Do you know the difference between a nerd and an ordinary person? The average person finishes watching the movie, leaves the theather and goes home in peace. The nerd finishes watching the movie and immediately starts creating theories about the story.
The nerd then goes online, explains this theory, other nerds add on and the thing snowballs. Nerds are all crazy, then? None of that, ok!
I've separated here seven theories from seven films that are insane, they're head-blowing, I know it may sound crazy but you'll see that they make sense! So get ready because it will change your view of several movies! [Shrek – Fiona is a cannibal] Have you ever wondered what Princess Fiona was eating during all those years in captivity?
The dragon wouldn't let anyone into the castle. There was no way to ask for iFood, a grocery store, nothing. The answer is: Fiona was being fed human flesh.
And I was calm about it. The first clue is that the dragon had a cookbook with knights. The second clue, obviously, was the number of knights who entered the castle and did not leave.
It was just the riders, the horses were on the other side of the bridge. Suspect. Furthermore, Fiona transformed into an Ogre and Shrek himself “jokes” at the beginning of the film that he is going to eat everyone.
Shrek even talks about human eye jelly. Was Shrek really messing around or do Ogres eat human flesh? Only Fiona knows the truth and princesses don't tell these things.
. . [Spider-Man 2 – The ending has already been changed] Spider-Man 2, by Tobey Maguire, was released 17 years before Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Even so, many fans believe that the most recent film influenced the film back in the day! Like this? Otto Octavius says that the last memory he had was holding Miranha by the neck.
Then, he is transferred to the MCU. We saw that this trip changed his life. The guy stopped being controlled by the tentacles, changed sides, and became a good scientist again.
And then, he returns to his original universe to fulfill his destiny. It's a fate we know: back then, he regretted his crimes and sacrificed himself to save everyone. We thought this change was just a penny dropping, but now we know that it was the events of No Way Home that affected Doctor Octopus.
[Star Wars – Obi-Wan planned everything] Why didn't Obi-Wan tell Luke Skywalker the truth about Darth Vader? Was it out of pity for the kid? Was it shame?
Let's agree that the truth was complicated: “Luke, I cut off your father's arms and legs and left him to burn in the lava”. Yeah, that would really be complicated to tell the guy. But this theory shows that Obi-Wan was cold and calculating.
His plan would be to make Luke hate Vader and become the one who would destroy the villain. He creates the narrative that Vader killed Anakin Skywalker. He passes Luke the same saber that Anakin used to exact revenge.
Obi-Wan doesn't even want to know if it was that same saber that passed over children in the Jedi Temple. The important thing is to prepare Luke for this mission: to overthrow his own father. After this, Obi-Wan himself sacrifices himself to Vader, to increase Luke's anger.
Nothing came of it, but there was an attempt. [The Mist – Was the sacrifice necessary? ] The ending of the The Mist is one of the saddest things ever done in cinema.
And it’s not even the book’s fault! The ending of Stephen King's original story had none of that. It was director Frank Darabont who decided to destroy people's emotions.
There were minutes left for salvation to appear, but the protagonist sacrifices everyone, including his own son. Heavy. For us, we get the impression that it was a completely unnecessary act.
But. . .
remember Mr. Carmody? The religious fanatic was the great villain in the middle of history.
She felt that a sacrifice was necessary to lift the fog. The crazy woman wanted the protagonist's son. But.
. . was she really crazy?
In the end, a great sacrifice ends up happening and the fog dissipates. But is it a coincidence? [Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – the factory is Hell] Since we kind of got into religious themes, there are a lot of people out there obsessed with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
In this case, here, we are talking about the 1971 film, but you can use this theory in modern adaptations too. This theory explains that the factory is actually Hell. The boat trip through the interior of the facilities would be a representation of the River Styx, the river from beyond life in Greek mythology.
Throughout this journey, each of the prize-winning children encounters a disturbing destiny, based on some type of sin or evil that they have in their hearts. If this theory is correct, then Wonka would be the ruler of everything himself. You know what I'm talking about, right?
My mother in law. No, guys, I'm kidding! Therefore, the protagonist is actually being chosen to be his successor.
[The Descent – the protagonist has gone crazy] The Descent is one of the scariest titles of the 2000s. It's about a group of friends who get lost underground in a cave and encounter bizarre creatures. Interestingly, the film begins with a tragic accident and hallucinations of the protagonist Sarah.
This is the key to everything: according to the theory, there is no creature down there, the protagonist hallucinated all the events. The film shows Sarah seeing things that don't exist at the beginning and seeing things that don't exist at the end. Who guarantees that the medium is real?
If you count, Sarah capsizes five creatures in the caves. There are exactly five friends who are overturned down there. Is it another coincidence?
Or did Sarah freak out during the expedition, after so much trauma in her life? Well, it's theory. [Ferris Bueller's Day Off – Ferris Bueller is not real] And since we are entering the field of hallucinations, let's go because now there is a sinister theory revolving around Ferris Bueller's Day Off: Ferris Bueller is not real, in fact it is all fruit from the imagination of his “friend” Cameron.
Do you know Fight Club? Cameron begins the story depressed, with no desire to live, controlled by his parents. He freaks out and creates an imaginary friend named Ferris Bueller.
Ferris Bueller is everything Cameron would like to be, a cool kid who does whatever he wants. The two live high adventures. In the end, Cameron goes through an evolution.
He relaxes, he even ignores the destruction of his father's Ferrari. In this theory, girlfriend Sloane would actually be someone Cameron has his eye on and someone he pulls along to live this afternoon of madness. Sloane would be deceived by this split personality, like Marla was deceived in Fight Club.
Now tell me stop, did your jaw drop? Do any of these theories perhaps make sense to you? Or maybe they don't?
