Okay it like 70 per break or for the entire so there's like different meals like it's 65 or 70s that's like the average cost yeah what do you expect bro it's Dubai and it's kind of annoying okay so the opening ceremony there'll just be like maybe a performance they'll explain some stuff about the conference this is going to be Like an introduction to the conference they might have um where is it they might have these people talk as well like I was saying there'd be like people from the UN come and talk this is a
list of the speakers that are going to come crazy pictures but yeah I'll send this whole document as well after the meeting someone's here okay then dinner break we won't be like doing much we'll probably order food first first committee session so I Have this document it's from the last conference we went to it's a delegate handbook it's better than this one this one's pretty [ __ ] so I'll use this to explain everything I'll explain what you'll do in the committee sessions but I'm just showing the schedule for now you'll have your first committee
session till 10 p.m. that's the end of the day so 3: till 10 p.m. on Wednesday Thursday it'll start from around 9:00 a.m. yeah Straight away you'll be there 9:00 a.m. and you'll start your second committee session I don't exactly know what this is but I don't think it's that important for delegates launch break we have food I mean if we order food another committee session this as well I don't have many details on it but it'll involve you guys you guys will do something but it'll be kind of fun okay so the dance SL
game night is basically a complication it's Just a party it's going to be informal you can talk to people you can do whatever you one it's it's just a regular party it's going to be till 12:00 a.m. though so I don't know if most of you guys can stay if you don't want to stay you can leave after 9:00 p.m. or like 700 p.m. if you want up to you completely and then the last day another last committee session you'll probably do resolutions or something food and Then the closing ceremony so there'll be Awards distributed
and stuff like that I'll send this document over once we're done I'll move on certificate what what did you say is there a participation certificate yeah yeah there is of course okay what's in this I haven't really gone over this myself so I have no idea what's in this a bunch of random [ __ ] that you don't need to know okay this is very important your Committee topic so there's going to be around this many committees so there will be two agendas they've named them topics so what will happen is in your committee you'll
like start with the first agenda once this agenda is completely over with the next agenda starts so you guys will have to prepare for two different agendas in our last years like School Amun we only had like one topic but here is pretty complicated it's like over the span of Three days so you'll have two different agendas to prepare for also I have to state that the committee sizes you shouldn't expect it to be anything like if you know the the committee sizes will be larger than what you expect so like 50 60 people will
be kind of the norm if you guys want you can read over it economic and financial committee the general assembly legal committee blah blah blah Blah do we get to choose which commune to join okay so about that when like soon enough you guys will get an email from the MU and they' probably have like a form in there and in that form you select three preferred committees I think it'll be three that's the normal like amount you'd pick three committees and there's a chance you'll get one of those three committees but it's usually unlikely
I don't know why but every conference I've been to like whenever I Pick a preferred committee I never get the committee I pick for some reason um I don't think any of this is important as well yeah this document is pretty [ __ ] I can't lie okay wait how big is the conference room um there's probably some pictures in here so let me see okay so this could be an example this is probably from one of the conferences Uh oh wait will we speak on our own place or will we have to like get
up and go um I can see microphones here so there's no way you're getting up and going there's probably microphones yeah there's microphones everywhere and they have free Wi-Fi right yeah and we're allowed to bring devices MH yeah okay this is about resolutions I'll get into it later when I explain actual mu procedure are you recording this yeah I think I am yeah I Am where was that okay so I guess this is the criteria for rewards okay I guess this can be considered important you can read this this is basically what you have to
do order to win an award and this is all the awards that will be in one committee it's honestly going to be pretty hard to win cuz the sizes of the Committees there will be like 50 60 people and there's only like one two three four Awards yeah That's crazy four Awards per committee or yeah yeah per committee per committee oh okay for this the best delegation it means like best school so like when we went to um this our own School diplomacy conference like we won best delegation so this is going to be the
best school basically okay yeah this is important too I guess yeah make sure like Apparently they're going to give some the [ __ ] did I just do they're going to give some security passes to you guys you don't like keep them with you don't lose them at all because they're like they won't let you in without it food and beverage no food okay I'm guessing none of you smoke hopefully okay this is nothing yeah like I was saying over here is well it mentioned about just code the just code for this conference is West
informal It's like strictly West informal cuz they're based out of New York okay anyways this this document is pretty bad let me see if there's anything I missed yeah that's pretty much it I'll send this but I don't find this that useful okay so this one this is pretty well made this is from the last conference we went to I'll use this to explain regular mu procedure do you guys need an introduction to the UN I'm pretty sure you guys doing right yeah can okay all right I'll still go over this because a lot of
you are beginners an mu is a simulation of the United Nations committees you'll be taking roles as diplomats representing different countries and you'll be tackling issues like the real un so basically the point of an mu when there's an issue with hand and you'll be resolving these issues with the rest of the Committee but with the rest of the committee I don't mean that you have to be friends with them necessarily only in some parts of the conference like making resolutions where you'll be making blocks which like I'll get into it later so there's three
types of quote unquote people in an mu delegates you guys know that chairs will be like the people that are responsible for the entire committee they'll be judging you so usually there's two chairs but for an Mu of this size I'm guessing there will be three maybe and Secretariat members are basically members of the head staff team they manage everything and this is some basic mu ter terminology OB staining means like avoid like don't they don't want to take part ajour like suspend agenda I pretty sure you guys know what this is an amendment is
a change and this is made in resolutions I'll go over this when we move to Res resolution a block as I mentioned before it's a group of delegates and they agree on certain principles agree on certain principles this usually means they're formal allies so like Pakistan and India they won't really agree on certain principles so a CH I already explained this a close session um yeah this doesn't really matter a consensus it's pretty common English word it's just an agreement Crisis Comm so a crisis in an mu it's literally in the name there's going to
be a global issue happening but in a crisis committee there's always a crisis happening so you have one crisis you solve it there's going to be another crisis right after I haven't been in a crisis committee ever so I couldn't really explain it but from what I've heard they're not that entertaining deum is like you know just be yeah in Order delegate I don't have to explain this a delegate handb is just like a guide for delegates draft resolution is just a document and it's going to be like having you know what I'll just explain
it when we move on to there because I don't want to confuse you guys right now formal debate everyone knows what this is lobbying this is usually done in unmoderated caucuses an unmoderated caucus is Just a regular caucus where you're not informal session so you can like you know get up walk around talk to anyone next to you Etc a moderated caucus is where you are in formal session you can't be like cross talking with anyone you have to be in third person so another important thing you can't just say I or she he the
