it's been a strange old year hasn't it hopefully it's been good for you not bad for me I turned 34 uh I made 75 videos and actually next February is the 10year anniversary of the tech chat we should do something for it but just but rather than looking backwards I want to share with you what I'm most excited about in 2025 my top 10 Tech launches and couple of the bits that is coming soon so what am I looking forward to well number one a switch two we know it's coming and it's Poss even in
production right now for a late spring early summer release but there are all sorts of leaks and rumors flying around some showing new larger joycons and some accessory makers I've shown some 3D CAD models this is all unofficial although my Spidey senses tell me that it's probably quite close to what we'll eventually see and rumor has it we're getting a new soup toop Nvidia Tegra s so and Tegra now very much seems to be just the switch chip along with 12 GB of lpddr 5x Ram a much larger screen thanks to slim down bezels a
second USBC port on the top and also support for much faster SD cards I am looking forward to a switch to but I am also managing my expectations that it's probably not going to be a revolutionary product like this was it's just going to be a refinement a little bit faster a little bit nicer design hopefully nicer screen and I'm crossing my fingers for OLED but we'll have to see maybe a high refresh rate as well we just don't know enough yet but certainly you can look forward to a switch to probably in the first
half of next year and sticking with handhelds we're also expecting updated versions of these gaming PCs this is the steam de goed MSI have already shown off their new claw 7 and Claw 8 using Intel's latest Intel Core Ultra Series 2 chips which I'm looking forward to testing but we are also due new and much more powerful AMD ryzen zed 2 extreme chips so perhaps a new steam deck 2 maybe an ally 2 from Rog we got Legion goto there's a lot of great handhelds out there but they've all been stuck with this kind of
first generation Hardware in terms of the chip they've used since launch so I think a Z2 Z2 extreme I think 2025 is going to be a really exciting year for handhelds not just in performance but also crucially battery life and better screens including some more High refresh OLED options and hopefully vrr across the board although I think what I'm most excited about would be a steam deck 2 possibly towards the end of the year by then the original steam deck will feel very long in the tooth although there is a chance it could be pushed
to 2026 because I think valve actually have some pretty big plans to compete with the traditional console Market will we see an Xbox handheld next year I mean it would be great wouldn't it power of Series S and I really nice Microsoft Surface style Xbox device but I'm not holding my breath for 2025 next up new graphics cards this gets the proper nerdy juices flowing and the good news is the update is imminent we're expecting nidia's new 5,000 series of cards to be announced at CES so first couple of weeks of January and then hopefully
a launch not too long after that you could have yourself a 5090 by the end of January assuming you have some pretty Deep Pockets although you know as usual we'll have a 5090 probably 5080 and then 5070 they genuinely launched the higher end SKS first but I think and this is just speculation that we may see both desktop and laptop next gen cards coming out at the same time and it's not just Nvidia AMD is also due to launch their new radon RX 8000 series of cards based on their new rdna 4 Graphics Tech and
the rumors suggest that AMD will be catching up with the outgoing Nvidia RTX 40 series cards in terms of raid tracing performance but doing so while using a whole lot less power than those outgoing 7900 cards but in terms of like the super duper top of the line well I think the 50/90 is going to hold that and if the rumors are to be believed it's probably going to be the most power hungry and also most expensive consumer graphics card ever and as I say this should also mean a whole new generation of gaming laptops
with new mobile gpus at CES as well so if you are considering a new build now or buying a new laptop then maybe it's just worth holding off a few weeks even if you don't go for the new series of cards it will no doubt make everything before that cheaper as well okay next up I want to talk about these things these are new X real one glasses you maybe seen my video on this I've also been reviewing these for a few years now the XR ones are the newest generation building on last air2 and
air2 pro and if you're not familiar basically they're just a big screen in front of your face they call them AR glasses but it's not really augmented reality you plug in one USBC into the side of the glasses and then your other side into your phone your laptop your games console your steam deck whatever you like and then it just mirrors the screen in up to a about 200ish in display around 4 M away in front of your face like that and they have this electrochromic dimming so you can actually dim the glasses so it
sort of blocks out most of the light really really cool Tech but definitely not augmented reality uh but what I'm most excited about is not these XR 1es which you can buy now is the xr1 pros which are coming in the first few months of 2025 which are going to boost the feel of view from 50° to 57 boost the brightness from I think 600 nits to 700 nits and they'll be using a brand new Sony lens which I'm told are flat rather than triangular which I'm hoping really hoping will cut down on the glare
because that is one of the issues you have with this you get quite a bit of ambient glare coming into the glasses even with the dimming and they're also going to be coming out with what they're calling an xre i a modular camera that you can just clip on to either the xre ones or the XR one Pros turning them more into like a meta rayb band so you can actually film with them and XR have also said they'll be integrating AI within the glasses which could be really interesting uh combined with that camera later
