your craziest tank story? >> Okay. >> Eddie, how do you actually buy a tank? >> Um I I honestly do not know. It just kind of fell into my brain vicinity of a wanted tank. And then you go on the internet, and you just find people that have tanks and are willing to sell tanks. And I I had to bought that one off an old bloke, probably late '70s, early '80s, up in Scunthorpe. And it It was in a local paper up in Scunthorpe, and and my my my my PA just just happened to find

this article of a tank for sale, and I rung him up. It was like a 6-month-old article. Is it still for sale? Yeah, it's still for sale. Went up, looked, paid a deposit, and then done. Bought a tank off an old man. >> So, there's no like car dealer that deals in tanks? >> I think there are There are a few dealers, yeah. So, I bought another tank, the one at the front of the >> arms dealers. >> Yeah, arms [laughter] dealers, yeah. Gen- Generally are, yeah. You buy a tank off arms dealers. So, that

that tank I bought off an arms dealer. >> Right. >> Um with the the cannons decommissioned. >> Yeah. But yeah but >> they're real cannons though. Real yeah that one's been manufactured but that's a proper like that I could get the the breach for that and that would fire how it's a shell that's that's still an active tank. No problem. And why two tanks why not just one tank? I mean one one tank is just a bit boring isn't it? You know what I mean? You get one tank for like Is one your daily tank?

Yeah well weekend that's about right yeah one's like a daily you're picking someone up from school and that one's like I don't know you know if I want to go to fancy ball or something I'll go in that one. So you you've taken people to prom in that tank. Yeah yeah >> [laughter] >> is it road registered? Yeah they both are yeah. >> [snorts] [laughter] >> Yeah MOT exempt it's a classical vehicle. No tax no MOT ULEZ exempt. That's good. You you've driven it through London I took it through London a few months back yeah

it was good fun. Why? Just for that that's a simple reason why you you left her with it. Yeah well that would have been nice. Well I know yeah. No he still wants it. we stopped on Trafalgar Square actually on The roundabout we were just lamping it up curbs stopping we stopped on right outside Big Ben and we stopped on Westminster Bridge and we took like cuz of cuz of the size of it there were like signs like turn left only and I had to turn right just cuz of the you know the tightness of the tank. So I must have broke I don't know like a thousand rules that day and I waited two months three months nothing ever came through not a single fine no ULEZ no stop

on double reds no nothing. Were you were you disappointed? >> Genuinely was disappointed cuz I was like there's got to be something. I was going to put it on my social media but [ __ ] all. >> Mhm. >> So, like running costs, insurance, maintenance, purchase prices, like how much was that one to buy? >> Um you'll be shocked actually. I paid 66,000 pounds for that one. >> I don't think you have a car that cheap. >> I wouldn't know where to price a tank either. >> [laughter] >> I mean with a classic car for

instance >> You would be charged. How does it work? >> With a classic car it goes to like um you know where it's been, what it's done, has it raced? Like in this one, you know, has it killed anybody? [laughter] Has it Has it Has it been to Iraq? You know, has it Shot someone? You know, does that add to the value or >> I guess so. I don't know. Um I bought I bought that one for 35, right? >> That was 35 grand. >> That was 35 and we're talking some years ago. I bought

that for 66 and that was some years ago as well. And then the war kicked off, right? So, the war in Ukraine kicked off and all the tanks in the UK, all the spare parts, all the Spare tanks got shipped off to Ukraine. >> I know where this is going. Yours went up in value, did they? >> Mate, try and find one of them now for less than 150 grand. And try and find one of them for less than 120. It's literally >> They're just [ __ ] rocketed, right? And the good thing is now

is is they reckon or this was some years ago, they Reckon there was 90 road legal tanks in the world, right? And they've never allowed any more tanks on the road now because I think they've come to wise of should not be done. So, let's say that's probably dwindled down to say 70 this last few years. As it dwindles down to like 20, the value of that just is astro astronomical. I I reckon honestly think if I held onto that for another 20, 30 years, that's a 2 million pound tank sitting there. All day long.

Because where where where where else are you going to buy a tank that you can drive on the road? It's never going to happen again. >> Not even Ferraris are doing those numbers percentage-wise. >> Well, no, you know, this just shows there's there's there's there's money in everything. There's >> You You need to start selling tanks. >> I want to get get my get my hands on some tanks, man. >> [laughter] >> You should do. >> I've got a customer of mine actually um lives over near Coventry and um he's got uh he's got a

couple of ta- I don't know what they are, what they're not. Couple of tanks, but he's got like an uh like a decommissioned Apache helicopter >> Oh, [ __ ] yeah. >> in his garden. And like >> You've got space for that here. >> This thing's This thing's amazing. >> Don't tempt me. [ __ ] me. >> And I'll tell you what >> It's the only thing that's missing. [laughter] >> What he's got with it, obviously they removed the engine, but he then bought the engine and made it a a running engine and he's he's

got it in A big glass box like it in his garage that he can plug it in >> Huh. >> and or plug it in or whatever he does with it that it by electric and it it shows how the motors work and how the pistons work and how it runs and how it starts and stuff. It's It's It's a super super cool. I mean, how he had the idea for it, I don't know, but he just he just loves that kind of thing. Yeah. You Never grow up really, do you? >> No, you don't.

