now football is often described as a game of highs and lows where players can experience extraordinary peaks in their careers and generally speaking these are known as runs of form these periods in time that can be defining for players careers so in today's video it's time to talk about some generational runs in football history and I think the first guy we have to talk about is Karim Benzema from 2021 to 2022 now benzema's campaign during the Champions League back in 201 21 was nothing but spectacular and honestly goes down as one of the finest in
the tournament's history he was finally the vital key man up top for Real Madrid and he thrived in his role and one competition that he absolutely dominated That season was the Champions League during this entire campaign Benzema got 44 goals in all competitions with 27 in the La Liga and 15 in the Champions League whilst also creating over 60 goal scoring opportunities whilst being the striker That season he showed traits that we had never really seen before in his game with a lot of his impact not only coming in the 18 yd box but in
the buildup play of attacks and I think what stands out to most of us when looking at Benzema during this year is the teams that he put up 10 out of 10 performances against a hat-trick against PSG in the round of 16 and match winning games against the likes of Man City and Chelsea where he scored four in the two legs many people thought that this run of four was only going to last during the group stage where this guy was bagging goals against the likes of shaktar denes but no when them elimination rounds came
Benzema stepped up playoff Benzema and with that tape on his hand he led his team to the very end and put himself at the Pinnacle of football with this campaign eventually winning him a Balon door now from a striker in Madrid to a goalkeeper that is legendary let's quickly talk about Jan Luigi Buffon in the 15/16 season during this season an aging Buffon LED Juventus to a League Cup but also a league title grabbing a double and also breaking a record by getting 10 consecutive clean sheets this guy put up 21 clean sheets throughout the
entire season and Juventus only conceded 17 of course you had the lacks of bar zagi in front of him but still Buffon was the godfa of this side anchoring Juventus to do so well that season with his leadership and consist consistency being a solid reason as to why Juventus did so well that season and I think Buon is one of these goalkeepers that get overlooked way too much but let's not disrespect his legacy this is a World Cup winner and a guy that stood on the stage with all the best players at one point now
let's fly back over to Spain and talk about a generational run of form that stemmed for an entire calendar year now in a previous video I have talked about this but liono Messi during the year of 2012 SA saved the world in a time where news outlets were telling us that the world was going to end Judgment day was on the horizon and the world would crumble before us an Argentinian Smurf showed up and scored 91 goals in a calendar year this Hobbit this Dobby looking Hobbit said you know what I ain't doing this world's
not ending I'm scoring 91 goals and putting the world on the map this is the type of Seasons that Pelle was claiming that he had when no one was watching football this guy's got recorded numbers 1,000 goals in the season Messi actually did 91 with all the goals recorded live TV Witnesses in the stadium P scored them on FIFA with 79 goals for Barcelona during the entire year and 12 for Argentina he was going crazy putting up numbers against every single team that he went up against I specifically remember when he scored five goals against
Bayer lusen in the Champions League now the next player on this list is a funny one because I don't think a lot of people really give him the flowers that he deserves so let's pick some flowers out of this flower bed and give them to Franchesco toti now this is a man of morals who went on a generational run during his entire career Franchesco toti at one point was one of the best players in the world and arguably B on all level and I think him staying by the side side of Roma for so long
actually put his legacy in a bit of a rut because during the early 2000s there were murmurs of him being a guy that Real Madrid wanted during a time where Real Madrid signed the likes of Luis Figo zidan Franchesco toti was another guy that was in the rumor mill this guy started off as an attacking midfielder and it was actually spalletti in 2005/6 that converted him to a false nine and this was a position that he would go on to dominate the syri with and that season through moving positions he got 15 goals and nine
assists in 24 games and toy that season could have had even more of an impact but he actually got injured and this injury would linger into the 2006 World Cup but still un limited minutes this guy contributed playing a key role in Italy's World Cup win and also providing four assists being the joint top assister and then he followed up that season by winning the European Golden Boot scoring 26 goals in the league and out performing the likes of Drogba and Ronaldinho and through this long career of loyalty he amassed 250 goals for one Club
Franchesco totti's generational run in my opinion stemmed through the back ends of his career standing the test of time and contributing so much to as Roma now from a loyal Italian Striker to arguably the best Premier League player of all time we have to talk about tiar on re during the 20023 season in in the season during Prime Premier League years HRI put up 24 goals and 20 assists in the league during the season hory LED Arsenal all the way to the end but it came with a lackluster finish with Arsenal bottling the league nobody
since has recorded 20 assists in a season let alone get 24 goals too and even watching some of the assists back during that season they weren't no shabby assists they weren't no just give it to him and he's running pass four players they were setups this guy was truly an advanced forward in that attacking line he wasn't just a striker he wasn't just a center forward he was everything now next up when it comes to generational runs in football come over here moella no not mini Mina what are you doing here yeah what's this guy
doing he has a generational run in the charity games but come over here Salah now most salah's impact of upon joining Liverpool in 2017 was instant to say the least he came back to the Premier League with some Vengeance in his heart winning PFA play of the year and scoring 32 goals in the Premier League alone he scored 44 goals in all competitions 10 assists as well and he just so nearly missed out on a Champions League medal too in my heart I believe that if Salah didn't get injured in that final Liverpool would have
