for years scammers have been contacting strangers via the telephone email and more recently text messages and Facebook Messenger well now these scammers are turning to a new platform it is a free messaging app you've probably heard of it it's called what's app Tom bartholomae from the Better Business Bureau is joining me now to talk about this so once again is another platform for them to use exactly and that the any platform that's out there any any way that they can get in front of you and try to make it sound like they know you or
they're somewhat familiar with you and become your friend or start a conversation with in the end they're out to steal your identity so it's really all this is ever about is they want your personal information so when they get it what do they do with it well a number of things they can very easily pile it together with some other information and you know hack your email account hack your your social platform accounts and just make life you know horrible that doesn't impact me financially is it when they it's when they can combine it with
other information because these messages the conversation leads to other things about banking information credit card information and then that's when they really make their make their day by getting all of that and then going out and opening up credit card accounts opening up loans opening a you know running apartments in your name yes I just remember everybody it's ok to be suspicious when you get something you're not expecting it's ok all right opticals good yes skeptical is good very good information thank you sure thing
