A student's biggest fear is blanking out during a test. And as crazy as it may sound cheating on a test could be the answer. In order to take a test, you use your working memory which several neuroscience researchers refer to simply as "attention" Our reasoning is limited and heavy daily chores such as taking a test require exclusivity.
Anxiety ends up stealing this exclusivity reducing or nullifying our working memory [our attention] Resulting in the so-called 'Blanking Out' effect students complain while taking a test. So the first question is: "Where does this anxiety come from? " Simply put: fear.
Fear of not remembering the correct answer, fear of losing our scholarship fear of disappointing our parents. These fears are the reason behind not only a poor performance in a test but also the reason behind depression and other mental health issues. Two researchers from the University of Chicago developed a handful of experiments with high school students in order to identify the most efficient solution to curb anxiety during a test.
They experimented with a written exercise taken approximately 10 minutes before taking the exams Under two different interventions. In one intervention they wrote down their fears related to the test itself. During the other intervention they wrote down their fears related to anything else.
The results demonstrated that the majority of students who wrote down their fears in relation to the test itself such as: "I must remember that Sine equals 1,2,3 and not the Cosine. " had a significantly better performance in the test. In other words: it's not just any description of fear that will enhance a performance during a test but the written fears that are specifically related to the content of the test itself.
As crazy as it sounds, the act of writing down a cheat for a test equates to this very intervention. The student's fear of not being able to remember the subject of a test forces them to create their own intervention: a cheat describing every single content they fear to forget reducing their anxiety and guaranteeing a better performance in the test. So, it begs the question: "What is the best cheating method?
It's the one you don't have to use it You only have to write it down. All of you "rational people" Please subscribe to our channel.
