read passages out of context and you will find yourself steeped in idolatry walking into these filthy buildings with filthy statues and you'll be steeped in AER if that's what you want please if you like being a Christian if you enjoy it if you get a kick out of it never read passages in context okay next episod we have uh Arthur Jones on the phone Arthur you're live on the air go ahead and tell Rabbi your question hello Rabbi singer thank you so much for doing what what God tells you to do because it's trickling down
to all of us and and this stuff is real I have a question sir about Jeremiah uh chapters 31- 33 very powerful chapters and it talks about the New Covenant and since I've been reading you and your books I went out and I got a tanak and I've been reading that chapter 32 specifically verse 31 says very clearly about the New Covenant conditions and it talks about uh God's going to come down with us teach us of laws in our hearts and in our minds and we're and we're no longer going to be taught by
other people and I mean 31 to 33 is unbelievable and if if if we if that's and it is true then we're not under a New Covenant now and all the all the religions that are saying we're under a New Covenant that's not the truth so my question would be if we're not under the New Covenant are we still under the davidic Covenant which was before it or or are we you know observing the Sabbath and the holy days sweetheart for a moment stay with me don't hang up let's just be because we're using a
word covenant a lot and we need to just unpack this what does the word covenant mean what does it mean to you what do you think that word just what does it mean simple word what's meant it means an agreement that's all that's all it does do mean a dispensation you s I'm sure you're An American in the United States Christmas is a Federal holiday despite the Constitution that um protects your right to believe what you wish you live in a Christian country and a very conservative one at that and because of that you you
must be aware that you have just become acclimated to terms and they come to mean things to you because of the world that you you grew up in and I'm very grateful to you and I'm I'm going to explain that all so thank you sweetheart for your thoughtful question I'll explain it all to you you're asking about the Covenant I'm going to talk about that right now a covenant just means a promise it doesn't mean a new testament or a a new Torah or a new scripture or a new Canon or a new any of
those things none of those things you quite we're talking about J Jeremiah 31 here and Jeremiah tells us first he dispenses with the idea of vicarious atonement that the innocent cannot die for the sins of the wicked if they would only pay attention to this chapter to this numinous chapter people would run out of the church and the Covenant means that the Jewish people were brought to the land of Israel brought out of Egypt brought to the Holy Land and God kept his side of the agreement he brought them into AR Israel brought them to
the land of Israel as he had promised he would do going all the way back to Genesis remember his conversation with Abraham Genesis 15 he said I kept my side of the agreement but and I was a husband to them but they broke this or of the Covenant and expelled but you're quite right this end of Jeremiah is Messianic in that days are coming that the Jews are going to return back to and the Jewish people can never be destroyed never in fact thus sayeth the Lord if the heavens could be measured if the foundations
of the earth below can be explored then I would cast off Israel as being a nation before me I if the fixed order of the celestial bodies would leave the sun and the moon and the stars so would I cast off Israel that means the children of Israel will be restored back to the land of Israel that's all it means and you are quite right and I guess you got that from my book you mentioned my books I assume it but I explained this in volume one of Let's Get biblical that in those days if
you want to know what those days are like in those days no one will have to teach anyone about God for they shall all know me from the least of them to the greatest declares the Lord are we living in such a time was the first century such a time then of course not you understand in these days when the children of Israel restored back to the land of Israel and the certainty of the children of Israel returning back to the land of Israel is so secure that H uses the celestial bodies the son the
moon the stars the very foundation of the Earth as a metaphor of the permanence of the chos the seed of Jacob so what he's saying is that they're going to return and you should know an identifying feature is that everyone will know about God from the least of them to the greatest declares the Lord you won't have to even tell your neighbor about God the I'm going to be out of business very happily will not have to do any of this stuff and the church doesn't talk about that of course not because it doesn't work
it's inconsistent with Hebrews 8 with these numinous passages with these Eternal oracles are mistranslated and in Hebrews that's where they're getting this from in Hebrews 8 it's crazy the author of Hebrews is anonymous no one knows who wrote it even Church fathers questioned not all but many questioned whether the book of Hebrews belongs to the New Testament because they questioned it's that it was Pauline eventually the church came to be convinced that the book of Hebrew it's it is very well written unfortunately and it's it's written much more systematically than Paul's letter but they came
