Mason is self-discovery in my own personal search I have reflected on the legendary inscription know thyself on the Temple of Apollo at Deli and I have discovered its deep resonance with Masonic philosophy reflecting the pursuit of personal growth moral refinement and higher knowledge Freemasonry teaches that true wisdom comes from within the True Light that helps us better understand the Divine and the universe's deeper truths Freemasonry has guided me to reflect on my thoughts actions and motivations striving for self-mastery this self- knowledge forms the foundation of personal growth and moral Integrity spiritual enlightenment a core goal
of Freemasonry is symbolized by the Quest for light by knowing oneself a Mason connects with the Divine spark within attaining higher wisdom and spiritual Insight this is often represented by the Masonic conception of the grand architect of the universe Freemasonry also Advocates Unity with the Divine achieved through understanding one's true nature and the greater Universal order our symbols and rituals reflect this connection between humanity and the Divine the maxim know thyself inscribed at the Temple of Apollo at Deli and the 10th precept included in Albert Pike's Masonic decalogue first-degree lecture Entered Apprentice morals and Dogma
highlights the importance of understanding one's moral compass Freemasonry values a life of virtue charity and Brotherhood self- knowledge empowers Masons to live with integrity and recognize their responsibility to others and Society symbolism and allegory are Central to Freemasonry know thyself is an allegory for the introspective Journey all Masons undertake just as we symbolically labor on Solomon's Temple we also work to perfect our inner Temple Freemasonry promotes Universal Brotherhood here differences in religion race or culture are secondary to the shared Pursuit Of Truth by knowing oneself a Mason recognizes the Divine spark in others contributing to
the ideal of a harmonious society that mirrors the higher order I have explored how self-inquiry within Freemasonry leads to Enlightenment wisdom and the unity of the Divine this intimate self-inquiry has guided me to realize that there exists deep within a capacity for discernment between the Eternal and the ephemeral or between the ultimate reality which does not change and the material world which is In Perpetual change the Ultimate Reality consists for me of recognizing and manifesting the Divinity Within Myself and of perceiving this Divinity in the cosmos as soon as this Ultimate Reality or Consciousness is
