I have a secret to share with you I have invented my own chess opening and this opening has never been played before I searched in a database with over 5 million games and not a single person has ever played this so what you're about to see is a new position in chess you've never seen before now I've literally been obsessed these past few days with creating this because I've always wanted to have my own opening so everybody I present to you big cow opening now you may say Anna why are you calling it The Cow
opening well because this opening has everything that a cow has now let me go ahead and show you the moves that you know create this opening and then I'll tell you the story behind it because there is a story that you need to hear to be able to understand it so when I was thinking about cows I was thinking and I wanted to create it to call it the cow opening because my profile picture on chess.com is of a cow and the reason I have this profile picture is because I made a bet with myself
that I would have it until I reached 2300 rating so it's gonna be a little while and you know me and the cow has had to become friends so I knew that I had to call it the cow opening so I thought Anna how do you create something that resembles a cow and I realized that I know the story about a bull called Ferdinand Ferdinand if you haven't heard about the story it's a bull that likes to sit by the grass and smell all the flowers and he's such a calm cow even though he's very
very very big and scary he looks scary but he's not scary so I thought I need to create an opening that looks innocent that will make your opponent think that you're innocent and sweet but that then whenever you get stung by the Bee like Ferdinand did will make yourself the best chess player you've ever been and will create an inner Beast Within you so I decided to create this and the opening goes like this and now you can actually play this both with white and black it's actually a system so you start with the move
E3 here we go and now black can respond in any way they want it doesn't affect you you go ahead and do the stuff the way you want to do it so let's say your opponent replies with D5 which is actually what I encountered in this game when I play the cow opening my opponent went D5 and now what you do is that you go D3 you're just walking one step at a time you're taking very very very small steps but you're not really making bad moves okay what you're trying to do here is that
you're trying to get black to get the full Center and then you strike back by challenging the center so now here let's say black goes E5 which is one of the most standard moves to play here just really grabbing that whole center now you go Knight E2 you're gonna see that the goal of this opening is going to be to place your knight on G3 and then your other Knight on B6 on B3 there we go so here we have the opening here it finishes D3 E3 Knight G3 Knight B3 it's a very easy setup
and you do the exact same setup even if you have the black pieces I will show you a game right after this one where you can see it so you have this little setup these Knights are not badly placed okay um and these pawns are not badly placed either actually none of your pieces are badly placed but the reason this is dupious according to the engine is because you're not really gaining any advantage as why typically you try to make moves that will make you gain an advantage and you're spending quite a lot of time
by moving your knight so much in the opening but the nights are pretty good placed over here the only issue that they have is that sometimes they can get kicked away and you know with time I'm going to start creating variations and I will call it different names let me know in the comments down below if you have any names you'd like to call some of the variations you know someone wanted me to create a variation called The 39 variation or the Bison variation even someone wanted you know wanted this to be called steak variation
I love the cow the cow is a beautiful animal I don't want to call any of these variations the the steak variations so let me know in the comments down below if you have any fun ideas for names but this is basically the opening now in this position my opponent went Rook E8 now you your opponent can do a bunch of different things but what you're pretty much always going to try to do is that you're going to try to get your Bishops out and then immediately Strike Back the center so that black doesn't really
get that much space now this is kind of similar to the king sinbian but reverse rules where white gets old the center gets all the central space but with black you go ahead and challenge the center so what I always try to do with this opening is that I try to get my opponents to over extend they get so confident you know they get so confident they're like oh I have all this space my pieces are developed I have such a great position but they don't know any theory in this opening because they've never seen
this before until they kind of get sometimes too confident and you know what you try to do with the cow opening is that you try to milk I had to sorry you try to milk the position so that you know you try to find small inaccuracies and what your opponent is doing or big blenders or whatever it doesn't matter and you try to win the middle game and end game so even if the opening doesn't get you an advantage it puts you in a position where the opponent doesn't really know what they're doing either and
sometimes they'll spend a lot of time so um I would hear Bishop E2 C6 castles Knight bd7 simply developing the Knight and now I decided to strike the center C4 here we go now I'm starting to get active I'm not just smelling my flowers hanging around no I'm starting to get active and I'm starting to stand up and say hey it's time for me to get my space so C4 I'm I'm challenging the center and the idea is that if my opponent would capture this pawn and take then actually my the default would become pretty