You really don't. No, if you've got if you've got a passion when you're a kid, if you're a 5-year-old kid or 10-year-old kid and you see a Ferrari going down the road and you're like, "I want a Ferrari." That will never leave your head space, ever. >> And every kid gets brought up playing with tanks and trucks and lorries and >> Yes, yeah. >> you know, toys? >> yeah. >> Yeah, the big the the yellow >> Mhm. >> the you know, >> You always have a You always have a passion for them, don't you? I've tried getting in a Lamborghini, no chance. >> No, they're they're small footwells, aren't >> [ __ ] me, they are small. [snorts] What does it cost to insure a tank? >>

Ha. So, originally, so I bought that one and the insurance was 450 quid for the year. Right? >> [laughter] >> And then and then I bought that one and the insurance is probably 800 cuz it's Double the size. >> Is that cuz no one's going to be able to nick them? Or you Or cuz they're not out I don't know what the criteria is, but >> I I don't quite know myself. But then I got a phone call from the insurance basically saying, "We've seen you run over a car in the tank and we're going

to double your insurance because that's a I don't know like an increase of risk or Whatever." So, it doubled. So, it went from 1,000 to say 1,500. >> But that was your fault. >> That was my fault, yeah. Yeah, because >> But it was worth doing. >> It was worth it. It was definitely >> made more on the videos just on the >> Uh just a tad bit more, yeah. Just a tad bit more. >> Yeah, just yeah. And then what about maintenance? Do they need a yearly service? >> Yeah, they're pretty they're pretty harsh

with maintenance. So, um at virtually every other time after you use it, I've got the hood open, check the oil levels and the gearbox levels and if there's anything like things snap and break all the time and luckily I'm quite handy. I used to be a mechanic, so I kept all my tools. I've got welders, I've got, you know, every single spanner and screwdriver you can think of in the garage. Um so, I'm quite handy with that, you know, if something's fan belt broke snaps or whatever, I can just get the tools and put it

on myself. And the thing is with them vehicles if if something big goes like uh like the gearbox or the engine, you're you're pretty [ __ ] cuz there's not many engines laying around that'll fit that vehicle, you know? That's I think that's the one of the only diesel engines Rolls-Royce ever did. >> Oh, wow. >> So, so 7 >> It's got Rolls-Royce engines. >> 7 L Rolls-Royce engine, yeah. Diesel. >> [laughter] >> So, if that >> Unbelievable. >> So, if that Yeah, so imagine if like you get an early cut and it just [

__ ] runs out of oil, burns out, blows up. >> I'm [ __ ] >> Like, what do I do? I'd have to spend Some serious money like converting the engine and putting like a I don't know, put a Cummins engine in it or something. >> And like you just said, all the parts, they're all scarce now and the you know, you can't you can't get the parts. >> I managed to source So, I've got I've got I put a new set of pads on it. And the pads last about 700 mi. And then I've

got two new sets of pads. So, I've got 2,100 mi worth of pads. But once they're gone, They're gone. And you can't drive it on the road without rubber pads. So, I sort of like future-proofed it a bit, you know? I bought spare wheels, spare tracks, spare pads. But you know, eventually it will will break down and and and be irreparable. I probably do about I'd say if I'm lucky, if you're lucky, probably 30-40 mi a year. >> Yeah. >> And the tank, you know what I mean? So, very >> You've got plenty of plenty

of time. >> Yeah. Yeah, so there's like a good I mean, jeez, if you add that up, it's a lot of a lot of years usage and over 100 years usage out of that if it lasts that long. >> And how fast do they go? >> That one 30 mph. >> Yeah. >> That one I've had tracked at 48 mph. Yeah, it's [ __ ] fast. >> [ __ ] hell. >> You can I've got a pilot who put a turbo on one, put an extra gear in it, and it can do 70 mph. >>

