I'm the most annoying guy on set because I'm saying um excuse me you do realize that this should be happening and they wouldn't do that and you haven't read this then that means this would be impossible and everyone's just going Henry just shut up and do the thing and I'm like I don't want to do the thing because cuz he it wouldn't he wouldn't do it this way and he he can do this there's something I've been dying to say sorry this is this is completely I just every day on set on this set I
was grinding my teeth because there was no one who would know the reference that I'm about to give you and I mean if even if you don't get it there's some cameras here and there people home who will get it okay do you know Warhammer all Warhammer 40,000 that kind of stuff that will the greatest expert that's fine that's fine there's people at home who are just got oh yeah they're weaning in now go for it that Chandelier looks like a Blackstone Fortress there are just some things you simply don't change if there's nothing wrong
don't change it sure the world is evolving embracing feminism diversity and being more open but why tamper with an all male custodian lore if that's how it was originally written Henry caval has done it again the Warhammer icon has reportedly quit Amazon's liveaction adaptation sparking a firestorm of debate over what many fans are calling a betrayal of the franchise's Sacred lore one of the most controversial moves the introduction of female cust Stans something that's left the Warhammer fan base absolutely divided but what's really going on behind the scenes and why does this decision feel eerily
similar to Henry's dramatic exit from The Witcher um it's very flattering uh I don't know if it's a fair comparison yet time will tell uh cu the only comparison you can truly make is popularity and how well this does versus how well that does but that's where the similarities end uh yes they both exist within a fantasy genre but they're very much a different end of that spectrum and and for me I've always thought of it ever since I've been hearing about the Game of Thrones comparisons it's like saying this actor is going to be
the next Tom Cruz there is no next Tom Cruz there's only Tom Cruz and Tom Cruz exists as the incredible performer and producer that he is in the same way that Game of Thrones will exist all by itself and that's it The Witcher might be the next successful fantasy series but time will tell you would no it's not so easy to put on but uh and and it took 2 hours of hair and makeup every day so that's uh that's just sitting at home looking cool we did uh I spent a lot of time I
was there uh for about a month maybe a month and a half before production started so I got there quite late as far as pre-production go uh but I spent about 6 hours riding every day um just to build that relationship with Zeos is the actual performing horse's name um but yeah roach roach and I spent plenty of time getting to know each other I yes I did in fact I played the video games before really the books yeah I thought the books were based upon the games because anytime I saw a Witcher book it
was always game art on the cover and after meeting with Lauren she told me about the books I ended up reading the books and loving them I've been a fan of fantasy genre since I was knee high to a grasshopper and so for me it was a real treat to jump into that and SE kovsky writing incredible let's dive into why Henry Cav's departure from Warhammer is hitting fans so hard because this isn't just about one actor leaving a project this is about a man who's obsessed with the source material and who's proven time and
again that he's willing to fight for it caval has been a lifelong Warhammer fan seriously this guy paints Miniatures in his spare time insiders say he viewed Amazon's proposed changes like introducing female custodians which completely rewrites the franchise's established lore as a betrayal of everything Warhammer stands for and for fans this feels like history repeating itself remember the Witcher caval clashed with Netflix creatives for three seasons pushing for a version of geralt that stayed faithful to Andre sapkowski's books he even said it outright in interviews he wanted the character to reflect the novels as much
as possible but balancing that with the showr runner's Vision was in his words tricky eventually the differences became too much and caval decided to step away when he announced his exit in October 2022 Cav's Instagram post was gracious even heartfelt he passed the torch to Liam Hemsworth saying my journey as geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and Adventures I pass the torch with reverence and enthusiasm but the reality behind the scenes reports claimed creative clashes and dissatisfaction with the direction of the series played a huge role even cast members like Ana chuta
who plays yennifer admitted his departure was hard to take and that the cast would miss him immensely fans too were devastated the internet was a blaze with theories some thought his Superman commitments played a part but caval himself made it clear he was more than capable of balancing multiple projects so why did he leave it boiled down to the same thing we're seeing with Warhammer creative control Cav's love for the original Works whether it's sapkowski's novels or Warhammer lore often clashed with the decisions made by showrunners and Executives and when he's fighting for something he
believes in he doesn't hold back there were even wild rumors from Duma about caval being impossible to work with but let's be real Anonymous celebrity gossip doesn't exactly hold up under scrutiny what does hold up is Cav's track record he's passionate dedicated and unwilling to compromise the Integrity of the story he loves so now fans are asking how can Hollywood expect to keep someone like Henry caval an actor who lives and breathes these franchises when they're so willing to throw the original Vision out the window whether it's the Witcher or Warhammer caval is making one