whatever Etc when you're referring to yourself so let's say I'm representing Pakistan or something I'll refer to Myself as the delegate of Pakistan I won't call myself by I or anything I won't be using any personal pronouns so I'll be like the delegate of Pakistan etc etc as well as when I'm referring to another delegate I'll be referring by their delegation so let's say there's someone I'm talking to there by United States I'll be like the delegate of United States so never use personal pronouns you lose points if you do that during formal Session yeah
is we allowed like I've seen some examples um so this there's a difference of opinion some chairs allow it some chairs don't allow it but I'd usually recommend not using Wii you what one thing before I move on what if we get a country that we don't like deal with it what if someone gets Israel and obviously I don't think they'd give Israel bro oh thank God even if they do you'd have to work With it but I really don't think they would considering what's going on globally oh emotion there's different type of emotions uh
it's like you know moving into different sections of the conference U they're probably below I'll explain it observe it unnecessary app PL card a PL card is just a card that'll be on your desk so like I think you could see here okay this conference doesn't have actual pla cars they have like digital screens Fancy as hell but it'll have like your delegation's name on it so like the country's name name um do we have to use the you know whatever we had to use last year in the school like for saying to use the
restroom and all we have to use the same lines for that as well yeah yeah yeah so you raise your pla card You' be like and then you would raise the point so if you want to use the restroom or something you'd be like point of personal Privilege May the delegate of blah blah blah use the wash washroom restroom whatever yeah okay a position paper this is important so a position paper is something you submit to your chairs before the conference even happens so like a position paper it'll just involve your country's stance on the
agenda so like your country's opinion on it so I have some examples here I can show them to you like so this was an uh a position paper by the Secretary General in OS so You like typically something it'd be like uh committee country agenda it differs from what do you say conference to conference some conferences only want you to write the committee agenda and delegation someone will ask for something else so this is the common theme so the committee name country this is the country you're representing by the way and then the agenda and
then it's going to be like maximum two pages you don't want to Write more you don't want to write too much in the position paper you have to sum up The Stance of the country in maximum two pages so like every document it's maximum two pages nothing more and in the end you have to add what's called a bibliography in short terms a bibliography is stating your sources so like wherever you get the information like there's this statistic for like minimum age convention and child labor Etc in your bibliography you have to State the sources
with a proper link okay does anyone have any doubts about this cuz I don't think it's that complic ated also you don't have to make them look fancy you don't need like a blue border or whatever you don't need all this was anyone going to say something I heard an unmute okay anyways Quorum this is like a ratio of the committee that's required for like a Voting to be successful or failed so like example a fourth of the committee needs to agree on a vote for it to pass Etc it depends on the number of
delegates in the committee but it's usually like a fourth of the committee rooll call rules of procedures speakers list sponsor um you guys know what all this is an unmod I explained it before it's just an unformal session you can walk around talk to people Whatever all right Jo yeah uh how long will they give us what how long will they give us to write a draft or any speech so a draft resolu a speech um so let's say there's a moderat cus announced usually they don't really give any time you have to prepare your
speech by the time the people are like speaking they finish their speech in that time you have to like you know make your speech they don't really give extra prep Preparation time so we can take as long as we want no no no So like um let's say I have a topic a moderate cockus topic I don't know what the name is it's topic and then there's a list of delegates and I'm the chair and I'm calling on these delegates within that time I would like you know make up my speech you get what I
mean yeah okay and for Resolutions resolutions are only made at the end of The agenda so like when every possible you know thing is discussed about it and the chairs deem it necessary we should move to resolutions there'd be an unmod caucus You' get up walk around find your allies make blocks and then you make your resolutions usually they' give like 30 to 40 minutes to make your resolution this might sound like less time and sometimes it is but you got to understand you're Distributing work among like your whole block so like it's Going to
be multiple people doing the work at the same time okay so this is a very important Point what is a point in mu points are procedural motions that delegates can raise to address different issues or concerns during a committee session these points Aid in maintaining order ensuring the debate runs smoothly and providing necessary clarifications the most commonly used points are listed below okay a point of Information put it simply this is basically just a question if that's an easy way to understand I'll definitely go over this as well it's basically just a question point of
information is raised after a delegate speech when another delegate has a question to ask them a POI can only be asked if the delegate who has finished speaking voluntarily yields this time to pois from other delegate pertaining to their speech pois can only Be phrased in the form of a question and are meant to be concise usually restricted to a 15 to 25 second time frame okay I'll explain what this is so let's say I am in a moderated caucus and I'm speaking and I've just finished my spe speech and there's enough time left on
the clock so let's say I had a 60c individual speaking time and I my speech was like 40 seconds I have a bunch of extra time remaining and the chair would ask me delegate what would you like to Yield your extra time to so there could be multiple answers I could say the delegate of whatever my nation is open to one POI Two pois Three pois or any and all pois or I could say the delegate of whatever is not open to any pois and I could just sit down so if I were to say
I'm open to a POI the chairs will you know bang their gavel or whatever and ask something like delegates wishing to ask the delegate of whatever a question or POI please raise your black Cards now that hit the gav and the delegates would raise your black cards the chairs would pick that delegate to ask me a question so they'd get up and they would ask me a question regarding my speech or anything my country has done or hasn't done Etc you guys get the point right yeah can we be specific in yeah you can be
specific so you could say you're only open to one POI two POI three pois or any and all Pois no yeah what do we say when we are not like ready to answer NPI if we get okay so regarding this I always recommend delegates to never say they don't have an answer like never say that delegate does not know the answer don't ever say that cuz that's like going to make them think oh you're not prepared enough to say the delegate of blank would like to answer in chat form and then you would have to
write your answer on paper hand it to an administrator and They'd go over and give it to the other good and within that time you can resech the answer whatever also when asking pois does the question have to go through the chair first or can we just ask the delegate um you would have to address the chair and like for example I'm asking the P let's say I'd be talking to the chair but aiming it towards the delegate if that makes sense yeah you can directly ask a POI to the Delegate but I'll come to
when you have to talk to the chair so like a request to a followup so let's say you asked a question to a delegate and the delegate answers I can't directly talk back to the delegate that'd be considered cross talking and that's not allowed in for sessions what I would do is ask the chair to request to follow up so there's three different types of requests after a POI so let's say I asked the POI and then the delegate answered but they Quote unquote like offended me in a way that would be like attacking my