strong here it would become open for my queen and actually after I developed with Bishop E2 Bishop C3 um and I get like my rookson I think I'd be doing totally totally totally fine so I thought this position was pretty good now my opponent went Knight fade which is also a good male simply rerouting the Knight and here I could have you know simply developed on A4 something like that but I decided to go C5 which is maybe slightly dubious okay the engine thinks it's dubious and I I trust the engine but what was my
idea with this one my ideas that I kind of wanted to close down the position and I kind of wanted to just force the bishop to me when I thought my Pawn was doing fine over here so Bishop moved back to C7 and now once again what do you do in the cow opening you attack the center so now I want E4 which I think is fine and then you have E4 is simply that um I'm right now once again kind of challenging the center and if my opponent would capture on e4 takes and takes
I would actually be in a totally fine position this Knight over here is actually defending this Pawn now the Queens would be open and this would be totally fine after something like Bishop G5 Rook C1 I'd probably be you know completely completely equal so after E4 my opponent developed the bishop which is totally fine and I decided to develop the last piece that I had and developed Bishop G5 now I'm putting my Bishop over here because I wanted to pin this Knight and you you can see that even though we started off with what some
people would call it terrible opening that's such a terrible position now it's a very playable position and let me tell you something if you are under 1600 the opening that you play matters zero in fact sometimes and you know and I'm not gonna advocate for playing really random stuff you know you should learn all your all your standard Theory and all that kind of stuff if you really want to improve a test but sometimes you can have some fun and you can play something that will surprise your opponent and I'm not gonna lie people I've
had a 50 win rate with this opening but I the games that I've lost have not been because of the opening it's really been because I've blundered later on but I've had a pretty decent result with this opening even at my level at 2100 in fact I've even gone people being 22 23 under testing out this opening on my stream today and they had a pretty good win rate so I've seen a lot of wins with the cow opening and if you do try this opening let me know in the comments down below how it
went but Bishop G5 now H6 my Bishop got kicked away and I retreated to detail now after the queen went up to East saving putting some pressure on this Pawn I did I played this move F4 which was maybe a little bit too much okay but this is the moment where I felt like I was kind of getting stung by the Bee okay I know if you don't know the story you're gonna think I'm crazy but basically Ferdinand gets in the story that I was talking about telling you before Ferdinand gets stung by a be
and then it hurts so much that he has to stand up from from smelling the flowers and he starts running running running running he does all these crazy tricks he becomes a beast and so all these um Spanish uh matadors they really want him to be in is it called a bull run bull fight because they think that he is the scariest bull of them all when in fact Ferdinand was just stung by a bee and he did not want to be in any bull fight so you know when he got to the bull fight
he just decided to not do anything and everyone got mad and then he got back home and was able to once again smell his flower so this is basically what I'm trying to say with this opening you get stung by the Bee at some point and then you go crazy crazy crazy all aggressive blah blah blah blah you won the game and then oh the cow goes ahead and just breathes in again and yeah that's that's pretty much that so anyways I'm on F4 he captured on F4 and um yeah I had to capture capturing
gold Rook takes and I thought this was pretty fine um I'm right now maybe threatening to push E5 maybe depending a little bit um and I also have some pretty good squares for my knight so I guess the only reason for why I would be worse is because my dark squares are right now pretty weak um yeah I think honestly that is that is that is the main thing right now in this position that my dark squares are pretty weak all of these all of these squares so my point about Knight G6 I retreated to
F1 and now we had takes takes and Bishop takes B3 and in this position I have also the problem that this Pawn is very weak and this one so after Queen takes B3 I lost my C5 pawn and you know things started to look pretty dark for me but with the cow opening somehow the luck is on your side at least that's what I've seen so I was really doing much worse here against the 2100 and I thought you know oh no this is just going to be really bad for me so I moved my
king and my opponent cannot capture on e4 because I have then Queen takes F7 now in this position though my opponent went Rook E7 with the idea of defending this F7 Pawn which makes quite a lot of sense but now my cow Knight on G3 is actually coming into play and I'm able to go Knight F5 kicking away this Rook so The Rook has to go somewhere and actually the only good move that my opponent has is to capture on e4 if my opponent would do something like Rook D7 then I actually have this fantastic
move Knight takes H6 where I'm checking the king and the pawn well if the G Pawn captures my knight I can go Rook takes F6 as the pawn is not defending the Knight anymore so I had all of these ideas the Knight F5 even sometimes I can depending on how the position is sometimes I can also thread a knight takes G7 but right now Knight takes H6 so Rook takes E4 really was the strongest move in this position and now my Bishop is hanging so here I decided to go Queen takes B7 with the idea
that um if my opponent takes my Bishop I'll take the Rook now to my very surprised I mean my opponent had quite a lot of time here my opponent literally immediately just captured the the bishop on E2 and I was shocked in this position my opponent should have gone something like rockafade or Rook theater or whatever just to get the rock out and then threaten this and it would have been I would have been slightly worse in that position but my opponent when Rook takes E2 which was just absolutely insane I was able to capture
