KRS One A Discussion On Character

All right well I won't waste too much your time here I could go into a long bio but if you're here right now I figured you already know who this guy is and if you don't already know who is by the time you leave you're not gonna forget him so without any further ado please join me in giving a warm welcome to the stage to K rs1 yes yes yes please be seated please we are gonna get right to the Point usually I start out with questions but I'm gonna just get right to it because

um it's very important that you're here today it's and you know most speakers would say huh thank you for coming out it's so important that you're here today la la la la la but the point the real point is is that it really is important that you are here today and here's why because when you actually you're trying to be successful in life and when I say trying to be as opposed To actually being a become highly trying to me what you think you want to be successful at what you do most people think you

got to get hooked up you got to know the right people you got to have some money you got even having education you got to have some knowledge all of that's not true what you're gonna learn today is the secret to success is character character and you showing up here today proves your character more than anything Else yesterday I had a phenomenal time on stage it was just crazy I was just doing my thing I thought that was gonna be it I ended this show and bam here comes the mayor with the key to this

city that's a high honor for me I had to just humble myself quickly to that one and and I thank you the city for that but I tell you this all the people that were out there out of all the people we all had a good time people got the message they Got the songs they know what it was but when we said higher knowledge is being discussed tomorrow only you showed up big respect to everybody out there yesterday no doubt but what I'm talking about here is character who are you really when the word

of god is out front and Senate are you listening when wisdom is being spoken by an elder are you listening when a book manages to just fall in your lap and it has the title you've been Looking for are you reading it knowledge comes to every body but everyone ain't a student the teacher is always around you Pass teaches all day but you just can't see it and not you because you're here others that really are sincere about their success in life they're really sincere they still didn't come here today and this is the point

only those who are what I would call spiritually minded those whose soul is open those who are seeking truth that's why you're Here sure you enjoyed the concert but your soul knew that there was something else you needed to know everybody didn't need to know this what I'm gonna give you today it's not for everyone people always say well don't you want to sell the most wreckage or the biggest crowd now not really not if you're discussing success success is I'd rather sell a hundred records to the right people than a million records to the

wrong people What is a million records to the wrong people just anybody I put my record I want to shake your booty to the ground million people buy that of course it's just hypest music but if you sell to the right hundred people 20 years later you get the key to the city somewhere along the line the mayor of your city picked up k RS he was one of the hundred people so we're going to discuss today character from a deep level and I hope you get it in your head What I'm discussing is ten

thousand year old knowledge it's not in really any books I'm trying to write my books quickly so that this can be out but right now you're not gonna find any you're not gonna find it DVDs or whatever they hint toward it but again this knowledge is not for everyone it's only for those that deserve it you're here you deserve this let's get started first and foremost like I said this is nine Thousand year old knowledge why nine thousand years well most of us believe that our history begins in the country in which were get it

twisted most people believe that well their history begins in whatever nation they're in and that's cool for national history but when you start talking about success you're gonna have to get something beyond your national history your family history the history of your specific city block or even your Town you got to get beyond that why is it important to discuss 9,000 year old history because that's where you're really from for us black people our history does not begin at 1619 Jamestown Virginia that's the lie this is what we've been taught as a national identity all

white people owning slaves in Virginia too is alive that's what we've all been taught as a national identity do you realize that there are more people in prison today then that all the Slaves before the Civil War - 1800s a man just stop for minute all of slavery in the early part of the eighteen hundred's still didn't have as many people in prison today we have more slaves today than when you think slavery was you know the prison systems a slave system you know that so while we all going in there character character some of

us are set up straight up President Barack Obama just released who knows how many inmates I had heard Him do it twice 6,000 from federal prison a couple of hundred from state prisons around the world and what did they come up with they said that they found out that certain cities were actually targeting all communities not just black all communities were being targeted for tickets so that the sort of the city could make money on on the tickets the Justice Department figured it out and said most of these people who are in prison don't even

supposed to be There six thousand people just got released but you gotta ask yourself whether you've been in prison not been in prison or if you feel you're on your way what's your character you could be in prison that doesn't mean prison is in you you could be free and still be an inmate walking around here today I see prisoners walking around all the time sometimes I go to the 7-eleven you know this isn't got my soda and a little water and the person taking my money is A prisoner how do I know that character

the way you approach me the way you talk to me the way you deal with me I know where you're going the first few words out your mouth I could size up your whole character the things you're attracted to you I could size up your whole character I could tell your whole future just based on what your character is attracted to 10,000 years ago there was a place called cush one of the greatest Civilizations on the planet cush was an African civilization it was a queendom was run by women the women that ran cush will

