how well do you understand your cat our furry friends are curious creatures and a lot of their methods of communication can be pery weird how well can any human really learn to interpret such strange signals as showing you their tummy but then attacking you whenever you try to pet it or dropping dead rats on your doorstep or randomly shoving their butt in your face how can you ever truly figure out what your fur baby is trying to say well in this video we're going to help you understand some of your Kitty's attempts at conversation cats
do a lot of weird things in their attempts to let us know how they're feeling but that doesn't mean that they're impossible to decode here we're going to be looking into six commonly misunderstood cat behaviors but before we dive in why not subscribe and join our feline loving Community for more tips and tricks on how to care for your kitty number one the tummy trap what it looks like what does it mean when your kitty rolls over onto their back and shows you their tummy do they want a belly rub not if you value your
hands cats don't like having their tummies touched as any human who's ever been tempted by that soft fluffy belly or mistaken that exposed tomb for an invitation for more pets could tell you from experience but what does it mean then many people come to the conclusion iuson that it's just their Kitty version of a mean prank maybe they're just deliberately trying to get you to put your hands there so that they have an excuse to attack them what it really means no your fur baby isn't trying to trap you no matter how devious they might
seem our cats aren't actually requesting physical affection at all when they show us their tummies it's important to remember that as a species cats are basically the ultimate introverts while humans even those of us who think of ourselves as introverted are typical extroverts we show affection by touching by giving Compliments by engaging with the other person our fur babies are more subtle they prefer to show affection By ignoring each other and barely touching when your cat shows you their tummy therefore you as an extroverted human might interpret it as a sign that your fur baby
wants to be touched but in fact from your cat's perspective it's their way of showing that they love and trust you enough to assume that you won't touch them especially on such a vulnerable part of their body as their soft underbelly number two I blink I love you what it looks like you're hanging out with your cat when suddenly they lock eyes with you already this is slightly troubling if you have any experience with animals you probably know that we humans are pretty weird in our tendency to assume that eye contact means affection for most
species it's actually a sign of aggression but then not only does your kitty seem to be telling you that they don't really like you but they follow up the insult by slowly closing and opening their eyes like they're trying to tell you that it's not even worth their time to look at you what's going on are you just super boring to them all of a sudden what it really means don't worry your fur baby isn't slowly blinking at you because they're bored and it doesn't mean that they don't like you your kitty isn't locking eyes
with you to show that they're angry with you they're doing it to show that they love you making eye contact and then slowly blinking is a sign of love and Trust from your cat the gesture is also known as a cat kiss or an I love you blink and is basically the feline equivalent of blowing a kiss from across the room if you want to show how how much you love them in return try slowly blinking back number three no time like the presents what it looks like a your cat brought you a gift a
gross gift that you didn't even want but still a gift when your cat tries their paw at giving you a present they tend to be unsuccessful at it from a human point of view at best you'll get toys that you already bought for your cat or objects that your kitty actually stole from you earlier if you're unlucky you'll end up with actual dead animals possibly in pieces and strewn over your floor like your kitty somehow watched an episode of Dexter and came away with some ideas but are these gifts really for you and are they
really gifts what else could they be what it really means your cat's presentence might not be what you'd want but they also might not be presence your cat's intentions when they drop a dead bird in front of you may be less here have this wonderful dead bird my beloved human and more here this is what a proper hunt looks like human stop being lazy in getting all your food from the big metal box in the kitchen and learn how to hunt like me this is also why you might end up getting some slightly less dead
animals from your kitty mama cats will often bring their kittens in injured or dying prey so that they can get some practice at killing in a safe environment your cat has noticed how terrible at hunting you are and is trying to correct the problem sign number four what's yours as mine what it looks like you're trying to do the laundry but your cat keeps sitting on your clothes you're trying to get some work done but your kitty is curled up on your keyboard you can't find a matching pair of socks to save your life and
until you find a ton of them shoved under the couch by the cat basket and you have to wonder how they got there it's a sad fact to face your cat is stealing from you where did you go wrong are they trying to seek out things that you aren't providing them or has something about your cat parenting skills caused them to crave a life of kitty crime how does one end up with a little klepto meow NEC on their hands what it really means your cat is De itely stealing from you but that doesn't mean
that they're trying to be mean they aren't just taking things for the sake of it or even because they've decided that they particularly want to wear your socks or start using your laptop the real reason is that your fur baby wants these things is because they carry your scent cats are very scent oriented creatures and things that you have worn or handle regularly are more likely to have this scent smelling things that smell like you helps your kitty feel safe and secure because it helps them feel closer to you sign number five love is bow
teeth full what it looks like ouch okay there's no way you can be misinterpreting this you don't have to be a genius to figure out what it means when somebody is actively biting you even when they don't draw blood cat bites are painful hurting both your feelings and your fingers why does your cat feel the need to nip at you for no reason do they secretly hate you what it really means although you might assume that biting somebody communicates a pretty clear message you have to remember that cats are much tougher than we are when
you next see your fur babyy playing with another cat watch how much like fighting it looks cats will often bite each other in play and won't hurt each other a bit because they have thick fur to protect them your kitty doesn't really understand that you don't have the same protection and probably doesn't even realize that they're hurting you sign number six from the bottom of my heart what it looks like it looks like your cat is mooning you because that's what they're doing it's annoying and it's rude and you're not quite sure why they insist
on doing it do they think that the joke hasn't gotten old yet or are they just really proud of their butt and want to show it off as much as possible do they really think that you haven't already seen it or is this their very unsettle way of showing that they don't think very much of you what it really means this is one of the weirder ways in which human and Feline body language diverges when a human shows another human their butt outside of a few very specific contexts It generally isn't meant as a gesture
of friendship when a cat shows somebody their rear end however it actually is exactly that cats show that they trust other cats by letting them sniff their butts they have special glands there that release a strong pheromone scent that the other cat can sniff to find out information about them such as their physical health their emotional state or even their relationship status humans can't really gain information from smell like that at least not in that amount of detail but your cat doesn't know this when they Moon you they're not trying to be rude they're just
trying to give you the chance to learn some stuff about them a lot of cat gestures can be hard for humans to read which can be pretty concerning if you're trying to figure out how your feline is feeling how can you tell if your cat is truly happy to live with you if you can't understand it when they're trying to communicate with you well help is at hand check out this video to learn seven signs that your cat is happy to live with you
