when a 9-month-old baby snatched a bone from her dog's mouth her mother became afraid of how the dog would react but what the dog did next shocked her Sophia and her husband didn't know what to do their 9-month-old daughter Haley had just started to crawl and it was a struggle to keep track of her she had become very attached to their dog Cody and it was hard for Sophia to keep the two away from each other but that was the problem as she sat at her desk working Sophia thought about how her family was giving
her a hard time for months now her family had asked her to send Cody away from Haley it didn't matter how well behaved he was now they warned her that Cody's past aggression issues were always going to be there and there is no telling what could happen if the two were ever left completely alone unsupervised yet Sophia and her husband ignored the warnings Cody was the sweetest dog and the way he doed on little Haley it was hard to imagine that he would ever hurt her also Sophia worked from home and never let the two
of them out of her sight as Sophia stood up from her desk she noticed Haley fast asleep on the carpet and Cody lying beside her she took Cody to his spot and gave him his favorite snack a raw bone to snack on for playing with Haley and looking after her as she went to the kitchen to fix herself something to eat hay woke up immediately she noticed the dog she began to crawl towards him and grab the bone out of his mouth Sophie came out of the kitchen just in time to see Cody moving towards
Haley with his mouth open but before she could react Cody jumped at Haley this wasn't how Sophie thought things would go when she first found Cody he came into their lives in a very special way Sophia and her husband were returning home from a road trip when they spotted something unusual Sophia noticed a small puppy at the side of the road it was a German Shepherd it looked lost and malnourished struggling to keep itself alive touched by what she saw Sophia opened the car door and beckoned to the puppy the puppy was hesitant at first
but after 10 minutes of coaxing he ran to the car and jumped on her lap when they got home Sophie immediately took him to the vet and made sure that the puppy got everything he needed she started asking around wanting to know if anyone was looking for a lost puppy her immediate goal was to make sure the puppy was completely healthy and reunited him with his owner whoever that may be months went by and no one came to claim him but Sophia didn't care in such a short time she and her husband had become attached
to the puppy he was adorable with his floppy ears that hadn't stood up yet and his big adorable eyes he brought a lot of joy to their household he was always running around and barely left Sophia alone she named him Cody and officially claimed him as hers when she was sure that Cody had completely recovered Sophia brought the puppy along with her to a family get together she wanted to introduce him to the rest of her family and hoped that they would love him just as much as she did she wasn't sure if Cody had
been around a lot of children before but it didn't take long to realize that she was worrying for nothing Cody was a natural he was very social and got along with the children as if they had known each other forever he even swam with them her parents had a more mature dog and before the end of the visit Cody was already best friends with him her family praised her for what she had done happy that she found such a well-mannered and friendly dog it became clear that this dog was always meant to be a member
of her family she was always meant to find him on the next family get together Sophia came still bringing Cody along with her the children loved having Cody with them and wouldn't let him out of their sight later in the day Sophia decided it was time to give Cody something to eat after all he had been playing all day and the children had already settled down for lunch so why shouldn't he get something too using a Spare Bowl her parents had she brought some snacks and watched as Cody ate excitedly seeing Cody enjoy himself one
one of the other children went closer patting him on the head Sophia was excited to see the children forming a close bond with Cody but her excitement soon turned sour the dog snarled at the child sending the shocked girl crying and running across the room this wasn't the reaction she was expecting it was as if Cody became a different dog she just found out in the worst way possible that he didn't like being touched when he ate and if there hadn't been food in his mouth he would have bitten the girl wanting to calm the
situation down she took Cody home as the girl's angry parents tried to calm her down she got the dog training and helped realizing that he probably had food Trauma from being abandoned and hungry he was still young and there was a lot of time to help him unlearn any aggressive behavior Sophia took small steps and at first she would only talk to the dog when he was eating after a few months she began to feed him from her hand Cody saw that a human feeding him wasn't a bad idea and eventually allowed Sophia to touch
him when he was eating months passed and everything remained the same Cody no longer attacked when someone approached him as he was eating but the damage was already done her family didn't want him around anymore and began pressuring Sophia to return Cody to a shelter she was expecting the arrival of her baby girl to the world and her family was afraid that the addition of someone new could trigger Cody and cause him to act aggressively again but Sophia and her husband were adamant their dog had gone through all the training and it had been months
since he last acted out he was a loving dog and more than anything they wanted their baby girl to form a bond with Cody just as they had as soon as baby Haley was brought home Cody never let her out of his sight he was protective always cuddling her wherever she slept when she started to crawl he watched after her giving a much needed helping hand to Sophia who was working from home he was always on alert ready to carry The Adventurous baby to a safe spot whenever she got too close to Danger Sophie was
happy and praised Cody to her family but they remained insistent warning that one day when she least expected it Cody would act out again as she watched Cody jump at Haley soop IIA immediately felt a bout of regret she should have listened to her family and now something terrible was going to happen to her daughter Sophia moved to Cody and shouted at him to stop but he didn't listen and grabbed Haley's clothes with his teeth then turned around and looked at Sophia he had no intention of hurting her haey didn't show any signs of fear
or hurt in fact she was laughing Sophia stood and watched as he brought the laughing baby over to to her before going back to grab his bone dropping her daughter in her seat Sophia went to Cody and hugged him tight she had let her family's worries get to her even though she knew better Cody was no longer the aggressive puppy she brought home and she wasn't going to doubt that again even if her family did Haley and Cody continued to grow up together as thick as thieves he was her best friend and proved to be