nation in in the question so like let's say um I asked a question about you know bombing and I'm us and then the delegates like the US has done this and this they've bombed them ER and what not whatever so i' tell the chair not request to follow up I'd be like right to follow up so there's a right to follow up there's a request to follow up and then there's a plea to follow Up so in uh I'll write it down here so in write to reply when you have been directly offended by the
delegate you have a right to reply and that kiss if you're offended by the delegate by their statement their answer whatever you can straight up just say right to reply the chair would ask you on what grounds you'd explain to them and then you can you know follow up and then request to follow up and plead to Followups they may be denied by the chair you do no matter what if the chair doesn't feel like you should follow up they'll just say no but a right you have to be able to reply you they can't
really say no to that there is probably something I request to ask an additional poi blah blah blah yeah okay this is pretty much what I explained um okay a point of order so this is when a delegate has made a Factual error in their statements like in a speech if I say something that's you know like isn't correct or isn't factual I would raise my PL card not you don't interrupt them by the way once they finished their speech or once they''re done speaking then only you raise your PL card you say point of
order and then you die like point out what mistake they've made it has to be only factual errors nothing else so please avoid like doing point of orders For no reason and when you do a point of order wait for your chair to recognize your any points when it comes to that so if you're raising a point you wait for your chair to recognize you then only you speak you don't just say like oh point of order this data gets said blah blah blah no that' be wrong you'd end up like you know losing points
or Etc whatever on that so you always wait for your chair to recognize recognize you and Respond to you then only you reply back to them point of person privilege this has everything to do with you know your well-being so you'd say yeah point of person is like if you couldn't hear them you'd ask them to speak louder another point of personal privilege would be like um to use the restroom so anything that you know you it's regarding you basically this probably has a better explanation than me a point that is raised when a Delegate
encoun personal inconvenience than prevents their capacity to participate in the committee yeah pretty much this so like if I need to use the restroom it'd be basically this anything that's like your personal inconvenience point of parliamentary inquiry this is all about uh procedures taking place in the conference so anything regarding like you know rules of procedures how what's going on in the committee Etc so like an example would Be let's say I wasn't paying that much attention I want to like you know want the chair to repeat something so let's say there was a mod
caucus topic I'd raise my pla car i' be like point of parliamentary inquiry could the chair repeat the topic at hand Etc stuff like that um oh [ __ ] is there someone in the meeting room okay never mind thought I heard it okay right to reply I already Explained this above right to reply so far did you guys understand these by the way if you guys need me to explain something I'll explain it again that's you okay motion to open the floor for debate okay so this first happens when you know the opening ceremony
finishes you move to your committees and in the first committee session someone in the committee would raise your PL card you know be like motion to open the floor For debate Etc also there's specific formats to how motions work so for example here you have to say the delegate blank would like to propose a motion to open the floor for debate so there's a specific format I'd recommend follow this of course motion to set the agenda so you can do like two things as I showed before there was topic a and topic B right you
could choose to do topic B first or topic a of course it depends on The committee they' vote on it first so if the vote passes you can do topic B first or topic a etc yeah okay a general speakers list this is the first thing thing that happens so like after you open the floor for debate there'd be a motion to open a general speaker list in Simplicity this is just an open opening speech so that's what happens when a in a GSL there'll just be opening speeches they're usually only 60 to 90 seconds
long I'd be like You know the delegate of blank would like to open the motion to a general speakers list okay this is important as well anything that has speaking in it you have to mention a total speaker time so like so there's a top a hand and it should take the whole committee let's say 30 minutes to cover it and an individual speaker would have a time of let's say 60 seconds so a total time of 30 minutes for the whole topic and then and every speaker would have one minute To speak a moderated
caucus I explained this before it's structured debate it's used to debate on a specific aspect of the agenda so if I go back here I I'll just show you guys an example page 39 okay so there's the topic access to clean water in a mod caucus I would pick a topic that's like you know very specific through this agenda so like a specific part of this agenda so access To clean water and sanitation so I could pick a specific country let's say um I could pick Japan for example we could talk about cleanliness and voice
sanitation in Japan and how people other delegates are helping in here obviously Japan is very clean but I just use that as an example so you basically delve into deeper aspects of the agenda um okay yeah same thing here you give a Total speaker time and an individual speaker time obviously you'd mentioned the delegate of blank would like to you don't need to say establish you can say whatever word you want here but just follow a similar pattern mention the Topic's name you know on mod I explained this it's informal session you can get up
walk around talk to anybody you can Lobby around motion to extend debate so let's say there's a mod cck is going on and it Was 30 minutes long and we're out of time for that so you can extend it you can raise a motion to extend it and obviously your chairs won't let you extend it for that long just work with whatever they let you extend it with just so that you they can finish the topic motion to discuss draft resolution this is you know when the blocks are done making the resolutions and the blocks
come up and you know they explain the resolutions to the committee they Might be for and against speeches I'll delve into it deeper when I get to resolutions motion to divide the house so this is basically done for voting procedures only the house will be divided and there would be a part of the house that's for or against whatever you're voting for um yeah basically we said that here yeah that's pretty much it to it address the house okay so let's see um I have an important statistic on That I feel like that could get
eyes on people so like let's say I'm in a challenge oh also a challenge is just like you know two two delegates or a team of delegates that come up and debate on a topic in front of the committee so if there's something important I would address the house maybe they have a better explanation when a deleger needs to provide important information clarify position yeah that's pretty much it it's simple If there's something important you want to you know address the whole committee re-appeal so this is only for like if you think the decision made
by the chair was unfair or something I think that's what they said as well yeah the chair of a delegate believes it's uncorrect or unfair I've never really seen this used but yeah motion to suspend debate this is only really done at the end of the day so Like let's say it's um first day it hits 10 p.m. a delegate would like raise the pl card and be like motion to suspend debate and then debate will be over for the day Etc wait wait no no I think yeah apology I mix up this is for
the end of the day so at the end of the day you would adjourn debate and at the end of the entire conference so this is the end of the conference this committee session we would would uh suspend debate apologies I mixed it up so at at the end of the day a delegate would be like motion to adjin debate and then you can go back to talking to each other whatever informally of course um okay this is important preparation how should you prepare for the conference I'll read over this because this is pretty well
