Heh, I'm in Danger | Hermitcraft 11: Episode 10

Hello everyone and welcome back to Hermitcraft season 11 episode 10. We have finally hit double digits on our episodes for this Hermitcraft season and I would say things are going pretty swimmingly so far. Did I mean to make that joke?

Yes, I did. You're welcome. Last episode I built this huge terrain cliff area for my base alongside my Nautilus racing course.

And I'm here to tell you right now that after some feedback on the first two races that we've conducted, I've changed things up just a little bit. So I'm going to give you an update. Due to some navigational issues of people getting lost, I do have a bunch of these kind of arrow light up signs all throughout the raceourse just to help point them in the right direction.

I found my shortcut opening was also way too obvious, so I've added a few extra rocks in there to block off the viewpoint. And I've even made it a little bit tricky to get in there. They've either can either go through this little hole here, which is honestly not too bad at all in a Nautilus, or they can jump over these two or actually three entryways.

Right. right here over the glass and the stone and all that kind of good stuff. A slightly more riskier method to take, but technically faster than the hole as well.

I didn't want to take the option of the shortcut away from them, so I just had to make it a little bit harder. I've also been told by Cleo that actually a lot of hermits, I didn't realize this, but a lot of hermits were racing on the top of the water rather than underneath. And when I made this course, I kind of assumed a lot of people would be under the water rather than above.

So, that was an oversight on my part. And that honestly did lead to that shortcut being actually a very obvious path to take. So hopefully that does fix that.

There is still some more things that I want to do. I want to create more obstacles on the surface to also kind of entice people to go under the water a little bit more. But that is something I will also add over time cuz I feel like they're missing out on this like really cool zone.

I'm really happy with this section. It feels so much fun to go through. And here is another example of one of the arrows.

nice and obvious, but I feel like it's not too contrasty to the environment. Like, it feels pretty good. And I honestly decided to do these as well because it feels a bit more like a raceourse.

I could have gone completely natural and just altered how the terrain looked to lead people a little bit easier, but I I did like the idea of making it at least feel partially like a racehorse. Over on this side, I have moved some roots ever so slightly off to the sides instead of one big one down the middle that I had here previously, so that they can see through to where they need to go. And I've also added some tinted glass on what was previously a natural ravine, so you can still see it, but they're not going to accidentally go wee and just go down into the ravine and get lost there as well.

So, we're trying to cover all bases. I think we're pretty good on navigation now, and hopefully nobody should be getting lost in the third race. So, anyhoo, those are the changes.

Pretty happy with them. I guess we'll see what happens when the next week starts. Lots of things have also been changing with my neighbors.

False has been doing plenty of terraforming and everything. This is very, very cool. Very stylistic and cannot wait to see what she does cuz she's starting to build on this island now with Fals's terraforming Scar's mountain and my cliff face.

This is going to be a pretty interesting looking area and I can't wait to see it. Not to mention Red has been busy over here building this really cool looking courtyard area. So, this is very exciting.

and Cleo has also been making progress on their base as well. Also looking very cool and I love the palette that they've got going on. But right that leads me back to my zone.

I'm going to start off the episode today feeling very inspired and I want to follow through with that. With all of the new terrain made, I am more ready than ever to add my fluffy details to it and really bring the environment together even more. Let's get started.

I remember in a previous episode I talked about potentially removing my eucalyptus trees here because I was informed that they're actually highly flammable in real life. But uh you know what? Seeing as they're right next to the fire station, it means I can act pretty quick on them.

And I would personally love to keep these around. They're a pretty iconic part of the Aussie landscape. So I'm actually going to do the opposite instead of removing them.

And I'm going to grab this tree style and plant a few more of those down in various spots. I'm going to jump in here as a post editing pearl to give a little bit of context. So, I finished building the trees and went to bed and then proceeded to get up early in the morning to start the next phase of the building process of the area.

And well, in the chat, Impulse was talking about suddenly being teleported thousands and thousands of blocks away. And that was apparently just after a server crash. So, we thought it maybe was a bug at first and then uh I got a little bit of a sudden visit.

Let's just say that. Hey, bro. What doing?

Maybe I should ask you lot that. What's going on with Impulse? We were getting some weird lag for a while.

Literally, the server lagged. It restarted and now Impulse is 100,000 blocks away. And it just happens just like that.

That's really strange. Yeah, that's weird. That's really weird.

Yes, very much so. So, I'm trying to register what is happening here exactly. But now that you've lot of here, it makes sense.

