[Music] foreign ERS my name is always is still Jose Ignacio and what do I have for you today well today we're going to be talking about oh to discuss now you're probably asking yourselves what is O to discuss well viewers oh to discuss is oda's integrated messaging system not only does it offer direct messages and call capabilities but it also has channels users can configure to send out public or private messages at any time now channels are a great way to communicate with a larger group of people all at once companies utilize these channels to
easily share updates and important announcements this ensures that everyone is always informed and never out of the loop now with Oda discuss communication throughout your entire company is transparent and easily accessible at all times now you can create public channels that anyone can view and join or you can create private channels and control who can follow and participate as well inside of those disc discussions but enough Chit Chat as I always say and let's dive into our odoo database and see just how easy it is to create and edit channels without a discuss all right
hello doers now here I am on the main menu of my database now no matter where I am in odoo I can always view my conversations by clicking this button over here in the top right now if I want to only view new activities in the channels I'm a part of I can go to the channels tab in my conversation window by clicking into it selecting channels now we already went over direct messages in another tutorial so let's focus on channels today if I want to create a new channel I have to go to the
discuss module so we're going to click discuss now once that we're inside we're going to learn a few things in this case how to add and create private channels now as you can see I am already part of the general Channel now it's bold which means there are new messages in the channel so if I click into General Channel as you can imagine this is a public Channel by the way which means it's visible to everyone inside of our database so we want to be a little bit safe with what we type now the sidebar
only shows the channels I'm connected to but I can view all the channels in the database by clicking on the gear icon next channels and once that I do so by selecting the gear here this takes me over here to our public channels page now here I can also click to join other channels like this random one right here now if I ever want to leave a channel I can also click on leave within a Channel's card now this will instantly remove me from that particular Channel and to do so all we just got to
do is hit that leave button that I just showed now what else do we have though right next to that now I also have this create button and what does that allow me to do it allows me to create and what this does is it allows us to make a new public Channel however I don't want to create a public channel that everyone can see right now I actually have a secret project plan for my sales team and I want to make a private channel to speak with them about it without any other teams being
able to access our conversation so how do we do that wellow doers let's go back over here to the discuss module dashboard and we're going to create a private channel for our sales team so we're gonna head back through the breadcrumbs and you also may have noticed the plus sign next to the channel I almost forgot to talk about that now when I click it I can type in the text box that pops up so if we click the plus sign I can use this to find an existing channel in this case if I type
in sales pops up or I can also create a new channel entirely in this case we're going to do our same flow right here so we're going to type Secret sales Channel projects now you'll notice there are two options the first has a regular hashtag sign which means ODU will create a public Channel with your specified name now the second has a lock icon which means odor will create a private Channel with this name and you can probably class which one I'm going to want to kick now we're going to click over here and select
that one now once that we do that you're going to notice something else we're going to add a description in this case let me add the description up top and this is just so the channel members understand what the channel is for I mean being sent to secret invite is kind of overwhelming now we're going to want to do something like new website sales strategy and we're going to hit enter and once that we're done we're going to click over here on this members list button and the button is always found right here in the
top right of the chat window now since I just created this channel I am the only member in it so far no one has accepted our invite so we have to add users in order to do so I can try to remember every person on my sales team and type their names in one by one and I can invite them this way or I can send every person on my sales team an invitation link but what if I told you there was one more way well the easier way and this way allows us that every
person on my sales team without forgetting anybody is if we hover over here on our new channel and click on that gear icon and we go over to the channel settings in the Privacy tab you can see that only invited people can follow this Channel's activity but I can also edit this so we're going to click it and we're going to add the entire sales department to the auto subscribe Department fields now when I hit save any user in my database with an employee record connected to the sales department will be added to this channel
so we're going to save and we go back over here to the members tab and there you have it as you can see the once empty members tab is now populated with everyone from the sales department but oh man we've made a small problem in a small oh dupsy as usual we've caught ourselves I just remembered that Mark is out on sick leave and I don't want to bombard his inbox with this Channel's notifications poor Mark he's got to recover no worries here I'm going to quickly remove him from this channel by simply clicking onto
the trash icon and this is always found next to somebody's name all right Mark won't get bothered now so go ahead and hit save all right once we're done with that let's go back to the discuss Channel via odu's breadcrumbs I will always talk about our bread crumbs because these allow us to go back very quickly and isn't that always Dandy now I'm ready to send information and updates about this secret project in my sales team in my brand new private Channel now I was able to create it with just a few clicks thanks to
Oda discuss and isn't that super easy and we're finally done by the way oh doers now channels channels are a simple and easy way to share information with a large group of people odoo makes it easy to control who is in your channels and who is auto subscribed and through this it ensures that you never miss anyone now you be sure to check out the other videos to learn about direct messages how to do voice and video calls with how to discuss as well that's all for this video thank you for watching and I'll see