You don't even need a cannon, you just go running over people. >> you me, that is [ __ ] scary when you're driving that at 70. and legs Are hanging out the windows like, but it's Yeah, I can drive it and it's electric as well. I went for electric version. So, I can drive that into shops and take the piss and yeah, it's good fun. It's good fun. >> And then you've got the beast um truck? >> Yeah, so that's a new addition. Uh the Dodge Ram 3500. Uh it's a year old now. >> So big. >> Yeah. >> I mean, it's I've never seen a bigger car in my life. >> Yeah, it is. It is. That's the biggest truck you

can get in America. Um >> Did you have to get it imported here? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And then I've made it bigger. So, I've made it like another 2 ft 3 ft higher. Made it another 2 ft wider. You know what I mean? I've just >> It's got 24-in wheels on it and they don't look that big. >> Yeah, 24-in rims. And then so, the 40-in tires, they're the same as what you get on the Arctic. So, it's got the same size tires as what you see on you know, the unit and trailers

going down the motorways. It's 550 horsepower, 7-L Cummins engine. It's got all the air suspension, so you can like drop it on the tires, you can raise it up. It's got every extra and add-on you can think of. Um and then I've got in the back of the bed of what like a a gooseneck. So, I'm just trying to source a trailer now. So, I can tow that tank with it. >> And how heavy is the tank? >> That's about about 16 ton unladen. >> 16 ton? >> Yeah. >> You'd need the Dodge and motor

tow it. >> Yeah, yeah. So, that >> That could tow That could tow >> That's a 5 and 1/2 ton vehicle. So, that can tow that. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> So, I'm just trying to find a trailer that's capable of doing it. >> Probably my Defenders wouldn't cope very well, would they? My Defenders can barely tow a car. They keep blowing up and breaking down and engine keeps going and all Land Rover keeps saying is, "Well, you know, they've got a hard life." I'm like, "Why?" >> Yeah. >> "Well, you do too much towing."

It's what it's for. It's why I bought it. Yeah. I bought it to tow, otherwise why do I want I want a Defender? So, I'm going to buy a Dodge next by the sound of things. >> They're They're the daddy, man. They are the daddy. >> How much are they? >> Um, I mean brand new, like 160 grand. Something like that. deadlift that. >> Yeah. So, yeah. I'm just built in the process of house for him now. Like a little tropical enclosure with sand and like a little miniature wave beach and waterfalls and yeah, so I'm just trying to trying to replicate Mauritius so they can proper thrive and grow big and be healthy. >> You got any sports cars or you is that never been a thing for you? >> Yeah, no, The Ford Mustang, the 5 liter. >> Oh, yeah. >> I've got one of them. >> Yeah. >> They're good fun as well. >> Yeah. >>

My my diet when I was world's strongest man, Jesus Christ. I was easily spending about 300 pounds a week on food just for myself. And >> And this was nearly 10 years ago. >> is 10 years ago when food was half of what it cost. Um So, yeah, I think like the That diet that 12,000 calories a

day diet is is one of the most extreme things and one of the most expensive things I've ever done. And that took it out to come out of my own pocket, you know, people don't quite realize that. I you know, I ran all my all my income came through businesses and you know, prize money went into a business. But the the the law is that you can't pay for food for your business. So, I Had to pay for that for my own pocket. And you I mean, what's that over a year? That's like 12, 15

grand, you know? And when you're only earning sort of 50 grand a year on paper, it's it's a it's a tough thing to [ __ ] do. >> And you know, did you have the same meals every day? >> Pretty much, yeah. >> I suppose You you run out of things to eat, don't >> I'm going to say people think the strongman diet's like amazing. Oh, that sounds great. You eat what you want all the time. But when you've had a full English like a full English breakfast and when I say full English, I mean

like quadruple, you know, so you have like four bacon, four sausage, four black pudding, four hash browns, four fried bread, four portions of beans, four portions of tomatoes. Just [ __ ] it's such a huge plate of food. And when you've done that every single day for four years in a row, it's You know, people look forward to full English breakfast. For me, it was a [ __ ] job. It was a chore. >> Mhm. >> Lunch would be half a kilo of meat. So, like, whatever that be steak, chicken, or whatever. A kilo of

carbs. So, like, pastas, rice. A quarter of kilo of vegetables, Carrots, whatever. And then I'd [snorts] always have half a family cheesecake for dessert with double cream, right? And again, it sounds great, doesn't it? You'll put a smile on your face then. >> Yeah. I haven't had that. I haven't had that for like 3 years. >> you go. Do that every day, twice a day. Cuz I do that for my lunch and I do that for my dinner. >> Yeah, sick of looking at it. >> It It was [ __ ] horrible. >> Yeah. >>

