sure that you're properly conditioning and moisture moisturizing your hair keeping
it hydrated if you need to take some cornrows out just to see what your hair is doing and put them back in then do that now i'm not saying do it like frequently because it's a protective style but you still want to make sure that you know what your hair is doing for instance me and my twist i'll go about two weeks without touching my twists but then i'll start looking at the ends of them i'll start looking at my roots my scalp and seeing if there's any type of tlc that my hair needs and
so i might take down a couple of twists that i noticed are starting to kind of mat up i'll take that down i'll detangle it i'll you know moisturize it and then i'll twist it back but now that i've been wearing my hair in a blown out state i don't have to do that as often because my hair is not coiling up and shrieking up on itself as much it's kind of staying stretched out but yet still every week i go i look at my ends i see if i need to do any type of
moisturizing treatment on my ends um if i need to retwist any you know twists that are going on we just want to make sure that you are vigilant when it comes to your protective styling because we as naturals sometimes give protective styling a bad you know rep because a lot of people say that you know when they take their protective styles out they haven't retained any length their hair is more dry well it's not to protect the style it's you not understanding that a protective style it equal neglect and you can't just put your hair
away and be like all right peace out i'll see you in like a month or two like no it doesn't work like that it's the opposite of that you have to be more vigilant you have to look in the mirror like i said in tip number one you have to be vigilant you have to give yourself a hair analysis you have to know what your hair is doing how your hair is reacting these are things that you have to do and i'm just gonna throw a bonus number four in because i talk about this all
the time and it's really true although people don't want to hear it but you have to accept your hair for what it is your hair is synonymous to you it's beautiful whether it's long short thick thin high porosity low porosity it does not matter you love your hair it's on your head it's something that god gave to you so you have to learn how to embrace it and it's sometimes a little hard for us to embrace our natural hair because of the way we may feel other people view it but to be honest you are
the only person that has to live in your skin and you are the only person who has to accept you for you it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks so love your hair accept your hair treat your hair well like i said your hair is very synonymous to you it's a part of you and it's also a part of like your family history and it's kind of like one of those things where you look in the mirror and it kind of reminds you of the people who were there before you and we have to start
taking that in stride and we have to start really loving and upset accepting our hair because if we're not doing it nobody else is going to do it for us but nonetheless this is your hair journey your healthy hair journey and i wish you all of the luck and i hope that you guys enjoyed this video don't forget to rate comments and join into the tribe i love all you guys and i will see you in my next video peace