in the year so while these are still definitely worth checking out for me I'm excited for the xri one Pros in 2025 now Switching gears completely and for me and I think probably you and most of the world one of the most anticipated launches at the end of 2025 is of course Grand Theft Auto 6 my expectations are pretty damn high and for someone who loved Vice City I'm very excited to see their new take on Miami and the other reason I'm excited for GTA 6 is I might finally be able to put this to
good use the PS5 Pro which has had a bit of a mixed launch I mean it's £700 without the disc drive that's not optional extra and in a lot of cases the difference just isn't that significant and you have to get right up to your TV to really pixel Peep and see the difference in other games much more significant doubling the frame rate increasing the dynamic resolution and I think as we see developers optimized for the pro over the next few months we will see more and more games take advantage of it right now I
don't think anyone should really buy a PS5 Pro although the flip side of that is try building a desktop PC with similar performance for $699 as well I don't think you can do it but 2025 more optimized games and GTA 6 and hopefully by that point you might see some deals and discounts as well so maybe this could be worth it later next [Music] year do we have to talk about AI it's just such a weird mess right now isn't it we got co-pilot PCS we've got Gemini and apple intelligence you got chat gbt you've
got Sora it's such a sort of vague mess what AI is and this is all down to companies marketing saying basically anything that uses I don't know an algorithm anything that you traditionally call Smart is now ai power the marketing of AI has been terrible but I think 2025 actually is going to be a pretty revolutionary year genuinely so firstly because the hardware is there now the mpus and all the new chips for phones and laptops and desktops and this race to the top of the tops the trillion operations per second all this sort of
Hardware has come in so that everyday consumer Tech is now capable of to some extent leveraging AI whether it's the sense of offloading tasks that would be done on the CPU or the GPU on your laptop to an mpu and giving you longer battery life but also what I think is going to be much more exciting is this revolution of agentic AI you know what we'd call personal assistance but just a billion times more useful we're still going to see a lot of fluff I think one of the most frustrating rollouts of quote unquote AI
this year has been Apple intelligence the fact that it's been such a trickle of new features and different countries and different regions get different options and we still haven't seen the best stuff like onscreen contextual awareness so you can ask Siri you know based on what's on the screen to do something and I have to say I am still blown away every time I use chat GP that's actually what I've assigned the action button for on my iPhone but I have to say this year has been the first year where I've really felt Ai and
I think specifically chat GPT has fundamentally changed the way I interact with devices let me just give you an example I was talking to my brother yesterday uh we're talking about the phrase uh it's giving you know traditionally you might say oh it's giving something Vibes but I just said in a conversation it's giving without saying The Vibes so he was like don't you have to say Vibes at the end of it so I said well let's ask chat GPT good morning how's your day going so far it's good now tell me the difference if
I say the phrase it's giving versus it's giving Vibes can you say them both is one better than the other what how would you recommend it it's giving is usually used to describe the vibe or energy of something for example it's giving cozy on the other hand it's giving Vibes is a bit redundant because Vibes already captures that idea so you could say that 2025 is giving AI okay enough of that giving wanky nonsense moving on to my next most anticipative release and that is not anything on this table it's what's out there or actually
isn't out there yet the new Tesla Model y refresh code Nam Juniper which we had hoped would come in 2024 a late Q4 release or at least announcement but no like the switch to it seems they've pushed it to next year I've had my Tesla Model y for about 2 and a half years now and while I don't always love Elon let's just leave that there I definitely love the why and as great as it is for the price in my opinion at least there's always room for improvement which is why as I say I'm
very excited for this new project Juniper refresh expected to be similar to the model 3 Highland update that we had about a year ago we're expecting an improved suspension so a smoother ride longer range a sleeker look with Slimmer headlights and tail lights a more premium interior with mood lighting along with heated and ventilated seats I would definitely like that in a model Y and also like the updated three a rear screen in the back the only thing I'm not looking forward to though is that they're probably going to get rid of the stalks around
the steering wheel which I have used I have driven a model 3 Highland and you will get used to it over time but I do not think it's an upgrade in any sense possibly even more exciting though are the rumors of a more affordable well around 25k $330,000 super minized Tesla Model Q now we don't know if it will definitely be called the model q and right now it looks like it could be China only at least for the time being obviously not everyone's the biggest fan of Tesla cars but hopefully at least it will