Horrible. And then all the >> So, you're eating a cheesecake a day. >> Oh, yeah. Two A family cheesecake a day. Drink-wise, I was drinking like 6 L of cranberry juice a day. Lit- like 3 or 4 L of full-fat milk, like the the gold-top milk. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> Coconut water. Probably consuming about 12 L in total, If not more of fluid. >> to your insides? >> I was just [ __ ] constantly [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> Constantly. Yeah, I'd have a good six shits a day. >> That's a lot. That's

a lot of shits. >> But, the amount of food I was eating, I was eating six times the amount of food you normally eat. >> [laughter] >> Cuz you're just You're taking in the six Times the calories that someone should. >> Exactly, yeah. But, [ __ ] out >> Yeah. Do you Do you have your own toilet You must have your own toilet in the house then. >> Yeah, I've got my own throne. >> Yeah, yeah. >> [laughter] >> It can get pretty bad sometimes, though. But, not so much these days, you know. It's all

right these days. But, yeah, strong man days, [ __ ] me. I'd Yeah, you don't want to be You don't want to be around me when I about ours. >> But, that's that If a doctor would come and take your bloods, which I'm sure they did, um, you know, >> [snorts] >> mid camp. >> Mhm. >> Your cholesterol and everything must have been just off the off the charts. >> was, yeah. It was stupid. The only thing That was good with me, and this is what I think my saving grace was. I think it's from

the swimming days. Is my blood pressure was never high. So, even at like 200 kg, my blood pressure was like 140 over 70. That was like the highest it ever went. And that And that's just a good indicator of how strong my heart was. And that's from the swimming days. Cuz the swimming is is one of the only sports that Trains the heart to its highest level. Cuz you hold your breath when you when you train, right? And that does create such extra pressures in the valves and it stresses them and makes them stronger and

bigger and >> [snorts] >> I I I put it down to my swimming days as to why I I held up as being so big for so long. >> And how long how long were you 33 stone for? >> Not very long. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, I'd say a year. I was I got to like 430 lbs. I'd say 12 months. And then And if I'm being honest, you probably hovered around the four 400 410 and then you'd sort of like, right. >> Ramp it up. >> Ramp it up, yeah. And then the ramp it

up would be And people never believe this. Uh ramp It up would be uh drinking 10 L of Lucozade still Lucozade. >> Just the sugar. >> Just pure sugar and and and and the electrolytes would hold the water. So I could easily put 20 lbs on in one day. >> Yeah. >> And people don't believe that. But I could like be 410 one day, have a contest on the Saturday, I'd drink 20 L of still Lucozade on the Friday, and I'd wake up Saturday morning And I'd be 430. >> Yeah. >> What's the benefit of

just putting 20 lbs of that on? >> Protection. Weight obviously weight moves weight. >> Right. >> You're full of carbs, you're full of energy, everything's just more more compact. Everything's more tense. It's everything. Your muscles are hydrated. It's just like a big protection system. Let's put 20 lbs of protection on. >> Right. >> So that's what you do. >> So given how food over the years has sickened you with food cuz you've ate so much and whatever, what's your favorite meal? Like if if you could have your favorite meal, you what [snorts] would it be?

>> Oh, now? >> Now. >> Uh that steak and eggs. >> So you But you ate that anyway during training, obviously. >> Yeah, I I eat all the time. >> Yeah. >> It's my my favorite meal. I have uh uh I have a kilo of red meat every day, and I probably have six duck eggs every day. That's That's literally my favorite food. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, so it's just steak and eggs. >> Duck eggs are better, are they? >> Yes, duck eggs are way better. Smother them Smother it all in butter and salt. Bit

of sauerkraut. >> So, if someone wants to lose weight, that that says they should follow this plan. >> 100%. 100%. Carnivore diet. >> Yeah, carnivore diet, yeah. >> Meat and eggs. I have salmon with breakfast, maybe a bit of cottage cheese now and again. Say a bit of sauerkraut, maybe a bit of kimchi. Sometimes I have some sourdough bread, some little treats. Sometimes I have some cheesecake. You know what I mean? >> [laughter] >> Flashbacks from the cheesecake. I can't believe this. >> I could Well, back in the day it was Like I I I

would eat 70% healthy, 30% cheesecake. >> [laughter] >> And now it's more like 90% healthy, 10% cheesecake. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah, so there's still You've got to have that balance, you know? You can't And these these people that go full [ __ ] hard out, like punish themselves, don't have any treats. I mean, extreme. Life for living, you know? >> Mhm. And when were you uh when were you World's Strongest Man? >> 2017. >> And you stopped You stopped that after you won? >> I retired the same day. >> You retired the same day,

and then you went into combat sport. >> Um well, I guess um I did a few years of just capitalizing on the win, you know? Riding that wave, so to say, doing appearances, sponsorships, TV shows. Uh and then COVID hit. And that's when the um the fight came about with Hafthor uh during COVID. So, yeah, I got stuck into the fight game. And then I guess after the fight with Thor, I uh I decided to grow my family. So, I ended up having um two {slash} three more kids. >> What does two {slash} three mean?

