[cheering] Heat. Heat. [music] [cheering] You are doing great.
No rush. We got time. She always rock you.
Come on. Come to me. as Lupe Fias, it's me against the world.
That attitude, the lone wolf mentality. But Sergio, is that a good thing or a recipe for disaster? He already faced the dark side and [music] he wants to shine now.
He wants to shine like the star that he was. You know, he no shame loses to the best, but it it makes you bitter. It makes you dark.
But if you know how to channel that energy and channel it the right way, then it's a good thing. I always say you got to be [music] yourself no matter what the circumstance is. I want to see the smile right now.
I'm going keep it real with y'all. I want to see him operate like he always has. You change anything right now, you might be changing for the worst, not the [music] best.
23 wins, only one defeat, but it came in his last fight against Travante Davis. He attempts his climb back up the mountain here tonight. [music] [music] [music] This fight right here is an interesting one.
This is a classic clash of styles between a fast, explosive outside counter puncher and a relentless aggressive inside pressure fighter. From the opening bell, Connor Ben charges forward with aggressive energy, looking to force phone booth exchanges and rip devastating hooks to the body. Connor Ben looking for a quick fire demolition job win here in the Manchester.
Ryan Garcia, operating with rapid snap jabs and sharp peripheral vision, stays composed on the outer ring, sizing up Ben's lunging entries and waiting for the split-second opening. Big left hand by Garcia. Rocks Haney early.
Garcia say he's going to knock him out in the early rounds unfold as a tense battle for distance. Ben attempts to smother Garcia's lead shoulder and drag him into a dirty brawl. However, Garcia's elite hand speed catches Ben mid- entry, keeping the fight centered.
Waters pulls his [music] big right hand from Brian Garcia as the [music] Then comes the explosive alternate reality. A shock fifth round stoppage. In this scenario, Ben lunges in with a heavy overhand right, overextending his posture.
Well, here's the pockets of fire. We want to shout to the bully again from Ben. It's calculated.
educated. It's impressive from Garcia uncors his lethal trademark check left hook, catching Ben right on the point of the chin. Ben hits the canvas hard, unable to beat the referee's 10 count before the round closes out.
Hard right hand. Wow, how did he weather that? Another one and a hook and down he goes.
You predicted an early knockout in this fight. What are you seeing technically that makes you so confident going into this fight? He's uh I mean he looks good, you know, when he's fighting.
He's explosive and whatnot, but you know, when somebody's kind of a beginner in a way, he's he's an athletic beginner. So, you know, he's not at my my, you know, level at this point, and it's not a shot at him. He just don't have a lot of experience.
So, um we're going to make that real known for sure. If Ben manages to survive that explosive onslaught, the bout turns into a grueling war of attrition. Ben backs Garcia to the ropes with heavy body flurries, testing his high guard defense.
Yet, Garcia's athletic timing reasserts control in the late stretch, punishing Ben's straight line attacks with precise jab hook combinations. I think he originally hurt Dwarte with a right hand. Um, you know, so yeah, Ryan does have a right hand.
He's not just a one-trick pony, but when you see him just going Hail Mary to that, you know that psychologically he's already in a bad place. If he's if he's feeling loose and letting both hands go, that's a that's a whole lot to deal with. When he starts just lowering the left hook, it's like, all right, well, he's going for Brooke, which is what he did against Tank and got caught.
Yeah. And he's got a Ultimately, this fight delivers non-stop drama. Whether Garcia secures an early highlight reel knockout in the fifth or battles his way to a hard-fought decision, his rapid speed and lethal timing remain the ultimate gamecher.
Besides, the boxing world has predicted an easy night for Ryan where he cruises to victory. Ryan Garcia and Connor Ben fighting at the weight you were champion at. Um, how do you see that fight?
Is that a competitive fight or I don't think so. Why not? I think Ryan wins by knockout.
I just I just I've always felt that uh that Ben is a novice fighter. I mean, he did start later in his career. I think he was like 17, 18, I heard.
Uh, so he's he he doesn't have the experience that a lot of these other young fighters have. Athletic. Oh, he's athletic.
Yeah. I mean, I think his dad was champion, right? So, I think he carried those jeans.
He is athletic. He does have an awkward style that may help help him in some fights, but I don't [snorts] think at this level in my opinion. I think he is knocked out.
I don't think he has the power to demand respect. Ryan Garcia is simply too good for Connor Ben. Unfortunately, while the technical gap between these two boxers is simply too vast to ignore, that's not even the biggest problem Connor Ben has to deal with.