Maybe this is where I start my new little survival adventure. You know, I've also got all my stuff from my building that I was about to do. Okay, you know what?

All right, so we have a new pivot for the episode. Uh, let's build ourselves a nice little cottage. I got my nice stone base here we can do.

This will be all cute and lovely and very pretty. Going to make it out of some birch planks and everything. Oh, it's going to be so good.

They knew exactly what they were doing. I mean, it wasn't them, but they knew exactly what they were doing. Of course, they teleported the fire lady to the fire.

That is so smart considering you're so far away. Oh my gosh, that's amazing. Look at that.

How did they know? All right, we can use stairs as like walls and everything. This would make for a really nice like cottage cabiny feel in the birch forest.

Maybe we can plant some flowers and such next to it. Okay, this looks terrible, but we'll get there. You know, they've all left the game at this.

I believe they're not they're not just going to leave me out here. It's fine. All right.

These are for fire purposes only. And I have not seen them say fire in any regard. I joined and there has been no mention of fire in the chat.

So, they cannot use that as an excuse. And I have heard nothing. They will hear from my lawyer when I get back.

I did. I said for a long time that idea impulse thank you for being part of the experiment. Wait, but I'm confused.

Put your pearl back in there just in case there's a fire on the server, you know. I'm kind of confused actually cuz didn't we just have a whole chunk of server lag? Just put your pearl back in in case there's a fire or something.

Okay. My gosh, that is not how I expected to wake up this morning. Anyway, last last we left off, I was building the trees, and now I can show you them so we can get on to the next stage.

Look at my trees. Don't that look so good? So nice and beautiful and fluffy.

Oh, and I got to clean up Jim's mess as well. Look at it. She just left it here on the bridge.

What an absolute mess. But anyh who, trees. Do you like them?

What do you think? You can even walk through through them as well down here. They're on either side of the little path that I was talking about mocking out.

And honestly, I think this path over here, this has got to be one of my favorite spots in the base now. Cuz if you come from the other direction in the bridge, just look how crazy this is. You're just enveloped by trees in here.

It's so nice. I've got to got to work on the path. That's going to be the next step.

But otherwise, it's just really lovely in here. And look, we can go over here, too. And with this tree next to it, you get this beautiful view of Scar's Mountain and apparently Hermitcraft 11 clouds.

All right, the next step is we're going to add some more ground cover to this area. We're going to define these paths. We're going to decorate it.

We need to add a little bit of texture so it's not just grass. That should make it all come together. Honestly, quite quite lovely.

The paths are in and I'm ready to show you what they look like. But I am going to go into free cam cuz it's going to be a little bit easy to show you all what it looks like and thoroughly go over everything. Let's leave my little self perch there on the tree and glide over to the left hand side here.

And I love the transformation that I've done. I have removed a lot of the grass and added packed mud here instead. I know it does blend in a bit more with the surroundings around it, but I think in the inspired landscape where I got this from originally, it is very just brown in general.

So, I didn't want to shy away too much from using that in the ground. And I think it works really well coming down to the shoreline here. And I've also made it feel a bit more dry and arrowid with some dead bushes and even some firefly bushes mixed in there as well.

But look at the slope. It looks so nice, the curve and everything. and then contrasted with a bit of the lush greenery and the floofiness.

And I even wanted to add in a little bit of a story element or lore element to it where maybe whoever lives in this area decided to make a bit of a fishing dock down into the river here. So nice and quaint and lovely with some campfires and some shelves on the side as decoration. I think works really well.

Moving on right up that path all the way to the very top. And I have flattened this area out a little bit and shaped it a bit more nicely cuz it was looking pretty like 90° angle before so it flows a lot better. I've continued the path all the way up to the top to the trucks.

And I've even added a little bit of a viewing space there. So you can look at Scar's Mountain again or you can look over to Fals's area or Wells. It's a really nice viewing spot I reckon.

Moving on to the right hand side here. You can see I've textured the ground a lot more in this zone specifically. I've used some green terracotta, moss, and even some light green or lime concrete powder for the brighter sections.

And I think it's honestly creates a pretty nice atmosphere. And you can also see I've widened up the paths that I had there. I've shaped them a little bit nicer.

And I've decided to use oak slabs as just a bit of a nicer thing to walk on when you're navigating the pathways themselves. Honestly, I'm going to say it right now. If added dirt path slabs, that would be amazing.

It would just make this area feel so much nicer. But for now, oak slabs are the closest. And to bring it all together, I added a bit of bone meal as well, just to make the whole thing a bit fluffier with our grass.