>> The two {slash} It means two with >> Does that mean one of them you don't like? >> Two two with one on the way, basically. >> Right. >> Um promised my wife we would we would we would have a big family and that was the time to do it. And then I've done that and it's kind of like back into fat sports. >> And was there a genuine Hatred between you and Thor? When you were I watched a lot of it. You know, there was obviously the the deadlift competition where, you know, you had

it then he had it but did he have it and then you had it again. And then obviously there was the there was the fight that was going to happen and then what somebody got injured and then it didn't happen and then it and you just seemed to like have a real dislike towards each other. He just dug his heels in and you're a cheat. I should have won that competition. And he still to this day he's

And once you've been the World's Strongest Man to then come back down to not normal levels, but to know you are not the World's Strongest Man is is very It's very hard to let go of. it's tough, man. Knowing knowing you can run literally I when I was at my biggest in my mind I could run through that [ __ ] wall. >> You probably could. >> probably could have. Seriously. Like a 200 200 kilo man full ball, I could have run through that [ __ ] wall. And now I know I can't do that. And that's it's an ego thing, you know, you just don't feel as big, as powerful, as you know, it's it's it's a tough thing to let go of. >> And in that sport I take it

it's not necessarily a young Man's sport because you need a lot of time to train yourself and to get the size and to gain the muscle in order to be the one of the world's strongest men. So, when's your window of competitiveness? Is it between what, 30 and 40? Or you know? >> I mean, there's been a lot of people winning the World's Strongest Man sort of mid-20s. Um but that's that's not to say that's The peak. I I I honestly think that the human body would peak around 33 from experience in terms of strength.

You look at all these people that have pushed world records in the strength world, they're usually early 30s. Um where the World's Strongest Man differs a little bit is and we've touched on this before, is sometimes the events Aren't going to find out who the strongest man in the world is. And that's a really hard thing for me to say, but that that's the truth. And that's the truth with a lot of competitions. You know, sometimes >> I don't understand. >> Well, sometimes >> Some of them are more endurance. >> Yeah, sometimes you get events

that are more suited to a younger, fitter, more Faster athlete. >> Okay, I get you. Yeah. >> As opposed to the strongest. >> Yeah. >> And some people may think, well, that's just that's strongman, that's the way it should be. My opinion is the strongest man on the planet should win the World's Strongest Man, but sometimes they put a bit more endurance in there, you know, who's got the best Lungs, who's got the faster feet, who's who's got the better trajectory, who's got the best better technique and and and this is this is my this

is my thing, right? But if you're asking me about strength, like when you peak in strength, I would say a 33-year-old is the most prime time to be the strongest the strongest person. >> in pretty much every other sport, your career's finished at at 33. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Unless you're elite. You know, a footballer at 33 is done. >> Yeah. Yeah, and I'd agree with you. Most fighters are done by >> unless you unless you a tennis player is done at 26. You know, they play from 16 to 26. Unless you're like a freak

like Djokovic or you know, and he's an incredible athlete. Um but yeah, I mean so it's it's one of those sports that you you have to give yourself time in order to Be the best in the world, to build the strength. >> a thing as old man strength, yeah. You know, just like just just just being old and just like having years and years and years of being in the gym and building that tendon strength and the ligament strength. Takes years to build. I mean this I mean it's a genuine thing. >> There's a thing

such thing as farmer strength as well, you know. >> Yes. >> Honest to god, every single farmer where I live is there's a lot of farmers around the Henley-in-Arden area. And we go to the pub and they're all massive and they're all super strong and they've never seen a gym in their life. And they'll drink 15 pints every night and their hands are like shovels. Their forearms are like my leg. And it's just it's just farmer strength. >> That's true. And that's just years and years and years of lifting bales, Pushing cows around, yeah. That's

true. >> Do you >> Old man strength. >> Do you watch it? Watch the World's Strongest Man? Do you sit and watch it? Are you still interested in it? >> Yeah, I mean I I go and present it every year. So yeah, I'm there watching it, you know. I love being a part of that and um It's interesting to see like as I say these different Bodies and and and and kids coming through and winning the competition. As I say, not necessarily the strongest, but it's like he was agile, you know what I mean? He

was able to move and and and get round those techniques and it's it's different. It's different. >> And how's it changed since you won it? >> I would say it's definitely got lighter. >> Right. >> Um you know, we're not doing like max deadlifts. Let's do it a max squat. Let's Let's Let's put stupid weight on the back. It's definitely changed. >> Is that because of like health and safety? Cuz you see sometimes I see it all the time when you watch these things, someone halfway through a competition will just faint. >> Yeah. >> Fall