explained the initial step in preparing for your conference is to research I can't emphasize this enough research is the Most important part if you don't have your research you're cooked it's essential to have a solid understanding not only for your country's history and stance on the agenda but also the UN body you're representing so let's say I have a country I would research on that specific body that country is like focused on so like Pakistan for example they're not only involved in one un body right they're in multiple I would Research all of them even
though it's not related to that specific Committee just so I can get a background also they I don't think they've mentioned here my trick I research more on the other countries than I do on my country I like CR I criticize the other countries more so like I find you know their weak points what they do bad what they do good what they need to do Etc cuz I can use that against people really well of course you should research like about Your own country as well but like if I don't have enough time on
my hands I'd usually do more research on other countries so like the other countries in the committee with the vast amount of information available online can feel overwhelming to structure your research and a coherent stance for your country okay yeah I guess this makes sense there's like too much [ __ ] on the internet understanding the commedian Agenda okay so when you guys get an email for your committee there will be something called a background guide so this is an example of a background guide this is for the United Nations security Council this is what
I was in in my last conference and it goes over like everything about the committee this is unnecessary it'll tell you like about the committee so if I go to page four it explains everything about the committee so it's very helpful if you don't know Much about the committee you've been you know allocated to it will tell you the key issues stakeholders is like you know major countries involved in the committee so yeah just whenever you get your background guides like exploit them use them as much as you can they're very necessary and I I
can't Rec them recommend them enough like here there talking about human right violations cuz that's the main purpose of the UNC and you know stakeholders would be major Countries that are involved in this so like Iraq Russia Palestine Afghanistan ex yeah it also mentions like previous resolutions this is also very yeah it's very nice basically what say karma okay this doesn't really need to be known yeah they also usually give you other resources that you can use so are there's reliable sources and there's INR Reliable Roes like a resource that won't be considered reliable in
an mu is like random news channels that have no backbone so like Human Rights Watch Amnesty International these are all like journalist based organizations and they're very trustable I could send you guys a list of you know trusted sources but what I'd like to clarify here is that for example when you have a POI like you you're asking something to a delegate and it includes a statistic and The delegate asks you what the source of the statistic is you have to State your Source there's no other way and if the chair deems that source to
be like you know not reliable that statistic is completely thrown out the window they don't take that you have to show that your source is reliable and that the statistic you're mentioning is actually true so you can't just you know go out the window and mention something that's false you have to have your sources Backed up yeah like I mentioned before bibliography is just daating where they got their information from okay yeah what if you mention a bogus statistic yeah but give a credible Source will they bother checking yeah yeah the the chairs will always
check the statistic like you mention a source they'll look it up right after so if you mention something that's wrong and you Stay a source and they look it up and they realize you're not telling the truth you're kind of cooked nice all right research your assigned country what would exactly happen it would affect your marking so like that's bad for you if you trying to win all right and further out they probably like not trust other ources you have did probably extensively research everything else you're talking about so Yeah research your signed country familiar
familiarize oh my God what the familiarize yourself with your country's overall history geography political structure and foreign policy this is very important you should know your country's foreign policy like United States foreign policy let's say I'm United States I'd go over their entire foreign policy you have to go over everything this is probably the most important Aspect of knowing your own country's research cuz they you know it involves everything that's for the country internationally their relationships Etc how they handle things um understand the nation's key interest alliances priorities you basically want to know what your
country you're representing is up to who their allies are Etc analyze International treaties and resolutions Javad can you swear at other delegates No do not do not use Prof what listen what if I'm smart with it what do you mean I'll figure that out but what if I'm smart with it no no no you have to be well behaved like you can you be aggressive towards the other delegates you can be aggressive but avoid using you know profanity at them okay if you like straight up cuss someone out you're basically going to get thrown out
the committee no no no I'll be smart I don't recommend that Bro okay what what Omar why who just left why Omar okay he left that's embarrassing yeah examine official documents and statements so basically this is like anything your government your country's government uploads I'd highly recommend you go over stuff like That research Regional International Organization so like like I showed before Amnesty International Human Rights Watch stuff like that give me a second bro my parents are talking all right apologies I'm back consider different viewpoints analyze the position of other countries yeah so you shouldn't
only approach something that only your country sees it so let's say America has a different View about something I look Into other countries and see how their opinion about said situation is as well remember to go through the guide yeah yeah so like as I said you get background guides definitely go through it it's very important I said as I said before as well use reput sources for your research oh yeah yeah this is very important never use Wikipedia for your for a source Wikipedia is not a reliable source because I don't know if you
guys know but on Wikipedia anyone can go and Edit whatever they want and as long as it get gets approved it goes onto the main page so it's not considered a recognized Source in mu and do not use Wikipedia use un websites as I mentioned amnesty routers Human Rights Watch yeah additionally cross check if your country recognizes for oh yeah okay so like this said an example like dprk is basically short for North Korea is the Democratic public Republic of Korea so like North Korea it doesn't recognize a Lot of news channels and stuff like
that so if you use a source like amnesty for dprk dprk does not recognize that source so you can't use that against them like North Korea doesn't release any of their documents and you can use that against them don't leave research for the last minute keep yourself up okay this I've never done honestly I'm clueless about the political word I have no idea so like you guys don't need to know that stick to the STS of your country And the current government yeah I'm pretty sure this's a common sense everyone should know this okay I've
explained this but I'll thoroughly go over it again a position paper is an essential component of an mu that articulates your country's tons on a specific issue it serves to inform other delegates of your country's views and proposed Solutions while also presenting a well researched argument this guy Outlines how okay whatever I'm not reading this so yeah as I mentioned different conferences have different like formats for the beginning of the position paper this one was committee name our country and the agenda and this is how a position paper should be structured I'll go over it
so there's the introduction a background information on the agenda provide a brief overview of the topic explaining its significance and the various Stakeholders involved address how this issue affects multiple regions and the life of individuals and communities so basically an introduction to the agenda that's the first paragraph past International action summarize previous International efforts related to the issue highlight revent re relevance resolutions treaties and actions taken by the UN and Associate NOS if you guys don't know what an NGO is it's a non-governmental Body mention significant un events that have adjusted the topic and refer
