today I'm going to be interviewing Ronald Osborne on how he makes up to $150,000 per month with SEO Partnerships we'll be talking about why it's better than affiliate marketing how to monetize it how to find the best Partnerships for this plus how to vet your partners when it comes to SEO Partnerships plus this is a very actionable step-by-step process in terms of how to implement it and the biggest mistakes to avoid when it comes to creating profitable Partnerships personally I think this is one of the best opportunities to make money with SEO and secure monthly
Revenue without having to worry about the craziness of having a new site let's get it Hey Ron how's it going all right go to yourself man yeah doing good things so you said you working on like Partnerships at the minute right as an agency you're sort of selling more Partnerships than than client work that is correct my friend so yeah predominantly for myself uh businessman at heart I don't call myself an SEO the way I I try like I'll give a bit of an overstory of myself so people understand my story and like why does
this guy kind to say SEO and kind to say businessman first thing is joined the military had a lot of fun in the military military family uh I was good on the radio so I got skilled up in the military left the army or got the boot from the Army because I got injured fell off a bar did my knee got osteoarthritis in my knee sick so they gave me the boot from there I built a telecom company had 30 employees running around doing all of that up and down the east coast of a Australia
from there um yeah went to the multiple millions of dollars in Revenue we doing and then all of a sudden I had a lot of friends coming up to me being like dude how how like how do we do this for ourselves so I started helping my mates build their businesses going in there be like oh this is what you could do when you hire and fire people this is how you incentivize people which was huge so I started doing a lot of that and then I got on to the whole SEO when I moved
over to Russia so is that a gym the biggest tip I'll give everyone on this channel looking for leads and looking for better Partnerships go to the most expensive gyms in your area that's where all your doctors your property developers all the high-end earners are going they're not going to be going to the average Anytime Fitness it doesn't really happen they'll go to the gym that has the pool maybe it's off the corner there's a golf course go to those gyms that's where you'll make the best connections went there ran into a guy named Daniel
kroof and him and I got along like a house on fire and he had a massive like he still got a massive digital marketing agency in Russia and we started to sort of team up on a couple of things and from there my friend learned a lot about SEO learn a lot more and so I was actually able to start incorporating that to help my friends out like my business partners and everything like this going hey guys like where in the plumbing game what are we doing not targeting Google we could absolutely clean up here
so started to do everything on all of our own websites which was awesome because I got a fail with my own stuff and then from there the best way forward I learned is to actually just try and get into businesses compared to you know helping clients so it really hurt me there was this one client the first SEO client I landed I got paid $1500 a month and he ended up making 35 Grand a month just from like the SEO Stu and I'm sitting there going wait a minute I've missed out on this like this
isn't right I know he's got an awesome Roi but why have I missed out on this and I think that's where I started to look at things differently so I started to really cherry-pick who I started working with to be honest I work with a lot of referrals so I get a lot of referrals come in so help a lot of people with their business do something like that let's just say as an example they need to improve the processes within their organization that's what I help with and as an example I I started meeting
these awesome blocks especially down the southern part of Florida so I'm in remodeling Roofing uh real estate rentals a un Electrical Company all of these things just there now um so that's been really really good back home in Australia me plumbing companies um one roofing company as well back there but it's a bit different in Australia it's called roof like Plumbing it's roof uh roofer plumber does all the roofing not like a US based roofer it's bit different so yeah man in a lot of different things um and I also try to get involved in
the companies on a lifetime sort of setup if I can't take an equity stake I try to essentially go into the company and offer the years of knowledge that I have as like a hey I'll help you actually grow I help you hire help you do everything like this but where to do a lifetime deal where to do this where to do this and I'm to get a state of the revenue that's how I like or I think that's better especially if you're good at what you do like why not skin in the game yeah
100% this is quite an interesting one I mean I get a lot of people asking me like how do I set up Partnerships with companies like where's the best place to start with that number one qualifying and finding the right Partnerships because like obviously some people will get clients coming to them and there's absolutely zero point taking equity in their company because they're already making like you know a tiny amount of money whereas if you partner with an eight fig or a seven figure company the value of that partnership is way bigger right the earning