flat on their face. Just like there's a big 20 stone man who's just fell flat on his face. >> to you when you did the 500 >> Yeah. >> kilo deadlift, I mean? >> Yeah, exactly. Um I just think it goes through cycles. Strongman. I mean, you look at like the the '80s, it was more '70s, '80s, it was more circus strongman. It was like bar bending. >> Yeah. >> house bricks on your back and run around the track with it. >> It's more like comical sort of stuff, you know? >> Um got a bit

more serious in the '90s, but then still it it went to like more endurance. You got like Mariusz Pudzianowski who just had this phenomenal engine that could just pick up 100 kilo in each hand and run a mile, >> Mhm. >> you know? Just incredible feats of strength. Um and then I'd say 2010 onwards, it started to get heavy. Like weights really creeping up. The guys getting massive as well. You got people like myself, myself, Brian, Brian Shaw, Hafthor Júlíus Björnsson, like all four of us like weighing close to 200 kilo in body weight, you

know? And that's just unheard of. And and when you've got four guys that size, that strong, what else can you do? Let's [ __ ] put the weights bigger. >> Yeah. >> Um >> Let's break some records. >> Let's break some records. And that era, in my opinion, was the strongest era we've had so far. It's it's you know, you put you put today's era back then and give us what weights we had back then, we'd [ __ ] destroy them. >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, it's just Evolution, isn't it? >> It is evolution,

yeah, yeah. >> Do you enjoy combat sports more than um strongman competition? >> No, nothing will ever fill that void of winning the World's Strongest Man. Nothing will ever fill that that >> Is that what you set out to do? >> Yeah. >> Was that the highest peak in your life? >> You know, I think we've had this conversation before. It's so it's like it's like a it's like a it's like when you take All right, not saying you have, not saying I have. This is from what I've heard. >> [laughter] >> So when you

take it for the first time, you have this humongous high. It's like the best feeling in the world. You punch through the clouds. You [ __ ] meet Jesus. Right? And then the next night you try it again, but you never quite meet Jesus. Right? You never quite >> much and you will definitely meet Jesus. >> Yeah, yeah. But you know what I'm saying? Like you never quite get that same high and and that's what the World's Strongest Man was to me. It was like I had this [ __ ] huge high, punched through the

Clouds, met Jesus, like the best feeling in the world, and I've never been able to fill that that crave. It's like an addiction. >> So you're chasing it. >> So I'm chasing it. >> Do you ever sit in the living room and think I'm [clears throat] the strongest person in the world. There's no There's 8 billion people. None of them are as strong as me. >> Yeah. >> I mean that is that is quite unbelievable, isn't >> nice feeling. Yeah. Yeah, it's a pretty nice feeling. So I guess um I guess the fighting is never

going to fill that void, but it's keeping me fit, keeping me healthy, and I really enjoy punching people in the face. So. Let's [ __ ] crack on. Let's do do Something that that you know keeps me happy, keeps me fit, puts some money on the table. Um I honestly I couldn't think of anything better I could be doing right now. >> How would today compare with like sponsorships and earnings in the World's Strongest Man to 2017 and then how did 2017 compare to say 2010? How's it How's it gone over the years? >> So

I won my first England's Strongest Man title in 2010 on a pub car park in North England. And I got paid [ __ ] all. I got a little plastic trophy that said England's Strongest Man, go [ __ ] yourself. >> [laughter] >> And that was it, right? Fast forward to Britain's Strongest Man 2016 and I won £3,500. >> That was a year before you won World's >> before I won the World's Strongest Man, right. >> £3,500 won't pay for your [ __ ] food. >> Exactly. Um World's Strongest Man, I think I got £35,000

for winning the World's Strongest Man. So, it's pretty abysmal when you talk about, you know, you got to make a living from this. It's [ __ ] abysmal. That has really progressed because of People like myself, you know, getting Netflix documentaries and and having such a big profile. It's brought a lot more eyes to the sport. Um prize money is pretty much doubled, if not tripled. >> Mhm. >> If not quadrupled in in some areas. I think Giants Live for Britain's Strongest Man is now 20,000. >> Mhm. >> You know, so we're we're talking nearly,

you know, eight times more what what I Was getting paid. Um Where I Where I became successful was my my brand. No one has has has started a brand and then stuck to it. You know, my brand was the beast. I started my brand in 2015. First thing I did was have the beast. [ __ ] cigars, alcohol. I don't know, you know, I've got [ __ ] umbrellas out there with Beast branding on it, you know. You know, it all Just builds into one

