e e hey hey my friends today we are talking about must use video strategies to either create engagement if you have none or if you're getting some but need a bit of a boost we are talking about that today as well so I am here live in the video skills lab today if you're watching this masterclass live you can drop me a hashtag live or if you're watching the replay you can drop me a hash replay I'm just going to make sure we are pinned to the top of the group and we are ready to
go if you're here watching drop me some love on this because the more you guys like and comment on this the more other people in the group are looking for it are going to be able to find it and I can just say hello to you so drop some love and we're going to go ahead and get started so first of all let me know let's kick this off give me some idea of how your video engagement is right now we can do on a scale to 10 one to 10 one being absolutely terrible to
10 being it's fantastic where are you at on that um let me know in the comments so I have a sense of kind of you know where everybody is with their with their stuff and I see Suzanne's here live hey Suzanne um and we're going to talk first a little bit about like where engagement comes into play because we want to make sure that we're we're doing things to like actively invite our audience to engage with our content so if you guys have gone into the video skills lab and you have been using the teaching
videos or or doing the teaching videos you have seen this video script template where in this template there's you know core things that never ever change we've got the hook the crazy not to say promise The Authority Builder the call to action and then the engaging question so this engaging question comes like right before you're about to dive into that content and you want to make sure it's built into that script so many people just will go live and just talk talk talk talk talk and get annoyed when they don't have any engagement but you
didn't ask for any you didn't invite The Listener to or the viewer to engage with you so we got to make sure we are doing that okay so how do we make this exess ible uh to our audience so a couple of things we want to make sure engagement is like stupid easy so what does that mean making it stupid easy is not asking people super convoluted questions for example you can do something like I just did where I can say how's your video engagement now on a scale of 1 to 10 and I see
in the comment section here we've got Suzanne who's like oh I'm a five you know so so you know I'm not asking her to tell me her entire video marketing story I'm just asking you to drop a number right or I can ask to drop a letter or an emoji so I can say um how many years have you been doing this strategy and you know you could drop that number or I could say um drop me an emoji that describes how you're feeling about this particular thing and it should always be related to the
script or whatever you're talking about in that video in some way so again super easy scale of 1 to 10 dropping a letter or a number an emoji uh dropping a word that describes a situation so I could say give me one word to describe your feelings about live video right now or give me one word to describe your video strategy right now and people could be like messy amazing fun like they could put whatever you want so again it's more opportunities for people to engage and to engage with you more simple things give me
a yes or a no this could be in the actual script for example um you know during the engaging question but very often throughout the entire script um especially if I'm live I will ask people I will have purposeful pause moments where I'm like I just went through a lot of information just give me a yes in the comments if this is making sense to you so far or no and ask me a question and so again it's boosting that video because people are just saying yes or no but it's boosting and it's giving that
video social proof and it's again communicating with those viewers uh another easy one hashtag live or hashtag Replay for uh you know those of you who are going live and the last one is what's your biggest takeaway like asking the viewers to uh talk about what their biggest learning was and I love this one as well because it tells you what they found most valuable in the content you just delivered which is really really important feedback okay let me know if you're with me so far let me practice what I preached give me a yes
in the comments if this makes sense to you or a no if you have questions and you can put that question all right moving right along so we're gonna now talk about now that we've talked about like what should you be doing during your your your video content to get engagement let's talk about proactive strategies that ensure we are getting that engagement right so a couple of things number one is we want to get predictable so for example when I was leadership coaching this was back in 2019 um every single week I would go live
Tuesday at 7 pm I would have people mark their calendars I would had it on my Facebook group banner I had it on my profile I just had it everywhere Tuesday at 7 pm everyone be there and I consistently did that for like a year and I've told you guys this before this I I didn't have money to spend on ads I had never used social media before I had no clue what I was doing at the time right and so I was just consistently doing this content and this group where where my email list
was Zero my social following was Zero ended up growing to like 1,800 people or something crazy like that or sorry it was 800 people 800 900 people in the first six or seven months and at the time that that was crazy to me right something like that I like couldn't have even imagined when you know when you first start out online and that first email subscriber is the biggest deal in the world to you like I still remember those uh those moments so to have that come from just being you know getting predictable and having
content that was so good that people were marking their calendars and inviting other people to come and so how we start to get predictable is a couple things you want to tailor based on platform so for example in like Facebook groups or Pages you can create events and invite people to them and then people can can mark their calendar right you can also send out in your welcome email sequences hey I always go live at this time on this platform make sure you mark your calendar um for things like where you platforms where you can't
create events for example Instagram create like an Instagram story or an Instagram post YouTube you are able to schedule lives in advance and have it remind your subscribers so like a lot of these platforms want to help you to get people there so make sure you're utiliz Iz in those tools um and we kind of already talked about this but as much as possible try to keep that time consistent if you can't not the end of the world like right now I'm not doing a consistent time I'm just getting videos out every single week because