potential I guess it is it's obviously harder to get in sometimes you'll need to buy in so that's the biggest problem that's a g back to the gym that's my biggest secet that's what I tell everyone you got think think about it logically think about who's more likely to go to the gym young dude hungry ambitious you're going to bum into him where are you at in life mate 25 years old I've just started my company we're doing maybe 300 400 do you want to go to a million do you want to go to two
yeah I wouldn't mind it I just don't know how to do it that's your opportunity now how do you vet the individuals man uh so when I was younger when I had my telecom company I was very cautious I didn't like doing Partnerships with other people I didn't like doing any any any type of offers as an example there was a company called cable Solutions so they got involved in the wireless space like well before us and they had all these juicy contracts that I was trying to get and a good friend of mine was
very good mates with the owners and he's like bro though they're asking for you to go over and work with them go and work with them I'm like no no no no I'll do it by myself I'll get this taken care I'll get my team in did I pay like I think it was like 25 Grand in courses all this extra stuff we didn't even need it like if I had have just bitten the bullet been logical and gone after that partnership to begin with it would have been fine and I think that's where a
lot of people go wrong is they sit there and think they can do it themselves but but if you find someone that's good to do a partnership with go after it now chances are it's like relationships how do you vet that you've got a good misses you don't know yeah you don't know like all the things at the start are right she smiles at you jokes does all that sort of stuff but at the same time you don't know she's going to be there in 10 years time I look at those opportunities like go for
it if if it feels right in your gut go nuts make sure the numbers are good make sure that person is going in the direction that you want to going because as an example you might be sitting there going beautiful we can make $2 million together but what do they want to do after2 million like do they just want to stop do they want to leave the UK as example go to Thailand and just relax like put it on autopilot when you want to go to $10 million they're the types of things that you have
to ask yourself end of them but the rest man you'll sort out and make sure you've got a very good contract that stipulates like who can break it and how it can be broken so as long as you've got like hey if you're not holding up your end of the bargain hos you're out if I'm not holding up my end of the bargain Halas I'm out so make it fair it's like kind of like a prenup for marriage I I'd strongly strongly recommend it but don't be afraid to jump in with the sort of tickets
like you were saying like someone that's doing maybe 10 million bro it's going to be very hard for me to come in there and be like let's partner up boys let's do it very hard like they're going to be like Bro you've got to give us at least a million dollars in floating Capital up front this what what's required I'm not doing that but someone that is around that 100 maybe 80,000 to 500,000 annual revenue perfect and the other thing is too let's say someone's doing that realistically that's one or two team members that can
do that type of Revenue when it comes to Plumbers roofers all that it's realistically it's a couple of people it's not many so your value to the organization is enormous because if you truly think about it like that if you're able to set up the structure where leads are continuously coming in most of the time the average business owner is themselves about hiring extra people hiring staff hiring contractors doing more because they're like uh uh where's the leads coming from because all they've ever seen is referrals that's it that guy that's doing like that 50
$300,000 a year all he knows is referrals he gets gets work from the remodel over there he gets work from the Glo over there like that's how he gets most of his work so he's sitting there not knowing what's coming in so if you can set up something that shows hey mate this is consistent you're going to be able to sit back we'll be able to build the team at this month in month six we should be hitting this much revenue which would mean we can get a new guy on which will mean this one
can step back which will mean you'll be able to do this and Halas as long as it's laid out like that but I don't I personally don't advise going after people that are already doing a million dollars it's very hard it's very it's just you're going to have to put up capital and unless you know that person you grew up with that person why do it I personally think about it like this I hated working on a client model because it sucks ass because every month you got to sit down and talk I truly think
about this month mate we've gone from 30 keywords ranking in position four to position one did it bring leads uh Ron our leads have gone up by one phone call for the months who cares but they need to see that where if you're in a partnership I straight up be like listen listen you answer the phone you close the deals and I'll take care of getting the oh getting the leads like Halas and again with me it's a bit different because I'm able to offer all the extra expertise that I've had like I said like