And it like I always try and relate it to the strongman cuz that's it'd just be amazing. You know, a father and son will win the world's strongest man. >> a father and son strongman

He's like, "What do you mean?" I'm like, "Well, think about it, mate. How many 13s there are in the world? Probably probably

you know, 500 million 13-year-olds in the world. You're the [ __ ] That That's the world record for a 13-year-old. You're number one of of half a billion people. So, sometimes like it's the confidence in kids that that gets knocked out of them and that gets knocked out of them through through pressure, peer pressure. You know, I think um people like kids look in the mirror these days and they don't see success. They just see [ __ ] pressure and struggle. And and I'm trying to make Max to see look in the mirror and be

like, "You're the number one, mate. Look in that [ __ ] mirror and like you're the you're the daddy. You're the [ __ ] boss man of every 13-year-old in this [ __ ] world. I would love for him to have that vision and get into strongman, but you I just don't want to pressure it too much. It's like, what the [ __ ] >> One one of my one of my friends, he's he's he's he's got into cards recently in quite a big way. Um and we went out for a meal, and I'm now

trying to get him into watches and stuff, cuz cards and watches, they kind of go hand in hand, you know? It's the same world. And he's like he's he's like, I I can't get my head around spending, say like 15 Grand on a watch. I just I can't get me head around it. I just I'm not into it. That same day, I watched him give 40 grand for a Pokémon card. >> Yeah, yeah. But that's definitely going to go up in value. >> He was like, mate, it was cheap. That's an that's an 80 grand

card. And I'm like, no, that that is not 80 grand. [laughter] But, you know, he knows what he's doing. He's knowledge. And the thing with with Watches, which he now has kind of got into watches, by the way, but, you know, he wanted to understand the world of it. He wanted to understand on the investment on on what it was. He didn't just want to go and buy a watch cuz he could afford to buy a watch. He wanted to buy the right watch. And it's the same with his his Pokémon cards. Like, he's he

he's just like a an absolute his knowledge is unbelievable of different Grades and different ratings and different how rare it is and when it comes around. Like, he's bang straight on it and he'd go, "I'll buy that 50, 60 grand." I'm like, this is this is madness. I'm like, can't you buy these from the co-op or something? a there's a story actually. This is going back year when when the classic car market took its first massive hike, which was about 2006 2005 2006. Had one sister who had one kid. Didn't get married, didn't have a wife, didn't have kids, didn't have anything. The

only Thing that he had when he died, that he never met by the way, was a nephew. >> Right. >> Never did never did meet his nephew. So, everything in his will, which weren't a lot, um his house, but like his house in the middle of the woods in Switzerland somewhere. And um in this garage, this old garage with a padlock on it and had the door half Broken and whatever. And they pulled the sheet back and there was sort of 3/4 of a car in there, like missing two front wheels on jacks, missing a

door. And when they pulled it off, it was like a long lost missing Bugatti. They only made three in the world. They They've always known where two are. They've never known where this one was. Well, it's a bit much, but I'll take it, you know." >> We used to um we used to use a a paint shop um in um in the around the Nottingham area. And I'm going back now I I'm 38. I would have been say at 14 or 15. And I've delivered this car to the paint Shop. It was getting like the front end painted because of stone chips or whatever. And always always always in this paint shop, there was

a Lamborghini Countach that was on a ramp for as long as I can ever remember. It's always been there and it's in bits. And it was always there for as long as I can remember. It'd been there for 10 years. Anyway, This day come and delivering this car and need paint this, paint that, paint something else. He said, "Carl, he said, 'The guy who owns that Lamborghini he said, "I've had enough. It's been here for 10 years. He owes me way more than what the car's worth. So, I'm taking the car and he's he's basically

just said, "I can't afford to pay you. Take the car." So, I was like, "What's [ __ ] half a car?" He's like, "Yeah, but I've got the other half of the bits like in the back." So, obviously it was a non-running car that was risky at the time. So, I was like I don't know where to start with this. I knew it was a it was a it was a Lamborghini Countach 88.5 um right-hand drive. They made 13 of them. And um I knew exactly what it was. And I said, "Well, how much does

he owe you?" He said, "Well, he owes me 15 grand." And I was like, "Does he?" >> [laughter] >> I bet he said it just like that as well. >> So, he was he was like >> Horrible, yeah. >> That's a mess. That's not worth that. >> Anyway, [laughter] I I actually paid him less than that for the car. Because at the time >> How does a paint shop not know what a Countach is? >> No, but look. This was 20-odd years ago and at the time the cars were only 50 grand for a Lamborghini

