as well to begin with let me tell you about the benefits of these programs the first benefit is that you'll be getting occupation specific work permits and not employer specific work permits occupation specific work permits will give you more freedom to change your employer whenever necessary or if you get a better job offer this means that you can work for any employer of your choice and you don't have to be stuck to one employer for the entire duration of your work permit another big benefit is that your family members like your spouse and children will
get open work permits and study permits to help them come to canada together with you this was not possible in the past an open work permit will allow your spouse to work for any employer of their choice for any job position that they wish to apply for if you have any children they can come with you to canada as well and finish their studies under the study permit which they'll be getting at the same time as your work permit there's now a clear transition possible from temporary to permanent visa status to ensure that once caregivers
have met the work experience needed they'll be able to become permanent residents quickly family members will also receive their permanent residence status along with them next we come to the requirements eligible candidates will need to get a language score in english or french of at least clb5 they must have a basic education of at least one year of canadian post-secondary education or an eca report that states a foreign equivalent education they need at least two years of work experience as a caregiver at the time that they apply for permanent residence in canada eligible candidates will
also need to have a job offer in canada at the time of application for a work permit to be issued to them now that you know all the requirements let me tell you how these programs actually work if you're applying from outside canada which will be the case for most of you the first step is to submit an application for your permanent residence and an occupation restricted open work permit or an orowp under which you can complete the necessary work experience to apply for a permanent residence when you apply for a work permit you can
apply for a work permit for your spouse as well so that they can fly with you to canada and work as well this will be an open work permit which will allow your spouse to work for any employer of their choice for any job position that they wish to apply for your children can come with you to canada as well on study permits which will be issued at the same time as your work permit after you land in canada the next step is to complete two years of work experience working under the conditions of your
work permit after which you can apply for your permanent residence you'll just have to notify ircc that you've completed 24 months of working in canada and they'll finalize your permanent residence application since you've already started the application when you applied for your work permit after doing so you and your dependent family members like your spouse and children will get your pr together if you're already in canada and you wish to apply from within canada you can use the same two-step process to get the work experience you need or keep working if you're already working as