to reports detailing progress okay so past actions that been taken by your country or whatever country policy analyze how the issue impacts your country covering economic social environmental directions possible so okay in short introduction past actions taken the country's Pol policies any possible solutions and bibliography this is very important never skip this out so if I'm Researching something I'll copy the link save it in notepad or something copy the content paste that and in the end I'll put it in my biblography okay good position Pap will include the following facts and statistics support your arguments
with data statistics and facts from credible sources this not only strengthens your position but also enhances the paper's credibility use intext citations example okay so bibliographies I think it was where is It here like mention the author's name I don't think they've mention okay never mind if you can if you can mention the author's last name the the year it was published Etc countering common allegations address any common criticisms or allegations against your country this isn't exactly necessary but if you you have a country that's always heavily criticized like North Korea you can do this
references double check the Accuracy of your biblography to ensure okay yeah this is just like to make sure your re sources are like the what do you call it whatever you I don't know the word opening speech okay so this takes place in a GSL as I mentioned before a general speakers list this is the first thing at the conference an opening speech is at a modern United Nations conference is the initial step for delegates in committee to convey their country St on the agenda Topics and the discussion when the GSL is initiated for the
first time a committee session so usually gsls can be opened again but it I've never seen it happen before and it usually won't happen so an opening speech it's similar to your position paper where you're trying to show your stance and the agenda jaad yeah gsls happen in the first committee session or the opening ceremony the no the opening ceremony you're going to be In like a gymnasium or something they're going to have you know people talk around it's like nothing special it's like um how in school we have events and there's introductions but like
it's bigger it'll take longer there'll be like some performance or something as well and from the opening ceremony when it ends your chairs will call you up and then you go to the committee performances like what right I don't know bro usually they might have some Someone singing or like a band come up or dance I don't know anything or they might not they might just have some people like I showed the I show it again not this document they might have these people come up and talk these invited speakers from the UN I'll send
this document if you want to go over again one committee session is how long it depends it varies so like this this committee session is three hours the first one over here it's only Wait first so the first committee session is three hours yeah in that we will do the agendas right you start with you know uh GSL did set the agenda GSL Etc so this all will take three hours long it might take less they might even move on to like a mod caucus or something okay like see the timings are different this is
two hours this is from 9: to 12:30 so it's a different time this is three hours it varies from committee Session to committee session um okay yeah like I was saying an opening speech is your first opportunity to gain notice as a delegate and the more power powerful and unique your oration oration is a fancy word for speaking the higher your chances are for grabbing the spotline in the committee so I use these tips in my opening speech and I one best delegate I'd recommend you guys use these tips as well in your Opening speech
so this is probably the most important part like in my opening speech I started off with like a crazy statistic that caught everyone's eyes it was like something crazy about 50,000 people die every year from this and this so you have to use something a fact or a statistic that catches everyone everyone's eye so they're listening to you and from then onwards I'd move on to my other points you know what I'm saying given the limited Time focus on okay yeah in your opening speech never spend too much time to the point you don't have
any extra time left for pois I'd always recommend everyone to answer pois never try to avoid pois this is for any speech never try to exceed the time limit of your speeches or hit the time limit of speeches keep it short and concise so like it's saying here follow like focus on one single defining aspect of your country's policy or stance so do not make your speeches Ex like excessively long try to answer pois if you can they're very beneficial you get more speaking time you recognized longer Etc your Preity call usually in the end
of a GSL speech it's like you know the delegate of blank calls upon the committee of blank to work together blah blah blah additional tips okay yeah this is important as well Use Clear language engage your audience like I was saying like I said use a strong Factor statistic in the beginning of your speeches that will attract a lot of eyes onto you practice rehear your spe okay bro this isn't NE necessary but if you're someone that's very nervous you should do this stay respectful what is this I think that's an Anem yeah okay stay
respectful and professional like if it was saying do not use any like bad words Toward each other at no point must you be disrespectful or demeaning towards any delegate or country like you can attack them like you you may call out other countries for the stes ETC but do not be outright rude to someone regarding their appear or like using any foul language towards them um okay I think these are examples yeah these are examples of opening speeches like I said they start off with like a hook or something strong that can Catch someone's eyes
if you're charitable you're rich okay so this person used the quote instead okay this is something better atro atrocious cruelty no other words can describe the extent and intensity of margin sty of although human rights have become the Cornerstone of our discussions why do we dis continue to hear such alarming situations of exploration every single day so if I was a delegate and I heard this this would Catch my eye I would start listening to what they're saying you know what I mean anyways okay this is resolutions before I move on to resolutions any questions
any doubts it could be the dumbest like question no questions are dumb honestly if you want to ask something go ahead you guys are first Tim you might be confused while speaking do any of our points get cut if we uh let's say use papers and stuff to read through what We're saying or like do you need to know it off the top of your head usually no you do not lose marks for that okay you know obviously the chairs will be more impressed if you're like speaking with no paper in front of you it
shows that you know what you're talking about if you're re like staring at a phone they know like you're not probably as well prepared you get what I mean the judge based of things like that your body language if you're like standing still You know tighten up and speaking or if you're like loose engaging with the entire committee okay i' usually recommend if you yeah I have a question off topic okay regarding Transportation what what about the people like who can't like make something up to go you know to attain them and how what will
be the transportation solution um before that even happen I'd probably come up with something if you actually have transport Issues contact me I'll try to resolve it there's a big chance I can oh let me make another meeting I'll continue talking I'll send another link okay all right e e spe just two minutes I'll wait for everyone to join and I'll continue um okay I'll continue okay you guys can see my screen right yeah Yes okay where was I um yeah someone was asking me something what was it uh someone asked about Transportation okay if
you guys have transport issues contact me I'll try my best to like resolve them as much as I can but if there's no way you can come to the conf friends the best ways are like you know split split some taxi with your friends or like you know take the bus in the Metro the bus in a Metro Is like a good option but a lot of parents don't allow that I don't know why people don't like public transport but yeah there'd be a bit of money spent there if you can arrange something with your