Countach as a as a as a perfect example. This I'm going to try and find the find the engine. You know? Um but what was special about this car was the variant of Countach that it was. You know, it wasn't which he didn't know obviously. And it was it was only Because I noticed on the side sills they had the specific sills to the to that car. Other than that, you don't know the difference. You don't know any difference. And and you know, that car at the time made 100 grand. >> Wow. So, what did

you pay for it? >> I I more than like it was a weird number. It was like he wanted 15. I like 13,750 or something something Stupid. >> Okay, nice. >> But if I'd have said to him, "Yeah, I'll give you 15." >> He'd have walked. >> went he'd have went, "Woah, hang on a minute. But, they She came to me and said, "There's some people outside they've been beeping the horn. They They obviously want to get to you." And I'm like, "Well, just tell them [ __ ] off." So, she goes out and she like, "Look, you know, He's not here. Leave us alone. Blah blah blah." "Can you move away from the property?" So, they move from one side of the driveway to the other side

of the driveway. And they're they're there a total of 20 minutes. And at the end of the 20 minutes Alex comes to me and she says, "Look, look, these people have been very rude. I've asked them to leave. They told me to f off and whatever." And I've just done because they just think they're the only ones that do this and they're not. Like, it's a daily occurrence. Like, you get people knock on all the [ __ ] time. Like, "Is Eddie in? Can I have a picture? Can we just do this? Can we just

do that?" And it's just it's obscene what people think is okay. And the fact that they've been asked to leave three times and doing it and beeping the horn over the space of 20 Minutes. I was like, "Fuck this." I was like, "I'm going out there with no intention other than to tell these people to [ __ ] off." Don't give a [ __ ] what they've got to say. So, that was it. I went down. I just opened this guy's car door. I was like, "Mate, don't care what you've got to say. Just [

__ ] off." Closed his door, went to the other car. He I think he got the [ __ ] He He got the intention. So, he started Driving away. He was like, "Yeah, good lad. [ __ ] off." And then the one that was sat right outside my [ __ ] gate, I uh he put his window down. And I was like, "Mate, I don't want to hear what you've got to say." I said, "You've been out here for too long now." I was like, "Fuck off. Kids are in bed. You're beeping your horn. Just

off." And he said, "Oh, but my kids just want just want a picture." And I was like I was like, "Fuck your kids." I was like, "My kids are in [ __ ] bed and you're waking them up. [ __ ] your kids. [ __ ] off." And he just [ __ ] looked me dead in the eye, put it in gear, and he started started trickling away. And as he was driving away, he went, "I'll [ __ ] knock you out." And you know when you just see red? I was just like, "Fucking little

fucker." Like, I wanted to flip this guy's car over and just [ __ ] kill him. Anyway, they just they just all three of them were like driving down the road just a bit faster than walking speed. So, I'm sort of following them down. And then I saw one of them was filming. So, I thought [ __ ] this. So, I went to grab his phone, didn't quite get it. And then they all just sped off and and and And of course, they put that video online of me chasing down the street. Which looked horrendous.

I will admit. It looked pretty bad. You know, man my size running down the street going, "I'm going to rip your [ __ ] heads off, you little fuckers." It didn't look good. And then you've got I mean, I I didn't know there were kids in the cars till the very last second. Right? And then you've got kids screaming. >> Oh god. >> So, it just I'm shouting that and kids are like, "Ah, run away." So, it just made me look like this [ __ ] monster. And um I think it was the Sun were

the first ones to sort of pick this up and put it and put the video on their social media. And it was something like "Stedhead Eddie Hall" or "Road Rage". And I was like, "You [ __ ] bastards." And every single comment had something like 20 million views in the first hour. Like, it went [ __ ] so viral. And every single comment was like, "Oh My god, Eddie Hall's a scumbag. Upsets kids. Like, oh, how dare he act like this in public?" And all this [ __ ] And no one knew they were outside

my house for 20 minutes beeping their [ __ ] horn. >> Mhm. >> So, I had to It took me a couple of days to sort of muster up a response. Sent all my CCTV off to my editor. I was like, "Mate, [ __ ] make me a response to this because I'm getting slaughtered Here." And luckily, I did the response and just I I step by step exactly what they did. And every single person was like, "That That That disgusting behavior." And it all It all sort of came back round. But, yeah, that was

um That was a tough tough couple of days in my life cuz I remember my brother rang me up. He was like the CEO of all my companies. He's like, "Eddie, I just want you to know that we've not had a Single sale on the website today." >> [ __ ] >> And that never happened. He's like, "You You have been canceled. Like, everyone thinks you're just this like child-scaring monster that wants to rip people's heads off." And luckily, when I did that response, it came back round and you know, the business picked up pretty
