If you're struggling to rank up in the new rank system, I have an easy trick for you that can make ranking up much easier. However, there is one drawback. Let's use my Town 12 as a case study here.
My Town 12 is one of the top ranked Town 12s in the world. We were able to promote to Witch 17, which is incredibly difficult to do. And have a look at my league history here.
We were stuck in Witch League 16 for a while. And you can see the four weeks before I promoted, I actually got more cups but wasn't able to promote. So, how was I able to promote in this last week?
What was different about it to the rest? And the only difference between these weeks was last week was the first time I turned auto sign up off. So, before your week ends, uh, you go to this screen here and uncheck the auto signup button.
Then what you're going to do is you're going to manually sign up as late as possible. You've got this sign up ends encounter here. So, join tournament as late as possible and the results will be amazing.
As you can see here, even though I signed up as late as possible, I got put in a league with about 75 other players. So, there really is no too later a time to sign up. But now, to answer the real question, why does signing up later mean it's easier to promote?
Well, it's all to do with the number of attacks conducted in the league. So, this league's still got one day left, but all these players who have done zero attacks, they won't attack between today and tomorrow. This is incredibly consistent where in the leagues where you have later signups, these are the less active players.
So, you're going to see less attacks on average conducted in your leagues, the leagues where you spin on Tuesday, uh, where you have the auto signup done, most of the time, everyone will do at least a reasonable portion of their attacks. these later leagues late sign up so rarely is more than 60% of players doing any attacks. I mean look at the number of zeros here and then the maths just follows on from there.
The less number of attacks that are done in the league, the less number of trophies that are taken and the threshold gets lower. On top of that, the inactive players are generally the ones more likely to give you give players defenses and that's just cups to everybody. So, if the only people are attacking in the league are the ones that are three starring every base, essentially what happens is it only comes down to offense.
It doesn't really come down to defense at all. Yet again, lowering the threshold. So, particularly if you're a low town hall pusher, I for instance, I am on which account is this here?
My town hall 13. I'm getting hit by town hall 15s and 16s. I'm never going to defend anyway.
But if no one else is defending as well, that makes it much more easy for me to promote. Now, let's talk about some of the drawbacks so you're well informed. Because just because you sign up late doesn't mean it's necessarily always going to be easier.
Because for instance, on average, the opponents you're going to have are going to be more difficult. This is my Town Hall 11 here. I am the rank three, I think, town hall 11 in Clash of Clans.
And this week, I ran into 10 Town Hall 14s. Now, I'm pretty confident if I signed up on time, whilst it would be harder for me to promote because I would need defenses, I would also be hitting more Town Hall 13 bases. So, you if you do the late sign up, be aware you're going to hit higher level opponents.
But for me, it's more than offset by the fact that the threshold is lower. However, if you're the sort of player where like you can hit one town hall higher, but as soon as you start hitting two town halls higher, you're getting zero and one star attacks, then late sign up might not be the most perfect thing to you. What you want from this is where your offense will obviously be slightly weaker because it is harder.
It is higher level bases, but as long as it's not offset more than what you're gaining from the threshold being lower, and for me, the threshold on average is about 30 trophies lower, maybe even 40. Uh, it's it is actually quite nice. So, as long as your offense isn't as affected, isn't that affected by it, then it's going to be better.
But keep that in mind. Harder opponents using this. So, it is going to be more up to your offense.
You're not going to rely on defense as much, but you need to output some really nice three stars. And unfortunately for me here, I didn't quite get the three star, but we still do get a reasonably high percent. Now, we're moving to my town hall 14 as we take down a near maxed out town hall 16 base.
And I want to talk about the other big weakness of this, which is the more people that use the late signup method, the less valuable the late signup method becomes. because then if more people are spinning late, then you're going to get more attacks, but also from better players at the last second. And for me, that was another reason I wanted to do this video because whilst this isn't cheating, I don't think it counts as cheating.
I think it is taking advantage of a really stupid mechanic in the game. Late signup shouldn't be a thing. And actually, I went to Supercell and I reported all the problems with late signup and I told them just remove it.
ranked would be so much better if late signup wasn't a thing. And they've passed it along. I haven't heard from them in a month, so I have no idea if they're going to fix it.