call ken decays these women were special they could see the future they talked to the dead they were mediums they talked to the dead they were seers they could see the future predict the fusion age to talk to birds they used to look at the way birds fly and then they could tell you what was about to go down in that land these Were real people some still exist today but because psychic abilities and so on have been so commercialized somebody says yo I'm a psychic guy get out of here you don't really know psychic

ability and being able to see the future talk to the dead mediumship this was your original talent this is what was taken away from us or reversed now we believe that to talk to the dead is some kind of devil-worship to be able to read someone else's mind Are you some kind of weirdo but if you don't have these skills you will not be successful you look at any successful person dig up the history figure it out somewhere along the line he was on a knees hands clenched whatever God they praise they were praising whatever

nobody gets here by not true means the more you stay natural the more you're going to be locked into natural law the more you stay our average human being I'm just average ain't nothing special About me sometimes we call that humility no that's called failure I know buddy I'm just me 9,000 years ago there was a kingdom called cush and the candidates taught young children how to be gods we don't teach how to be gods anymore because the Western society in which we live in says it that's blasphemy the worst thing you can do in

a religious setting is call yourself God you want to get kicked out of a church a mosque or a synagogue quickly stand up And say I am God you go to the Bible John chapter 10 and you get a chance let's read the whole story but John chapter 10 begins the story where the Jewish elders of course angry with Jesus because of his teachings they come to him and they say it comes from with stones they said we're gonna kill you right now we're gonna stone you right now we got big breaks we're gonna hit

your head with it Jesus says for a good work or should I say this let me go back They say for good works that's not what we stone in you for we know you heal the sick we know you may may blind people see we know that she do these works that nobody else can do we know this but the reason we want to kill you is because you say you God see we Christians are walking around praising Jesus Jesus Jesus never asks for praise there's nowhere in the Bible that Jesus says praise me no

where Jesus said imitate me do what I do talk I talk Match my character this is what the lesson was Jesus taught the lesson what was the lesson Jesus said if you ever want to see somebody following me take a look at what they're doing and he quickly went over to one of his disciples and started tie in a shoes started oil in a feet people would come around and say but master you're the master it's the servant but you're the teacher that's the student what you're the boss that's The employee what what were you

on your knees time is this person shoes or oil in a fee Jesus said this is what my disciples look like to be truly King you must be a servant those walking around claiming King or those are the true servants that's why the the Western culture says that politics those are joint politics what they call them public servants that's their real title public servant because to rule means you have to serve Highly the head like this building right here okay this building the one who is really in charge of this building is the one that

protects it the one that cleans it up the one that repairs it those are the true rulers that are builded not the owner of the university no the person it sweeps up after we leave that's the true authority here so I give you this piece first on character just slope peace without the soul there is no success what is success you want to go from the Position you're in to a whole nother position if you're independent it needs to be a saying that says if you always do what you always done you'll always get what

you always got but then it stops there it doesn't go any further okay so here I am in my environment I want to get out I want to do something better with myself I know I'm more than what it is right now how do I get past the environment that I'm in right now well first you have to become beyond the Environment you're in beyond I'll say it again you are here in this environment you want to be successful which means you're not comfortable in the environment you're in the environment you're in it's poverty environment

in sickness hatred ignorance just the environment you said I want to get out of that how do you get out of that first you have to think pass it if you keep agreeing with it you're never gonna get out of it if you keep Saying that your environment is real this is my real life G this how I'm really live in you may be right but your technique for success is wrong sure you're standing in a place where nothing's going on no ones are no opportunity anywhere but this is the meaning of success this is

what the miracle is there was no way to get out I had no money no nothing but somehow I got out only supernatural forces can do that only a knowledge that is beyond the Material world can make can get you out of the material world can make you successful beyond the material world you need new knowledge whatever you don't have is not because you're poor it's because you don't know knowledge begins wealth not money nobody with money ever made money money don't make money knowledge makes money when you know something like if you knew right

now we're a million dollars was you wouldn't be here You'll be like good looking crest I know there's a million dollars for me records I know but the problem is we don't know and even worse than that those that do know keep the knowledge from us poverty is not about money it's about awareness I'll give you a small story our diverse for digress for a minute so I'm homeless in this shelter I left home when I was like 15 my mother taught me the greatest knowledge in the world Knowledge of myself I was raised on

that my mother was in the 60s heavy Malcolm X uses always at the lectures when he was giving lectures in Harlem she was there she claimed to be part of the Black Panthers I never saw the black blazer but I grew up in African Studies my mother always put that on us so I became 15 school no longer worked for me my mother was telling me that I that my ancestry was in the United States or should I say my ancestry was in the Americas 5,000 years ago we would call the Olmecs we were already