won and that season for Salah would have gone down in history because now when people talk about runs of form in football oh CO's the best player in the league why weren't you saying this to Moos Salah this guy had a bigger impact on the scene than Mr Beast on YouTube Mo Salah is the Mr Beast of the Premier League he just turned up out of nowhere and started making hits but then you look back at his discography you look back at the history of Salah and this guy's been doing it for years just like
Mr Beast he didn't just come from nowhere this guy was grinding Salah was Unstoppable this season he was tearing up everyone he was literally on that right wing looking like the Egyptian Messi Messi with an afro he even cut off the hair this season and no did that affect his form or did a little haircut affect his form I'm Fernando Torres no yeah cut off his hair looking like jib now next up we got to talk about a Polish giant Lewandowski get to the Cher now Lewandowski during the 2020 the 21 season again come on
let's just it's not even a joke you know this guy played So Good played so good during this season yeah that they had to rig the balandor ceremony France football said no you ain't getting nothing yeah Poland what have they done for France they did nothing for France he scored 48 goals in all competitions That season he won the European golden shoe he won the Bundesliga of course he did what else do you expect Müller was right to call this guy lolski because that's what he does and you can't just say oh he was that
good because he went to the best team in the Bundesliga no leang gski was still leang gski when he was playing for Borussia Dortmund let's not forget when he absolutely blasted Real Madrid in the Champions League and then let's look at him now Tick Tock dancing his way to a La Liga title this season 100% this is one of the best strikers from the last what 20 years he's top five minimum people will say ah Luis Suarez lisis Suarez bro I'm I rating Lis Suarez this guy a racist he's racist first of all he didn't
even Shake Patrick's ever's hand shake that brother's hand and then you can get called better than leowski lolski now next up on the list is a cult hero they would say he was a streets will never forget but I didn't even forget I I remember him that's why he's in this video Let's Talk about Deli alli's time at Tottenham Hotspur now this guy was one of the most promising young talents to come out of that dead team and he didn't even come out of that dead team he came from MK Don and I think it
was his 201627 season that was actually generational with 18 goals and 17 assists That season his impact was clear to see whilst also winning the PFA young Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017 he was truly the Jude Bellingham before Jude Bellingham he he had it all and in my opinion he was a way better player to watch this tall lanky attacking midfielder that had the creative awareness to see his Wingers cutting in so he could play balls in behind but also he had the ability to roam with the ball pick it up from
deep and just create chances himself but let's not also get into the fact that he was a goal muncher he was a goal muncher he used to munch up opportunities not only with this Instinct ability to poach the ball and be in the right places but also you know this guy could just pull out a trick randomly you know he did some like spinning goal against I don't know was it Crystal Palace that slapped the ball twisted and just hit on the volley you ain't seeing the like come on name a player that's doing that
now another generational run of form in football comes from a football team a team that wears blue Now Chelsea from 2005 to 2006 were a defensive Shield to say the least they were like the Dome that came over Springfield during The Simpsons Movie locking up locking up the town and the town was the Premier League because during the 20056 season Chelsea conceded just 15 goals and of course they won the Premier League but I think the real you know the real aspect that people say what the hell was the 15 goals this back line was
carvalo John Terry maal these guys led by of course the most pragmatic manager of all time Jose Mourinho they just locked up shop all season they did their thing they had Ballers on the pitch and you know what they deserve the shout as having a generational run because we'll never see that again maybe in FIFA we're going to see that again but we're not going to see that again another generational run that we have to talk about is from a snake Robin van persy during the 2011 to 12 season was insane he had one of
the most phenomenal final seasons of a player I've ever seen and I was there as an Arsenal fan I witnessed this this guy slapped 30 Premier League goals during that season for Arsenal achieving the Golden Boot while getting no titles that year only helping Arsenal to secure a Champions League spot during this season you saw him hit all these different shots his iconic volleys being just the tip of the iceberg Robin van persy was iconic and then through making this amazing Legacy at arsenal we thought next season let's make a die for the league if
if R pers is going to keep up this form we got to keep going and then we find out he's moved to Old Trafford as an Arsenal fan I was broken I was on my niece you look back at that season and see how he replicated that exact Runner form for Arsenal to man united becoming one of the main guys you know Batman being Rooney Robin being van persy they took over the league and for these two seasons I think van persy was the best player in the entire league now for the last player in
this video I thought I would go you know scouser let's quickly talk about Steven Gerard through 2008 to 2009 now during this time Gerard showcased his Peak form solidifying his reputation as one of the Premier League's alltime best midfielders during this season Steven gerro from Central Midfield scored 16 goals finishing third in the league behind the likes of Nicholas anela and Cristiano Ronaldo whilst also providing nine assists and getting 25 goal involvements during the season this was in a season where he only played 31 games not the quickest of players almost agile he still thrived
in behind Fernando Torres and unfortunately he only LED Liverpool to finish second in the league That season with 86 points but during this time that was their highest ever Premier League finish this season will always remain as one of the most complete displays from a midfielder in premier league history and I think Steven Gerard's influence is way too understated especially in the modern game there's all these midfielders now that want to run up and down the pitch help out defensively and score goals whilst also being physical enough and passionate enough to lead the game Steven
jarard was that guy a generational Runner form should be a moment in time where a player was Unstoppable and all eyes were on him so if you have any notable mentions that we could talk about in a part two to this video please leave them in the comments below and I'll be sihing through and trying to make a followup to this video maybe in a month or two but of course this has been jib rules back with another video like the video comment subscribe we're trying to get 1 billion subscribers by my birthday which is
