you are returning welcome back on my channel we talk all things LinkedIn marketing career and business success make sure you are subscribed to my channel and click the Bell to be notified whenever I drop a new video I don't want you to miss a beat so there are three key parts to an effective LinkedIn content strategy the first is your posts this is content you are actively posting on LinkedIn the second is your comments these are the comments you leave on your post as well as the people's posts and the third is your overall engagement
on the platform so your posts your comments and your engagement this walk through each of these key sections to ensure you maximize your linked content strategy from all three fronts because each of them are critically important to an effective content strategy so the first is your posts there are three different types of posts I like to create on LinkedIn keep in mind LinkedIn posts come in a variety of formats you could do video images Graphics blogs and more so all of these different formats you could put into these three types of posts the first is
educational or value driven posts this is where you teach your audience something of value as it relates to your industry or Niche you want to share free value here to position yourself as an expert the second type of post is commentary now this is different from comments that you make on posts the commentary type of post is where you are giving your opinion or Insight on a Hot Topic or industry trend for example you could give your opinion on how AI is transforming your industry or how you are utilizing AI in your role and the
third type of post is personal stories these always perform amazingly on LinkedIn because it gives people an Insight view to who you are and it humanizes your brand you could share an area of your personal life that people don't know or are not familiar with just yet at the time of this video LinkedIn is heavily pushing video content specifically short form videos these could be things like Instagram reals Tik Tok videos or YouTube shorts but I've also seen static posts and carousels perform really well on the platform as well so my tip here is to
test them all test all the different formats on your account in those three categories of educational commentary or personal and see based on your data and analytics which your audience resonates with the most I want to give you very specific example examples of posts that you could create in those three categories of course customize them to your industry and your area of expertise but here are some examples to get your gears turning let's say you are a marketing manager for a technology company for an educational post you could do a talking head video about the
top five ways that technology companies mess up with their marketing for commentary post since AI is such a Hot Topic you might notice that AI is transforming how marketing leaders like yourself perform their work so you could do a commentary post on exactly how you are utilizing AI in your day-to-day role this could be a static image of you and you're mentioning that commentary in the caption and the third example is a personal story here maybe you share about a time that you felt unsure of yourself as a leader and the exact steps that you
took to overcome it there are so many ways that you could play around with the different types of content as well as the different formats my key to here is to spend 1 to two months just testing test the variation use different formats and see what your audience resonates with the most so that was the first part of your LinkedIn content strategy which was your posts remember the three types of posts you can create which are educational or value driven commentary or personal now let's get into the second key part of your LinkedIn content strategy
and that is your comment listen your comments on other people's post are part of your LinkedIn content strategy here's why when you leave a a comment on another person's post that post will show up on your followers feed LinkedIn will also highlight to your followers or to your network posts that you have engaged with I've also seen comments that hold real value go viral and this significantly boost the visibility and follow account of the person that commented now you don't just want to leave generic and especially not chat GPT Creator comments you want to leave
valuable thoughtful comments on posts that you resonate with or posts that are related to your industry and ones you can add an extra perspective to so how do you add comments to your LinkedIn content strategy first when you create a post and somebody comments on it make sure you are engaging with those comments you can leave very thoughtful engaging replies and even ask questions in comments to get people to engage further the more comments the more you'll reach you can also find and follow well-known brands or influencers that you resonate with and add value to
their posts give a a two to three sentence thoughtful reply as this is an easy way to get eyeballs onto your comment and your profile from other people's trending posts are you actively engaging with thoughtful comments right now on LinkedIn let me know in the comments below I'm curious to know so we've gone through two of three in the ultimate LinkedIn content strategy the first key was your posts and remember consistency with posting is key the second one was your comments how you are leaving thoughtful comments can also boost your LinkedIn content strategy and the
third key part to an effective LinkedIn content strategy is your engagement LinkedIn has become a Creator platform but it especially rewards those creators that spend the most time on the platform so yes the time that you spend on LinkedIn does matter do you just make a post and then leave this could be impacting your engagement so watch out for this I suggest before you post something spend 30 minutes engaging with others on the platform so I'll spend 30 minutes engaging liking posts sending connection requests leaving thoughtful comments then I'll make my post post it and
I'll stay on for another 15 to 30 minutes to reply to every new comment I get on my recent post your engagement matters more than you think are you actively sending connection requests following other people responding to DMS all of these contribute to a holistic LinkedIn content strategy always remember more connections more views more visibility so those were the three key sections to an effective LinkedIn content strategy I now want to walk you through my five dos and don'ts when it comes to an effective LinkedIn content strategy let's get into it let's talk dos do
optimize your profile branding is everything great content does not matter if your profile is weak I want you to watch this video next to spruce up your LinkedIn profile do ensure your profile photos stands out your profile photo or head shot is what people see when you engage with other posts and when you comment so put your best foot forward here a professional head shot goes a long way do use AI tools like chat GPT to help you come up with creative and new content ideas for your Niche work smarter and harder do like your
own posts yes this might sound strange but trust me as soon as your content is posted part your own post it helps with engagement and visibility and do get friends family and co-workers to engage with your post the moment that you post it if LinkedIn sees that a post gets engagement and traction within a few hours of posting it will show that post to more and more people so you want to get as much engagement within the first few hours of posting now let's get into the dotes please do not include external links in your
caption or in your actual post put any external links in the comment of that post for example I share my YouTube videos on LinkedIn but I don't put the link directly in the caption I put the link in the comments LinkedIn does not want people to leave the platform so putting it in the comments ensures that LinkedIn does not limit the visibility of your post do not delete posts this will tank your reach and engagement don't neglect your caption you could have an amazing graphic but if your caption is lackluster your post will not perform
as well as it could a good caption can make or break a post so utilize this to your advantage do not use too many hashtags I suggest three to five relevant hashtags for each post that you make overcrowding a post with hashtags will limit your engagement and your reach and please do not use paragraphs in your caption or huge blocks of text right like you speak use on liners break up your text and leave as much open space in your caption as possible that makes it easier for people to read your caption and engage and