in Mexico start a Mexican culture before the Incas before the mines before the Aztecs black people were in Mexico 25,000 ton heads a black fault right there in Mexico my mother was showing me that I'm like 13 I go to school the teacher is like well Christopher Columbus discovered America and your history begins with slavery I go back home mom they telling me this this and this and you telling me This this and this what's the truth she said what I'm telling you is the truth but I need you to go to school I couldn't

understand that I left home at 15 my mother was destroyed we started arguing over her knowledge true story I'm 16 now I'm out in the street in the hood Brooklyn it's like 83 somewhere around 82 I'm running up and down Brooklyn Prospect Park you know Wingate Park Erasmus High School those that know Brooklyn Flatbush Church Avenue I'm running up and down them streets sleeping outside I get on the D train I take the D train up and down sleep on the train sleep in the park this is where I was but I never forgot what

my mother told me and I loved the knowledge so in the daytime I would go to the Brooklyn Public Library because if he was outside the truant officers would see you and grab you need to take you home or take you to school And worse than the truant officers where the gangs see when I was growing up the gangs were not like today you didn't even fear the cops you felt you feared the gangs the gangs without your blood but you ain't in school for this is gang members full jacking it up rag up you

walk past the gang house they go yell blood what you doing you better get back to school whoa no the gangs used to police the community they were coming off the Black Panther party's ideas just looked at a long time to go into it now but most of the East Coast even way most of the gangs in America from 1965 to 1975 these were the community leaders well I had to dodge them dodge the cops the truant officer so I ran into the Brooklyn Public Library you could be there all day if you got a

book in front so I pulled down our estado what do you got to say oh he said that the Greeks are the greatest people In the world and they should be enslaving everybody house word Aristotle I went from it went over to Socrates went over the Plato went open all these people came up you know Rene Descartes 17 said Francis Bacon I'm sitting in about 7 all 16 I'm reading up on these philosophers and I like what they're saying I actually had a mind for it I could actually understand what they were saying and what

they were saying was so racist I kept looking and digging for Other stuff I can't look like here Peter nah nah let me look over here let me get card Emmanuel Kant let me just deal with him damn he races to Dan let me go over here the need she need she what's up Nietzsche come on man he races to and lost his mind at the end of his life so then I started digging further my mother said but wait the Greeks learned from the Africans why don't you go back and try to find that

None of that was in the library no well my mom's was talking was not in the library I'm like mom will you get these books mom had to go to the Eldar that was selling tapes books on the corner and they had the books the library didn't even have but I got a chance to see Western philosophy I got a chance to see what it was and I came across this thing called metaphysics it was a branch of philosophy that deals with reality it deals with time-space essence being why Are you not who are you

why are you so I got into metaphysics and through metaphysics I bumped into this place called Alexandria which was one of the greatest metaphysical college or just one of the greatest colleges for knowledge on the African continent and when I got over to Alexandria then I got to Africa now mind you take a side note here I tried to study Egypt but when I was studying Egypt they said Egypt wasn't in Africa see see reminder we Going back some of y'all might remember um the Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston and you know Charleston has to

be in a white man and and your Brennan Oh white men others were there so we grew up believing that Egyptians were white and when you go to school you learn that either's Egypt and then there's Africa so when I got to this place callings Andrea started studying routers in Timbuktu Oh world start looking at some Maps all this in the Brooklyn Public Library by the way stop there was a thousand of the kids that were also playing hooky from school to get to the library you had to pass the liquor store basketball courts drunk

spots all that I saw it all it just didn't match my character again I was in mix saw it all in the hood like everybody else just didn't match my character I was seeking knowledge I wanted to know the truth at A young age so I sort of liquor store but it but I didn't I didn't I didn't need that yet I notice I said yeah I saw it it just wasn't there for me and I said let me just move on I'm on my way to the tenth to the library this is where my

character is leaving me - I get that stop pulling books huh start learning days go by eight hours go by on one book you're like wow time flies learning how often do we pass by our own operates you say I want to be successful And then we do everything against our own success we go everywhere where we're not going to be successful than we say we want to be successful the library is free I eventually left school at the eighth grade I got dropped out I um I got dropped down I got left back in

the eighth grade then I got left back again in the eighth grade I said man this ain't for me straight D student FS all the way down my report card absent Absent absent absent when I was there failed but I loved the library that was my place terrible at school I educated myself taught myself what I needed to know now I teach at Harvard twice a year Yale don't stop calling me big up the Spellman man vasa Morehouse you name it we've done over five six seven hundred universities in my lifetime I don't even have

a high school diploma I got honorary PhD snow I got three of them three you can call me dr. Parker But I don't feel I earned them the professor's were just blown away at my books not even my art they don't care about that in the university got to be a scholar but I realized the word I was Auto dying that dict is what they call it autodidactic self toy as I was studying philosophy I realized Aristotle was self-taught played all these dudes all the great thinkers were self-taught started going a little further I said