the rook and the game was not over the king went up to H7 I was a little bit scared because these Knights wait I feel like that's a meme I think I saw a video called these nights okay these nights um are really strong towards my king and after Rook C1 I'm threatening this queen so I thought he was gonna go something like maybe Queen D5 but then this the idea was that I can then take this pawn and you cannot Checkmate me on G2 so he went Queen E5 instead which looks totally fine I
capture the pawn and now he did this very well not not very now this is a pretty normal move to go Queen takes B2 I mean the queen is getting a little bit off the game uh but still putting some pressure on G2 in this position I decided that I wanted to threaten to go Knight takes G7 this is one of the threats I wanted to have and also Knight takes H6 so I thought my opponent would go 95 threatening my queen uh but actually my opponent did not do that instead they went Knight E4
and now after this move I think the threat was whoops that I did not do that after this move I think they were threatening to go Knight F2 check um and just I mean just kind of ask my king where where my king is gonna go basically so I thought that was the idea um here I could have gone Rick's rookie one or anything like that but okay I decided to do a move that probably wasn't so good but that ended up being good so I went Knight takes H6 which is not a terrible ma'am
um but now my opponent really should go Knight G5 instead after I captured this they had a minute 30 on the clock I went ahead they went ahead capture the night and now after Queen H3 King G5 Rook F5 it was a Checkmate so I checked many opponent now you want me to say Anna this game was terrible you were lost all game long and you just won by a mistake that your opponent did well let me tell you the story This Is The Life of the cow opening every single game you get a loss
position okay not every I've actually seen people that have gone in one position with the cow putting but at my level every single game I get a worse opening but what happens somehow I'm able to I'm I managed to win or get a fantastic position in the middle game in each and every one of those games it's actually insane and I'm going to show you one more game to prove this to you it's really an insane curve that this opening takes you on but it's actually really interesting so this is a game that I won
with the cow opening like I've said I won several games with this opening but I'm going to show you now a way where you can win with the black pieces or you know a way you can play with the black pieces so in this position my opponent went E4 and you know the cow opening has no boundaries you can play with white or with black so I went E6 D3 which you know I wasn't sure if they had maybe Mouse slip D4 I wasn't sure why they were going D3 in fact in this position the
engine already thinks that black is slightly better which is kind of insane um so I'm in D6 Knight detail a very strange opening Choice Knight D7 Knight F3 Knight B6 I mean we follow the same principle of getting the two knights on B6 G6 and then these two pawns you can kind of remember this by maybe thinking about this as a ball you know the bull is the male cow here we can see this is okay listen to this so this is the the face of the cow and then these are the horns wait waitable
does have horns right yeah it does it does exactly how it does they go like this so actually it makes a lot of sense um so that's kind of how you can remember this so in this position my opponent castled and I want Bishop E7 once again develop the bishop quickly and then you Castle C3 and then H5 I decided that instead of castling immediately I wanted to start going H5 H4 and put a little bit of pressure which I don't know we still need to evolve the cow opening Theory um I will come up
and tell you when you know I do some more research what the best moves are but I don't really want to find a refutation yet because that's kind of boring so we'll do this in another episode okay we'll go variation by variation um or at least I'll I'll try to come up with the best variations but that's the way that I'm playing it now as a complete noob in the cow opening so my opponent H4 which is a very normal way of replying to H5 they're trying to stop my Pawn push which could get very
scary so H4 Bishop D7 I developed my other Bishop all the pieces are out now and after D4 I decided to go E5 also very common thing that I've done in pretty much all my cow games immediately challenging the center so I'm not gonna let white get all the central space and have all the fun no I'm gonna challenge the center so now the one A4 with the idea of going A5 and just like my opponent stopped my Pawn push I stopped my opponent's Pawn push B3 and now Bishop G4 pinning this Knight so I
thought here that my opponent that my possession sorry was looking pretty good I really did not mind this position I have ideas of maybe going Queen D7 Bishop H3 or even maybe maybe it depends I can try sometimes to go at five but it really depends because it's kind of scary to go off five when your oppon is on H5 so Queen C2 and here I went C5 because I wanted to open up the C file and get a rook to C8 to kind of annoy this queen to put it that way so D take
C5 takes and now c4 and now I had this fantastic square that I can maybe go to so maybe you know if I was a really good positional chess player I would go Knight f8 96 94 and I would put a knight in the center that would be the strongest night in the world but I did not do that instead I went Queen D7 with the idea of going Bishop H3 and in this position my opponent won Bishop B2 now in this game I was pretty tired okay I was pretty tired and I did a
terrible meal I mean obviously right now this bishop is right now threatening this Pawn right the Knight and the bishop are both threatening this Pawn now for some reason I thought that my knight was on C6 which is the normal place for the Knight to be if you're not playing the cow opening but pick wasn't playing the cow opening obviously my knight was on B6 and you know it's it's position it's horn position and I completely blunder this point I want Bishop H3 and did the biggest oopsie in my life and I just realized I
