that way you'll never miss my future videos alright so today is part number two of how to start a car detailing business if you haven't seen part number one on how to start your mobile car detailing business I'll drop the link up here you can click that on your mobile device and I'll also include the link in the description down below so that was mainly about what tools and equipments you'll need to start your mobile detailing business today we're going to talk about a topic that has been asked a lot by my viewers and that's
how do you get customers and also how do you price your services okay so how do you get customers well I'll break that down into nine easy steps so step number one you got to learn your craft so you started your mobile detailing business or you're a DIY enthusiast that wants to go pro and you work from your home well you got to make sure that you stay up to date with the latest products tools trends and techniques that way you don't get left behind and you can offer the latest and greatest products to your
customers also you can take some detailing classes a quick online search and you'll be able to find some in your local area and that way if you're a starter you'll learn to perfect the techniques and improve yourselves and if you're a expert or almost a professional well that way you'll just make sure that you hone in and you polish those final steps to make sure that you're top-notch so step number two you can start by detailing the cars of your friends and family that way they will help spread the word around that you're offering some
great car detailing services you can also drop some fliers about your services into people's mailboxes in your neighborhood and finally you can also offer your services on local car forums that's usually the three ways that people start their detailing careers with step number three go on social media now 20 years ago when I first started car detailing all we had were a couple of online car forums but social media has exploded since 2006 and I'd strongly recommend that you open a Facebook Twitter or Instagram or snapchat account and that way you'll be able to communicate
with your local community and offer your services that way because let's be honest a lot of people search for Detailers online another awesome awesome platform that you have to be on is YouTube so many Detailers out there offer videos so a form of tutorials how to and DIY videos to their customers and it serves two purposes one you'll get a greater audience and the word will spread even quicker on how professional you are and the type of services that you offer and also those videos can help to educate your potential customers on what kind of
work you do so if a picture is worth a thousand words while a video is worth a million so your potential customers will be able to visualize the type of work that you could do to their vehicle and see what kind of steps are involved so if you're kind of shy and you don't want your channel to be public that's fine you can set your videos in private mode and you only have to share the link with your potential customer so only they will see your video step number four always try to over-deliver a bit
and that way your customer is really going to feel special so for example if they just took a basic car wash so an exterior wash what you can do to finish things off is spray a quick detailing spray or a quick spray wax on the car so that way you'll give them a bit of protection a little boost and shine that the paint will feel slick and you've over delivered without breaking the bank also always make sure to add personalized touches so you can give them your business card when you're done and also what I
was doing when I first started was to give a personalized sheet kind of like this one with all the detailed steps and what products I was using for each step and that way the customer would know exactly what was done to their car they can notice that you were using some professional and high quality products and they can show this to family and friends and if they're enthusiasts in there they're going to notice that you're using some quality stuff and you're doing the right steps so for example on the sheet I talked about the pre-wash
the complete washing cleaning of the wheels the decontamination of the paint the clay bar on the finish the complete compounding and polishing of the paint removal of the polishing oils application of ceramic coatings and so on and so forth so this is a cool little personalized touch that will make them feel special step number five always be polite and super courteous so you can confirm the appointment with your customer one or two days before buy either text or phone so it depends on their personal preference and when you're working always make sure that you're clean
and you look professional and you're dressed for the part that plays a big impact and a first impression is a long-lasting one step number six so when you pull up to their home or when they come over to yours make sure that you greet the customer and have a little chitchat with them by doing a walk around of the vehicle that way you'll be able to assess the state of the car from the outside and the inside and you'll also be able to confirm the steps that you're about to do on the car so that
way everybody's on the same page step number seven always make sure you ask your customer if there's any area or problematic spot in particular that they want you to attend to cuz they always focus on those things so it could be a scratch in the paint it could be a smell or some kind of a spill in the car make sure that you have that special need covered because they'll be honing in on that and they'll be seeing to see if you corrected the issue step number eight when you're done go get your customer and
make sure you do a final results walk-around with them that way you'll be able to point out all the differences of the before and after also point out some problematic areas that you corrected because don't forget it's a lot for a customer to take in and they might not notice every single detail when they do the walk around so that's when you're there with them to point to the the things that you actually did and they'll feel even better knowing that she took care of some areas that they never even thought of step number nine