You know what if I'm going to be successful don't I need to teach myself say it again if I'm going to be successful I'm going to have to educate myself no one else is going to teach me how to be successful America is about competition not cooperation so you enter the educational system you're entering a system of competition the system's not really interested in you being successful the sister educational system I was highlighted in you responding to Authority the educational system says respond to Authority reflexively they say jump how high anytime you see a dirty

suppose look if you get past that then education is about getting a job what is education preparing you for the workforce and that's the heights of Education I'm talk about the highest level of education is for you to get a job that's horrible That's horrible what a crime against your mind today he's gonna learn how to get out of that I digress for a little bit just to show you a little bit of my background yeah you're talking you're looking at a high school dropout I never women what am I talking about high school dropout

I'm a junior high school dropout I never been in high school take that in how now is a K rs1 knowledge race of knowledge Sabri character Character now that many degrees you got what's your character what's your soul like what are you gravitating sward shorties throw your hands in the air but now it's time to sit down and learn who's here now we're gonna see the true gods at a city now now we could really see the future of the city it's here so character is about soul no soul no character this is why it

is always good To have a spiritual background it's good to have a spiritual background yes it is because the spiritual background gives you character if nothing else notice how they took the Ten Commandments out of society crime rate went up ACLU says that the 10 commandments in the public is against separation of church and state no at no time in human history was the state ever separated from the church America is the first time in human history you get a Separation of government and spirit or soul or religion America's only place to do that the

only place everybody else you can't rule without God the people got to know your God force first then you could be the president the king the queen whatever only America says we are above God only America does this we are above God we have something called a state and Annie got nothing to do with God we can exist without God this is how we're Being taught now if you are a spiritual person this is destroying your soul you may not feel it you may not even know it you may not even see it but you're

living in an environment that's eating away at your soul more than half the American population is depressed again more than half of the American population is depressed sad hopeless we go to church all the time Church trip when I get in nun school when I get in nothing MA Synagogues Muslims going through the same thing Jews going through the same thing and a Jewish brother telling me the other day said man when I go to synagogue I feel like I'm in McDonald's it was just aggravated you know with with the money talk the money talked

the money talk there's like what happened to the Kabbalah one of the greatest spiritual scripts ever written the Kabbalah dig that word up to with homework look That up Kabbalah Jewish knowledge your knowledge so now let's get deep 9,000 years ago you got cush you couldn't be a part of cush unless you had cush character most people today black people we walked around some of us no curse some of us know Egypt some call it Kemet some of us know cush we call it Nubia some of us know you know but all of these are

to the movies so Lawrence of Arabia see how you mother's do whole life my mother went to saw Lawrence of Arabia when it first came out she said I want my son to be like that she named me Lawrence Lawrence last name Parker that's what it was so when Someone came up to me and said what's your name my name is Larry Lawrence so Lawrence and Larry started to create my beam Lawrence and Larry had no meaning so my being had no meaning all right I thought I had meaning what do you crime Larry but

what does that mean what is a Larry what is a Lawrence what what is that when I realized this little piece that your name is your nature or rather your nature is your name when I realize that little piece The first thing I had to do to gain success was changed my name Larry was broken poor Larry was homeless Larry was living in the street riding the D train up and down from Brooklyn to Queens that's Larry Larry had a lot a reality then I woke up yo I want to do this thing called hip-hop

there was no hair plug there's no rap there was nothing it's about 1977 I was about 13 when it hit me toe they in the park doing it you Can get a tape here's somebody rapping on a cassette Gong boxes with a thing back then people use some of the young people it might not know this we used to walk around with big radios on the shoulder holding it down like this and we blast the music all through society imagine a dude walking down the street with a radio and it's blasting music yo you don't

stop a keyboard to the break the door shaquiesha in all of this and we got a Big boom bah I saw older people walking around with the boombox my ear would go up know who that that sound like melly-mel oh oh that that sound like church history oh that but now I looked at them I said they successful what's they name kool Moe Dee what's a cool what would be special que la sunshine we never been I thought la meant like Larry Anderson sunshine it wasn't until I got the Los Angeles there are real la

