Yeah, very good morning. Uh, everyone recovered. Probably Ian Wright hasn't.
And a few Arsenal fans are waking up thinking, "Oh my goodness, uh, what just happened? " It was an extraordinary end to a really high stakes game, wasn't it? As you just saw, deep into injury time, a monumental moment in this title race.
But as you also heard from Gary Neville, the biggest V decision it's probably had to make since it came uh into since it was introduced in 2019. 4 minutes 17 seconds of pure agony for everybody watching in the stadium, fans around the world and especially those fans uh in Manchester wearing blue as well. 17 replays and in the end Callum Wilson's goal was ruled out after the match.
It clearly was the biggest topic of conversation. No surprise. It has massive ramifications at both ends of the table.
Arteta called it brave and he was glad that referees acted with clarity. Nunosto Santa had a rather different view. Here are both the managers after the game.
probably today I have realized how difficult and how big is a referee's job because you're talking about a moment that can decide the the history the course of two massive clubs that they are fighting with their lives to achieve their objectives and uh the pressure is huge in the most chaotic circumstances when two teams are playing for their lives a call from the refs that I think it's very brave but very consistent with what they've been talking about all season. So when I have to be critical, I have been and today I have to praise them at least for giving the option to a referee to decide. Um away from the lights and the chaos to give clarity to him to make the right call and I think when you look at the action in that way I think it is an obvious error and um it is a free kick and the goal has to be disallowed.
lack of consistency in the decisions. I think um in this previous recent seasons he's been having a lot of blocking, grappling, holding almost like a wrestling situation that all all of us don't understand what is a foul, what isn't a foul. I think even the referees confuse themselves um and is upsetting due to the due duality of of criteria.
Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. And today is frustrating to to come to the clubs and explain and show and try to explain why sometimes it is, sometimes it's not, sometimes it's a goal, sometimes not a goal because um everybody feel confused and today we are we are upset and we are sad. So victory means a huge step for Arsenal in their bid to win that first title in 22 years.
What's the picture like now for the run in Gale? You say big. I think yesterday it was pretty monumental, wasn't it?
It felt like a moment for them because champions win games, they don't look like winning. And for those 4 minutes 17 seconds yesterday, it really looked like drop points. And the Arsenal fans that I've spoken to said it would be so typical of Arsenal to go and do that at this stage, 36 games in.
We know that Arsenal only really need to concentrate on themselves now. It's Burnley at home already relegated Crystal Palace on the final day uh of the season for them and they will of course have a conference final a few days later. So they do their jobs, they go uh and win this Premier League for the first time in 22 years.
And it may even come earlier. It may even come uh on Monday evening against Burnley here if Manchester City uh drop points in their games. remember it's Crystal Palace for them, it's Bournemouth and then it is Aston Villa.
And I think Arteta spoke after the game. Um praised his team understandably because they had to change course a couple of times, didn't they, after that Ben White injury. He admitted he got it wrong in in bringing on players, bringing off players, but he spoken to them in the dressing room yesterday and just said, "Whatever happens at the end, we are going for it.
" uh because they knew that this week of all weeks having booked their place in a Champions League final that's off the back of coming through a potentially difficult game against Fulham to go to West Ham to get the result. That was the the one game uh that really really uh could have been a stumbling block uh and they got the job done only just certainly luck may have played a part but but luck you need that to become champions. Artetto has said that in interviews before.
So here they are on the verge of uh making history uh Burnley and Crystal Palace and they'll get to lift that trophy for the first time in over two decades if they can win both those games. Thanks very much, Gail.