I had a multi I made millions of dollars in Telecom before I made $1 in SEO so I had that understanding of business over anything else it was actually the business sense that got me into the SEO so I'm able to sit there and say hey this is how we hire people this is how we fire kpi setting up kpis like that's a huge thing a lot of people Overlook kpis I don't think that there's any reason that anyone should be not willing to participate in a partnership if they don't Focus themselves on being comfortable
interacting with people I know this space is a little bit shy but if you build Partnerships with brick andw companies you don't need many and you'll be able to live a good life where with SEO like if you truly think about it if SEO goes down tomorrow you got to learn other types of marketing where if you're in a Business Partnership you've set up leads let's say for a year so we've got those leads coming in for a year another thing that we always do is obviously we've got a CRM we collect all that if
there's ever a slow month especially with the remodelers in winter what do you do send out an email blast all of these types of things that you get to set up when you're in a Business Partnership can better just being in the SEO so you also get to make revenue on all of that as well that's not an SEO strategy who cares if the SEO is gone down just hitting with email marketing so there's a thousand different ways that you get to make money and to be honest you talk with most of the I honestly
talk my most of my business partners I'd say like maybe once once a month would be generous I reckon like it's once every two months so how we looking boys yeah cool no alwaysi done it doesn't need to be anything dramatic only chaotic time is obviously tax time and the biggest thing that I would say to people is try to set up a very clean structure so if you are going to set up a relationship with companies like this try to set up something where it's not a lot of people that I've seen in this
space they do a percentage share of profits don't do that because how do I like I get to sit here and be like hm that time I spent on the phone talking to the lead well that's got to come off the job $100 minus taken out of the profit oh here you go Ronald yeah so all those extra deductions on the expenses uh yeah well I spend some times there chrisy was on the phone for a long time we got to take those hours out so the profit isn't $2,000 it's $1,000 now so here's your
300 bucks mate that's ridiculous so try to set something that it's the invoice amount that's what I try to do or it's a REV share for a quarter or the year however you set it up best thing is that way then it's clean there's no hidden surprises you've got access to the books it's nice and easy that way you get to get bccd on all of the invoices too so you can just see the stuff coming in so your team or yourself can sit there and be like bang okay 10% of this yeah n you
only me 300 bucks compared to the profits if you do profits yeah it's very easy like my highest qualification is MBA specializing in finance it's very easy to hide things as expenses when um when it's done that way so sorry you were saying about MMR yeah so as an example I'd say pretty consistently so for the client SEO stuff I'm sort of sitting around about 35 Grand a month for for that but when it comes to the monthly recurring revenue for everything I do with the Partnerships it can be wild bro so one month it
might be 20 grand one month B Be 150 but like as an example I got out of a a thing I had with the Australian government back home in Australia that just paid me almost 600 Grand so yeah it can be it can be different types of um income coming in the only thing that does suck is you don't know what it is um especially if you have deals on revenue for the year so that's when it can get a little bit not good um because you've got to out outlay a lot of cash flow
but at the same time that's maybe how you get to negotiate bigger Equity Stakes so I forego the cash flow but that means at the end of the year instead of me getting let's say 7% I can ask for 15 because I'm wearing the risk and that's a that's another tip I'd give everyone it's like don't be afraid to negotiate like balls out just go aggressive and if you're risking something like just ask for more like it just um I can't remember the book The there's this famous FBI what's his never split the difference right
yeah yeah yeah yeah um what's his name Chris Voss Chris Moss Chris Voss yeah yeah yeah yeah so like he say like in there main thing is when it's coming to Deals it's like you know it doesn't need to be this lose lose attitude it's like well you get the win of being able to sit there and be like okay well I don't need to sit there and pay Ronnie more up front I get to pay more at the end if he brings me the rewards why isn't that aair deal for everyone again you wear
the risk I I'm okay with taking some sort of risk especially if it's something that I know I'm going to have a win in but those other times you can get yourself exposed so that's that's something I would say to someone is understand too that even if you do this with someone you might have been better off just charging them as a client so that's another caveat like I I wouldn't there are risks involved to doing this one the business can go on you know so that's a big thing two if another big big risk
that you have is they're not honest and up front with you so make sure you set up call tracking and what we have is if we're using um like uh fluent forms we have an actual Google sheet that tracks all the leads so every time someone completes that they see that office staff see that we all see it so there is no you know someone can log into the back end and delete things and there's none of that it's just this beautiful clean spreadsheet so everyone has access to all of that make sure that fluent