Los Angeles sunshine oh we Got was LA sunshine at the drop of the dime not only dandy want first thing I learned through hip-hop to be successful you got to change your name when you change your name you change your nature I went from Larry to knowledge reigning supreme started right there I said you know this would I lie I like knowledge I like learning I'm gonna name myself knowledge reigns supreme just like man sitting under tree So where it comes from well I can see some eyes I could say to you right now you

know man in front of podium man teaching lesson that's my name right now that that's what I'm caught that's what it is so I said knowledge reigns supreme that's what's gonna be on my life that's what I want to be that's what's gonna be right there that's my reality that's my nature the second I changed my name my reality changed how did he change my Perception changed the environment didn't change I did when I changed the environment changed here's the example 9,000 years ago cush I'm gonna keep going back to this these have a thing

called a mystery system ancient Egyptian kushai really Egyptian or they call Egyptian mysteries comedic knowledge Kemetic sciences the Greeks would come years later to this and they would look and see on the walls of Africa African temples they would say They would say know thyself on the wall and of course would be an African language the point would be know thyself the foreigners would come and read and say know thyself right you got to know yourself the priests would laugh at the Greek would walk by it just says know thyself that's all I need you

just told me what it was know thyself that's easy to understand know thyself house Harley I kept a million people out Of the knowledge young kid will come up what does that say the priest would say know thyself the young kid would acts like a kid would acts what do you mean [Music] right there two priests would see the character again little kid run up matter of fact three kids run up what does that mean what does that say it says know thyself young lads one kid says what do you mean the other kids say

come on Larry let's go the priest would then say hold up you two y'all can go you stand over here do you really want to know what that means young kid would say yeah I'd like to know what that means the priest would say come back in seven years come back and 7:00 you never entered the school the moment you went the moment you went to the school you were an inch you weren't allowed in you went to the school the priest saw your character and Said you can make it come back in seven years

that young kid would have that on his mind now seven years seven years I'm going back I'm going to this hey we go back to his parents and parents were like wow they actually invited you in this school yeah I got to go back in seven years mom Wow so mom would keep you on that dad would keep you on that seven years son you going you slip off the path but your parents would be there for you Seven years come now you go back to the priests what does that mean the priest would say

well here's the Ten Commandments actually what was called the 42 negative confessions in Africa got condensed down to ten commands it used to be I have not killed today I have not stolen today I have not lied today that was adopted by Western you know philosophers turned into Christianity and now you get the ten come even Judaism doesn't preach the Tank commanders these are all English translations Western philosophy breaks it down to ten commandments thou shalt not kill don't kill don't steal but what we don't realize not as being forced on you you don't realize

that this was your these were not laws the Ten Commandments were never laws they were never Commandments they were a character it was the character you had to have to enter the temple when you go before the priest you would say I have not stolen I Have not killed in seven years I have not sinned I have done nothing I have lived this out for seven years and the priests would say you have the right character come on in now when you're in they say now what does that mean now you get sit down it

would call you a a neophyte you would come in sit down here's the first lesson you would get matter of fact I'll do it as an exercise it'll speed us up ups give you the knowledge Here's what she'd learned 9,000 years ago in an ancient temple here's how you learn exactly I would go down you see that up there it says know thyself you say yes I've been watching this now for seven years can you tell me what it means now the priest would tell you this let's do to exercise ourselves you can see exactly

light within it the voice that speaks without the mouth the site that sees past present and future is you the ears that hear those that those are the emcees or singers you know what you write in your rhymes are you writing your songs you hear them First it's like someone is telling you you're right it's like you humming it out you always do this first because there's no words you're getting a vibration from somewhere else and you're trying to translate the spirit world into your material world so you're like yeah criminal mind is you've been

blinded looking for a style like yeah when you're writing you hear first you you you don't come up but you don't just sit down say criminal minded you've been Blinded no you sit you gotta go somewhere first these eyes shut down and this other site takes over and you start seeing yourself emceeing saying do it all kind of so that's how you get the right now you hearing something seeing some that's not in front of your face the ancient priests would say to you look if you can see without your eyes if you can hear

without your ears if you can speak without your mouth then when All of this drops off you're still doing the same thing speaking seeing and hearing you're speaking seeing and hearing is not connected to the body when the body drops off the inner you continues on it's the inner you that is creating the outer you not the other way around so the ancient priests would tell you son daughter there is no death they would say to you as you coming into the temple you're Already dead everybody else trying to save their life they will tell
