Science Clubs 2023. We are in Mocagua, the Amazon; It is something exciting. I really like sharing knowledge and Science Clubs allow you to do that.
I am participating in the science club. I like to be there thinking and learning many things, sharing with the teachers more than anything and I feel good doing science. I am very, very grateful to the people who came here to my community to give this type of workshop.
An opportunity from innovation from ideation from seeing how I can also contribute to a problem. From the first moment they welcomed us They opened their doors their heart is a community that has a lot of appreciation for knowledge. Well, in certain communities in Colombia the most basic things are double, triple work and in this case water is one of those things.
We found that they have access to a hybrid solar plant with a diesel generation system, but the community is a user. It is like the desire to know what that water experiment is like. The first day they took us around, to check out the community, then we had to ask some questions and draw a thousand conclusions from that.
So here we have detected and the community also detected that there is an issue not only of quality, but also of distribution, of availability, despite having a river like the Amazon next to it. We had to measure pH, hardness, lead, mercury. Based on all that we have learned, I can help my community by teaching them how to make homemade filters, in order to have good water for our own consumption.
I have learned how to manage energy, to transform solar energy into electricity. Now the teachers are teaching us new things; Yesterday they put us to make turbines, they taught us to weld, how to make it give more power, continue using more things, more batteries. So with this Club we allow them to open a little the spectrum of knowledge of what was the energy system that they themselves possess.
Well, create our own generators like us so that we can use the panels, use our own generators, without being able to pay for them and our own energy. And they no longer become users, but also participants, in maintaining their energy system. And the final result for us was super cool, because now that we are going to do the final exhibition, we are going to show the community how beautiful it is as a community and young scientist, it was possible to explore or experiment on the subject of water.
The same community did not demonstrate it today at the fair, it was something very beautiful and very nutritious to see that the people, the parents, uncles, cousins. These types of teaching, let's say like this, motivate us. What's more, because sometimes as a young person you feel frustrated at not being able to achieve things and do these types of work, you come to realize that you are ready for great things, right?
Share with you this great experience of this exchange of knowledge with Science Clubs, both with the local youth of the community, of the thought of indigenous peoples. Science is everywhere, in nature, it is in the water. Well, for me it's how we help people.
Science for me is being able to know, find out and investigate things that we do not understand. We as young people should make the future of the community branch as long as Mocagua does not need me to go to another place to look for other scientists, however we already have young people who are already trained. Very good knowledge to defend their prototypes, to defend the solution that they proposed to the problem that we are facing.
So that gives me a lot of peace and that peace is joy. It was a science teacher at my school who realized that I could do it too, so I felt that now it is my vocation, I want to be that person who makes other people who also want to study science feel that they can do it.