friends as well that will work I'll talk to school management again about um getting transport but it's highly unlikely because it's on weekdays and they can't give like you know a bus cuz they the bus drivers are busy with picking kids up and dropping Them someone else asked me something as well no I was talking and then someone said something else uh it was me about the looking through papers while speaking okay yeah yeah so if you are going to use a paper don't stare at the paper the entire time don't like stand still I
would like you know look at the paper get the point look back up and engage with the committee again I'd be you know talking to them and not staring at the paper the whole time yeah so like Glancing over the paper for like half a second and then keep yeah yeah that's completely fine okay okay any more questions Jad yeah so like we have you mentioned earlier that there's two agendas right yeah there is and we have to make a position paper for each agenda so do you have to make two position papers um you
might but I I don't think you will honestly they might have you make a position paper on both the like a Singular position paper for both of them okay who's Discord not okay okay I'm moving on to resolution papers a resolution paper it's in the name you're resolving the issues at hand this is done at the end of the agenda so since we have two there might be two resolutions like topic a finishes resolution for that topic B resolution for that a draft resolution is a prelimary Document proposing solutions to specific issues discussed in a
committee it under goes revision and debate before becoming a final resolution so uh let's say there's my block we made a resolution we'll be called up we'll discuss the resolution and you know it can be debated by other people as well there might be like you know other people in the committee that don't like some points for example and they can come up and debate them and then a member from Our block and protect them like defend us pretty much process of job thing will blocks usually oppose each other or can they work together yeah
okay so the blocks can oppose each other or they can work together it's up to the blocks all right it also depends on your allies so if the other block is like someone that's not your allies at all I wouldn't really recommend supporting them bro I forgot what is a block a Block is just a group of delegates forming a group oh yeah ion wait did he did ion just talk who talked right now yeah yeah yeah I okay usually the Das okay if you guys don't know what the Das is the Das is just
people that are responsible like in charge or or in order of the committee so this would be the chairs grants and unmod [ __ ] for the delegates to work on the draft resolution so you can only Work on draft resolutions during unmod caucuses cuz you won't really be doing anything else that's when you can use your time to work on a resolution with your block uh jaad the whole block works together to make one dra resolution yes there will be only one resolution per block and then one guy will like deliver it okay I'll
go like um I understood your question it's probably like the answer is probably here where is it um uh how many people are allowed in the Block that depends on the size of the committee so if there's 50 people they might allow like 12 12 12 12 they might SPL split it up so that it's even so it'd be usually an even am amount of people so in my committee last mu it was pretty small we were like 20 people because it's an it was an advanced committee and we had like 10 people the other
had 12 or like 13 Etc so like I think chevin you asked That regarding who goes up in yeah okay so there's going to be uh Parts in a resolution there's different people so there will be an author there'll be uh sponsors Etc I think it's here I'll explain it if I can find it um okay they have not mentioned here that's kind of sad let me see if I can find something okay I don't have a resolution at H as well oh okay never mind it's here so There's different people in a resolution so
there be a whole block and this block will be split up into signatories signatories isn't necessarily you know your block itself it's just people that sign and want your uh resolution debated so you can get signatories outside of your block a sponsor is anyone that's contributed into making the resolution and then I don't know why it doesn't mention author here but the Author is the main person responsible for making the resolutions like you know how a book has a main author and then there might be like sub authors beneath that's basically what that is so
as chevin asked the sponsors are usually who would go up and discuss the resolution debate it Etc um what else is there someone type something in chat doesn't matter if your resolution is one which gets points Point Tce um no not necessarily see Point systems work different from every conference maybe this mu does that maybe it doesn't I have no clue every chair is different but if it fails it doesn't usually matter that much so I don't think your points would be deducted all right so in a res a resolution is split up into two
parts and those two parts consist of preambulatory Clauses and operative Clauses a preambulatory Clauses like you're addressing the issues and you have to use specific words in the beginning of um what do you say your points like it says you're noting considered recalling I think in the main document there was something about that okay yeah here right here so in a resolution for pre- ulatory Clauses you're going to be recognizing issues so you have to use only these words in the beginning of your sentences So let's say there's a point I'll be writing alarmed by
first and then I'd be going on by my point having heard and then going on to my point you have to use the words operative Clauses operative Clauses are basically solutions to these issues so it' be use there's also specific words you have to use accepts affirms Etc I'll be sending you guys a sample draft resolution as well you can go over it um I'll probably send more Resources regarding resolutions because sometimes they they can be confusing even to this day I struggle with resolution sometimes basically that's it so you're um recognizing the issues in
Pre ulator and operatives you're going on to solve issues usually there's only around three four to five preamps and then seven to eight operatives I think that's the average I'll read over this preambulatory Clauses provides context And rationale for the resolution start with italicized phrases like I mentioned there's specific wordings you have to use in the beginning each clause ends with a comma and a new line should be skipped between each Clause okay so a format for draft resolutions is really weird you cannot put a full stop after your point you can only put a
full stop at the end of the resolution if you were put like able if you were to put like a full stop after a Point but you had the rest of your resolution below your chairs would consider that full stop the end of the resolution so you'd basically have done all that work for nothing you have to be very careful with that you have to end it with a comma and not a full stop only at the end of the resolution you put a full stop and a new line should be skipped between each Clause
okay so when you writing a new Clause you put a white space in between do not use order list And clauses cannot have sub Clauses interesting Clauses cannot have okay okay in preamps yeah in preamps you canot have sub Clauses a sub clause for example you know there's one what is this there's you know this is my whatever this is the first clause and in a pre- ulatory clause I can't be like a b c I can't have sub Clauses inside of the main Clause only in operative Clauses can you have a sub Clause so
there's going to be a mean Point Whatever whatever and then I can have a sub Clause inside of that if that makes sense okay and then abbreviations must be spelled out the first time okay so if there's like a short form or something you should put that in a bracket outline specific actions the community intends to take so like resolutions I mean what am I saying solutions that should be Tak into place start each Clause with an underlining action verb In the present tense so the beginning of the words and operative Clauses are usually verbs
um I can probably show that here yeah these are already verbs being used Clauses end with a semicolon the final Clause ends yeah the final Clause ends with a full stop so this would be at the endend of the resolution and in a pream the Clause ends with a comma and an operative is a semicolon this all Probably sounds Really confusing but trust me it's not when I send a sample you guys will probably understand better I don't have any at hand because I usually use my laptop or M and I'm on my computer and