forms and then you can integrate it with Google Sheets directly like you don't need to do any zapier connection none of that nonsense it's literally instantaneous it comes straight through as soon as someone completes a form so if you do that you you'll be laughing and then that way it's not again it's not you can see if there's any revisions on the sheet like all of these things you get a you get a look after compared to to you know if you're not monitoring it things do go by the right and even good guys that
I got great relationships with be sitting there go hey guys how'd we go with that front door replacement I what front door replacement that wasn't one of yours it's like yeah it was say here's the call recording oh sorry man happens all the time so even good guys like things just get missed in this so it's important that you're constantly looking over it so devote time to it you know you're normally going to be looking maybe average local business at least 100 phone calls a month you're going to need to listen to so make sure
you're ready to track that yeah you can have a VA do it and all of that but if I've got the time I'll look through some of it whoever else will look through it and the sheet make sure that's squared away so the business owner can also use that for tracking of leads as well like we have three like three once it's we want it we lost it or it's in quoting stage Halas and like all of that everything stems from there so they're able to track it very easily they can look at everything on
their iPad share it around with their team super important um so make sure you checking all of that and the final thing that I would stress is make sure that you're constantly checking in with the business owner when you start so if it's a bloke you don't know or chick you don't know and you're sitting there and you you've just started working with them for the first time on this model you got to check in a lot because again like they might be thinking that you're going to get something different so a lot of the
time like with an agency you know someone gives you two grand what you get to do is you can spend up front you can spend 500 bucks 600 bucks on Google ads to start the phone ringing immediately they ah this seo's amazing it's not the SEO you don't get the lead straight away with SEO that's ludicrous it takes time but at least you can start the phone ringing so they're they're having a win and they're not not bugging you but the problem is when you're doing it this way you don't really have the cash to
be putting up front for ads so it does take a lot longer it is that more traditional SEO approach so you will need to sit there and just reassure him like hey hey are you prepared for three months maybe nothing absolutely nothing for three months is that okay with you because we got to build it so they can come so that's something that you've got to be careful of too um the final thing it depends where have I had my pants pulled down too where's a good storage with that yeah it it always happens man
like yeah I can imagine I can imagine all sorts goes on yeah it it does it does but it's like I've been fortunate again through the years that I've had in business so yeah I guess back on the point that I would probably say is like just be careful you're not too ambitious to get into Partnerships where you might have just been better off being an agency because it for me it turns into it like they've got my phone it's like hey Ronnie I've got a problem I've got this going on mate like what are
we do here Ronnie I've just had an employee take the you home he's pierced he's this can you talk to him like that's the stuff I get involved with so yeah well it's that's what I do bro you know I've had it all happen to me as well so like that that's a level that I go into with the companies so but that's the thing if you're not comfortable with that you know if you do just want it to be the SEO relationship a partnership probably isn't right you can limit in Partnerships like all things
they can be very clean and cut like it's I'm a terrible cook bro I'm never going to be the cook in the house like it's not going to happen my Ms is always going to be the cook not Ronnie it's not how it happens I'll bring the dollars alas um the way I look at all of that is that is a cleancut relationship everyone knows what they've got to do so if you start to blur the lines as well because a lot of them will sit there and be like wait we parted it up and
you said you going to do my marketing and do all the socials and do all no I didn't I don't do socials I don't do any of that rubbish if you want to do that that's on you I only do the SEO and the Google ads and we take care of all of that yeah I was going to ask about that like what sort of work do you focus on because SEO is so broad what do you focus on when it comes to SEO through a website like this uh it depends on like do you
say do you mean in that in that regards like what am I yeah you're doing like you're doing all the link building you doing yeah for example content creation yeah we we take care of everything everything my friend so so like I love the strategy of just trying to set up a heap of Google Business profiles everywhere we possibly can another reason I love Partnerships over zero Partnerships is it's so much easier for me to sit here and be like Goldie mate I want you to go out there and record a video of you getting