But I promise you, I'm trying to get it fixed cuz to me, it just doesn't it feels unfair because most players don't know about this trick. Only the top pushers. And the way you can tell if people are doing it, look in the first 2 to 3 days of a new league.
If the top pushes randomly appear on day three, you know they're doing the late signup because you don't appear on the leaderboard until you sign up. So, that's the easiest way to tell if people are doing it. And I didn't do it for the longest time because I just don't think it's a good way of taking advantage of the system.
But when all your opponents are using it, I kind of had to. I was never going to promote on my Tamil 12 that you saw earlier in the video unless I did that late signup method. Am I proud of myself for doing it?
Not really. Not really. It feels a little bit dirty.
Like I said, it isn't out and out cheating. And that for me is why I feel comfortable doing it. Well, not comfortable, why I can justify doing it.
But I don't like it. So, I've reported it to Supercell and I really hope Supercell fixes it sooner than later. But, as I was saying at the start of this, the more people that do it, the the less powerful it becomes.
And that's another reason I wanted to do this video, to make it so that average players who don't want to take advantage of a stupid trick aren't held back. You guys have a chance, too. So, I want it to be essentially more difficult.
Now, it's worth noting just because you sign up late doesn't mean the threshold is always lower. For me, it's just on average about 30 to 40 cups, but there's definitely been seasons where it has ended up being higher. But yeah, that for me was why I really wanted to do this video.
If you respect me less for doing this, I'm really sorry. Um, I just wanted to get content. Like I said, I don't feel like I'm cheating.
But honestly, if enough of if enough of you go in the comments hooked, we don't think that's fair play. We don't think that's in the spirit of it. I'll stop signing up late.
Like I said, for me, it's it's a way of not cheating the system, but taking advantage of it. I don't think it's cheating. If you do it, guys, do though.
I I trust your moral compass more than mine. So, we're going to finish this video with a Townl Town 12 three star attack. Now, it's worth noting on my towel 9 and 10, I've started up signing up slightly late, not searching last second, because what I'm finding searching last second, you run into too high, like the bases are too difficult.
And at Town Hall 9 and 10, it is so hard to threear even two town halls higher. Uh it does take a lot of skill and a lot of luck to do it. So I've started up started only signing up slightly late, like a day in.
You still take a lot of defenses uh but less than you do if you sign up on time, but you're also just way more likely to be able to take down the bases in front of you. So that is another strategy you can do. Yet again, questionable whether you think that's in the requirement or whether that's fair play or not.
Now, like I said, I kind of hope late signup gets eradicated forever. Why do you even need late signup in the game? You have a whole week to sign up.
You even have the entirety of Monday. I don't understand why there's a like no gameplay on Monday. They should just make it so you just have the whole week to sign up and then you have the whole week to do your attacks.
No days off in my opinion. Like I said, I've given all this feedback to Supercell. We'll see if they get back to me.
Let me know down below though. Is there like scenarios where the late signup is useful for you guys? Cuz to me, I just don't see any functional purpose in the late signup.
Uh I just don't understand what it's helping. Like are there that many people that forget? Like if you've got auto signup on, you don't need late signup at all.
And I don't like the fact it gives a competitive advantage. Another way that they could make the late signup less effective is remove the average defenses that you get uh for every defense you don't take at the end of the season, it adds plus four, five or six for each of them. If they remove the average additions to defenses and just made it made it the number of defenses you take is the number you get.
Whilst that would be a slightly less fair system, it would be a very hard nerf to late signup and I think that would that's probably a good thing or like I said just get rid of late signup. It has no functional purpose in the game. It's just not really required.
As you can see here, this e drag was super duper clutch. Bam. And we get a town hall 9 uh town 10 v12 three star.
I was pretty happy with that one. Like I said, give me your feedback on this trick down below. Do you think it's cheating?
Do you think it's not cheating? Because Supercell have clearly allowed it to be a thing and therefore even though it's been reported to them, they haven't fixed it. So therefore, it's just playing within the rules.
Would you like me to keep doing it cuz then I'm more likely to get rank one content like you saw the rank one town hall or 13 video I did the other day. I'll link that on the left. or would you like to see me stop doing it because you don't like the fact that a content creator that you might look up to is doing something that you think is a little shady?
Let me know down in the comments below.
