hi mystery reca here today I'm going to explain an action sci-fi movie called The Book of Eli spoilers ahead watch out and take care the movie opens 30 years after a devastating nuclear war that destroyed the ozone layer leaving the earth a Barren toxic Wasteland the vast majority of the world has been burned and only a small remnant of civilization remains now we then meet our protagonist Eli who is traveling on on foot towards the west coast of what was once the United States Eli possesses remarkable survival skills and often hunts cats for food every
night he listens to music on his iPod this was before Apple started putting self-destruct buttons in their products and reads A mysterious book one morning while Eli is traveling he Witnesses a group of bikers Ambush a couple on the road the bikers quickly kill the man and kidnap the woman intending to assault her later seeing this Eli feels very bad but he reminds himself that it doesn't concern him and he shouldn't get involved after convincing himself he walks away from there and continues on his journey shortly after Eli realizes that his iPod has run out
of battery which worries him he then heads to a nearby crumbling town and enters a store where he meets the town's engineer Eli asks if he can have his iPod charged and in exchange he offers a vintage lighter and some wet napkins the owner accepts the offer and informs Eli that it will take some time to charge the iPod when the ladder asks if there is anywhere he can find water the engineer directs him toward a nearby bar in another scene the biker gang also arrives at the same location and meets their boss Carnegie the
warlord of this ruined Town it turns out that he is desperately searching for a specific book and sends his men out every day to find it the gang leader Marts presents a collection of scavenged books to Carnegie but the latter immediately realizes that none of them are what he's looking for Marts also hands a small bottle of fluid which Carnegie recognizes as shampoo he thanks the men for their efforts and orders them to drink as much as they want from the bar after the biker gang leaves Carnegie orders his right-hand Man red Ridge to burn
all the books red Ridge doesn't understand why he would send these people to hunt for books every day when they can't even read however Carnegie remains hopeful that someday they will find what he's looking for a narrator following this he approaches his blind mistress Claudia and begins to wash her hair with the shampoo he informs her that this might be the last shampoo in the world and the woman seems pleased by this meanwhile Eli arrives at Carnegie's bar and requests to have his canteen filled with water while taking out items from his bag he accidentally
knocks down a cat sitting on the counter he quickly apologizes thinks to himself about eating the cat later and pays the bartender with a pair of gloves and a scarf the bartender then calls over a young woman named Solera and asks her to fill the canteen with water moments later Eli is approached by Marts who is furious with him for knocking down his cat earlier Eli explains that it was just an accident and that he doesn't want any trouble however Mar see seems to be in a fighting mood and launches an assault heli doesn't hold
back and violently smashes his head to the counter causing him to bleed profusely not wanting any more trouble he prepares to leave but soon the other bikers gang up on him to attack at this moment Eli narrates a passage from the Bible and starts slaughtering the entire gang with his machete he ends up killing everyone there but just as he's about to finish off the last man Solara returns and stops him that's not what the Bible is about meanwhile Carnegie who has been watching everything is impressed by The Traveler and invites him to his office
the warlord realizes that Eli is from the former world and is an educated person he asks the man if he reads to which Eli responds that he does every day impressed Carnegie urges him to stay in the town and work for him claiming that he can offer him all the luxuries that ordinary people cannot access however Eli flatly refuses saying that he intends to continue his journey West this disappoints Carnegie but he manages to persuade the Trav her to stay at least for the night later while Eli is in his room Claudia arrives with some
food for him and he can immediately tell that she's blind he asks if it's due to the radiation but she responds that she was born this way when Claudia returns to Carnegie she informs him that Eli is not like other men and he won't stay there Carnegie responds that in that case he will send Solara to seduce him this makes Claudia panic and she starts begging him not to do this as it turns out that Solara is her daughter in another scene Solara arrives in Eli's room and tries to seduce him but he turns down
her advances she then begs him to let her stay for the night explaining that Carnegie will hurt her mother if she goes back she insists that she will sleep on the floor so Eli reluctantly agrees the two then begin shatting and salara who was born after the war listens intently to The Traveler stories of the past during their conversation she notices a book with him and asks what it is but Eli refuses to show it to her he instead questions where they get their water but she also refuses to tell him that Eli then shares
his food with her and also takes a moment to teach her how to pray before eating their meal the next morning Solara joins Claudia and Carnegie for breakfast before they start eating Solara holds her mother's hands and recites the prayer just like Eli totter witnessing this Carnegie is shocked and asks where she learned it the young woman doesn't answer so he angrily proceeds to hurt Claudia this forces Solara to reveal that it was Eli who taught her the prayer she also admits that he had a book with a cross symbol on the front indicating that
it's a Bible hearing this Carnegie becomes excited and we learn that it was the Bible he had been searching for all along he immediately sends his henchmen to capture Eli but the man has already escaped Eli is at the engineer's store and retrieves his iPod before preparing to leave however Carnegie also arrives with his henchmen and demands that he hand over the book when the traveler refuses the men begin shooting at him but he manages to dodge all of the bullets as if he's protected by God Jesus Christ ain't got [ __ ] on me
as they continue their attack Eli returns gunfire and kills many of the men he even manages to wound Carnegie in the leg before finally leaving the town after this Eli continues on his way but is soon followed by salara who wishes to join him she reveals that her mother thought she would be safer with him than in the town Eli refuses to take her but she promises to show him the source of water if he allows her to accompany him hearing this the man finally changes his mind Solara then takes him to the town's water
supply which turns out to be an underground spring she reveals that almost everyone who knew about this place is dead so Carnegie uses the water to maintain his dominance in the town meanwhile Carnegie is having his wound treated and orders red Ridge to gather his men and prepare to go after Eli red Ridge doesn't understand why he is going to such lengths just for a book so Carnegie says that the book is a weapon he explains that by taking advantage of its teachings he can instill Faith and Hope in the people transforming them into Fanatics
