Turkey Saul came from a family of Jewish origin more specifically from The Tribe of Benjamin during his young years he was a fervent opponent of Christianity devoting himself intensely to the persecution of followers of that Faith however his life took an extraordinary turn when he had a miraculous experience with Jesus which brought about a radical transformation in his Outlook and lifestyle from that moment on Saul became an enthusiastic defender of Christianity deeply committed to propagating its teachings he became a notable propagator of the message of Jesus not only among the Jews but also expanding his
influence as a mission throughout regions such as Greece Asia Minor Syria and Palestine in addition to his missionary activities Paul also played a significant role in founding Christian communities and consolidating Christian theology he is credited with writing a large portion of the New Testament contributing his Epistles and letters that address theological ethical and practical issues for early followers of Christianity his journey from persecutor to Apostle and Christian leader left a lasting and fundamental Legacy for the spread and consolidation of Christianity in the ancient world the Apostle Paul clearly illustrates that God does not display preferences
for people and that he selects what is considered embarrassing and looked down upon in the world to disconcert individuals who are learned and initial at the beginning of his career Paul was a Pharisee and was instructed in the precepts of the law this condition transformed him into someone deeply committed to the observance of Jewish law and a fervent persecutor of Christianity his entry into the biblical narrative occurs during the event of Steven's death as recorded in verse 58 of of the seventh chapter of the book of Acts this account mentions that while Steven was being
stoned his clothes were thrown at the feet of a young man named Saul at this point Paul began a campaign of Devastation against the church arresting both men and women and imprisoning them in the next chapter Saul heads to Damascus with the aim of persecuting the followers of Christianity during this journey Jesus appeared to Saul and asked him Saul why do you persecute me Saul surprised asked who are you Lord Jesus promptly replied I am Jesus whom you are persecuting this Revelation caused Saul to be astonished and apprehensive he asked Jesus what he should do
and Jesus told him to enter the city where he would receive further instructions about his purpose so Paul got up but he went blind and did not eat or drink for 3 days in this state God was about to perform a surprising feat in Saul's life meanwhile a disciple of Jesus named ananas received a divine revelation to look for Saul who was praying ananas obeyed and upon arrival immediately placed his hands on Saul he revealed that he would show Saul how much he would need to suffer because of his name this is where the Apostle
Paul's journey in the book of Galatians begins in the first chapter and in verse 17 the Apostle Paul recounts a period of 3 years that he spent in the Arabian region being instructed directly by Jesus Christ after this phase he returned to Jerusalem Paul's tireless efforts to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ played a key role in the rapt spread of Christianity among the followers of Jesus no one contributed as much as Paul to establishing the foundations of Christian doctrine and practices through the work of the Apostle Paul the gospel message spread throughout Asia and
Europe he played a unique role in the history of Salvation being primarily responsible for the initial spread of the Evangelical message among the Gentile Nations the love of Christ had completely captivated Paul as he himself testified which fueled his dedication and tireless effort for the gospel as portrayed in acts 20:24 in this verse he declares but I insist on nothing nor do I consider my life to be precious as long as I fulfill my career and the ministry that I receive from the Lord Jesus with joy to bear witness to the gospel of the grace
of God this verse highlights an individual who was deeply influenced by the love of Christ his experience of Salvation and being a recipient of the love and grace of the Son of God acted as an impetus for his total dedication to the cause of the Lord Jesus Christ the Apostle Paul faced countless sufferings and needs as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 41:12 he described up to this time we suffer hunger thirst and nakedness we are slapped and have no fixed toess we labor working with our own hands we are reviled and we bless we are persecuted
and endure hardship they were not the only adversities that the Apostle Paul faced in 2 Corinthians 1279 he describes and so that I would not be puffed up with the greatness of the Revelations a thorn in the flesh was imposed on me a messenger of Satan to Buffet me so that I don't exalt myself because of this I asked the Lord three times to take it away from me and he said unto me my grace is sufficient for thee for power is made perfect in weakness therefore I will most gladly boast in my weaknesses so
