actress Jenny G spent 10 seasons on the much loved series Beverly Hills 90210 and she's done so much since then including a new clothing line and a hit podcast called I choose me please welcome the talented and hardworking Jenny [Music] [Applause] G see you guys again hi there you look wonderful beautiful how do you I'm good hi everybody hi you know I hate to start on such a sad note but it was very sad for people to hear that your Beverly Hills coastar Shannon Dy passed away of breast cancer uh she was young yeah she
was a young girl too young um it was a very courageous battle they always are so how are you doing she was a close friend of yours and is there anything you'd like to say about her today you have an opportunity oh my goodness there's so much I would love to say about Shannon it's it's still really fresh and um you know still managing the whole grieving process but it is um you know it's just sad it's sad for all of us we were brothers and sisters we still are and yeah that's what a bond
we all we all have yeah 90210 big fan over here uh was on the air for 10 seasons and it will it will forever be kind of a classic in in the all lates the way with many why do you think that and do you remembering with Shannon I think PE this was the first glimpse into Beverly Hills you know there was no internet there was there was no social media and so people just wanted to know what Beverly Hills look like and they wanted to live there so I think that they connected on that
level first and foremost and then it was the the characters that they created and we all created together and I am watching the show back for the first time I'm on season five I think I know I've never watched it before and I am hooked I am a super fan I really understand it now on a different level well everybody from Beverly Hills is moving to Miami so your reunion is going to have to be in Miami but we had such a great time working together as just young young people thrust into this position um
you know was it was a lot to manage and thank God we had each other and it was it was something that it it was for everything it was I remember the Summers like you didn't you weren't used to getting shows in the Summers I remember watching at my grandma like the M everything it's just well I would sneak watching because I'm a little bit younger and I wasn't allowed to cuz some of the it pushed the boundaries for the time but so iconic and now you're you're channeling iconic moments from 9 90210 into your
new podcast very cleverly titled uh I choose me so remind us where the name came from if you're not familiar that was the moment uh that Kelly chose had to choose between Brandon and Dylan and that is a no- win situation right because how do you do thatand's so cute so she bravely chose herself in that moment and at that time as a young girl I didn't really understand the sort of importance of what she was saying but as I've grown into a woman and had children of my own I understand it now on such
a deeper level and I have such appreciation for her being so brave or for Jessica Klein who wrote that line being so brave to bring it to young women everywhere I love it how many kids have you got I have three girls three well you know you're not shying away from anything on this podcast um you have your ex you had your ex-husband Peter fanelli as a yeah she did as a guest um to discuss what went wrong in your 12year relationship oh first I have to ask you what made you do that um do
it publicly and can you tell people how that conversation went cuz I've been married for 25 years and and and I I wouldn't be able to do it it wasn't easy it wasn't an easy decision um but it was something that we both decided it would be helpful to people because a lot of people are dealing with divorce in their families and co-parenting challenges um and we were too we had spent a lot of time just really struggling to you know see eye to eye and we finally got there and we hadn't spoken about this
at all face to face we never really even talked face to face was always texting each other about the girls whatever and I invited him on the show and he was so gracious and said yes and we talked about we wanted it to be a positive experience and um I said absolutely and he came in and I said here's the microphone he just started talking and so the for the first time we had like real conversations about the impact of the divorce and he kind of got into like what he thought went wrong for him
and um I think it was just like a really eye openening experience I know it was for me and I know a lot of people listening to the podcast have said that it's really kind of helped them to think like okay there's a light at the end of this tunnel of Darkness that I'm in I'm beginning to think that should be having like a podcast about your divorce should be a part of uh divorce negotiations it might make them a lot easier I think it's a good idea you just mentioned uh that you had three
daughters they're 27 21 and 17 yeah and you have said that when your girls become women it's an entirely different ball game so how are you parenting them one day at a time one uh you know situation at a time they're amazing girls you know Peter and I are so proud of our daughters and um just the who they are and now it's the point where we're just like go be you shine do your thing little parenting an adult child it really is it's I always say I wish you were still in diapers yes because
I can handle that exactly but when they ask you like life questions you have to I say sometimes fake it till you make it but for me it's Instinct like whatever comes to my mind is probably the right thing to tell them so I go with Instinct a lot Instinct that's good well they're gorgeous they take after oh thank you thank you well in all of your spare time you also are launching a clothing line called me by Jenny G you said it came out of a gap you were seeing for women in their 40s
and 50s can you tell us about that yeah I really think that women uh are underserved women over 50 are sort of underserved out there in the marketplace and they feel unrepresented and I wanted a place for women of all ages to be able to dress themselves with confidence and feel beautiful in their clothes so our line is all about empowering women and motivating them to take those moments to choose themselves even when it comes to picking what you're going to wear first thing in the day how does that make you feel this is one
of my yeah this is actually made from um 23 plastic bottles that were destined to go into the ocean beautiful I love that thank you I may need I I may need 32 plastic bottles but I love it well Jenny thanks for coming by it's great to see you again uh our thanks to Jenny G her new podcast I choose me is out now and Jenny will be on our behind the table podcast with Brian later today he's so excited look at him have he like a new woman to talk