I don't have really anything on this right now um okay okay so you should always refer to the UN Charter like site relevant information like articles or Universal declaration okay it doesn't have to be specifically the Declaration of Human Rights but they're giving it as an example of relevant articles to your resolution and you can like you know put in previous resolutions like I was showing here in my background guide where was it yeah like previous resolutions that have taken place I can mention these in my resolution tion and what we can do to better
these resolutions like if there's something in this resolution and it f we could you know site this and say oh we're going to Do this and this to avoid what happened before oh okay and even in uh position papers and resolutions this is usually the format they'll give you a specific font type and font size you always have to use this do not switch it up and try to like you know make it look pretty or whatever you have to follow this yeah like I said there' be like four or five prms and like seven
to eight operatives okay so an amendment I'm pretty sure that's Prett pretty like Straightforward it's just changes that want to be made to the resolution so if there's a clause and a member of the committee does not like that Clause they can raise an amendment usually committees do that by a Google form and the amendment can be made there's two types of amendments there's a friendly Amendment and there's an unfriendly Amendment a friendly amendment is something like you know that's a good change that can be made like there's a a Change being made in the
resolution and they want to add something additional that could better it that's friendly unfriendly could be something that you're adding and the person thinks that should be replaced completely with something else and they have to justify why then then a whole debate takes place if it's an unfriendly Amendment so the sponsor ERS would argue with the not argue debate with the person trying to make the Amendment process for proposing amendments presentation blah blah blah okay there' be POI taking to why the amendment should be made if it's friendly amendments the friendly Amendment goes through instantly
there won't be any debating any or anything like that only if it's unfriendly okay this varies from commit uh conference to conference some use Google forms some use chats verbal Etc yeah yeah like I mentioned here a Friendly Amendment usually consists of adding like I said before that is to introduce new Clauses sub Clauses or subub Clauses a Sub sub Clause is pretty simple So like um this is my main Clause the first Clause blah blah I have a and within that a I have another Clause inside so this is a Sub sub Clause okay
another type of friendly Amendment is amending that is modifying the wording of a clause sub clause or a subub clause if an amendment is deemed Friendly by the authors it is automatically incorporated into the resolution like I said there's no debating done it instantly passes unfriendly amendments the Striking or removing a part of a clause an entire clause or multiple Clauses from the resolution is by default unfriendly like I said before if you want to replace a whole Clause remove it Etc it's deemed unfriendly if an amendment is deemed unfriendly by the Authors the proposing
delegate will advocate for the amendment while a delegate from the opposing side will present arguments against it so this is what I call for speeches and against speeches so the author or sponsor would be giving a four speech for why this specific Clause should remain and then the delegate that's presenting the unfriendly Amendment would be giving an against speech the form of an amendment by CH Okay this I won't go over cuz it's different from conference to conference okay a crisis this isn't important but it's just for fun and like in between there will be
a crisis for fun it could be some ridiculous scenario it doesn't have to be anything serious they're purely there for fun a crisis revers to a specific type of committee session that simul simulates real life urgent and unul blah blah blah like it could be something stupid I I can't Think of anything right now like um Imran on private conversation leaked and he threatens to bomb India and then you know delegates would come together work together come up with Solutions and there would be a PSL a PSL is short for a presidential speaker list so
let's say I'm Pakistan I would go up and give a speech as Pakistan's president so Asif Al zardari I would go up and talk up talk as ASF ali zardari um flow of crisis The cor principle of muun cres to give delegates first on experience of the meded um yeah okay so crisises don't take them serious they're purely for fun it's in okay no it's not informal but at times it is Crisis updates so a crisis have multiple updates so let's say I have this whatever this is the main crisis and over time in the
committee there will be updates given so they One update There'll be a second update a third update on how the situation is expanding so you could not you like you have more to work with debate and discussion during crisis there are a variety of specialized procedures that may be used to allow for Rapid decision making and effective collaboration um these never really take place a presidential prist will always take place a Directive um I don't know if this mun would have directives directives are like you know an action or command I think I have an
example one second let me my email do I have it here um yeah there's a sample directive first I'll explain what a directive is again the delegates respond to a crisis through directives a directive is a specific action or command issued by Delegates during a crisis to solve an urgent situation these are concise and focus on immediate tangible actions avoiding lengthy descriptions or unnecessary Clauses it serves as an instruction for immediate or strategic actions and helps guide the committee in response to ongoing development so basically a command or like something that needs to be taken
place that's what a directive is there's two types of directives public private a committee Wide action plan that requires a support of at least 20% of the members I don't know if this would be the same for fww but it's some going to be something like that and must be presented to the chair for approval an action plan carried by a single nation or a small group a joint directive so like multiple delegates can come together to make a directive and is kept confidential from the rest of the committee unless the delegates decide to reveal
it it also requires approval by The shair but does not need a vote okay so I'll show you guys sample directive um where is it okay direct to doers my okay so this is like I guess the title of the directive it's completely unserious like they've said directive should be titled funny titles are always appreciated no pun is too bad to put in a director title make it something funny entertaining you know chill relax it's nothing serious sponsor Secretary of Education okay so sponsors are the delegates who directly contributed to the dirting of the directive
just like in resolutions sponsors are people who like you know um what am I saying who like contribute to the resolution same here in directives signatories same thing people who want to see it debated gather intelligence okay so this is an example I'm not sure what it's Exactly on but you know their first Clauses gather intelligence on North Korean nuclear missile development blah blah blah it's basically a resolution for the crisis but it's completely unserious it's very short and concise as well to put it in short terms because I don't want to spend too much
time on this is not that important very unlikely we have directives in the conference anyway okay okay so that's pretty much All there is to it I have three position papers and I'll send these guys the position papers like in a I'll make a separate group where I can send all the files so that like you know they don't like mix up with the messages these should be of great help to you guys you can understand how position paper works I'll also find some resolution papers and send them as well to you guys so you
can use them as a reference are there any Questions when will be will we know the our committee and our country I have no idea but hopefully very soon I'll ask them by what like an estimate of how long it'll take them to send out the allocations but it shouldn't be much longer any more questions go ahead ask guys cuz and everything you told so far I know it's a weird question but how are you supposed to remember all this cuz it's honestly a lot it is a lot it's Pretty hard to remember I'm not
L of experience of deleg myself I forget stuff as well I'd like go back to the delegate handbooks and like look at stuff if I forget something it's common to forget don't worry about that because don't tell me you're going to like open a PDF in front of you and then like see where you have to speak and then for say to speak because that's honestly a lot no it's not going to be that complicated like you read over the handbook once Properly and I don't think you'll ever need to use it again even like
