Find equivalent fractions, three fractions I put here. Why did I put three fractions, do you know? Because when I'm working with equivalent fractions I can find infinitely many equivalent fractions, so if I say, the fraction I have is 3/5, find fractions equivalent to 3/5.
There are infinite equivalent fractions, okay? That's why I limited it so I only put three equivalent fractions. But how to find an equivalent fraction?
There are several possible answers, folks, the results, right? For example, finding an equivalent fraction could be so I can either multiply or divide it to perform a simplification, okay? You attended the class in which I explained the simplification of fractions, right?
When I perform a simplification I am also finding an equivalent fraction, okay? And here, as I can't simplify because I can't find a divisor common to 3 and 5, so I know that to find an equivalent fraction it will only be done by multiplying, so for example, I can multiply the numerator and the denominator, there is to be both at the same time for the same number, okay? For 2 and what will it look like then?
If I multiply by 2 I will find 6/10 and what does that mean? It means that the fraction 3/5 is equivalent to the fraction 6/10. If you were to imagine a pizza, if you had a pizza and you had divided that pizza into 5 pieces, you would have eaten 3 pieces, right?
But if you had divided it into 10 pieces you would have eaten 6 pieces but of course the little piece would be thinner, right? But the amount of pizza you ate is the same, okay? Equivalent fractions is just another way of writing the initial fraction I have, okay?
So let's make another fraction equivalent to 3/5 so 3/5 now let's find another one, what could be another fraction equivalent to 3/5? There are endless possibilities here, folks, okay? But you can say I'm going to make x 4 so if you make x 4 both the numerator and the denominator it's ok, you can't do that and I'm going to multiply the numerator by 4 and the denominator by 3, then you don't have an equivalent fraction, okay?
And you will make mistakes. So here I have to multiply by the same number and doing this another fraction that is equivalent to 3/15 is 12/20 twenties. Think about pizza, you divided a pizza into 20 pieces, wow, it must be difficult to divide a pizza into 20 pieces, it will be very small, you eat 12, okay?
And let's make one more, since I ordered three here. Now the other fraction equivalent to 3/5 here, so let's multiply by how much? For 6, production said to multiply by 6 here.

Look at that one there now at 2/8, how is that a fraction equivalent to 2/8? I can come here and multiply 2/8 by 2, let's go with 2, since I start everything with 2. I like the number 2 so much, because my birthday is on the 2nd, so I like the number 2.

You use the equivalent fraction process when you do addition and subtraction with fractions. So this is making an equivalent fraction. And lastly here I'm going to multiply now, enough by 2, right, let's go by 3, I almost didn't do any by 3. By 3 people, by 3 it will be 21/9, 7x 3= 21, 3x 3= 9 so that means that the fraction 21/9 is equivalent to 7/3, what else could we do, have you thought about it?

49/21 so if I wanted to multiply by 12 could I? Of course, remember that I said that the answers I can find here in equivalent fractions are infinite? So 7/3 I could multiply by 12 then.
So if I did 7 by 12 it would be 84 and 3 by 12 would be 36, so see here all the cases here I found equivalent fractions, remembering that the answers are infinite. Now I'm going to bring some examples in which I'm going to give you the denominator I want in the equivalent fraction and then we just need to find the numerator, or if I give the numerator you need to find the denominator. So look at the next case that I brought here, now I'm going to give you the fraction and I want you to find a fraction that is equivalent to it, but I've already given the value that I want to be the denominator, okay? So now you can't think of any result like what we did in the first one, there are infinite possibilities. There is only one answer here, look, here I already gave the numerator, you can find the denominator, okay?
So let's go. What am I going to think here? Well, I'm going to look where I have numbers here in both cases, okay?
So here, seven to become 28 means I multiplied it by 4, right? But then the production team is saying the following to me, guys, you're the math teacher, right Gis, so you know the multiplication tables by heart, but what about people who don't have the ability to do the multiplication tables, how do you do it? Look at the bottom one now, well I'm going to look where I have the two numbers, not where I have the question mark. 44 to have become 11, what now? It means it decreased, if it decreased it means I divided, people, when I'm finding equivalent fractions I never add or subtract, it's always multiplication or division.
Well, from 44 to becoming 11, what did I do? If you can't think about division, think about the inverse operation, do the little arrow in reverse, from 11 to become 44, okay, you can think like this, that means it was done times 4, from 11 to 44 we made 4 but look at the direction of my little arrow, so 44 to get to 11 I divided by 4 automatically I divide 28 by 4 here. But to know how much you multiply 12 by, I divide 60 / 12, you'll have to put together a list if you don't have the ability to do mental calculations, okay?
It's no problem for us, it's normal to make a list, 60 / 12 means it's 5 so I multiply it by 5, do the number in the corner of the notebook there, look, 60 by 12 is 5 times, okay? Don't be ashamed to do the math, make sure it's worth it. So 12 times 5 is 60 automatically up here multiplies by 5, 1 x5 which is 5, okay?
One more case, and now it's the opposite, it's from here to here so let's go, let's do the arrow, but I'm not going to look here, right, I'm going to look where the number is, from 91 to having become 13, or do you want look from 13 to have turned 91?
