now a new piece of artwork at London Zoo has been confirmed as belonging to Banky marking his ninth artwork in the capital in nine days the new piece is located on a shutter at the entrance to London Zoo it shows a gorilla lifting the shutter to release a seal and birds while other animals appear to look on from the inside uh the graffiti campaign began last week when an IEX goat appeared near Cube bridge that isn't it that's some fish that was some fish which appeared in a police t telephone box at the weekend there
are also murals of elephants uh like this one we've seen monkeys there they are on a bridge in London there's also a wolf that appeared uh on a satellite dish then disappeared this cat stretching and cricklewood which also disappeared quite quickly uh and also some Pelicans which appeared on a fish and chip shop uh so it's been a busy few days uh for Banky joining me now as our arts and entertainment correspondent Katie Spencer all animal themed nine in a row what's it about what's it about who knows uh no I meant to say a
bit more than that aren't I um it's been a wonderful distraction since August the 5th since these animals have started cropping up um the question is look is this drawing everything to a close it would seem like perhaps this is the the final Banky that we're going to see as part of its Art Trail because has this gorilla been the question is for you Jan has he been letting the animals out or is he welcoming the animals home is it about finding a place of sa this is where the animals have come from or going
to that's the question are they going to a place of safety or are they uh yes escaping from even captivity is it saying something about Freedom the thing is um look I guess with all great Street AR it's something that that makes you sing can sort of pose his questions and throughout this whole Art Trail that Banky has delivered there's been people trying to kind of work out what the deeper meaning is and try to to figure out what the explanation is the only thing that we've had from uh banksy's support organization Pest Control Office
they've reportedly said that that it's not that deep that it is just Banksy saying that it's a time when we've got such Bleak news headlines such um destruction going on in the world that he wants to cheer people up a bit and there's no doubt that actually throughout the course of this Art Trail that he's laid on he absolutely has cheered people up and I think part of the fun isn't it is to figure out what a meaning is that's what all good art does we try and put meaning onto it because he's been political
I mean he has been political and we saw him you know him launching that boat with with stuffed dummies in a you know pretend to be migrants over the the crowds of people at glastenbury he's certainly done political art in the past but I mean you know it's it's the summer taking the kids to the zoo is a nice thing to do is is that as deep as it gets and I mean as well if it is saying something about captivity actually London Zoo is one of the biggest investors in terms of conservation so I
can't imagine that it's having ago at London Zoo or anything but it is yeah it's drawn in so many people it's also created problems along the way health and safety issues with people having to take down Billboards and what have you um but it's Banky he's done it again he's got us all talking he's cheered us up this summer is he perhaps oversaturated I mean by by doing this string of sort of free art over the summer that we've all uh been talking about him every single day but I would argue that he um he's
one he he is probably the most famous graffiti artist in the world he uh he undoubtedly has got us all talking and cheered us up okay Katie thank you very much