in the truck and then climbing up the tree to chop it all down as a SEO it's kind of hard to explain the value behind that when if we're in business Partnerships I get a well it's because we get to have a YouTube video that I can then push and send links to and all the other nauy things that we can do with the YouTube video all that stuff that helps with conversions as well on the website with SEO you don't really get to talk about that because they're not paying you for that so you
shouldn't be sitting there doing it so that's why I say it's very important that you focus on what works for a business on on their regard for the website conversion optimization is important for me uh like the best formula I found hero call now you got the contact us you got the form right up the top and then all all the crap content underneath we put a video right underneath and everything else is it goes through like that yeah we do we found the same with testing whether it's ads whether it's SEO just put it
all at the top yeah and that's the 8020 of it yeah yeah so yeah I think um a big thing too so like uh for the clients man you do all of those things you make the the businesses look real that's probably actually something I would really add make the businesses look real people are getting smart now man and knowing what websites are so like remember we get we used to have those terrible websites it had no it was like the stock image the chick leaning over the you know Top Hand on a plum or
some some ridiculous tool like a mon monkey wrench or something that it's not working anymore the best thing I find is like real images it's the here's the team here's who we are here's the video of us so oh they're real okay I'm going to communicate with someone that's real I think that's very important that I've added across everything because every single asset that we have that is doesn't look real in that regards doesn't perform nearly as well SEO and conversion wise what about when it comes to let's say something isn't working out what sort
of G out point do you have can you pull the plug at any time or I I can I can so yeah I'm I'm going to be completely honest man all my contracts are very favorable towards me always um so I can pull the plug at any time the termination clause in most of my contracts however though if let's say you and I were in business together you have to notify me with in writing 24mon period from there because obviously I've done all the SEO work I'm not getting screwed on that so if we start
working together for a year and then you're like ah damn it's an extra 150 Grand half a million that's been brought in let's get rid of this bloke so we don't have to pay anything no we we I ride that way for at least 24 months and I also need to agree to the termination which you will because it's like if someone's like I don't want to be in business with you it's like trying to be forced in a relationship it's miserable so yeah they won't do what you say they just don't turn up for
meetings um to be honest I've been very blessed that like everyone I've worked with I still work with to this day so like my mate we've been what was it maybe 2015 actually would have been 16 so I've been working with a close mate of mine um there's actually he he used to be my business coach and he helped me because I was struggling to like when I got to 15 BLS I was like I've never had 15 BLS the most I had in the Army like I looked after five guys when I was in
the Army and I was like what do I do now and um him and I do business together it's three companies so back in Australia so there's all of this stuff like those relationships will always revolve around and as as long as you look after the partnership you'll be together for a long time the main thing is biggest thing I'd stress is just people should not rush into Partnerships because they think they're going to make a lot of money if you're only going to make three like two to three grand just do normal SEO things
because then you can just be like see mate if you're making two to three grand you're doing all this extra stuff that I'm talking about well what's the point so you want to be making like 10K or above right 10K is 5 to 10K is pretty realistic I'd say 5K is yeah you're never going to have dramas most businesses if they're having to pay me 5K as an example a month right that's that means that they're making at least 50s coming in as a minimum I don't normally take less than 10% a lot of people
out there are taking like two three I take 10 uh but the thing is it's like I get to take 10 because I know that it's not just the SE I get to help with all the problems I have like dude the amount of people that are Lo it's lonely up the top isn't it bro like there's no one like you have to have mates that are business owners you don't get to sit there to your employees and be like man I'm having these hard times because your employees will look at it as weakness it's
literally like the Army it is you can't have that conversation there is no in no world do you get a talk down to your employees and be like listen mate like that employee over there we're having some problems with like now employees only ever see sunshine and rainbows and that's it all the other problems you got to deal with or you talk about to your mates because otherwise it just goes to it really goes to Bro there's no other way of saying it so I think that's a big thing too that I get to have
um that I get to help a lot of people with because it is lonely up the top and that's the extra stuff that people are buying when they work with me too awesome man I mean like today you've covered a lot you've covered literally where to find Partnerships how much to take how to set up the contract what sort of work to do and additionally you've talked about like how to set up a get out point and protect yourself from people right partner right is there anything else you think you should mention or yes that's
