Welcome to the jungle. The new biome is finally almost here, releasing May 1st and currently is on the Ox 3 staging branch, featuring new foliage, new trees, new monuments, new weapons, a bunch of new DLC, and of course, new animals, and they are quite interesting. But first, let's talk about the new jungle biome.
We are currently on a map size of 6,000, which is the largest, and the size of the new jungle biome fits in perfectly. The new trees include Brazilian fern trees, moriche palms, trumpet trees, and the kpock tree. There's also a ton of new foliage like the mimosa ferns, arrowroot, monstera bushes, bromeilad bushes, and a bunch of other jungle ferns to fill in the gaps.
Everything about the new jungle biome still feels very rust, as well as feeling like a jungle, which I was kind of unsure if it would or not. and the performance feels just about the same as any other dense forest in rust. The new kpock tree has a few special attributes.
You can identify them by the thick trunk and the vines wrapping around it with the purple flowers. And you can climb it. Once you make your way towards the top of the tree, you'll find multiple branches that you can stand on with vines that you can swing between tree to tree.
And there's a little arrow letting you know what direction it will go in. And it swings low enough that you'll take minimal damage if you press spacebar to jump off. If you hold E, you can interact with the vines and descend straight down instead of swinging on them.
And if you're swinging around with your teammate and you need to throw the vine back, there's also an option for that. And this is also how you can tell that a vine is away from its starting point. These are also the first immortal trees.
You can still harvest them for resources. Their vines attached will return to their source points, and a stump will remain for a few minutes and will not respawn if a player is nearby. And don't forget that you can go try this and test out the new jungle biome for yourself on the new ox 3 staging branch.
And if you don't know what that means, well, good thing that I've partnered up with Pine Hosting to make that process a whole lot more simple for you. By using code Drzza with three Z's, you'll get 30% off your first month. All you have to do is enter the promo code right here during checkout and you'll get 30% off.
And to switch your server over to staging once you get it, if you head over to the startup tab and scroll all the way down to the bottom, you will see the betas in the bottom right where you can enter beta ox03. Here's some more information on how to do that from Pine Hosting themselves. And they've also got a great support staff if you need some assistance.
And don't forget to right click on the staging branch, which is a different game in your Steam library, and head over to the betas and switch it to ox03. And if you find yourself wanting to upgrade or you have a lot of people on your server, you can head over to the console tab and upgrade by clicking on the little arrows on the right. And once again, that's code Drzza with three Z's for 30% off your first month with Pinehosting.

And this is scattered around the jungle randomly and is fresh drinking water that you can use for your farms. The rivers have a new color when they spawn in the jungle biomes. They are much wider.
And there's going to be more rivers that specifically spawn in the jungle outside the rest, as well as the bridges that go across them for the roads and trains being fixed up a little bit. And you're going to want to keep your eyes peeled because there's a new predator lurking in the waters of the jungle. This chunky boy is the crocodile and he is big and angry and very hungry.
The new predators in the jungle have very advanced AI in comparison to the old animals, similar to the wolves, and they prefer to stalk you out before attacking you. The crocodile in particular, the more you shoot it, the more angry it gets and the more aggressive it gets. It has various types of attacks that are dodgeable.
And in a future video, we'll be taking a deeper look into the tactics required to survive against these harsh predators. So, make sure you click that subscribe button or big croc here is going to haunt your nightmares. Another feature of the large predators is that once they've finished off their prey, they will pick them up and drag them away.
And the crocodile likes to place theirs in the bottom of the water to come back to later. Oh yeah, did I mention they can dive? And once you knock them out and they're taking a good nap and harvest them up, you're going to get a good amount of resources out of them.
In particular, a lot of leather and a lot of animal fat, as well as a good amount of meat and of course their headbag if you use a skinning knife. The blow dart is a powerful new weapon coming with the jungle update. And in rust fashion, you're gripping on that thing that is put together with a bunch of random stuff.
The wood dart is the basic default ammo. The scatter dart is like a shotgun shell. The incapacitate dart blocks vision a little bit and slows enemies.
And the radiation dart inflicts rad damage over time. In my opinion, the radiation dart is pretty powerful and stacks up to five times. And then the scatter dart also does a heck of a lot of damage.
The blow dart can be used inside of an auto turret. And if I start getting shot up by the radiation dart and press tab, you can see there's a status effect here that tells you that you've been stacked up to five times with rads. And if I turn god mode off, you can see it is a lot of radiation damage as well as bleeding.