that the power of Christ May rest upon me It is believed that this Thorn In the Flesh of the Apostle Paul may have been a physical Affliction possibly an illness affecting his eyes in an excerpt from the letter to the Galatians Paul mentions this personal illness that was linked to him the biblical text says the following but you know that because of physical infirmity I preach the gospel to you the first time as for the deep love that the brothers in the galatian congregation felt for the Apostle Paul the biblical text portrays that if it
were possible they would have gone to the extreme of sacrificing their own eyes in solidarity with him they demonstrated a genuine desire to share in his tribulations and to assist him in every way possible even with all these difficulties faced Paul persisted in his mission and carried out three significant Evangelistic Journeys covering the regions of Asia Minor Macedonia and Greece near the end of the Apostle Paul's period of ministry a prediction emerged regarding the events that would mark his final moments this account is recorded in the book of Acts 2110 to13 on that occasion agabus
a prophet from Judea sought out Paul in a symbolic way agabus wrapped a belt around Paul's waist and using his own hands and feet then transmitted the prophetic message as follows and while we were staying there for many days a prophet named agabus arrived from Judea and coming to us he took Paul's girdle and bound his own hands and feet and said this is what the holy spirit says so the Jews in Jerusalem will bind the man whose girdle it is and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles and when we heard this
we begged him both we and those of that place not to go up to Jerusalem but Paul answered what are you doing crying and breaking my heart I am ready not only to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus after these events the Apostle Paul headed to Jerusalem where he ended up being Det ained by the commander lissus this official sent him to caesaria to appear before the Roman Governor Felix given that Paul had Roman citizenship they decided to transport him with a strict escort to Rome where
he would be Tried by Nero's courts however all of this was in accordance with the divine plan as Paul took the gospel to Nero's own Palace where he found people receptive to the message this set of events was in line with God's purpose for Paul's Life as we see in the book of Philippians 4:22 where it is recorded all the saints send you greetings especially those who are of the House of Caesar during this period the supreme leader of Rome was known as Caesar the Apostle Paul was in Rome living under house arrest staying in
a rented house as reported in the book of Acts 2 830 after 2 years in this condition Paul was released as the Empire's courts found no solid evidence to support the charges against him he resumed his role as Minister and remained dedicated to his service in the year 64 after Christ an extensive fire occurred in Rome at that time Emperor Nero blamed the followers of Christianity thus triggering intense persecution against this community during this period the Apostle Paul is alleged to have been detained again although there is also an alternative version that suggests that Paul
faced accusations of hypocrisy regarding his Christian faith regardless of the setting he returned to the city of Rome and from there wrote some of his most moving letters one of these correspondences is the second letter sent to Timothy in this writing Paul expresses is his desire to endure afflictions due to his faith in Christ and is ready to sacrifice his own life for the mission of the church alongside Timothy his faithful companion he faced the final months of his journey in situations of incarceration or detention sustaining himself solely on the supernatural hope that strengthened him
even amidst the feeling of helplessness on the part of others he faced the circumstances with unshakable faith such details are intensely expressed in the second letter addressed to Timothy present in chapter 4 at the end of this section the Apostle Paul recorded an emotional farewell which has served as a source of inspiration for countless followers of Christianity he shared the following words for I am already being offered as a sprinkling of sacrifice and the time of my departure is at hand I have fought the good fight I have finished my course I have kept the
faith now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord will give me an upright judge on that day and not only to me but also to all who love his coming these words Mark the last record written by the Apostle Paul before facing his death sentence according to the customs of the the time and his status as a Roman citizen he received the death sentence historians believe that his death occurred around the year 67 ad through decapitation with a sword although it was a tragic outcome for a man so devoted
to God Paul deeply understood the fleeting nature of this world as he himself expressed in 2 Corinthians 4:17 to8 for our momentary light Affliction produces for us an eternal weight of Glory far beyond comparison while we look not at the things that are seen But at the things that are unseen for the things that are seen are temporal but the things that are unseen are Eternal Paul had a deep understanding of the beauty of the Heavenly Paradise although his death was a time of sadness he left with the unshakable conviction that eternal glory awaited him