to believe that Paul wrote it Paul didn't write it that's for sure I mean Paul could have written the Pastoral Epistles because the the letters of Paul went through some editing process some but Hebrews definitely was not written by Paul but it is Pauline but this idea New Covenant comes with a book that if you ask how do you know who wrote it they say I don't know they always say the same thing you know instead of answering the question like why would you rely on the book that you don't even know who wrote it
like who wrote it why what I mean that's the consequences are enormous right it's not like I say here try this chewing gum it tastes delicious oh you see it's kosher whatever you know person says take this pill how do I know I can trust you so when you go to the doctor's office he has big diplomas all over the place his medical school his where he went to Nursery School he went went to kindergarten his boards and where he did his his boards and schms and all the things so you know that before that
you take that prescription and blindly go to the pharmacy say and take all these pills in your body you're trusting the guy because of his diplomas right or else you wouldn't put this stuff in your body who wrote this book who wrote it how do you know was the the was the Roman Catholic the Catholics are right the Protestants are completely relying on the Roman Catholic Church to consider the book of Hebrews as part of the cannon I'm not a fan of the Roman Catholic church but Protestants are in a losing battle when they fight
Catholics on this point it was the Catholic church that decided that these books should be part of the Canon like how do you know he and you're and then you'll always get this and this is a scorched Earth two ququ fallacy they well there are Anonymous books in t we have to do with anything we're talk about the book of Hebrews now you're telling me I in the book of Hebrews that lied lied like a dog in Hebrews 88:9 the text in Jeremiah 31 says I was their husband and Hebrews changes I disregarded them or
rejected them how do you change the word of God totally change the word of God and Hebrews 8 ends in verse 13 stating that whatever is old waxes way and vanishes completely it means the Covenant with Jewish people a complete lie the whole point of Jeremiah 31 is that Israel will never disappear look at Jeremiah 30:3 that the Jews would return back to the land of Israel it's mindblowing that means Hebrews 8 it's not that it's like a different spin or it's a deeper understanding it is eradicating the whole point of Jeremiah 31 Jeremiah 31
is the Jews will be restored Tyra will be restored and Hebrews 8 is saying it's an old that's where the term Old Testament comes from and when Christians use the term Old Testament I don't know always correct them because I don't want to you know pick be sound pedantic but every time I want to just say this to the Christians you use the term Old Testament around the Jew it makes us nuts it it it's like scratching your nails on a Blackboard because it is Hebrews 8113 that means that God has done away with it
now Christians believe that the Jewish Bible is Holy but they believe that the law has been done away with um it's been it's just a shadow um and the essence is Christ they all believe that so you're absolutely correct all someone has to do is read Jeremiah 31 and ask the question are we living in the time when there's the New Covenant and of course not we're living in a time when not everyone knows about God the vast majority people don't know about the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob and it's time for them to
do ch now you like ah Christianity is such a success story that it spread Jes the go no they spread idolatry throughout the world is there a religion is there a is there a cancer that has metastasized that has been a a vessel for transporting and transmitting and mutating idolatry more than Christianity it's mindblowing the only thing is Christianity prepares the world for the coming of Messiah because when the true Mia comes then the Christians will say so who would have believed their report look look to whom the armor of the Lord has been revealed
so that Christianity does serve that so very good sweetheart it's very good that you re read those passages in context no more I of Jesus only ex of Jesus only reading incon if you want to die spiritually read passages out of context and you will find yourself steeped in idolatry walking into these filthy buildings with filthy statues and you'll be steeped in a that's what you want please if you like being a Christian if you enjoy it if you get a kick out of it never read passages in context don't do it however if you
want to kiss if you want to have an Deus with Hashem if you want a personal relationship with read verses in context and don't have to read books and have to read any books read the original sources okay the tanak was written for humans Not Angels it's not written for fancy people with fancy IQs you can read it and understand it if you it doesn't mean you won't encounter a passage that's nebulous it's a little difficult on and you will but use Clear passages in the Hebrew Bible to interpret passages that are nebulous never the
other way around or you'll find yourself in idolatry anyways thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and question if you enjoyed this program please like And [Music] subscribe for [Applause] [Music]