at times you might forget something that's completely fine you can go back and refer to it oh okay yeah any more questions don't be too tense about this it's like not something that's crazy serious is you have to remember people are going to be there that are like just as clueless as you yeah bro I thought they were giving Food until like yesterday I didn't I thought they were giving food until I found out like meals are paid but um so as I said in my contract I'm getting like 400 500 thms or something I'll
dedicate that to you guys I'll depend it on you people what do you mean so like apparently in international mu it's very common for people to be paying for their meals so there's these lunch and dinner breaks I was like oh it's fine everyone will be getting so much food but you Have to pay for your meals it's like $ 70 for a meal I don't recommend you guys to pay for your meals please order from outside bring your own food Etc it's very conducive them yeah yeah cuz every conference I've been to they just
give food for free so I assume it'd be the same yeah 7 is absur do not pay that much bro can yeah yeah bring you can bring your own food you can order from outside if it's cheaper but don't buy their food Bro cuz that's a lot of money wasted honestly I was kind of pissed that didn't have food some gouret why people yeah I think that's pretty much it I don't yeah you can or thought about my plan is just we the order food that's pretty much it I so like I said I'd have
like 500 DS daily for expenditure I'd use that to order food on you guys obviously I can't get food for all 25 people but I try to get for as many people as I Can yeah apparently this is the Norman International conferences cuz apparent even in other countries people pay for their food it's this UAE that's it's like normal to get food for free so I guess that's their justification we're kind of Lucky cuz apparently before they didn't even have food in international conferences people had to arrange their own food no no no the party
is fore you you paid for the Ticket you you get you get in the party honest and um what do you say where's the schedule bro okay here the party is from like till 12:00 a.m. I don't know if all of you guys can stay if you can't you can leave after 700 p.m. zad yeah does the party have the food um I'm guessing they have some snacks or something but not proper food yeah cuz I think there's dinner right Before the party yeah there's dinner right before the party so people would buy their meals
eat them before the party Imagine This also paid imagine the what the snacks are also paid for the party no okay guys they will give you like some eat something to eat like some small snack but they won't give you proper meals for free I don't know what they'll give but that's what I know so far they'll give Some small [ __ ] snacks someone was saying something yo yo so like can we go like you know the MU and thingy like like so from school it's like 30 minutes and my mom said like it
takes rush so like can we go early like leave the school early or condus even is not doing anything you mean uh on Wednesday right yeah I'll try to get them to leave early yeah like so let me what am I doing yeah like so the Day ends at 2:30 I'll get everyone to leave before last period even starts so like we leave at like maybe 1 okay thank you Jaan what if like some people are like going from Taxi they can't they just like go from the school itself they'll just dress up and come
and just directly go from there yeah yeah that's the plan oh yeah when do we come uh sorry when do we get changed we can wear our dress from school from home just come From home bro imagine like wearing scool uniform and then changing into your formal atre after in school washrooms don't do that they allow wearing the formula Tire school right for the entire day yeah all right any more questions even if the questions like stupid if you think it's stupid it's not stupid ask whatever you want yeah you can bring your laptops you
can bring your phones whatever to school I'll get special Permission I haven't confirmed this yet but I'll confirm it we can just give it to the teachers ORS man yeah I'll talk to Mrs D about that where is the venue located downtown the way so I'll look it up us for you guys Millennium Plaza oh yeah Jaan someone asked a smart question what about like phone charging and all there will be sockets there you can charge stuff all Right um so this is the venue it's basically in downtown it's if you guys know yeah the
museum future if you guys know that it's pretty much near there so from the school to The Venue it's around 30 minutes depends on the traffic downtown the way everyone knows what that is I'm pretty sure any other questions no I let me see if I'm forgetting something Um I guess I'll show the wordss policy and code of conduct again because some people might have missed out all right so this is the awards policy it's basically the criteria on how to win an award and the awards that will be given out in each committee um
we at fwwm and are primary concerned with providing each delegate with an enjoyable education this is a bunch of Y okay so you must have this enable to like to be able to win best delegate Ability to work with and persuade other delegates through inp explanations quality of position papers and attendance at all committee sessions adherence to fwm policies demonstratable desire to compromise while adhering to the policy is basically be diplomatic that's all this means be diplomatic do your best be respectful people come to committee sessions on time make your position papers good don't try
to break any rules Etc uh oh yeah one more thing bro this is well I'll highlight this again when you arrive at the conference they'll give you a security pass you need to have this at you at all times every day or else they won't let you inside the hotel there will be security there and if you if you forget it they won't let you in so please always have it with you what was the hotel's name again the what's name again Hotel Millennium Plaza Downtown hotel the way all right um um jaad yeah do
you need need to bring some uh Emirates ID or passport oh yeah yeah yeah um I'll open it do I have a ticket on me bro let me go to my emails like I you on WhatsApp the screen it's said to bring a government issued ID or password so we have to please carry your IDs because they'll use that to like verify your names and Stuff you have like don't carry a passwort that's pretty stupid an ID is easy to carry so just bring your ID okay is there anything else that I have to cover
I'll tell you guys the dates again February 12 to 14 I'll send this whole schedule to you guys um it's held in Millennium Plaza Downtown hotel and yeah all the best guys if you guys have any questions about mu procedures or if he wants another proper Training session where I like delve deeper into to like how to make an actual resolution or a position paper I could probably make an example one with you guys yeah let me know how to research bro tell tips there's this great resource called chat gd.com I asked them this I
haven't got a response yet but there's chances that it might Not okay but seriously how to Resource I would use uh um any un websites so like let's say I'm in UNC I would go to unc's website um yeah and I could search for specific articles on something if not I could there's um what do you say like if there's topic i' type that topic in Google my delegation my committee Etc find any proper like reliable articles go through all of them um honestly AI is also really good for research like M say don't use
AI but Honestly it's pretty flipp and useful but you mentioned like we have to tell like what source you used for specific okay let me show you guys okay I won't show you guys but uh like say I asked for a s like some content and then after that content's given I can just ask it to generate the source and then it'll give me where it gets up from listen do not use AI primarily for research only for Niche things that I can't really fine that's What I use it for bro hey I'm not responsible
for this if you guys use AI it's your fault no I'm not if you're using Ai and you get don't use AI between the community sessions that's not what I mean I mean prior research before the conference even starts it's just convenient all right any other questions guys so I can like you know end the Meting that's it all right thank you guys for attending um I recorded this whole thing I'll upload it if you guys want to you know go over it again you can best of luck with your researches I'm sure you guys
will all your allocations will come out soon you guys will do well hopefully we win best school all right take care guys byebye