A natural middleweight, Connor Ben had to drop over 20 pounds to make weight for the fight. The boxing world warned that brutal weight cuts force the body to cannibalize its own lean tissue to survive. Gaining back 15 lbs of water in an afternoon might make a fighter look incredible under the stage lights, but it does absolutely nothing to restore the lost muscle density, punch resistance, or cardiovascular stamina required to endure 12 rounds of professional combat.
The body has experienced severe trauma and it will spend fight night desperately trying to heal rather than perform. I'm thinking about the water weight. It It reminds me especially on the scale when he was standing right there on that stage.
I just thought back of Xander Z. Remember when Xander Zas looked gaunt and looked sickly and everything and then come the way we in he looked completely refreshed and completely hydrated. But then fight night and you saw his his performance against Boots and right after the fight he said, "I can't do this.
I'm moving up. " So when looking at Connor Ben and how he hydrated, right, how he rehydrated and I'm looking at him and he looks fine, but I'm wondering if the muscle he had to cut muscle to be to make this weight at 146. He had to cut muscle and all of the water filling the muscle he has now, right?
To cuz he has to rehydrate. So, it's water rushing to his body and is kind of ballooning the muscles he has now. He cut muscle to make that weight, but the rehydration is water filling in the muscle.
It It makes me wonder how active those muscles are going to be on fight night. I'm still questioning if he's going to be his explosive fast self, the guy that we saw against Chris Eubank Jr. those two fights.
Is that going to be kind of If so, it's closer to a 50-50 fight. If not, if his body has done a lot to repair because look, when you've cut that much weight and you look like that, your body sees you as sick and it's trying to recover and be healthy again. and it's going to recover with whatever it can, mostly water, as fast as it can.
So, it's spending a lot of energy for you to be healthy again. I'm wondering if there's enough resources in his body on fight night for him to be the explosive, fast, hard punching Connor Ben who endures, has the stamina, and work at that pace for all 12 rounds, can endure heavy punches from Ryan Garcia. The visual of a severely compromised fighter sent immediate panic through the boxing industry, forcing current and former champions to abandon their original predictions.
Taophimo Lopez originally favored Ben's aggressive, relentless pressure to smother Garcia's speed. But after witnessing the weigh-in, Lopez publicly reversed his stance, stating flatly that the circumstances were now tailor made for Garcia to secure a devastating win. Me about this fight coming up this Saturday.
Ryan Garcia and Connor Ben, what's your prediction? Ah man, my prediction. I was rooting for Connor Ban until he had a statement that he released a couple weeks ago saying that this will be his only one and last time that he fights at this weight class and then he'll move up to 160.
So I got to go for Ryan Garcia. You know, I think Ryan has the attributes to definitely defeat Conor Ben. He has the skill sets now.
Is what kind of Ryan are we getting? That's another thing that people have a question mark on. But I think Connor Ben is definitely going to make it a rugged fight for Connor.
How can it affect this fight if Connor Ben is already looking to move up two weight classes beyond this fight? One, why did Connor Ben even take the the fight? But it makes sense, right?
Look at it now. Look at the promotion. Look at the money.
Look at that. All those things come into that big factor to go down two weight classes to do it. I don't think anyone's ever succeeded by doing that.
You know, maybe we've seen people succeed going up but never down. Roy Jones Jr. when he went down, he had to cut some muscle.
Was never the same fighter. So, we've never seen someone climb weight classes and then go back down to your point. Yeah.
It's just a scientific uh it's just your body, you know, you're dehydrating your brain, right? I think with Ryan, you know, he's really focused on tapping that tempo early on to probably call it an early night for Carnaben. Is that a is that a real possibility?
Yeah, of course. Can't be. You can't you can't There's a possibility.
I think it'll go to decision, you know, just because in high hopes of Cara Ben wanting it so bad, at least make it a fight. But there is a high chance a higher chance of Carnaban, you know, not lasting that long in the ring with Ryan Garcia. Legendary former champion Carl Frock offered a much more brutal reality check.
He argued that stepping into the ring against a prime lightning fast Garcia with a body that has been starved and dehydrated is a recipe for absolute disaster. Then again, Frock hinted that there's a silver lining for Ben going into the ring. According to Froch, the outcome of this fight depends on which version of Ryan Garcia shows up.
A fully focused and confident Ryan Garcia is incredibly dangerous. If not, Ben can take advantage of Ryan's defensive lapses and score a major upset in Las Vegas. But when I'm looking at Connor Ben and what he's done, [clears throat] how good is he?
