I was an intern, I was like the lowest level of the totem pole, and he knew that, but he made it sound like I was, like, like I was like the most senior creative figure that he interacts with in the world. Like, I wouldn’t have half of my career without Virgil or the people that supported me. Virgil became super, obviously, acclaimed for his own output, but in the beginning he worked, actually, to get the best out of others.
In “The Ten” the sock liners have a slight, like, bump on each one, like this kind of haptic feedback, and he said to me “Like, everytime I put this shoe on I think of you because you were working on those sock liners. ” This guy opened up this door and it’s wide open. Like, everything you’ve heard about him all the stuff that you read, all these amazingly like positive stories about him, it doesn’t even scratch the surface.
It’s like that times ten. His legacy is gonna be felt for. .
. forever. That’s amazing.