And if we switch over to the incapacitate dart, you can see that it dims my vision a little bit for about a second. And then it also stacks two to three times for 12. 5% slow.
The boomerang is another new weapon that also serves as a tool that'll be coming with the jungle update. And my favorite part about it is that it works as an actual boomerang does and comes back to you. And you can throw it at stuff to hit it and deal damage and go back and pick it up if you uh get the chance to.
And like I said, this is also a tool, which means you can harvest wood with it. And you can also harvest corpses. It might not be the greatest thing in the world to do so with, but it does give you another option to survive in the harsh world of rust when you don't have anything else.
The Ziggurit Temple is a new monument coming with the jungle biome next month. In the commits, there was talks of a large and a small version of this, but on a 6,000 size map, this is the only one that spawned in. There's a few different entrances and exits, as well as ladders on the outside, and tons of unique vantage points.
And I would compare the loot here to an oxims or a supermarket. On the inside, there is a bunch of open space, as well as some loot crates and some water in the center. On the top of the temple, there's a skylight hole with a ladder as well as a few loot crates.
There's also the jungle ruins, which spawn on the map similar to water wells. They connect up to dirt roads, and there's about five, I think, different variants of these. Some of them spawn military crates, and each of them have some form of unique jump puzzle to access all the loot.
This variant of the jungle ruins has a rope that you jump to to climb up and zipline across with a cave like little jump puzzle here. Get on my level. I've already mastered it.
And on the other side is a few barrels, military crate, and a box. These new mini monuments, on top of having some pretty cool parkour, also have very unique vantage points and are going to serve PvP very well. Something to keep in mind with the jungle ruins as well as the ziggurate temple is that the crate spawns could be like zip lines or gas stations where it has a chance to be either a brown crate or a military crate.
In my next video when I'm going through how to fight off the new predators, hopefully I'll remember to check on that and also to check if there is a second zigurate temple. Scientists that spawn in the jungle biome are fitted out in something called the outbreak scientist hazmat suit. Their loadouts appear to be the same.
So it appears for now at least this is just a visual change. You're going to need to listen to the sounds of the jungle while roaming through it or fall victim to the dangers such as the snake. These little hell spawn demons are hiding in the bushes of the jungle and once you get near them, they stand up and once they're about to attack, they will hiss, and you need to jump to dodge it.
The little green effect that you see is just a placeholder for now and lets you know that they have moved away from you after attacking. And this gives you a chance to either run away or hunt them down if you would like to kill them. From my testing, if you dodge their attack, they're not going to chase you down.
They're just going to run away. And you're going to have to hunt them down to harvest them, which when you harvest them, they will give you snake venom. And I got four from this guy.
and this can be used to craft the incapacitate darts that are used to slow your enemies. The panther and the tiger are vicious predators that are going to be lurking in the bushes of the jungle. There's quite a lot of things in terms of the features that these new animals come with that I'm going to need some more time to delve into, but in terms of the tigers, one of the main things to remember is that once they attack you, they will retreat and go back into lurking.
The ambient noise of birds goes quiet when tigers are stalking you. You can aim at them with your weapon to scare them. They will growl at you three times before attacking.
They have the ability to hear when you hit ore or trees or shoot a gun nearby and then they will target you. If you can injure it while it's charging at you, it will flee fully. Tigers also have the ability to mark trees with its claws in their territory, which is an early warning sign that they're nearby.
They have the ability to attack from ledges. They will drag corpses away when approached while eating. And they will shadow your movement when your back is turned to it.
Also, the tigers attack panthers in the wild, and no wolves are going to spawn in the jungle. These panthers and tigers give a good amount of resources when harvesting them. And if you use a skinning knife, they also have really cool heads to hang as trophies in your base.
This is the new jungle building skin, and it's going to be for the stone. I believe it has a little bit of an Aztec vibe going on, as well as some mosaic tile pieces here and there. I like the way that the foundations and the floor tiles look, and the hard side is very easy to distinguish from the soft side.
If you're testing this out for yourself as an admin on Ox 3, you need to use the upgrade looking or the upgrade radius followed by jungle. It also looks like we're going to be getting some other DLC like an Aztec AK new gestures, obsidian knives, coconut armor set, which is potentially for the wooden armor. I've seen some other commits that might suggest this.
And then there's some testing being done for shelves to be used as vertical storage. Don't forget to go try out the jungle biome for yourself on the Ox 3 staging branch. Now's the time to give Face Punch your feedback if you'd like to do so.
