Utah's newly reelected Governor Cox and lieutenant governor DJ Henderson spoke about with the media about concerns in the election process that certain uh counties face yeah yeah we go now to new specialist Cara Bracken who joins us live from the Capal uh Cara our crews were all across the state of Utah and in different places different polling locations we saw some different things hey Dan Sher yeah we saw a steady voter turnout across the state and some of those polling locations we saw those lines of course wrapped around the building and those types of things
that is the same case for Utah County they also saw those long lines but they also saw some extra hiccups they say due to unpreparedness they had some challenges uh challenges that could have been mitigated um there were uh there was some lack of planning uh on the part of the clerk that I think um you know caused some problems that were unnecessary some of those problems included the printer of 13 voting locations in Utah County about a half dozen of those were having problems with the printers by mid morning yesterday the lieutenant governor says
they were told the Utah County Clerk had 10,000 ballots they could use and burn through about half the lieutenant governor confirming a state plane was sent to Arizona to pick up paper in the case Utah County ran out the paper was ultimately not needed it's unclear how the estimated $44,000 for the plane expense will be paid meanwhile thousands of emergency ballots had to be printed and then election workers were sent to to deliver those ballots ultimately each County Clerk is responsible for figuring out what voting should look like in their counties Aon Davidson Utah County
Clerk responding to the mishaps last night caught us off guard and uh you know I take responsibility for not spending a lot of money and preparing for something that we had no idea it was going to be this big I wasn't prepared but uh you know we we were prepared based upon the information that we had now in salake County one incident popped up at one of the polls they say that there was quite a bit a sufficient amount rather of white powder that was put into an envelope they say that that was found not
to be malicious but they are looking into that and investigating another reporting live outside the capital I'm Cara Bracken back to you can't be too careful honestly can't be too careful so all right Cara thanks for the update there you
