[Applause] how do you build the perfect eBay store what's going on everybody my name is Ryan roots and I am a professional online reseller all that really means is that I buy stuff and then I sell it for a profit on platforms like eBay we've been selling full-time on eBay for the past eight years we've done 30,000 plus item sales on eBay we've made over a million dollars selling stuff on eBay and I'm saying that not to brag just to give you a little bit of background on why I feel like I'm able to make this video to help people build the perfect eBay store now that being said in today's video I'm going to take a look at two active eBay stores I got their permission to take a look at their store I posted a little thing on Instagram that said hey if you guys want us to take a look at your store and give a few helpful tips send through your store and two people did so those are the stores that we're going to take a look at today also keep in mind that a lot of the stuff that I'm going to show you today is opinion based like it's it's factual because it's worked for us in the past and for people that we've taught in the past but a lot of the tips that I'm going to give are somewhat open to interpretation you don't have to do them it's just stuff that we've noticed that has worked in the past also I'm assuming if you clicked on today's video that you are already an eBay seller or you're thinking about becoming an eBay seller so if you are a reseller and you like videos like this informative video is just teaching you how to do something a little bit different then do me a favor hit the thumbs up button on this video consider subscribing to the channel cuz we do teach you videos like this all the time and also feel free to share this video with whoever you like one other thing before I jump over to the eBay stores and also I'm going to actually like screen record me going through these stores and giving tips so you'll see everything just as I see it but a lot of people have been asking when we're going to be opening up our mentoring group again we have this group of resellers there's like 600 or so resellers in this group and it's been like over 2 years since we've opened that group up for new people to join so we have this decided to open that group back up and I've set a date now for when we're going to be opening that group so December 1st 2023 we're going to open that group back up it is an awesome group whether you are new to reselling or we have some people in there doing like over $100,000 a month so it is open to everybody but spots will be limited I'll put a link in the description of today's video or just go to Rally roots. com put in your name and email address and we'll shoot you an email when that group finally opens up again okay let's take a deep dive into these two eBay stores I'll start with the first one give a few critiques and then we'll jump over to the second store all right here we go the first eBay store that we're going to take a look at is called MSL Creations they have 100% positive feedback they've sold 831 items on Ebay 161 followers hey also I will link both of these eBay stores in the description of today's video it would be awesome if you go and click on their links and go and support them maybe go buy something from their store it was really nice of them to uh let me use their stores for this video and I'm going to try to be as nice as possible while still giving like some constructive feedback constructive criticism on these stores so go click on their stores and show some support if you want to all right let's get back into this the first thing I see is you have a good store name uh you have great feedback you have a store Banner in there which is good your logo is in there so all of that looks great you have 287 active items on Ebay if we look at your categories it looks like you're selling a lot of clothing and shoes some toys some Collectibles it's a good mixture of stuff I see okay so I've sorted your items by newly listed so we can take a look at how you're currently actively listing your items on eBay and let's take a look through these it looks like you are listing quite a few like collectible toys that looks good titles look good you got some car heart jackets up there you've got some good vintage t-shirts some higher end vintage t-shirts that's nice some good shoes Okay so a wide kind of variety of stuff this is actually pretty similar to the type of stuff that we sell on eBay so I should be able to give some good good pointers here taking a deeper look into this it looks like you are running some auctions which is good you also have buy it Nows which is good I like a mixture I think obviously the better way to sell on eBay is to do mainly buy it Nows and not that many auctions but it is good to run a few auctions at a time CU that brings like it brings more people to your page and some of these people that are bidding on auctions might buy stuff by it now as well so it's good to have both it's good engagement for the eBay store all right let's take a look at one of your listings this is a higher and Anime T Ghost in the Shell so I'm going to look at your title first vintage 1995 Ghost in the Shell anime T-shirt size L fashion victim okay so the title looks pretty good one thing that I would recommend uh for vintage t-shirts is don't only put the date in there so you see how you have vintage 1995 I would actually title that vintage90s and then the date so vintage '90s and then 1995 the only reason why is because a lot of people when they're when they're searching for vintage on eBay they're not putting a particular year they're just going to type in vintage90s or '90s t-shirt or something like that the word t-shirt I would separate that as well put a space in between the T and the shirt size L is fine fashion victim is good okay so that all looks pretty good your price is set to $650 one thing that has helped us in the past when we price out items is we don't like to use whole numbers when we price stuff we usually like to use something like if this was $650 we would price it at $649 97 or $649. 95 that little difference just kind of separates your item from other people that have listed as whole numbers and if you think about it there's a reason why places like like Walmart for example there's a reason why they don't price everything at $10 or $12 if you go into Walmart it's always like $1.