I have a little baby right now and I'm just giving myself that flexibility and I'm like at least I'm getting these videos done so I feel the same about you like if you can't pick a time it doesn't matter if you're getting a video every week that's what matters um and last thing I'll say is just the the the Oprah effect of this I I learned this from Sunny Leonard doozi it always always sticks with me and it's essentially uh she talks about how uh you know when she was a little kid she loved watching
Oprah and she'd run home from school every day at 4M excited to watch Oprah she always knew it was on and like that's the same thing we want like we want that time of day that people are just anticipating or or for me right now it's uh Survivor it's coming back February 26 do do you guys anybody watch Survivor it's one of my absolute favorite shows I am like very hardcore about it um but every single Wednesday I watch it I know exactly what time's on I clear my schedule for it I make sure I
have the best dinner planned out the best snacks planned out and I am ready I'm ready with the I have social media threads I all you guys I'm too hardcore about it but you get the point like that's how you want your audience that's how you want them to behave that's how you want them to respond okay so that is the number one get predictable number two is you want to make sure you are leveraging your email list this is so so incredibly important because we don't want to rely on a social media algorithm to
basically show our content to people like yes it should do that and we should be optimizing so that the algorithm is doing that but if for some reason you're like seeing a a a trending down it shouldn't matter because you should be able to email your list and say Hey you know I got this this video that I just posted and you can send traffic that way and like help boost everything back again so um I actually have an entire in-depth training in the video skills lab about writing emails that boost your live videos or
boost your week videos with really specific top performing examples so if you go into the video skills lab in the video engagement section you're going to find it so I'm not going to go super in depth with examples Plus for implementation week we're going to that's going to be one of your assignments is to to do some work on this and watch that video but what I want you to note for this training is that it is so important to make sure that you're sending like weekly or bi-weekly emails a variety of them uh a
variety of styles I should say that are driving traffic to your video so for example it could be something like you have a message you want to send to your audience on whatever it is and at the bottom you have a PS and you're like P.S I also just went live yesterday talking about blah blah blah click here to watch the video uh you could have a newsletter where it's one of the items or you could do a newsletter with like a Roundup of all your videos um it could be an email where you're sending
a 24-hour reminder by the way I'm going live tomorrow RSVP it could be a going live in 15 to remind people to get on socials it could be that you're sending out the replay after with your call to action so I think what's important is you don't don't just do the same thing every single time like experiment do the PS the newsletter the 24-hour reminder like mix it up a little bit so that it's not stale and see what works and what feels good for you okay so we we' got two down let me know
if we have any questions so far on on any of this and we're going to keep moving next up is conversations and this is absolutely huge huge huge for boosting engagement and so many people I think probably won't like this because they want to automate everything they don't want to talk to anyone and in the age of AI the best thing you can do even before AI was to just have conversations with people so that they know you're a human being who cares and who can help tailor a strategy for them and uh my mentor
always says conversations are the fastest path to cash so let's talk about how you're having conversations right so you can be having I'm not talking about random spam kind of dming I'm talking about authentic conversations so for example when someone joins my Facebook group I send them a DM either a video or a voice note introducing myself asking about their biggest goals and challenges right or if someone in my Facebook group comments saying if I put a post out saying hey I have this thing I'm giving away do you want it and then I'll get
in their DMS and I'll send it to them and then I'll ask about their goals and their challenges right and the whole idea is to have this back and forth conversation where you're really genuinely learning what their challenges are you're asking questions you're not advising just asking and once you get a a big picture kind of of what's going on then you can say okay here's what I think you need to do give a little advice and say go and watch this video and if you are following my my basically my instructions that I give
on the teaching video process right it's all in the video skills lab your video content should be doing the hard work so what that means is that your video content should be positioning you as an authority it should be talking about your offers it should be showing off how good you are at what you do and then you don't have to be like look how good I am oh my gosh my stuff works so well they know your videos just kind of basically did all that hard selling that you you never have had to do
right and so having the system in place actually was transformational for me when I was leadership coaching as well because I was getting on phone calls with people all the time who were just cold and who I felt like I just need needed to prove myself to and we couldn't actually have a real conversation because they didn't trust me that much so these like Discovery calls just ended up calls where you know I was just like hire me I'm so good and I just had to like felt like I needed to describe my qualifications and
they were like suspicious but then after I started using more video content and we're getting on calls with people who were watching my video content and that was a requirement before we even Mo got on a call then people were showing up to calls and were like oh my gosh I love this training it's already helped me so much it's so nice to finally meet you blah blah blah right it's such a different feel so having these conversations where you're getting to know people getting to understand what's going on and then driving that traffic to
your videos is huge okay another type of conversation is responding to comments on your video so if someone says hashtag replay or I'm a five or uh this is they do they drop some emojis respond back to everything all those comments the more you respond the more like social proof there's going to be the more it's going to boost and like it just does so many good things and it makes the other person on the other end feel good okay last type of conversation is tagging or sending SLC creating videos based on how based on
