Isn't it ironic that the small, boring, unsexy habits are the ones that can make the most impact in our lives? Well, it's the scienceback truth, and today we're talking about 10 of those unattractive yet powerful habits that if applied to your life, will help you level up. I used to think eating healthy required me to make these elaborate meals every single day with a million ingredients.
But in reality, the best kind of meals that you can [music] make are the simplest ones. simplify what you're eating, and it's going to get easier to eat healthy. I also think an important thing is to learn how to cook things in a way that you like.
Lately, I've been super into making my own one ingredient potato chips. I just thinly slice potatoes and put them in the air fryer for 15 minutes at 400. I'm actually going to do that today cuz I'm going to make an egg salad for breakfast.
But that's just one way to cook a potato. Like, there are so many other ways that I could make this. And if I didn't like that way, I shouldn't write off a potato because I don't like it cooked a certain way.
Eating healthy is as simple as the meals you make. So, if you're making them complicated, eating healthy is going to be complicated. And if you're making them simple, it's going to be super super simple.
The next habit we're talking about is going for a walk. Specifically, an outdoor walk. And as much as we might like to convince ourselves that walks are hot girl walks and [music] they're sexy and they're fun, like lowkey, it's kind of it's kind of boring just to go outside on a walk, but it's like boring in all the ways that are good for you.
You [laughter] know, to make your walks even more boring in a good way, you can leave your phone at home and bring a mini notebook. I talked about this in my my last 10 healthy habits video where I take intentional time to not be on my phone and to disconnect. make yourself bored on purpose so that you can be a little more creative.
But if you want to take a more productive approach to a boring [music] walk, try calling someone on the phone. This has helped me keep my relationship strong and [music] gives me a designated time to habit stack calling them on the phone versus just being like, "Oh, I don't have time to call. Like, it's always just so inconvenient to call people.
" [music] It's like, no, I'm actually on a walk for 45 minutes and I have nothing better to do than to call the people that I love. So, that's also been a good thing that I've implemented for my walk. I got a text message from a friend asking for some advice about [music] social media.
So, that's what I'm going to do as I continue my walk. I'm going to call him on the phone and give him some tips. So, it's great to take a walk without distractions or call a friend on the phone.
But, another healthy habit that has leveled up my life is journaling. Last year, I challenged myself to do shadow work and process some memories and experiences that were holding me back. I explored patterns in my romantic relationships, childhood experiences, my weaknesses and strengths.
Journaling helped me get my thoughts out, but looking back, there are many moments I wish I had someone trained to talk things through with someone with an objective perspective [music] who could give me advice and insights based on my personal experiences. If you've ever wanted that kind of feedback while processing your emotions, I think therapy is an incredible way to get it, which is why I'm so happy BetterHelp is sponsoring this video. With BetterHelp, you fill out a short questionnaire, and based on your preferences, their clinical experience, and over a decade of [music] matching expertise, you can be matched with a licensed therapist in just a few days.
If it's not the right fit, you can switch therapists anytime at no extra cost. Working through the thoughts and emotions that hold you back is what actually allows you to [music] move forward and become the person you could be. to join over six million people who've trusted BetterHelp for support.
You can click the link in the description or go to betterhelp. comillyreal to get 10% off your first month of therapy. My next habit is going to be training consistency over intensity.
I love trying new workouts, but it's honestly the boring repeatable, especially lifting workouts that are going to transform your body. I know this because I've seen it in the past with myself. This does mean that you should have a workout program.
If you're just looking up an Instagram workout every time you show up to the gym, I've been there. I've done that many times. But training in that way is not going to help you progressive overload and get stronger and get the results that you probably want.
So, investing in some sort of workout program is going to allow you to be consistent with your training. As boring as it sometimes can be, that's what works. I personally am following a Sydney Adams workout program right now.
I wanted to try out one of hers. Hers are PDFbased and so I just wanted to give that a try because I've never really bought a PDF fitness program before. I've also purchased a workout program from Natasha Ocean.
She has an app which I really liked. And then I also want to try out someone who does workouts on Playbook. I just barely started studying for my personal training certification which I am so excited about.