thing clear if the story loses its Soul he's not afraid to walk away 40K recently said that they were female adeptus custodis and The Internet Is Up in Flames with hatred towards this whole concept I'm in the boat of I don't like it I I I don't like them changing the lore in that way cuz I've done the 40 facts video on the creation of an adeptus cotus and it does say that it's Brotherhood the sons of the emperor kind of thing so that's just been completely like brushed away yeah it's like they really should
take this time to flesh out other female factions such as the sisters of silent especially since the 10th edition codex gave them rules where they could be played as a full Army but they don't have the model line and the overall like Necessities to be a playable winnable Army so it's like why make them an army when they're not there yet and then focus on the custodies like that doesn't make sense so anyone who is a fan of any nerdy franchise gets that retcons can be annoying but by the emperor Warhammer 40K fans are tearing
themselves apart after the company behind the game decided to make what's been described as a woke weton to a single faction and again as a Outsider looking in this is all going to sound a bit crazy but let me try to explain starting with the basics by Warhammer 40K started as a miniature tabletop game that's turned into a media Empire tons of books video games even an upcoming show by Amazon being produced by Henry caval all in order to sell plastic armies that you can paint the most recent update will be for adeptus custodes a
group of superhuman genetically modified guards for the Emperor of mankind the problem though is that the update includes a short story about a female custodian which is the first in-law mention of one in the official Warhammer later coming out to confirm there have always been female custodians and so for a huge number of fans this is full-blown heresy by the company entire threads were made saying they provve that custodians were always a Brotherhood as well as takes like have fun ending up like Star Wars get ready for Pride Hammer 40,000 guys with the diverse parium
of they them fight the evil bigoted forces of the CIS white male and then also among people having different takes there people that were upset not because this group suddenly had women in it but because their addition was lazily done because with a wave of their hand Games Workshop announced hey it's always been this way after decades lore never mentioned it but then on the other side of this you have a lot of other people celebrating the addition and there was also a lot of people who made fun of those who were angry about the
change and then going on to say Warhammer lore is literally just 99% soft R consons which many argue is objectively true because over the 40-year history of the franchise there has been rcon after reccon but follow to stay in the loop um it is the greatest privilege of my professional career to have this opportunity uh I I can't say too much again it's early days still but to have the opportunity to bring it to the screen and be at the tiller so it can be faithful is is key to me and this is this is
the stuff I've I've been dealing with since I was a kid this this sort of is is a stuff I I spend my free time daydreaming about as an adult as well and I get to bring it into life and there is there is no greater reason than I join the industry than doing something like this and uh I'm I'm very happy to be here now let's talk about Amazon's alleged motives behind this controversial shakeup according to reports the streaming giant has been aggressively pushing for modern inclusivity specifically demanding the inclusion of female custodians something
that directly contradicts Warhammer long-standing lore the Uproar started when Games Workshop introduced custodian Cades Tower Valia KES a female adeptus custodes character in their codex adeptus custodies but what really lit the fan base on fire was Warhammer official social media team claiming that there have always been female custodians fans immediately called this out as gaslighting pointing to Decades of lore that clearly established the custodians as an exclusively male faction created by the emperor himself using his genetic material leaked rumors from forums and YouTubers like the arch cast suggest this wasn't just games workshops idea it
was a compromise with Amazon apparently Amazon initially wanted female Space Marines but Games Workshop resisted knowing the Fallout would be catastrophic instead they settled on female custodians likely as a middle ground to appease Amazon without completely shattering their core fan base even this compromise hasn't gone over well reports indicate that the introduction of female custodians was meant to test the waters for Amazon's larger inclusivity push but it backfired spectacularly Amazon's automated systems which monitor feedback for their IPs have reportedly flagged a sharp increase in complaints about the Warhammer project drawing comparisons to disasters like rings
of power and Wheel of Time and what about Henry caval sources say he's Furious about the changes the adeptus custodes aren't just another faction to cavil they're his favorite this makes Amazon's decision feel especially tonedeff considering they brought on board for his deep love of the lore and his credibility with fans however caval may be contractually tied to the project making it difficult or even impossible for him to walk away entirely despite his frustrations this entire situation seems like another example of Hollywood prioritizing virtue signaling and media Buzz over authentic storytelling rather than honoring the
World building that has kept Warhammer alive and thriving for decades Amazon seems determined to shoehorn Modern agendas into a universe that fans love specifically because of its gritty unyielding lore but here's the real kicker Amazon's push for these changes isn't just alienating fans it's creating bad press for the very show they're trying to promote with complaints piling up and fans feeling betrayed it's clear that prioritizing inclusivity over storytelling isn't just a bad creative decision it's bad business for many fans this isn't n just about Henry caval or even the custodians it's about the bigger picture
