hey everyone welcome to the hair transplant Channel my name is Joe Tillman and you're watching the official YouTube channel for hair transplantmentor.com [Music] right in this video we're going to be revisiting hair transplant Mentor accepted clinic hatting and hair and the informational or the hair transplant information series by Dr severe mercenu who's one half of the dynamic duo at Hannigan hair with the other half being his wife Dr Laura mercenu and in this video we're going to be talking specifically or he's going to be talking specifically about hairlines and Temple points and how they work
together and I think it's an extremely important video so I'm going to shut up let you listen to this I highly recommend you pay attention I do have some comments at the end of the video so stick around let's do it foreign [Music] the hairline should be addressed when the Framing and the proper proportions of the face are no longer there what is meant by that traditionally uh one would say that the proportions the the golden proportion the three areas of the face should be equal so below your nose to below your chin is the
same as below your nose between your eyebrows below your eyebrows until your hairline that is the golden proportion the hairline can recede a little bit and still offer good framing of the face the natural inclination of the hair growth the natural angulation is from the back to the front so when hair grows it automatically looks a little bit lower except if you put a ton of gel in your hair and you slick it back uh that's when you see the the true level of the hairline but generally if hair has a certain length it'll look
a little bit lower in my case for example I guess my hairline would look somewhere around here aesthetically if I pull my hair back which is at least centimeter to two centimeter difference to where the actual hairline starts and how it looks when my hair Falls naturally I don't comb my hair very purposely to the front to try to cover up that I have very very minimal recession it just Falls like that it's just the natural way it is and uh I have connections I could get this repaired every day here if I wanted to
I'm not going to do it because I think it looks very natural like that also the fact that my recession is completely asymmetrical so the right side is a lot more advanced than the left side if you were to see me on the street in all honesty uh you wouldn't necessarily say that I need a hair transplant so slight imperfections small recessions are not an issue it is an issue however if these lateral recessions go very deep and if this island of hair in the middle is very thin very narrow then we can talk about
uh maybe doing some corrective work it also depends if this island in the middle also starts to thin out [Music] usually the way that these lateral recessions progress is not just the top part but it's also the lateral hairline that goes back and you have this sort of building of a golf yeah and the the French patients call it the Gold Flat tapal the lateral Gulf just addressing this top area will solve a lot of the problem but if the lateral hairline is recessed a lot just lowering this will not produce a very harmonious result
the lateral hairline with the superior hairline have to be in harmony so if you have large recession here on top lateral hairline that has receded a lot just lowering this straightening this out will produce an unbalanced result it may produce what some call it a triangular looking face because the side the lateral framing is not there so looking at this aspect is also important in uh getting balance in in the framing of the face transplanting the temporal areas is a little bit tricky uh because the angulation is very acute [Music] the direction obviously it has
small directional changes as well but what is of critical importance here is that we look at the curvature of the hair shaft the hair is almost never completely straight it always has a slight curve to it and we can we can hit the proper direction and the the absolute correct angle but when we plant the graphs if we don't look and if we don't consider the curvature of the hair shaft you may get hairs that grow correctly and in the right angulation but as soon as they get some length they will grow outwards like this
so this is a very important aspect on transplanting the temple points it may be by very strong lateral recession that it's more rational to reconstruct some of this and and the amount of graphs that is needed here is a lot lower than what is needed here because of the strong angulation hair covers skin very well because of this downward Direction in this very acute angle so the the return on investment can be uh very good in addressing the the lateral aspects of the of the hairline on now this of course needs to be put into
the context of the larger problem here on top and of future hair loss it can be risky transplanting the sides because the lateral hairline may continue to recede in which case one is left with a floating island of hair and an opening Gap behind it which basically forces the patient into another session to fill in the gaps it has to be considered very carefully but if if deemed necessary and acceptable it can produce very very good results and very pleasing Aesthetics right another fantastic presentation by hair transplant Mentor accepted member Dr Sever mercino and if
you like this presentation do not forget to hit that like button I need the support and of course subscribe if you're not subscribed and ring the bell for all notifications because more of these videos are coming out and I think this is an important video in this overall series by having in here because Temple points are such an overlooked subject when it comes to how clinics address hairlines and far too many Temple points are screwed up far too many clinics over pack them they don't understand the shape they'll understand the angle and direction in relation
to the greater hair hair Direction angle on the scalp that's another subject I might talk about in my own video but this is important and I look at Temple points you might have seen that overlay where it's talking about how density is not really necessary for a good Temple Point well that's true because if you you look at a a patient that's very bald you don't need a lot of hair to frame the face and to make a big difference and it's the same thing with Tempo points if you have no Temple point you don't
need a lot of hair to create a temple point and give the balance to the profile that is so important so that's that I'm out of here like the video if you liked it found it informative don't forget to subscribe ring the bell for notifications and there are more videos coming out very soon thanks for watching out of here peace foreign [Music]
