here in San Diego the 35th annual all-people celebration was back in person today for the first time since the pandemic more than 700 people attended the event to honor the late civil rights activist inside the Balboa Park Activity Center CBS 8's Abby Alford shares how young people are committed to carrying on Dr King's dream Dr King's message of equality still resonates today and for our younger generation they say it's to never give up and keep fighting [Music] a message of resilience heard from a crowd celebrating The Life and Legacy of Dr Martin Luther King Jr
[Music] he's just like a really good example about how we need to be like resilient and keep trying and just keep going no matter what happens that zillions can be found in anyone he represents the power of the regular person the power of Dr King's mission to be kind is resonating with all generations I think he's very nice young people continue to learn to understand what the Civil Rights activist stood for a lot to me because he helped um fight for silver rut civil rights and he changed that black people should be treated better almost
60 years ago I have a dream and Dr King's Speech has not faded away and we have to really explain how you actually do have to see color and how it's important to recognize everyone and their experiences by recognizing color Zeta Estrada says that she recognizes who she is it's a struggle because I'm not black enough for some I'm not Mexican enough for some so it's like who am I he was out and he fought for us so I am proud of myself and who I am and because of him Dr King is a man
who continues to empower our neighbors to be proud stewards of the community I think he also represents the power of community create change and strengthen resilience we're still growing every day and still fighting in Balboa Park I'm Abby Alford CBS 8. thank you
