[Applause] you see this guy right here this is kayin Walker from the University of Iowa and he is about to do something that could change his entire life [Applause] kayin Walker just dropped one of the most impressive sprinting performances and one of the most interesting atmospheres during a college football game what he just did in the 40- yard dash is nothing short of historic because he just ran a time of 4. 15 seconds a crazy quick time that is actually faster than any other NFL athlete to ever run this distance in history now to track fans this 40R distance might be a little unfamiliar to you but if you're an American football fan you'll know that even the best of the best have never achieved this kind of speed at 4. 15 kin just dismantled the greatest grid iron sprinters to ever lace up including the likes of John Ross Tyreek Hill and the new 40-yard record holder from the combine Xavier worthy this was a true power sprinting moment from this 23-year-old athlete and every angle available here makes him look like one of the greatest starters in track history but how exactly did he achieve this time was it the adrenaline gain from 70,000 people in the Iowa stadium was it the surface that he ran on could it be his spikes or was it just incredible Fitness that made him such a standout in this 40- yard distance well mostly it boils down to Walker being one of the greatest starters in all of track earlier this season we covered kin's running a few times and it was honestly amazing to see how quick he gets out of the blocks during this year's indoor season on February 9th he achieved a clocking of 6.
51 seconds at the Jarvis Scott open in LC Texas a time that put him as one of the top starters in the NC OFA and then on February 23d he again achieved a time of 6. 51 winning this year's Big 10 indoor Champs by a huge margin it's always fun to see track athletes jump into events that other sports typically focus on and this 40-yard time has left many convinced that track speed is in fact just different from football speed one of the most common comparisons in the sporting world is in fact looking at professional sprinters and track and comparing them with NFL Runners this kind of thing happens year after year and it honestly happens a few key times during big events such as the combine typically the distances they're focused on are the 40 yard dash the 60 M Dash and of course the classic sprinting distance the 100 m we have seen these compar for years but they've really taken off over the past couple of Seasons with athletes such as Tyreek Hill and Usain Bolt we've seen it happen with Xavier worthy who recently ran the fastest 40-yard dash of all time in the NFL combine at 4. 21 and we also have the new developing story that Noah ly the 2024 Olympic champion in the 100 meters might be set to compete against Tyreek Hill in the 2025 season over the 60m dash as well now I do want to point out that NFL players are fast in fact their speed is even more impressive when you consider that they're running with full pads during most of their sprinting but does this sprinting time from kin Walker truly confirm the track speed is just a higher Echelon of running abilities than what NFL players can achieve well basically yes that's what I'm saying back in 2017 John Ross ran a 4.
22 40 yard dash at the NFL combine which was a previous record time that caught the attention of many eyeballs around the world 4. 22 is fast and this quick clocking certainly bolstered ross' confidence as he stated that he could in fact take down the Olympic champion Usain Bolt this was the 1 millionth installment of taking a shot at bolt while certainly not being able to do so but in response to this call out we saw something very interesting go down as Christian Coleman one of the greatest starters of all time and a very successful NCAA athlete decided to jump into a 40-yard dash to truly see what track sprinters could achieve and well he ran a 4. 12 smashing Ross's time and he did it on his first try this 4.
12 is the only recorded clocking in history that is actually faster than kin Walkers and while Bo Jackson did say he ran a 4. 13 there was never a confirmed timing electronically or even hand Ed that shows that this actually happened but believe what you want because Bo Jackson was certainly an amazing athlete either way to have your name so close to Christian Coleman's and pretty much anything when it comes to sprinting is certainly an amazing achievement but the real question many are asking is was this 40 yard dash actually a legitimate time and can we say that kin Walker just made history over this 40 yard distance for starters we need to look at the electronic equipment on the field for this record because in order for us to truly know that this 40 was legitimate it does need to have electronic timing it's as simple as that I actually reached out to K and asked him about this clocking and he told me that they were using a Brower Timing device which tracks the exact moment when an athlete crosses the initial plane and it tracks his time all the way to the Finish where it electronically stops to the 100th of a second unlike track the 40R Dash does not have a starting gun so there's no reaction time to add to their overall performance so for kalin's time here this does appear to be a fully electronic performance from beginning all the way to the end and I'm not saying that this was a 100% perfect clock blocking with zero scrutiny required to say this was legitimate however this does add to the reality that kin is just that fast when it comes to his opening 30 or 40 m kin is honestly one of the best in the world and we have seen his abilities in various NCW races against Great talents and this race here back in February really puts into perspective how quick he gets out of the blocks one of my favorite parts of any big sprinting Moment Like This is the reaction that is gained on social media and this comment section here is just loaded with interesting takes some are actually calling for Kayla to jump into American football to Showcase his speed some are calling this performance bogus because he was running in track spikes others are even claiming that Tyreek Hill would have no chance against almost any NCAA Sprinter in the 60m dash right now because this race here shows the track speed is genuinely different from football speed I would highly recommend you check out this comment section here and also make sure to check out kin's YouTube channel as well which has a much deeper breakdown of this 40-yard dash and it also goes through his full experience leading up to this time and his postrace reaction this was yet another day when track speed is in fact proven to be superior to any other sport in the world and with this in mind I would love to hear your thoughts on this performance in the comment section down below do you see kin is one of the greatest 40 yard sprinters to ever lace up do you see him as a threat to break the NCAA record in the 60 which stands at 6.