a beloved franchise being altered in ways that feel disingenuous and unnecessary all for the sake of appealing to an audience that likely doesn't even engage with the source material and once again the people who lose out the most are the loyal fans who've supported Warhammer for years uh geekiest thing uh would have to be my Warhammer stuff we're Games Workshop aren't we yeah yeah yeah it's um that took me a while to kind of um confess to openly and publicly um yeah I and I love it and I've um that's the stuff I've done in
as far as hobby stuff the stuff which my escapism is concerned um all all the reading I do outside of work is normally based around that or fantasy authors um so yeah and I've been I've been involved in the Warhammer world for 40,000 years 40,000 years oh well longer depending how you look at it um but uh since I was probably 10 nice uh specifically witch universe or just I mean just oh my goodness You' got so many and I've got none I was like how much time do we have listen I'll sit here all
day listening ruling out The Witcher yeah now The Witcher um I mean the easy answer is um Warhammer 40,000 that is my my jam um I have been into it since I was 10 what's your army at the moment uh custodes uh I'm going I'm going necrons next okay all right cool were you were you into this before or is let's just assume that anything nerdy I've been doing for a good 30 oh wow we could talk for hours yeah so yeah this is that that's that's my jam and that's the stuff um I I
do in my free time chosen chapter chosen chapter well I mean it's okay adep custodes which is they're not Space Marines so they're not chapters um if I were to go for a chapter it would either be um and I these before custodies came out blood angels were my chapter yeah and also salamanders okay they were they were my two favorites see looking at C I just thought Space Wolves would have been on the agenda I mean Space Wolves are cool really cool and and they are they are great but um I thing is I'm
a bit of a loyalist even with my own stuff and so I felt guilty just having two chapters and so you can't then go oh okay I'll have another I'll be Space Wolves as well space wolves are really cool and I thought I'm going to let them be cool from a distance and and do it that way I mean I I also enjoyed the idea of Grey Knights as well because them being the the ultimate of demon Hunters was was great and actually all the new stuff they have out now is they are quite strong
within the within the meta I believe um but yeah I would say blood angels for their nature and what they represent and the same with salamander the controversy surrounding the introduction of female adeptus custodes has sparked significant outrage among Warhammer fans and the reasons are deeply tied to the franchise's decades long adherence to its lore and traditions for many fans Warhammer isn't just a game it's a meticulously crafted universe that has stood the test of time by remaining consistent in its storytelling the inclusion of female custodians seemingly out of nowhere represents a disruptive break from
that Foundation Warhammer lore built over 40 years established the custodians as an elite genetically engineered male faction directly tied to the emperor's own genetic material fans view this sudden reccon as unnecessary and pandering so social media has been flooded with petitions and boycotts with fans calling out Games Workshop and Amazon for what they perceive as a betrayal one user on a Warhammer Forum lamented it's crazy to think companies would rather lose Millions instead of admitting their wrong and reverting their decision another fan noted the blatant lore inconsistency the funny thing is that they probably would
have made it through this with no major backlash even with their stupid female C custodians if they had just introduced them as something new instead they lied to us and said there were always female custodians as if we don't know the lore the backlash Bears striking similarities to Amazon's handling of the Rings of power and The Wheel of Time where lore-breaking changes were met with widespread criticism in both cases fans accused Amazon of prioritizing inclusivity over staying true to the s material resulting in a fractured fan base and declining interest this pattern has left many
Warhammer enthusiasts worried that their beloved franchise will suffer the same fate Affairs the problem is that Warhammer started to get popular really popular and so it was only a matter of time before it attracted the attention of modern audiences not tabletop Gamers playing today of course or even just women who happen to enjoy the hobby but instead Act activ ists who totally don't give a [ __ ] about anything to do with 40K but just want to score another little victory in the endless war to dominate every single aspect of entertainment and culture the push
to make the world of 40K more diverse and inclusive has been going on for a while now and one of the big objectives they've been gunning for is female Space Marines because truly what woman doesn't want to see herself represented as a psychopathic 8ft tall genetically engineered killing machine it doesn't matter to these people that 30 years of lore says it can't be done it doesn't matter that most actual Gamers don't want to see it happen it doesn't matter that there's already entire armies of female only soldiers specifically created to give women more of a
presence in the game worlds all that matters is winning breaking down another barrier homogenizing and blending everything together into an indistinguishable gray sludge of inclusion gleefully taking another treasured thing away from their enemies so they can gloat about it and push for even greater victories next time and a few days ago they moved one step closer to their goal with the release of a new rule book from Games Workshop where it casually dropped in the fact that female custodies are now apparently a thing [ __ ] that's pretty interesting considering they've literally never been spoken