encourage other manufacturers to give us better more affordable electric cars so a new model y would be very nice but so would a new iPhone se4 it's very much due an update and there are strong rumors I would be amazed if we didn't see an se4 in the first half of next year I mean who doesn't love an SE it's basically as close as you'll get to a budget iPhone and this will be the first new SE we've seen since 2022 I very much doubt it'll hit the same 429 price tag but even for $4.99
5.49 perhaps it's still a heck of a lot less than the current cheapest iPhone the 16 which will cost you £800 and we're expecting an a18 chip along with 8 GB of RAM for all the Apple intelligence goodness and also might be the first iPhone to get Apple's new in-house design modem which apparently will save a lot of internal space and power meaning these new models will still have good battery life but also can be a lot Slimmer and smaller and speaking of Slimmer and stall staller the new iPhone 17 a is heavily rumored to
replace this guy the current iPhone 16 plus which as much as I like this apparently has not been selling very well so in addition to iPhone 17 and the pro and the pro Max we may get this new iPhone 17 air which could be a full 2 MIM thinner possibly making the thinnest iPhone they've ever made I mean sure I'm excited to see what they do with an air iPhone but I also don't know why I need my phone to be thinner there is nothing wrong with this we'll see obviously maybe they've got some other
tricks up their sleeve but you tell me drop a comment below would a thinner iPhone be a selling point for you to upgrade I'm not sure but still new iPhone se4 first half of the year and in the second half of the year of course the iPhone 17 series possibly with this new fancy air version now if we're talking about phones we have to mention the new upcoming s25 Series this will likely be launching in the end of January uh the rumors are sort of 20th to the 25th perhaps for the unpacked launch event so
you'll probably be able to get your hands on a new s25 Plus or Ultra first couple of weeks of February most likely in terms of what we can expect well Snapdragon 8 Elite chips which of course will the 8 gen 3 we have currently and possibly an overclocked Snapdragon 4 Galaxy version of the chip we're also expecting a slight update to the design particularly on the s25 ultra which is going to take these very sharp boxy corners and round them off it's also expected to be a little bit thinner and lighter which I would definitely
appreciate and also hopefully a bigger battery nothing confirmed there yet but a 5,000 Mah cell in 20125 Flagship phones would definitely be on the lower end most of the new high-end phones we're seeing are going for 55 up to 6,000 mamps 16 gigs of RAM could be the new standard and of course we're going to get a whole bunch of more AI features what I'm less excited about and has become a bit of a bone of contention is the cameras because Samsung has basically used the same Hardware the same sensors for the last two generations
of phones and if the rumors are to be believed they'll be using this again of course the processing improves the ISP on the at chip will you know unlock some new features but at a certain point we just need newer bigger sensors we may see an upgrade ated 50 megap Ultra wide on the phones but everything else could be the same Hardware next year is also shipping up to be a big year for Apple not just on the iPhone front we're also expecting new updated M4 powered MacBook airs also a new 11th gen iPad the
base model which I think for most people is the one to go for because it does everything you need for an iPad and doesn't cost a fortune and the rumors are we'll get a pretty big bump in performance from the A14 up to the a18 processor which of course will give us Apple intelligence as well they want everything to have apple elligence as well as faster Wi-Fi more RAM I think the new 11th gen iPad could be a really big upgrade so new iPhones new MacBooks new iPads but also on the desktop side we haven't
had an update to the uh Mac Studio or the Mac Pro desktop PCS we're going to see those with M4 Pro Max and probably M4 Ultra chips but what I would be more excited for excuse me is an update to the displays the 27in studio display I've got there and also the 32in pro display xdr I think it's called uh we haven't had an update to these guys for years and because Apple have introduced Thunderbolt 5 to the higher end versions of the MacBook Pro and also the new Mac Mini speaking of which I think
this new Mac Mini may be my tech device of the year for 2024 although we're not expecting a refresh in 2025 because this just came out but the higher spec model does support Thunderball 5 so we may see updated displays with high resolutions High refresh rates which I'll be very excited for and finally I've seen a ton of rumors about an Apple wallmounted tablet that uses Siri with apple intelligence as a smart home control Hub which sounds kind of interesting and number 10 last but not least it's not a tech product it's not even a
gadget really but I am curious to see what will happen with Tik Tok because as I'm sure you know the Tik Tok ban is coming if nothing changes by January 19th it will no longer be available in the US they have appealed to the US Supreme Court but there's no guarantee they will take the case I'm sure there are a lot of us content creators on Tik Tok who are a little bit worried of course we still have Instagram snap and YouTube and everything will be fine the world will continue spinning on its axis even
if Tik Tok is banned but are they going to sell it will they just you know withdraw from the US we know hopefully by the end of January so I hope you had a great 2024 and you'll have an even better 2025 this Tech chap Channel this community means the absolute world to me and we've got some exciting stuff coming which I can't wait to show you but in the meantime drop a comment with what you're most excited for in 2025 whether it's gaming or laptops or cars or Tech or phones or TVs let me
know what you're most excited for thank you so much watching guys I'll see you next time right here on the tech chat