pretty much it yeah there there is definitely like a couple of points I'd mention is one if people are struggling and they want to do this or even get more work become the proof so the whole reason that I got to succeed is because what I beat everyone for roofing SEO rank number one like beat gch ah hatress all those guys carpet cleaning SEO I've been up the top of Google in the US for what like a year maybe two years now bro don't go after it though it's terrible for leads I think you get
like I think I've had like three phone calls um SEO for physiotherapist like I wanted to show people that I could actually do what part of the service I selling and I I think that's where a lot of people aren't hitting the na on the head they're sitting there going I'll do all this cold email I'll do all this it's great but if you're able to sit there and be like do the cold email and then be able to have something behind it actually builds the trust that it's so much easier because you got to
sit there relaxed and be able to like yeah man they're going to sit there and be like Ronnie why should I work with you but like I've got a million other seos that I could work with yeah you do but I've done this they haven't oh yeah that's that's the biggest thing that I would say to a lot of people like don't rush out there trying to build the Partnerships let them come to you that's another thing so there will be opportunities you will see it like crust your gut you'll see it whether it's that
ambitious fell that's in the gym or it's just maybe you've worked with someone for a long time and you've helped their business grow up ask them if you know it's more beneficial for you and them let's say as an example so I if you've worked with someone doing stock standard SEO services for maybe a year two years you know what they're like ask just sit there and be like listen you know there's certain areas in the business that haven't improved over these two years now whether you have that business knowledge or not you might not
be able to help with it but if it comes to the marketing side of it there might be a specific area that you could help with instead of having to charge them like Haro as an example we all need to build Brands nowadays so instead of sitting there being like listen we've got to go from the 2 Grand to three grand a month uh because I've got to introduce harro to keep you up the top why don't we maybe look at this a different way where instead of you having to pay me that extra an
hour at three grand a month why don't you let me have a little bit of uh commission let let me work on a Model where I can even you know if I can hit a certain Target can I have a percentage of the business or can I just be paid in what I bring in because you know that there's more on offer then go for it but I just don't think be timid around that stuff be aggressive be focused and hos he'll be fine awesome man appreciate the advice and obviously you're in the SEO Elite
Circle as well right yeah brother of course which is great how are you finding it yes the biggest thing for me I think the school Community is are like a really good point to connect and again like I said before it's lonely up the top so when people are getting started especially they don't know what to do or where to go it's always good to have BLS that you get to talk to about so that's why I think that your community is a solid one for anyone in SEO thanks man yeah I appreciate that I
think there's a lot of good guys in there doing SEO a lot of agencies as well so it's kind of like it's just good to share everything in one place and there's a lot of stuff you can't put out there it's like it's good to do case studies but some case studies you just can't put out there right dude the my website's going to be cook now it's it's always getting like it's always getting the um their long strings I'm always seeing like if I look in Google search console I was born digital marketing once
just this all these long strings are just getting absolutely hammered so yeah that that does suck man but you know I'll just use the use the tools to hopefully keep overriding that but it is the one thing that isn't good about putting everything out there publicly yeah that's it I mean for me I accept like anything that I put out there probably going to get targeted like if I mention ranking an article the next day later there's like five other articles competing with me for that keyword it's sucks dude it's sucks it's it's like a
um I made a like I used uh Google Sheets has been awesome and I made a free back link so we got rank lightning my SEO tool that we're building up now so like a cem rush and all of them just I think it's too expensive and they're kind of bloated so we're building that now and um yeah and along those lines man like I I was trying to build a like we're looking into how to do a backlink monitor for this specifically and I was like what about if I just build a script throw
it into Google Sheets get it to run automatically so then it checks like completely free man goes through you just put in all your backlinks it'll go through it'll see if it's index and' see what the anchor text is if it's live uh do follow no follow all that information's put out on the sheet and I reckon it was about would have been like seven days later in my feed it was just nothing but like all these videos on free backlink monitors I was like God damn it maybe I shouldn't have you it up that's