And yeah, I love it. And even looking from overhead, you can see the flow of the paths. And I'm just I'm so excited about it.

It's awesome. That leads me to my next stage, and that is actually going to be changing the color of the river. Just a little bit.

Not completely, just a little bit. But unfortunately, I do not have access to change the biome. So, I'm going to have to change the water color in a bit of a different way.

And what other way to do that than with boxes and boxes of glass. When I was looking up inspiration pictures for the landscape, a lot of the water was a little bit more on the brown and muddier side, whereas this is very contrasty blue. So, let's bring a little bit of the brown stained kind of color hue into the area.

I think it's going to bring it together really, really nicely. Cleo. Cleo.

You're you're like nice little see-through sparkle maps, but instead of sparkles, bird poop. I think it would add to my base's atmosphere wonderfully, and I would be very eternally grateful if you made me some poop. Please.

Uh, I can make you map poop if that's what you really wish. Yes, absolutely. The white stark annoying poop that doesn't look like diorite.

Just poop. Okay. Do you want little bits of brown in it?

is I mean is that depends. Is that accurate? I mean bird like Have you never seen bird poop?

I mean I have. I've also seen blue poop when they're eating blueberries, you know. Have you ever seen a bird poop blueberries before?

I haven't. No. They poop blueberries.

I get creative with XP. Just get creative with the blue. I mean, yeah, if the brown works, you can add a bit of brown in there, too.

You know, a little bit of yellow, a little bit of opakqueness with some gloss, you know. I can do that. In fact, I was I was I was just about to put Monautilus away.

I I can probably go and do that now. Right now? Really?

I mean, I've got to clear off the the map that I've already got there, but yeah, I can probably go and do that on stream. That's fine. Yeah.

For a little bit of context as to why I just asked Cleo to make me some poop. Look at my little BBS. I got some jungle BBS.

I got some cockatos in the trees or some cockatils depending how you look at it. And I'm going to slowly collect these over the season and it's going to feel alive and I'm so excited. Oh, I'm so excited.

And then there's going to be little bird poops on the ground. It's just going to add so much. And Cle's going to do that with map art vanilla.

I'm I'm excited about poop. It's not a word I thought I would say today, but it is. How's it going, Cleo?

Oh, that's great. I feel like I I I feel like that's showing what a cockatu a tree full of cockatos is going to look like in Australia. Yeah, that is great.

Cleo, you're amazing. Thank you for your poop. Yes, I know that tree clip was random, but I got a sudden burst of inspiration for that and had to include Cleo in it and I think it was a little bit of fun.

Plus, it looks good. Anywh who, let me show you the glass that I've put in. As you can see here, we still have the blue of the river and it is perfectly navigable as it is.

It still exists. That's fine. All I've done is I've put a little bit of that brown glass on splotches around the sides as if like the mud or the dirt has fallen or come off the rocks into the water and is slowly seeping and changing its color.

I think it helps make it feel a bit more murky. And is that correct atmosphere that I'm looking for? Uh alongside the jumping bubble fish.

Look at them bounce. Hello. Anywh who, you can also see I've added a little bit of glass onto the edges here on top of the roots.

I found they were just like really starkly hitting that coarse dirt. And that glass overlay over the top just makes it a little bit softer to look at. You'll also notice on the rocks that I've added some walls on there just to shape them a little bit nicer alongside some fence detailing to make the tunnel a little bit cooler to look at mixed in with the terrain there.

And I've broken the bridge a little bit so you do have the nice view down to the overhang below which I'm really happy with. Coming in from a different angle here. I'm a really big fan of the subtle effect that the glass is making in this zone.

And you can fly through here and make it even a fun Elijah course if you want. I enjoy doing that all the time. Is this also where I tell you that yet another nautilus race has occurred here again already?

And uh let's just say it was a raging success for me. Going into these Nautilus races, I could not have expected the result that is occurring, but it's been a lot of fun. I'm having a great time so far.

I'm not going to include all the races in the video because it is very sy. It is technically five to six races of this over the course of a few weeks. But if you do want to see these races, do let me know and maybe I can put them on the pearlescent moo channel instead if you want to just see how that went there.

But you know, everyone, I think this is where I'm going to leave the video for today. It's a bit of a long one. We did a lot of building and I had a completely unexpected interaction with Gem, Etho, Gri, and Impulse there.

I I think it's some of the it's probably one of my most favorite terrain pieces, I think, that I've made in Minecraft so far. It just it feels like home to me, and that means a lot.
