last six years of my life every recruiter HR career expert I spoke to all of them agreed to the six biggest career mistakes that every fresher makes and regret massively about it later so you finally graduated now what you think just getting a degree or having a few skills is enough to land you a job no listen to me very carefully because every fresher is going to make these biggest career mistakes which is eventually going to lead you to lower job satisfaction lower salaries and more most importantly Wasted Years of your life but don't worry
today your fresher coach Us in this episode of fresher GPD is going to disclose those six biggest career traps that every fresher falls into and which trust me no one is going to tell you about and I'll also tell you the ways how you can avoid these traps and the last mistake is something which can ruin almost 80% of your career so stay with me till the end trap number one starting off their career with any random job just out of desperation see I understand the job market in India is very tough and very competitive
right now so out of desperation freshers mostly accept the first offer or any random offer that comes in their way just to start of their career but that is a trap and the result they are mostly stuck in low paying jobs there's no career progression and mostly 2 to three years down the line they just realize that the work or the job that they have been doing till now is not even close to their long-term career goal or at least what they wanted to do and that ruins your career growth now how you can fix
this always apply your jobs with a strategy and don't just go for a job portal spam build a career road map research what are all the fields that you want to grow in ask yourself these three questions before accepting any job offer does this job align with my long-term career goals will I learn and grow in this role can I see myself in this industry for the next 5 years or not prioritize a job's learning potential and not just the salary for example if you're interested in marketing then try doing internships in that particular domain
develop skills in that domain itself and don't just go for a random job like sales or BPO just to start off your career and don't just keep on applying to 100 plus jobs on noer LinkedIn Etc thinking that more applications is equal to more jobs trust me that is a myth and that is the biggest career mistake apply for only those jobs that match with your skills and referrals is a game changer 80% of the jobs are filled through referrals so start networking and take your LinkedIn optimization very seriously trap number two not learning the
industry specific skills so you have the degree but can you actually do the work if you think that having a bcom BBA btech or MBA degree is going to help you learn a job then let me give you the reality check 80% of graduates in India are unemployed today even after having a degree because they La the real the relevant industry specific skills see that time is gone when degree was equal to to job because today degree plus skills is equal to a job degree alone is not enough now how to fix this find out
top five skills that are needed in your industry and start working on them you can always take free or paid courses on corsera udmi Google Google garage and the next thing you can do is work on any small projects or internships or any side hustles that you can work on just to build your experience right from your college days for example a bcom graduate should learn Excel Financial modeling and data analysis a btech graduate should Master coding cloud computing and cyber security let me know in the comments what industry do you want to work in
and I'll tell you what skills do you need trap number three focusing just on your hard skills and ignoring soft skills like communication so freshers mostly think that just knowing coding marketing or Finance is enough for you to land a job and this is a question which I have been receiving in most of my comments that even if I'm skilled and even if I have the proper skills for the industry then why am I getting rejected is soft skills or is communication that important my answer to it would be yes your soft skills hold equal
weightage as your hard skills understand like this that a company will always hire that candidate which can communicate their value and their skills nicely and confidently even if they are less skilled than you so how to fix this work on your soft skills like communication the most important and your problem solving skills that will automatically boost your confidence and if you are weak in English focus more on your nonverbal communication like your hand gestures your postures make sure that you maintain eye contact don't slouch keep smiling while giving your answers take pauses in between and
you can even ask them to repeat the questions if you didn't get what they said in the first place and by the way if you want all the tips on how to crack an interview without having much fluency in English then don't forget to check this video of mine as it contains all the pointers and all the tips that you need to follow to track your next interview and things you can do before going to an interview is watch 15 minutes daily of English interview videos and practice giving answers either in front of a mirror
or in front of a friend for example if the interviewer asks you that why should be hire you don't just give a random or vague answer like I'm hardworking and I need this job so you should hire me rather tell them about your experience tell them about your skills and also tell how those skills will help the company to grow in future you can go through mock interviews take help of ch gbt to refine your answers and also start working on your networking to make yourself stand out in front of all the recruiters mistake number
four falling into the offer letter trap so all the recruiters HRS carer experts have the same thing to say freshers never know what they are signing up for out of desperation they all say yes too fast and the companies never tell you the hidden traps in your offer letter see out of excitement all the freshers very blindly accept their first offer letter but they never realize that this one wrong decision this one wrong move can make the start of their career a nightmare and I've seen hundreds of candidates hundreds of freshers every day falling into
these offer letter scams now how to fix this read your offer letter 10 times don't just sign investigate ask questions to the HR go through the company's website check their reviews connect with company's current and ex employees ask for the salary breakdown confirm your job roles and responsibilities check if there's any overtime policy check if there's any bond agreement and if something feels off negotiate with the HR then and there or just walk away mistake number five having high salary expectations from your first job trust me it's unrealistic so if you're a fresher expecting almost
50,000 in your first job let me give you a reality check companies don't hire on the basis of your potential they hire on the basis of your skills your experience and your ability to bring value to the company from day one see the only fix to this is that you need to see your first job as a learning opportunity and not as a paycheck you need to focus on your networking and your skill building start your freelancing journey or a side hustle during your college days you can start with content writing graphic designing video editing
um any marketing job if you think that your friend has a page or any brand that they need help to grow on social media take that project and help them because that will help you to uh gain some experience and can also help you in making some bugs during your college days upskill yourself in high demand areas like data analytics AI digital marketing trust me these fields are going to Boom this year and they have a very high salary growth see understand the market realities almost every fresher starts with a 10K 15K or 20K job
but with the Right Moves with right upskilling their salaries can grow up to 10x within the next 3 or four years of their career now I can give you some examples as well for digital marketing a fresher can start around 15 to 20K per month but after running campaigns and gaining expertise the salary can reach up to 50K plus within 1.5 to 2 years for a software developer a fresher with basic coding can earn up to 20K or even 25k as well but after mastering full stack development they can jop to 60 to 70k in
the next 3 to 4 years and for sales and business development many freshers start at 18K to 25k but top performers in startups or in companies can hit up to 60k plus within 2 to 3 years so the bottom line here is instead of Chasing After High salaries from the day one focus on making yourself valuable for all the companies the more skills and results you will bring to the table the faster the salary or the money will follow you and now we come to the last St the most crucial one or we can say
the game changer one not building your personal brand from day one and this is the biggest mistake that all freshers make see when you are going through interviews when you're putting yourself up for hiring you're basically selling yourself and if you're selling yourself wrong obviously no one is going to buy you because company just don't hire people they hire brands people with strong LinkedIn presence with amazing networking skills with strong GitHub projects and also online portfolios have 5x more chances of getting better job offers than the ones who don't have now how you can fix
this work on your LinkedIn presence post about any learnings any projects that you have undertaken and also in any industry insights that you have received secondly work on your portfolio or any website so if you are into design coding or writing create an online portfolio and thirdly what you can do is keep taking any side projects that come in your way and start showcasing them online see a fresher with a strong LinkedIn profile and a great social media experience will always always get hired over someone who just has a degree so take hold of your
career today and let me know in the comments if you have any career trap to share with your fellow freshers so that we can all learn from it and make sure that no one else follows that path and if you guys like this video do put a thumbs up on it and don't forget to subscribe to my channel and keep sharing it to your friends to your fellow freshers any colleagues that you feel might benefit from this Channel and it will motivate me to come up with more content for all you guys till then then