about before and everything we know about them suggests that can't happen but okay sure Naturally fans were confused by this and when they were questioned about it on Twitter games workshop's response was simple and blunt since the first of the 10,000 were created ated there have always been female custodians liar you know I can't help thinking that you guys are trying to do a bit of rewriting of History here I can't help thinking that you finally started to bow to pressure from Modern audiences and you were almost certainly encouraged to do this by a sudden
infusion of investment money from Black Rock I can't help thinking that maybe you're trying to Gaslight your own fans into believing we've always been at war with East Asia and apparently I'm not the only one but Drinker you absolute Titan of tabletop tactics I hear you say the 40K universe is Rife with misinformation Recons and rewrites things are constantly being changed and added to the lore so why should this be any different I don't remember asking you a goddamn thing well let me stop you there heretic because there's a few little misconceptions that I'd like
to clear up on this one the development of the Warhammer Universe over the past 30 years is less of a constantly shifting chessboard and more like a telescope that's slowly coming into focus in the early days back in the ' 80s things were intentionally vague and a lot of details were still waiting to be filled in because the developers hadn't worked everything out yet but over the years those details have been filled in with hundreds of Articles books games and Rule sets and while certain details might have been corrected and expanded on many times over
the general setting history characters rule books and foundations of the world have actually stayed extremely consistent so no that excuse doesn't wash with me anymore Boo as the stewards of warh lore Games Workshop finds itself in the crossfire allegations have surfaced that the company caved under pressure from Amazon to introduce female custodians as a compromise after rejecting Amazon's initial demand for female Space Marines this has left fans feeling betrayed by Games Workshop as well one user summed up the sentiment they'll insist its sexism and won't explain the Canon or history we've seen this before they'll
triple down before admitting they were wrong for many fans the issue isn't just about the addition of female characters it's about how those changes are implemented fans are frustrated that the move appears disingenuous as though it was designed to appeal to non-players rather than respecting the loyal fan base that has supported the franchise for decades the backlash has escalated to concrete action numerous players have cancelled subscriptions and announced boycotts of Games Workshop products the general sentiment is that this situation could have been avoided if Games Workshop had stood firm against Amazon's demands or introduced female
custodians in a way that respected the established law in essence the controversy isn't just about the inclusion of female characters it's about the erosion of trust Warhammer fans aren't resistant to change but they demand that changes respect the lore that has defined the franchise for fans this feels like another instance of a beloved IP being sacrificed at the altar of modern corporate agendas leaving them questioning whether Games Workshop and Amazon truly understand or even care about the heart of the Warhammer Universe Henry Cav's potential exit from the Warhammer adaptation represents a critical blow to the
Project's viability caval isn't merely a recognizable actor he is the embodiment of what fans hoped the series would stand for respect for the lore and a genuine passion for the franchise his involvement added credibility and excitement setting high expectations for an authentic adaptation without caval the series loses its most significant Advocate and risks alienating the very audience it aims to capture his departure would likely strip the project of its heart and vision leaving it a drift and vulnerable to the same pitfalls that have plagued other mismanaged adaptations this controversy highlights a recurring issue in modern
entertainment the conflict between corporate vendas and the preservation of beloved franchises too often Studios prioritize superficial changes to appeal to broader demographics while disregarding the foundational elements that made the franchises successful these decisions frequently seen as pandering fail to resonate with either the original fan base or the new audiences they hop to attract the pattern is evident across the industry whether with the rings of power or the wheel of time Studios have repeatedly ignored fan concerns only to face widespread backlash and underwhelming results by sidelining core audiences and treating established lore as Expendable they risk
alienating their most loyal supporters and dooming projects to Commercial and critical failure the Warhammer controversy underscores this miscalculation and serves as yet another warning disregarding the fans who built the franchise's success comes at a high price for Henry caval Warhammer isn't just a franchise it's a passion his dedication to staying true to the lore and preserving the Integrity of the universe is what made fans trust him to helm this ambitious adaptation if caval departs it sends a clear message he refuses to stand by while beloved stories are reshaped for headlines and fleeting Applause his involvement
was more than just star power it was a promise to respect the fan base and the legacy of Warhammer without him the series risks losing its guiding force and alienating the very Community it seeks to engage what do you think is Amazon's vision for Warhammer a bold step forward or is it yet another example of corporate meddling ruining what fans love let us know your thoughts in the comments below if you enjoyed this breakdown and want to stay updated on this developing story don't forget to like the video share it with fellow fans and subscribe