I have a goal this year to release my own workout program and I'm so excited to learn how to make one and how to structure workouts and formulate everything. So, you guys will definitely know once I release a workout program, but until then, if you're trying to figure out who you should purchase one from, I would just find somebody who maybe has a similar body type to you or just that you look up to in the fitness area. Make sure that they're certified, that they know what they're talking about.
Jeff Nippard is also somebody that I want to purchase a workout program from. He's a bodybuilder who makes a lot of videos that I think mostly dudes watch, but we're all out here trying to build muscle, okay? So, I would definitely recommend looking into his because he is a sciencebacked king.
A few weeks ago, my friends and I had a vision board night and I honestly was so stressed out after we did that vision board night because I basically just laid out all of the things that I wanted to accomplish in 2026 with no idea how I was going to accomplish them. Like it looking at it, I was like, "Yeah, [laughter] like how am I going to do this? How am I going to accomplish all these things?
It's stressing me out that I don't have a plan. So, the next habit is to actually have like monthly or weekly check-in times where you make plans based on your goals. I think it would be awesome at the beginning of every month to go to like a coffee shop and designate a day as just a planning day and a check-in day where I go through all of my goals and all of my habits and just take a look at everything, see what I want to change, look at my YouTube analytics, and just have this huge massive planning day.
I have a goal to make $100,000 and I'm like, how am I even going to do that? What do I need to do every single month, every single day? How do I need to show up so that I can make that happen in my life?
I obviously have goals for YouTube and Instagram and just my work in general and also my personal life. It's like, how am I going to be this kind of person? How am I going to be the person that this vision board is encompassing if I don't make a plan to get from where I am to who I want to be, you know, to become that person?
So, make a plan. At my public library, they have whiteboards. And so I took full advantage of a large whiteboard and just lined out some things.
I definitely still need to go back and dig into each of my goals. That step cannot be overlooked. And doing that's going to level up your life because you're actually going to take action.
Like if you have daily, weekly, monthly tasks and check-ins and [music] a plan, you're going to get there. Talk about boring. I think a budget is the definition of that.
But having a budget, keeping a budget is going to help you feel confident in where you stand financially and just help you feel in control of your finances. And no matter where you financially stand, whether you're in debt or not, it's still good to know where you're at so that you can make a plan to either pay off debt or save money, whatever your financial goals are. And I'm going to be completely honest, I am not the best at keeping a budget because I track my life in notion.
I would love to make a budget notion template, but there is one specific thing I'm really good about budgeting about and that is my groceries. Every week I give myself a $100 grocery budget and I literally have like a $100 bill and that's what I take to the grocery store and that's what I give myself for the week. If I don't have enough money after my groceries, I try and just not spend.
Some people may say $100 a week is kind of a lot for one person. I don't think so. Especially because I don't really buy a ton of other things.
Like food is kind of what I love. [laughter] So, I'm like, let me have this. Let me have my $100 grocery budget.
Okay. I don't ask for very much, but I do want to buy as many sweet potatoes as I want. And I do want to buy the peanut butter and I do want to buy the thing that I want to eat this week.
You know, everybody's budget's going to be different, but having a cash budget is one way that I do budget, and I want to be better about tracking my finances this year, especially since I'm going to be making more money this year than I ever have in my life. That's the plan. I've got some big financial goals for this year.
It's going to require me to track it. So, keep a budget. Next, we're going to talk about having a personal management system.
This is going to level up your life so much. And I guess the habit would be to actually use it and to check it every day. I legitimately would not know what to do with myself [snorts] if I did not use notion.
I love everything about notion. I literally do everything in notion. I would be absolutely lost without notion.
You don't have to use notion. You could use a journal. You could use your Google calendar to time block.
You can do whatever you need to do. But like have a system of some kind to keep track of your daily to-do list of the things that you have to get done. and just so you can brain dump everything that you need to do in a day and in a week into one place so that you can actually be an organized person.
So, what I'm going to do right now is give you guys a little tour. I'll have a link in the description if you want to purchase this homepage of my notion template. I've had tons of people on Instagram asking for this specific one.