the conversations you've had so typically when I have these conversations I will kind of loosely track who I've talked to what topics they like but if I have a conversation that I'm like oh my gosh this is such a good piece of content based on that conversation and inspires me to create something I'm like cool I'm gonna go ahead and do that so let's say I you know I talk to because Suzanne's here live with me right let's say Suzanne's like hey I'm really really struggling with my engagement on my weekly email nobody's clicking on
the links then so so nobody's you know helping me nobody's going and watching the videos then and so I'd be like okay here's here's a little bit of advice can you tell me a little bit about this and this and then I decide to go and shoot a video for her and I decide all right uh I'm going to do a whole video on some kpi some key performance indicators on what goes into a really good email right and I could even ask her hey do you mind sending me this I'll even I'll even do
a I'll even do a review for you for free if I can use it in my content right and so I do this and let's say I don't ask her let's say I ask her to to to have her send me an email and use it as an example in my actual content she'll know about the video but let's say I don't make that offer and I'm just having a conversation with her I could also just create that video you know it's on my socials as a piece of content and and then later send it
her and say Hey you know I know a little while back we discussed this you know I thought this could be really helpful so do you want me to send this your way always ask permission first but again we're creating based on those conversations what people are actually asking for not just like what we think is what people want and the more conversations you have the more in touch you're going to be right the more you talk with your actual target audience you will realize you will never ever run out of content ideas because people
always have questions that you're going to be like oh that's a good content angle okay last little proactive strategy for those you guys who are here live let me know how we're doing so far let me know if you have questions uh but this last strategy is basically having a little video training directory and this directory is essentially a Google Document um where you are basically listing all of your videos and if you've watched the blueprint training that's in this I gave in-depth examples and showed off my video training directory so you can go back
and watch this uh to kind of get a a deeper sense of what it is but like I said it's a it's a simple Google doc where you are listing out your videos and the reason this matters is because a lot of times your videos are not organized well so like on YouTube you can create playlists which is great but you can't really do that very well on Facebook you can't really do that very well on uh Instagram or as far as I know LinkedIn either and so the directory basically takes all videos from all
platforms and puts it in one document and I like Google documents because people can access the link and you can update this in real time without having people without having to send a new document right document will just update and so you want this video training directory to be like front and center so in my Facebook group it's in my welcome post when I have conversations with people I send them to the video directory when I uh you know when I write email sequences for people who come to events I also give them the the
video directory and so it's always pushing people toward my entire Master list of video content that they can start binging so again update this it to your list you can make this like uh I'm calling it a freebie because it's just you know a little thing that you can send uh as a gift but this is another way to just boost your video content and like I said in the blueprint training I talk a lot more about this okay let's keep going so two things and I should have just uncovered these before but oh well
none of this is going to matter getting predictable leveraging your list conversations the video training directory nothing will matter if you don't have these two things though if you don't have a really great title and if you don't have content that is actually engaging it doesn't matter how many emails you send it does not matter if you send out the video training directory it doesn't matter if you have conversations like if your content is boring and doesn't grab people's attention if it's not actually helping people with the right problems like none of these strategies are
actually going to work right so it's so important to make sure that you're troubleshooting and figuring out what the kind of root of the issue is because a lot of times the strategies I've seen people execute these four strategies that I've talked about on a high level but the content just wasn't that good and we needed to up up that and kind of refine that okay so that is our mini Master Class today on video engagement do you all have for for those of you who are here live I'm going to look and see do
y'all have any questions that I can answer while we are live let me know I'm GNA hang out for a few SEC a few minutes while I explain implementation week so if you're watching this replay this won't this won't apply unless it's you know February 16th before February 16 2025 or during this period uh so on February 16th uh we are going to every day I'm going to be giving you these little mini assignments to do to help you boost your videos based off of everything I talked about in this training so I am going
to do either a little video or post giving you those instructions and then you can post your homework in the Facebook group so if you're ready for implementation week you're excited for implementation week comment I'm in let me know you are excited and I am looking forward to it as well let me see what questions we have um okay Suzanne when you do uh when you do live are you asking for engagement throughout the whole training so you guys have seen I do a lot of uh let me make sure I'm on the right slide
here you guys have seen um I do a lot of like asking like I will be like yes are you with me does this make sense like maybe some people find it annoying like there's times where I'm like o it's too much it's probably annoying uh so find a balance like if it's natural for you if if it's at good pauses and points then yeah like go for it but don't overuse it to the point that it's like obnoxious I know sometimes I'm guilty of that okay all right awesome I see Suzanne saying I'm ready
amazing if you watch live today give me a hashtag live if you watch the replay hashtag replay and I'm so excited for implementation week hope you guys enjoyed this training and I will see you soon e e e e e e e e e