97 $1. 97 there's just like a psychology in people's minds that when they see that that number that little discount there they're more likely to click on it and buy going back to the listing the first picture looks good I like that it is a front and back picture that's not something that you see very often when people list vintage the one thing that I will say is you don't get cuz the picture is so small when you're scrolling through it you don't get like a big graphic right in front of your face initially so I personally and again this is just an opinion of mine I personally would probably put just the front of that t-shirt big in the center of that graphic just as the main picture and then you could do the front and back for the second picture maybe but that's not a big thing and if this is working for you then great it definitely sets your listing apart from other listings out there so maybe that's a good thing one thing that I personally don't like is the the grass background eBay has said that for search they want white backgrounds or off-white backgrounds that green grass background is good for like deop or mcari or places like that but for eBay I would suggest more of like a a a pure white background okay yeah so see like this second picture here I I would actually I would crop this in so that it's right like a big picture of that front graphic it's kind of zoomed out there I would crop it in so it's less of background and more of the actual t-shirt but the actual picture is really good flatlay is nice the t-shirt looks good you are charging shipping which so shipping is one of those things that's that's Up For Debate right we do free shipping on on almost everything that we do unless it's like a really heavy item that's going you know somewhere far then we'll charge shipping but listen on a t-shirt that isn't going to cost you very much money to ship and it's an expensive t-shirt it's $650 to me you know if I'm buying something like that it's like the least you could do is include shipping to you know do free priority shipping on something that that's expensive it's like if I'm paying 600 bucks for something why you taxing me an extra $10 for shipping I don't know it's just I'm a little weird about that it's almost like if I'm selling something on like Instagram for example right if I'm selling something on Instagram and I put a post out there that's hey hey I got this gryl t-shirt it's available for $600 and then someone's like yeah I'll take that and then I go okay it's going to be $610 actually you got to pay an extra $10 for shipping that's just you know that's a little off-putting again do what you want but free shipping also gives you a bit of a boost in eBay search that's from eBay themselves they've said that many times in the past if you do free shipping if you offer free shipping and free returns which we talk about that in a second but free shipping and free returns will give you a little bit of a boost in search So speaking of returns you can see under returns it says seller does not accept returns again you don't have to accept returns but if we're taking if we're taking this t-shirt and let's say we have the exact same t-shirt same size same condition and we are a very similar eBay store so let's say I also have same feedback score same 100% positive feedback and the exact same shirt and you put our two listings side by side let's say yours is $650 plus $10 shipping and and no returns okay and then mine is right next to yours on eBay which this is a rare te so this might not happen but there are multiples of these te's so let's just say this as an example $650 plus $10 shipping no returns and then we have my t-shirt which is the exact same one and I pric it at $649. 95 with free shipping free priority shipping and free 30-day returns of those two which do you feel a buyer is more likely to purchase I I can tell you that 70 plus% of the time if the buyers offered those two options they're going to go with the one that has free shipping and free returns now we sell a lot of clothing on eBay and I can tell you that we offer free 30-day returns and even with us offering that our return rate is less than 2% again you do not have to do free returns but I would suggest having some sort of a return policy at least like 14-day buyer paid returns that's totally fine but having no returns on just in my opinion again it just limits the the type of buyer that is going to purchase from you and also keep in mind that if an item is not as described even if you have no returns on a buyer can still open a return so if a buyer gets this t-shirt and let's say it's it's not as described they can still go to eBay and open a return even though you have no returns on let's keep scrolling down in the listing item specifics your item specifics look great everything is in there item description from the seller I mean I'm assuming you use used the eBay AI to write that for you that's fun I mean it's pretty good I like to uh I like to take the the item title and copy and paste that into the into the description so that's the first thing that they see uh but the AI you know the AI tool has worked well the pit-to-pit measurements and the length measurements so the actual measurements of this t-shirt you have it in the description 21.