Even though I released a 75 hard notion template that has a lot of the same features, I'm just going to release this one too in case anybody finds it useful. When you first open the notion page, I have my daily habits here. These are all of my 75 hard daily habits, but at different points in time, I've switched them out depending on what I'm focusing on for a challenge.
I haven't filled it out today yet, so let's do that together. I've taken a progress photo, my medication, did my outdoor and indoor workouts, and I have surpassed 10,000 steps. Something I love about Notion is that it can be either on your laptop or your computer, and they're synced up all the time.
So, I can check these off on my phone or my computer. Then, this is kind of where the chaos is. Uh, some of these are like so random that I just have up here, but the ones that I use very frequently that will be included in the template are this grocery list that I use every single week to plan my meals.
Locking in is one that I use for work. Like that is my work one and I keep track of all my video scripts and my ideas and just like everything goes in there. This is probably my most used section on notion and the thing that keeps me on track the most and it's my weekly to-dos.
What's awesome about this too is that you can move these around. So, say I don't finish something, I can just drag and drop it into the next day. I really haven't done time blocking, but that is something that I would like to get into just to keep me on track for the hours that I'm spending for different things during the day.
But for now, this keeps me on track and keeps me organized for the weeks and helps me remember the things that I have to do. I recommend notion. I recommend this notion template if you're looking for one.
I'm a little biased, but I really like this structure. At the end of the day, just have something to keep you on task. Finishing a product before buying something new.
And I think what's inferred by this also is stop buying dumb things you don't need. This is almost gone and I think I'm actually going to cut it in half and get the rest out of it and then replace it. An example of me using some delayed gratification [music] is forgetting this deodorant.
I had a different deodorant and I wasn't just going to purchase this and replace the other one when I still had a ton left. So, I used up everything from the last one and then I allowed myself to purchase a new one that was a of better quality. And that goes for skincare products.
It goes for hair products. It goes for everything. Practice some delayed gratification.
Make yourself finish something. Not only is this going to be good for your finances cuz you won't be buying as much stuff, but also it's just good to know that you have some self-control. If you find yourself on social media, you will be bered by advertisements left, right, and center or people talking about products.
And that's totally fine. I think it's totally fine. I do it.
I'm a YouTuber. I make videos. I'm a content creator.
That's what I do for my job. And I'm going to be promoting products. But I'm also very aware when I'm watching people's content.
I'm not super easily convinced to buy something. If I'm on Instagram and someone's promoting something or something I see looks super interesting and I want to get it, the way that I combat impulse purchasing is by screenshotting whatever it is so that in my head I'm like, "Oh, if I really want this, I can come back to it. " But instead, it gives me some time to think about it, but really I don't I don't think about it.
that impulse, that feeling passes and I like totally forget about the product unless it's something that I really need and then I might return or if I finish a product, I might replace it with something else. This may be one of the most important tips of the entire video. Closing down my kitchen as part of my night routine has literally changed the cleanliness of my apartment.
It has helped me feel more at peace at night and in the morning and just has brought so much structure to my evening and morning routines because when you set yourself up for success in the evening, it allows you to have a good morning. As part of my close down routine, I usually pick up the space, try to get blankets put away, table cleared off, dishes loaded. I always wipe down the counters and sweep if I need to.
And the last thing I do as kind of like the cherry on top signifying that I'm done with my kitchen clothes down is to shine my kitchen sink, which is basically like nothing else goes in here. Even if I have to fill my water bottle afterwards, I kind of get annoyed because then it's like wet cuz I literally dry my kitchen sink dry so it's shiny. And that's just like a okay, we're done for the day.
This is clean. Everything's in order. Prioritize your sleep and recovery.
I've been so bad at this lately, so I'm talking to myself, too, because it makes all the difference. Go to bed on time so you can get eight hours of sleep. Keep your phone out of your room so you don't scroll.
Good sleep and recovery will help you move better, [music] think clear, and show up stronger in your workouts and in life. I hope this video helped you think about the habits you want to incorporate into your [music] routine to level up. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in my next one.