if you're working at the customers place make sure that you leave no mess behind when you're done because the last thing a customer wants is to find the place messier than before you arrived so if you follow these simple steps you'll gain a lot of potential customers and also don't forget that a happy customer is worth a thousand more because they'll help spread the word around of the quality work that you're doing and also in the detailing business what's cool is that customers are usually super loyal so when they find a detailer that they enjoy
and that they appreciate the keeping for years to come because don't forget that a vehicle is kind of like their home it's a personal item and they don't let anybody get into their business and take care of their things so if they find a detailer that they appreciate they'll make sure to contact them every single time that they have a need for car detailing all right so now that you have a customer base let's move on to the second part which is how do you price your services so I'll break that down into five easy
steps okay so step number one is to go around and do your research to make sure you know how much Detailers in your area are charging and what services they're offering that's super important because that way you'll be able to assess what kind of target customers there are so are we talking about an area where people have a higher than average salary so they might go for the full exterior and interior detailing packages so paint correction ceramic coatings so on and so forth or are we talking about an area with a bit less income where
they just go for basic exterior and interior car washes so those are questions that you'll have to look into so that way you'll be able to price your services accordingly and also to make sure that you're not offering services that won't be taken by people in your area step number two in the beginning you'll find that you're charging a lot less than you should or that you feel that you should be getting for the services you're offering and don't worry that's totally normal so when you're starting your business you want to make sure to attract
new customers and of course to do so you're going to lower your prices a bit to make sure that your attack attract potential customers and your eventual quality of work and the quality of craftsmanship that you'll offer well they'll come back and you'll be able to adjust your prices accordingly but of course when you start off you can be charging the same price as somebody who's been in the business for five ten or fifteen years that's totally normal step number three be very clear on what kind of services you're offering so once you've found what
kind of niche do you want to be in well you got to make sure that you're clear with your customers so are you offering just the exterior carwashes are you doing just an interior detail are you doing both exterior and interior and full detailing packages such as pre washes washes paint decontamination paint correction so compounds and polishes paint protection waxes sealants ceramic coatings so on and so forth also make sure you always use a clear and simple language don't get into detailing lingo with your customers because you're gonna scare them it's very important to educate
your customers on the work that you'll be doing and also they have to understand the steps so don't make it too complicated you don't have to talk about well I'm going to be correcting your paint in a multi three-stage process and know what you could do is just simplify the process and say well we'll be removing the swirls and your scratches from your paint through polishing and we'll be protecting that paint with either a carnauba wax that's typically lasts two to three months or a synthetic paint sealant that lasts up to six months and if
you want the ultimate protection we offer ceramic coatings so ceramic coatings are silica dioxide and they help protect your car even further up to two three years or more depending on what type of product so it's all in how you explain things to your customers keep things simple and don't offer a thousand detailing packages that's the most common mistake that I see it's like when you go to the restaurant and you look at the menu if there are 52 items on the menu it's a hard for you to decide and hard for you to make
the correct choice so simplify things offer less packages and make sure that you explain those packages and the advantages of going to an upper package to your customer so step number four we touched about it a bit in step number three is to make sure that you communicate with your customer so communication is key if everybody's on the same page while everybody will be satisfied of the work performed so again be sure to explain the processes in simple terms and to explain clearly what will be done to the vehicle and also you got to make
sure that the customer understands these steps so if the customer understands they'll be able to enjoy the final result and they'll better understand the entire process and what you've done to their car step number five when you're talking to the customer make sure you establish one their budget and two their expectations so of course if they're paying for a standard carwash of the exterior well they can expect some pain correction to be done as well and you gotta explain that to them so if they have any scratches or swirls for example that they would like
removed well then you have to explain to them that a simple exterior wash will not take care of that they'd have to move up to a paint correction so decontaminating the paint and then polishing the paint to remove those scratches and after you've polished the paint you want to protect your finish with either a wax a sealant or a coating so you establish the budget first so that way everybody is on the same page as far as how much money will be invested and you also explain the kind of time and hours that will be
needed to perform the job so of course for a simple car wash that takes 30 to 45 minutes a customer can expect the same results as a 5 to 6 hour full paint correction so as long as they understand that both parties will be satisfied and that way they'll keep coming back for more so guys today we established on how to start getting customers and also how you can price your services so guys I hope you enjoyed the video as I said this is part number two part number one was how to start your mobile
