been a lot of chatter over the past few months about the rise of artificial intelligence in the workplace now some schools and businesses have already banned the use of AI productivity tools like chat GPT but there could be some benefits yeah a virtual assistant like that could turn a Word document into a PowerPoint presentation within seconds but of course there are also risks as well joining us now talk about the pros and cons of AI in the workplace is James Barlow the founder of Triumph technology solution thanks so much for being with us absolutely Pleasant
pleasure to be here all right so one of the biggest concerns is that some people will actually lose their jobs because of AI it's sort of doing things that people used to do sometimes in a lot a shorter time span than a person money to do it what are the industries that are going to be really impacted do you think sure um you know I I think um you know obviously my sector uh the the tech the technology sector uh is definitely going to be impacted but we don't look at it as a job replacer
we look at it as something that's going to make um us able to do our job more efficiently so we're encouraging uh our Engineers for example um you know and and um Architects to leverage chat GPT to help maybe build the foundation for some of the code that they're writing for our customers so I don't necessarily see uh jobs being cut I see it making enhancing our ability to really though come on like like if my job is to code a program right and it takes me in eight hours I I can do x amount
of code and I do chat TBT it does that amount of code in 12 minutes at what point is it bye-bye Corey and I just use the chat gbt that's a great question but here's the thing you still need the human element to it at the end of the day and if you can finish your project faster as a result of chat gbt now you can move on to the next one for the next customer so as a result you can kind of do more in in a faster you know a more efficient period of
time and that's how we're looking at it all right so to that point about the pros what are some of the industries where AI can really help sure I mean again I think you know that the technology industry is one I think um you know uh in in the recruiting industry that's another place technology can really help because it can allow you know um recruiters and and talent sourcers to be able to write job descriptions faster for example so I think there are two examples where this can definitely definitely help okay so I'm going to
throw this at you this is no preparation mind you but I saw this last night I was online and I saw this and I listened to this song it's Drake in uh the weekend this this song uh it's a great it's amazing song turns out it's done by AI so it's not their voices singing the song it you know it was written by a person but it's electronic for it's AI but it sounded like them and it was a really good song a lot of uh the streaming service is actually pulling the song off after
millions of downloads millions of streams I mean there's all these ethical issues here if you have uh AI doing what people do as well as people do it isn't that a problem now that that that I can definitely see is a problem because especially when in in you know the um the music business and and you know artists right because we have ai that can generate artwork we have ai that can generate photography we have ai that can can now generate films for example you know and and um when people try to pass this off
as their own that that could potentially raise an ethical problem so I agree with you 100 on that um and uh you know we're gonna see that more and more and what needs to happen is uh you know they they need to acknowledge like hey this art or this Photograph or this video was generated by AI right and that's ultimately what needs to happen in my opinion yeah well James it is an interesting debate topic it is an evolving discussion we thank you so much for your time today absolutely thanks for having me okay and
