hello and welcome to our lecture on the trinity uh the trinity is the christian belief that there is one and only one god who exists in three persons those three persons are the father the son and the spirit this diagram is here to help you understand who the trinity or what the trinity is trinity is god there's only one right here one god and there are three persons the father the son the spirit all three are god that's why there's isis there the father is god the son he is god the spirit is god if
you remember back to our term of ontology the study of being ontologically in their being all three persons are god there is only one god then but the father is not the spirit the spirit is not the son and the son is not the father that they are distinct persons one god in essence three in persons and now some of you are thinking is that not a logical contradiction uh if you think about logic definitely as aristotle discovered it only you only make a logical contradiction when you break the law of non-contradiction that is the
belief that a thing is the same thing is and is not in the same way at the same time in the same place but when we talk about the trinity in essence it's one in persons it's three therefore it's not breaking the law of non-contradiction the trinity is one of the uniquenesses of christendom or christianity the belief that god has always existed in three persons he has existed in community he has existed in community since time began and because he's existed in community he's never needed anything including love the father loves the son the son
loves the father the spirit loves the father the spirit loves the son so he's existed in perfect love and trinity since time began and out of that goodness he has created okay until next time