literally screamed when I went Bishop H3 I was like no because my Pawn was hanging so my opponent captured my Pawn being very happy and now thinking that they were gonna win the game this is it you know opponents get really confident and I mean to be honest they have the right to be because I just blundered upon but still I mean the opening was really not that bad up till this point so takes and then F6 you know I don't know if this was great either I sort of had plans of taking taking getting
the queen and trying to do something like this with F6 I'm kind of blocking this bishop but I just really did not want this thing to be here it was so annoying so Bishop went to sorry C3 I capture the bishop on G3 so that my queen would not you know be forced to to stay here and after King takes Queen G4 Queen D1 trying to exchange Queens I did another oopsie okay there were several oopsies in this game but I promise you this the last oopsie in the game we all do oopsies no matter
what level we're at and last we are Magnus Collison or dingliran or someone rated over 3 000 in Blitz in well in chess.com I am not okay so I do oopsies just like the rest of us just like you do I'm sure you do a lot of oopsies and that's okay we all do them so in this position I completely you know went just went long castles and blunder this Pawn on A5 now I thought it would be good for me to go along castles get my king to safety try to double up my Rooks
but I just completely blundered this Pawn which was really bad so in this game I'd already blundered two pawns I was starting to give up on the opening I said you know what maybe this is not for me maybe this is just plain bad maybe you know it's because of the opening that I've started to play like this after you capture an A5 I went King C7 because my knight was hanging Rook D1 and then I decided to go Rook D3 now the moment my opponent went rookie one I knew that the Milliken could start
I realized okay I am two pawns out but guess what my pieces are very active right now so my opponent just literally lost The Temper by going first here and here I thought this was weird I think the idea was to go Rook E3 they kind of changed their mind but I realized this is the moment where I need to really try to squeeze whatever I can from the position that's kind of what Magnus Carlsen does he always tried to squeeze whatever you know there is from a position and that's why he's able to win
so many drawn in games there's not a drowning game there's a lost position but completely lost because I have some activity for the pawn so I realized very quickly that this bishop doesn't have any squares to go to and this bishop is the only defender of this Knight so I found this move Rook A8 threatening this bishop and the only male that does not lose here is capturing the knight any other move either loses the bishop or the Knight so he captured my knight I capture back and now I realized that I had a plan
this night is terrible if this Knight moves somewhere anywhere I'm gonna take this pawn and B3 and then I'm gonna pick up the other pawn and then this Pawn is going to be weak so actually this Knight is really bad because of my Pawn really taking up a lot of squares here on G4 so this Knight sucks so I thought okay maybe he will go Ricky one but he did not and this is the movie should have done he went Rook E2 and now I decided okay come on Anna keep it going I went back
with my Rook to d8 threatening this night and I thought maybe the night will move but then I'll take the pawn so my opponent went Rook D1 and in this position I found an idea which was where is their dark squared Bishop these dark squares are so ready for my king to you know get in so King A5 and I had a Kira path which was this Square this this Knight right now is pinned I cannot move because the Rook uh will be hanging and if um The Rock Mills then I'll be taking the night
so now my opponent is in a very sticky situation and it's really difficult for my opponent to play this actually so they want king of one which is a good move but now I want King B4 and in this position my opponent didn't really know what to do they went kingy one and here I have this move Bishop D6 and I just once again had a very clear path which was to get my Bishop in here to C3 and pin everything and after Rook B1 which was actually their big mistake they didn't have to go
Rook B1 I mean this is really like what uh what was their uh probably biggest mistake I think even in this position they could go something like night be sorry Knight B1 or something and then after takes takes Bishop takes I'll get my couple pawns back it'll be an equal position but they will not be dead lost but instead they went rugby won I had this bishop E5 which is really strong and actually after this move I am completely winning because my opponent cannot stop Bishop C3 and if they would go Knight F1 I go
Bishop C3 and win the piece actually I'm completely winning here so what did the cow do the cow went from having a completely lost position to milking it until well getting on one and this is what I've seen in many of my games with this opening I get a bad position but somehow in the middle game and end game I'm able to change things around and get a win so this is the cow opening everybody I hope you enjoyed it let me know in the comments down below if you try it and let's see how
many wins we can get on chess.com with this opening it's supposed to be bad but is it really Jazz at the end of the at the end of the day is a practical game we are not engines we don't always play the best moves and sometimes playing an opening that makes your opponent think twice will give you some better results so let me know how it goes for you do I think this is what you should play If you're trying to improve a chess maybe not but should you play it if you want to have
some fun and try something new absolutely thank you so much for watching this video and let's all be a group of cows that does a chest stampede on chess.com okay bye