How impressed am I with him? He's got a win against Chris Algeri. He's got that loss, then the win against against Chris Eubank Jr.
And then he's coming in on the back of a 12 round labor labored performance against a a weak drained old tired finished Regis Progress. So that don't set him up for a prime Ryan Garcia and I think he's going to struggle and I don't think he can win this this fight and I don't think he goes past five rounds. So I'm giving him a lot of there if I'm honest.
I think he's getting chinned. I think he's walking onto a hook. The only caveat is to that which Ryan Garcia turns up.
Ryan Garcia obviously a powerhouse on the world level. He's not the higher echelons of the elite level fighters, but he is a top level world beater and does his win with Luke Campbell. He's in with Tank Davis.
Drined down at that weight against Tank Tank Davis, but then he's back up against Devin Haney and we know he failed a drug test for that one. But he gave Deon Haney a bit of a whooping, didn't he? And um Roelly Romero lost to him.
We looked a bit he blows hot and cold, doesn't he? But then he looked good in his last fight against Barios and he's now WBC world champion at 147. So he's in form based on his last fight and when you look at some of the names that I've just mentioned there, it's elite level, world level.
So I think the only way Connor Ben might have a chance in this fight and this what they might be gambling on is if Ryan Garcia doesn't turn up. he doesn't turn up on the if his mind's not on it and he's not firing on all cylinders and he puts in a low performance. Ryan Garcia has the golden opportunity to become the new face of boxing.
Very few stars get the opportunity to fight on auspicious boxing holidays such as Mexican Independence Day weekend. The sheer magnitude of this collision quickly dragged boxing royalty into the debate with the biggest icons in the sport completely split on who walks out alive. Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez threw his support behind his former stablemate, insisting that Garcia possesses rare special talent that can beat anyone when he stays locked in.
Now is going to be Ryan Garcia against Connor Ben. How is your relationship with Ryan now? Good.
Uh, obviously we don't talk that much, but he's good. I always saying that I like Ryan. He's very talented and when he's focused, he can beat everybody.
Do you think he wins that fight? I know Connor too and I like Connor too. But I think Ryan is is a special fighter.
He was telling me he was on the show yesterday and he was saying that um sometimes he gets heat from people especially the Mexican fans cuz he doesn't speak Spanish and they don't feel like he's like truly Mexican because he, you know, didn't grow up there or something like that. How do you how do you feel about that? Is that fair?
Yeah, maybe. But who cares? Yeah, he can fight.
Who cares, right? That's kind of his approach, too. But he's now fighting on that special date.
That's a That's a very That's You fought there. De La Hoya fought there. It's a special special date to fight on that that weekend, right?
He's very good. Especially if I turned out down that day now. Yeah.
Because I moved my fight. I think he's he's he's good for fighting that day. I think he's the correct person to do it.
He's the right guy. And a fight, right? A fight deserved that day.
Heavyweight icon Mike Tyson kept his prediction characteristically raw, backing King Rye while acknowledging Ben is steadily improving. Ryan Garcia Conor Ben. Ryan Garcia Ben.
Who wins? Ryan Garcia knock out. Perhaps the most surprising prediction came from Terence Crawford.
The recently retired boxing icon is going to be ringside for the fight and will be cheering for Connor Ben. You don't have to give a prediction or a pick, but can you give some insight into how you see this fight playing out? I'm picking Connor Ben.
Why is that? I just think that if he can take the punches, he's going to be, you know, a rude style matchup for Ryan. I think, you know, if Ryan comes in and he can show his power and [music] get Ben to respect him or hurt Ben, then Ryan's going to win for sure.
But if he can't, then he's going to lose this fight. The experts are overwhelmingly in favor of Connor Ben. As for the fans, expect massive crowds in support of both boxers.
A significant British crowd is expected to fill up the T-Mobile arena in support of Ben. Ryan Garcia, Conor Ben. I got Ryan Garcia by knockout in the first round.

So, of course. Connor Ben, of course. The destroyer.
First three rounds. Knockout. Okay.

Ryan Garcia. Why? I just think he's gonna knock his ass out.
I hope [laughter] everyone's excited for this showdown. While Ryan is the favorite, there's still some suspense as to who shows up determined to win. If Connor Ben uses his explosive power to punish Ryan, and if he somehow avoids Ryan's lethal left hook and right hand, he stands a great chance of stunning the crowd.
But who do you have winning this fight? Let me know in the comments. That's all for today.