who will do anything at his command with an army that is blindly obedient he could expand his control over even larger territories which is actually exactly what religion was used for in the past in the evening Eli and Solara seek refuge in the ruins of a power plant she wonders what makes the book so important so Eli explains his mission to her according to him this Bible is the last remaining copy all the others having been intentionally destroyed after the nuclear war Eli reveals that he was very lucky to have survived the war one day
he heard a voice echoing from the sky guid him to a location where he found the book after that the voice urged him to travel West until he found a place where the book would be safe it also assured him that he would be protected on his journey thus for the past three decades he has been traveling west Guided by his faith and reading the Bible every day without fail the next morning the duo continues their journey and soon comes across a house in the middle of the desert they believe it's abandoned and try to
enter But immediately fall into a pit revealing it to be a trap an elderly couple named George and Martha then come outside pointing a gun at them the coule is about to shoot but when they see Solara their attitude suddenly changes they then invite the two inside and offer them tea however the duo notices the couple's hands shaking uncontrollably which makes them suspicious they also observe a large Cemetery in the backyard and assume that the couple might be cannibals or they're just really old realizing that they're about to be eaten the duo rushes to leave
the house George points a gun to stop them but Eli also draws his weapon and leaves leaves with Solara however just as they step outside they spot Carnegie and his men approaching in vehicles with no other option the duo Retreats inside the house and locks themselves in Carnegie then uses a megaphone and demands that they come outside with the book but when he receives no response he orders his men to start shooting at the house fearing that they will all be killed George unveils a stash of weapons and the four begin firing back at the
attackers however despite their efforts they are no match for Carnegie's men who have Superior weapons the old couple of eventually gets killed I guess Eli's God bubble move isn't an AOE while Eli and Solara are captured following this Carnegie urges Eli to reveal where the book is but the latter refuses to answer the men searches bag for the book but it's not there either Carnegie then grabs salara and threatens to hurt her if Eli doesn't cooperate this leaves the traveler with no other choice and he admits that he hid the book behind the TV the
henchmen then immediately retrieve it and Carnegie is over the moon to have finally found the book he even shoots Eli in the abdomen and jokes that he's a man after all after this the group takes salara and heads back toward the town while our hero collapses to the ground later we see Solara in a van with red Ridge and a few men while Carnegie is in another vehicle she notices red Ridge placing Eli's machete on the dashboard and comes up with a plan moments later Solara uses a rope she is hidden to strangle the driver's
neck which causes an accident during the distraction she grabs the machete and kills red Ridge and his men she then gets out and blows up the third van with the grenade she found in George's stash meanwhile Carnegie watches in horror as his men are brutally blown up right in front of him Solara then steals the van and drives off in the opposite direction but rather than pursuing her Carnegie decides to return to town since his vehicle is running low on gas shortly after salara returns to the house but is disappointed to find that Eli is
nowhere to be seen she then continues heading west where she eventually spots him walking along the road she picks him up and realizes that he's brutally injured and in a lot of pain as Eli tends to to his wounds Solara wonders how he could give up the book so easily after going through so much over the years Eli admits that even though he read the Bible every day he had forgotten its Core teaching which is to help others sometime later the two finally reached their destination and find the ruined city of San Francisco the bridge
leading into the city is collapsed so they exit the car and board a boat they find on the shore they then cross the river and proceed to the former prison island of Alcatraz moments later some guards Point guns at them and demand to know who they are Eli introduces himself and states that he possesses the only copy of the King James version of the Bible hearing this the guards allow them to enter where they discover a small community that has sought refuge on the island the leader named Lombardi greets the duo and gives the mature
of the place he explains that the people here have gathered fragments of civilization and have already preserved significant literary and musical works from the past they have even repaired the printing press to share the knowledge but the only thing missing is the Kucha the Bible meanwhile Carnegie has returned to town but his wounds have worsened leaving him in poor condition he tries to open the Bible but discovers that it is locked which frustrates him he then calls in the town engineer and demands that he carefully unlock it after some effort the engineer manages to open
the lock but Carnegie is stunned to find that it is written in Braille desperate he approaches Claudia and urges her to read it but she lies saying that she has forgotten how to read since it has been so long she also also informs him that she can smell the infection in his wounded leg and senses that he will die soon to make matters worse Carnegie's Relentless pursuit of Eli has depleted the number of his henchmen as a result the town's people have risen up and are slaughtering the remainder of his men the city soon falls
into chaos and Carnegie can only watch helplessly as he succumbs to his injuries meanwhile with his last remaining strength Eli recites to Lombardi all of the Bible verses he has memorized from reading it so many times the fact that he has dictated rather than writing it down along with a camera panning to his gray eyes suggests that Eli is actually blind but despite his condition he has made it this far with the help of a higher power after the manuscript is completed Lombardi prints Eli's recited verses using his printing press he then places it safely
in his Library alongside the Hebrew Bible in the Quran and 50 Shades of Gray as the Bible finally Finds Its rightful place Eli feels that his life's purpose has been fulfilled and takes his last breath peacefully in the final scene Lombardi advises Solara to stay on the island with the Civilized but she declines the offer the movie then comes to an end as she takes Eli's weapons and Ventures out into the Wasteland seemingly to rescue her mother subscribe for more videos like this turn on notifications and leave a like to help the channel out thank