75 by 28. 5 very specific which is good see all photos for condition check out my store for more great vintage one thing that I would mention in there is I noticed with this shirt I think there was a hole in it somewhere take a look quick yeah at the bottom there's like a little there's like a little repair it looks like so any flaws like that I would also mention in the description of the listing as well and that'll help you even though you're not doing returns um that'll help you not get get future returns as well one thing that I would suggest including is a a picture of the measurements we have this little board board where we put like the actual we take a picture of the measurements and I only say that cuz some people just don't even click on the description especially people like scrolling on mobile on the mobile app sometimes they're literally just looking at the pictures and the title and then clicking purchase and having those measurements the size and the measurements as an actual picture as part of your listing um that can help increase sales as well because they don't have to go into the description to see if the if the shirt is going to fit them okay let me see if I could notice anything else here let's see okay so this title right here the with the Star Wars t-shirt um just a small thing here but this uh new with tags nwt and then vintage I would move that to later in the title and put Star Wars Episode 1 t-shirt XL I would put that as the first thing in that title and then move vintage to the end and then also vintage 90s vintage 90s is a big search term and I would do that but again your pictures look good one thing that I also suggest not doing like with this listing here you've got this Patagonia jacket Patagonia duck down that's in all caps um eBay has said that they don't like all caps titles like when all of the words are capitalized or all the letters are capitalized in the title doing the first letter of each word Capital works best for for eBay search here's another listing here of a vintage t-shirt again vintage 1996 I would add vintage90s to that and then the picture you know the picture is not bad it looks like you might might need a little bit more lighting for that picture cuz you have you know in and flatlay I think is always better for t-shirts than hanging it cuz you get some wrinkles and stuff when you hang the t-shirts so I like a nice flatlay picture and then also uh Square out your image so a one by one aspect ratio Square image for that first picture is what eBay likes you did use a non-hole number for your price point here I like that um I love that you have best offer on there as well even if you don't accept best offers you don't want to accept best offers on your listings adding best offer as an option does give you again a boost in eBay search so you could set your best offer and then you can put like Auto decline best offers up to a certain price point if you want to we don't even use that though because like we'll sometimes we've listed stuff for you know call it $500 and someone will make an offer of a 100 bucks just to kind of throw it out there and then we'll counter like you know 20 bucks off and then they accept it they just want a little bit off so I don't like Auto decline offers just cuz we've been able to take someone from a really lowball offer and get a sale out of it uh but again that's up to you but I do suggest doing best offer on your items doing best offer also allows you to send out offers which I think is really important for eBay we send out offers on a daily basis on eBay and that definitely helps increase sales and then looking at some of your recent solds on eBay looks good looks really good nice sale on this Patagonia shirt and again see the background I like the background on this one I like the background on this one I don't like the background on this one love the background on this Taz shirt so again to me if you look at the comparison between these two shirts this one looks much more professional in my opinion even though this typo negative sold for quite a bit more money I still think that it's better to put if you took this first image here made it really really nice and big and bold and takes up most of the real estate here on this picture on the Square image I think that's the best way to do it this shirt sold for a good amount of money at auction mainly because it is just like a really rare shirt but yeah other than that I actually think this store is is doing a good job you're listing Well your titles look fine your pictures are good just tweak a little you know a couple little details and I think that'll help you out I think the big things for you would be try doing free shipping on you know especially on the more expensive items try that out see if it helps at all um try offering some sort of a return policy if you want to if you start getting like crazy returns then obviously it's not right for you free return is not right for everybody um but you know try that out and then try that vintage 90s add that into your title instead of just the actual you know 1995 date try doing that vintage 90s hopefully those little things help you out um but other than that store looks store looks great okay store number two before I jump into the store again if you're enjoying this video if you've gained any sort of Knowledge from it please do me a favor hit the thumbs up button that just shows that uh I'm doing a an okay job all right let's jump into store number two okay store number two is called retro kid flips okay first of all love the name I love The Branding it looks really clean you did a good job with the uh the store Banner there and the name's really cool one thing as well if you don't have a store Banner like this this is a small thing it's not like a like a big deal um but if you want to create a store Banner for free we use a website called canva. com they do not pay us to endorse them at all this is not a paid endorsement um it's a free site to use we use it all the time for creating graphics and if you want to go create like a banner for eBay like this the retr kid flips Banner this looks great uh canva you can use that to do that okay so 100% positive feedback again it's actually it's pretty difficult to keep a 100% positive feedback score so that's commendable right there good job you're doing a good job there you have 1.
5000 items sold on eBay again that's great I don't know exactly how old this account is um but it's no joke to sell 1,500 items on Ebay is great you currently have 495 items listed in your store that is a decent amount of items to have listed you've got your feature categories in here that's good looks like you got trolls SpongeBob animation art Hot Wheels Goosebump books okay so the first thing that I can give you a little bit of critique on is those those categories those feature categories they're a little bit too specific in my opinion like you don't really need a SpongeBob animation art as a category you can just have like a an animation art as a category and then you can put all if you get a bunch of different animation art into there trolls again I don't think you need that as a as a category you could have just say a vintage toys category where all of your trolls and other toys go as well okay I'm going to take your items again and I'm going to sort by newly listed so we can see how you are currently listing items and let's dive into these let's take a look I'm going to go to this Harley listing right here let's take a look at this one and if I repeat some of the things from the last store review I'm sorry but it uh hopefully this this helps out a little bit but let's dive into this so the first thing I noticed Harley Shovelhead Evo all of this is full caps again first letter of the word capitalize that's fine but try to keep like all caps out of your title eBay doesn't really like that too much price is great again you've gone under that whole number so instead of listing it for $12 you listed it for $11. 89 which is great you have best offer on that's awesome shipping you're charging for shipping so this is a prime example right here right so this exact same item $11. 89 plus an additional $4.
89 shipping so let's round up and call it uh let's call $16 between the shipping and the cost of the item so if I was listing this item and I wanted $16 for it I would list it for $15.
