And are including Italian subtitles with it. Let's move on to the sample study plans. These are coming From me and what I found work best from self study and learning Multiple languages.
Take inspiration from these plans. Try parts of them or all of them out for yourself. Just to experiment with the resources.
Study methods and time Frames that will work for you Best. So as we go through these study plans We are assuming that we are spending one or 2 hours per day. On Italian, assuming you don't want to spend any money on learning Italian and you will not go to a language school and You are strictly self Studying.
We're also assuming you do not have a deadline and you Want to improve the four areas Of speaking Writing, reading and grammar. It is Highly recommended before you go Into these study plans To determine what I call your anchoring essential. So really, what is your why behind learning Italian, really working on that Foundation will help you immensely with effectively planning a realistic study Routine for yourself and your situation.
So with A1, you generally want to start small to beat the overwhelm. I would recommend a max of using Three resources because you are just getting started. We are going to make The session about one Hour and We're going to use the main Resource Plus Active revision of what you learned.
Learning the. Foundations with The beginners Italian Course. Using the EDX.
org Wellesley College course. We'll go through 1 to 2 lessons. For 40 Minutes.
After that we'll review Vocabulary and phrases with quizlet or anki flashcards. Or you Can also use fun Easy learn for about ten Minutes and after that using a beginners podcast. Either do five languages to Work on pronunciation or learn Italian with Lucrezia are great Options to close out your study session.
For A2 You want to build on your foundations to make more complete sentences. . .
And you can talk about Everyday Situations with basic vocabulary. That is our goal for a2. Sample study plan includes up to One hour we are going to Expand into max five Resources for this level.
Your main resource that would include revision. Of all skills except speaking would be the beginner's Italian course on EDX. Org for about 35 minutes.
After that I would recommend writing one time per week. Writing a summary. Using vocabulary you Learned in your beginners course for about 15 to 20 minutes, after That we would Review vocabulary through quizlet or anki or fun easy learn for 5 to 10 minutes depending on how long You were writing for.
Bonus is to find A language partner and Have them check and Correct your writing for themselves, reading the corrected version. And also has another tip. I would advise you to dive into your music at this stage.
For B1 We are aiming more for The more complex usage and Some immersion Can be Introduced. And you'll understand the main ideas of work, study and Leisure. Related topics.
And you can also cope with Italian while traveling. Now I do recommend a max of six Resources at this stage. Reevaluate also What resources are working for you and what resources You need to Change.
. . for this session For B1 I'd Recommend one Hour up to an hour and 40 minutes.
. . you would use your main resource, including the revision of all Skills, excluding speaking, with the Intermediate Italian Course from EDX for about 35 minutes.
You would then write summaries of what was learned in your course for 10 minutes, have your tandem correct you or submit your writing on Italki for correction. You would include Extra listening to a more authentic unscripted speech with easy languages Italian, which would be about 15 minutes. And then as a bonus, you could experiment with a mini immersion on one weekend finding One of your favorite movies you already Know the plot of and watch it dubbed.
And then I would recommend speaking with a tandem partner. 1 to 2 times a week. For at Least 20 minutes.
Now, B2 Is where full immersion is Introduced. We evaluate what resources You like and do away With resources that haven't worked for you or you don't Like. Keep between 6 to 12 resources.
You might also find that you get A little bit more bored at The stage, sticking with the same resource because you understand a lot more and you can process the Language Faster now that You have all the fundamentals Down from a1 to B1 levels. I would recommend around an hour and 30 minutes for b2 for a study session. Your main resources, including grammar, would be at the Advanced.
Course from EDX. If you find you did finish it, but you still need Revision from the intermediate stage And fill in gaps of knowledge. .
. Don't be Afraid to Switch between the intermediate and advanced Course At this stage. That'll take around 30 minutes.
Expand into More diverse resources And topics, challenging yourself to listen. Even though you may Not understand every Single thing, make note of what impedes your comprehension and look up. unknown words.
If they are preventing you from inferring what Is being talked about. And then you would continue listening to your favorite music. Or picking out some different TV Shows that you like.
For more passive immersion for about another 30 minutes. Bonus. Speaking as much as possible should Be your goal here one time per week.
Or you can try two times per week for 30 minutes each. C1 and C2 Are very flexible Personalized levels. I would recommend, you know, all of the concepts.
From the advanced course listed on EDX. org. You'll go the pure immersion Route, get comfortable with expressing some of the same ideas, but in different advanced ways.
Also, you'll purposely Start looking up Specialized terms and fields that matter To you. For example, a professional dancer would need to know not only terms Related to the studio, but also terms related to auditions and contracts, among others, that people outside of this niche wouldn't Really be familiar with or be using in their day to day life. For C2.
Of course, that involves complete immersion, very, very niche Topics, nuances of Vocabulary, expressions, and really understanding The cultural context behind those Expressions, reading and writing. This is all Very academic At this level. I do advise to work with a native speaker, tutor, or your tandem partner on writing, especially hiring a native speaker at these high levels will have you Go further generally than just working by yourself at this Point.
